Netflix started this trend of calling anything animated that they didn't want dumped into a family friendly category "anime" but it's no less shitty than anything else animated in America
>Isn't it pathetic how american animation has to pretend to be japanese after utterly destroying every resemblance of reputation it used to have?
Well, they tried their best to destroy the western comic book industry and they succeeded.
This has been the case since DC's post-Paul Dini shows and Gendy Tartovsky though.
Kinda funny how anime -> live action has almost never worked aside from One Piece (and I’m not pretending that’s amazing) but vidya -> anime has proven successes with stuff like Castlevania and Arcane
>How much did this impact the sales of Cyberpunk though.
Literally brought new life to the game. I think somewhere there was an article about how Edgerunners essentially gave Phantom Liberty it's budget, but just put that as citation needed.
It also included new perks which have the characters from the show including a cremation cemetary showing off the people who died in the show holograms set up by Lucy.
I was just about to say as well. Anime adaptations are never profitable by themselves, they are glorified ads for what they are adapting.
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-edgerunners-helped-push-cd-projekt-to-the-best-third-quarter-in-our-entire-history/ >"This 10-episode series co-developed by CD Projekt Red in collaboration with the Japanese Studio Trigger stole the hearts of millions of fans of the universe all over the world," Nielubowicz said. "The series was praised by critics and hit the Netflix top 10 lists in 19 countries. The popularity of the anime series, along with the positive reception of the [Edgerunners] update, visibly affected unit sales of Cyberpunk."

It's even funnier when you think that back in the 90s and before they outsourced episodes of Batman and other cartoons to Japan. What a fall from grace
>Isn't it pathetic how american animation has to pretend to be japanese after utterly destroying every resemblance of reputation it used to have?
Well, they tried their best to destroy the western comic book industry and they succeeded.
Animation's never been respected in the west though. It's always been held to a lower standard, either seen as something for kids or crummy sitcom formulae. At this point the stigma towards animation as being for kids or being a crappy episodic sitcom has been entrenched for decades so the only way they can market something with a serious, serial story is to call it "anime".
Comics are fire and forget. Spinning up a big two comic takes work by about 5 people. Some of those just part time, including the writers who often write multiple books simultaneously. And since these books launch with just tiny scraps of story as their first few issues, it is incredibly fast to do. Especially when they have multiple artists for one book.
Thus comic book publishers really don't do remotely as much editorial work as you'd think. Oftentimes they just launch dozens of books at once and then just let the absolute garbage drown by natural selection within a few months only to immediately let the same people come up with something else.
Comic writers have absolute garbage ideas all the time. But then some of the best stories in comics have a synopsis like an absolute madman came up with it so I do get not wanting to stifle anyone.
Then again comics also notoriously thrive on outrage, which is its whole separate thing. If you're mad, chances are someone wanted to make you mad to gain your attention. Don't ask me why that would help sales but it somehow works on the average comic buying nerd since they've done it for decades now.
That comic failed incredibly hard. You know something's bad when the kind of people who STILL read westoid comics don't like it.

what is that? I don't know how to look up youtube popular stuff
all my reccomendations are just vidya stuff and baalbuddy comic dubs (that I have never watched even once)
Legit cute and funny song especially if you understand the lyrics. Westoids don't realize that the song is about being a e-girl and abusing the fact that grown men want to frick you. Song follows a Vtuber mama (woman who makes the art for the vtuber model) who made herself a e-girl version. This version was very popular hence the song to also promote the new model. The song is upbeat and catchy which is all westoids need. Most of them listen to sex, guns, and Black folk rapping about "their struggle" all day without understanding what the lyrics mean. They do the same for Jap songs that get popular. Animation is also fluid and the dance is cute and funny as well

Netflix exists to make money. Their service is a streaming service and they have competitors.
Their entire business model is filling their catalog up with recognizable names so when you're trying to choose which streaming service to pay into you'd consider the one with all of those things you've always heard about.
Oh and the quality of the shows doesn't actually matter. Just put some race swaps and unnecessary gays in it so people will talk about it on twatter and reddit (and Ganker). This will trick normies into thinking the show is relevant because it's good.

man they really are clinging to that for everything, even the DMC show being done by the Korra people
does "cartoon" really have that bad of a stigma?
The same cookie cutter boss b***h shit that they copied from black women since black boys cannot properly handle them. All a facsimile to make women seem like they can handle themselves, way too tryhard. Old Lara used to be high energy with optimism.
Cartoons that's seemingly mature with dark and gritty atmosphere, along with characters drawn in human proportions, is now somehow considered "anime" now
That's not "anime", that's woke style animation.
What was that garbage on Amazon or Netflix with the adventuring band? They were all gay or some shit? I didn't finish the first episode.
They also tried to be edgy with a bunch of killing and cussing in a tavern.
im sure everyone has said it already, but lara croft is a white, caucasian, biological female of the heteroesexual persuasion (as in attracted to biological males who look masculine), with gigantic huge breasts

>The Terror (2018)
Yeah 5 years ago. I have already seen that boat kino. Next kino when?
The Lighthouse (2019)
I too enjoyed the gay kissing scene.
I'm more impressed that its 3h30m long than the fact no women speak in it.
Old movies tended to be a lot longer, and the movie is from the '60s.
Decision to Leave came out last year.
New Tomb Raider game almost out
animopron.com
>"""""anime"""""
man they really are clinging to that for everything, even the DMC show being done by the Korra people
does "cartoon" really have that bad of a stigma?
The same cookie cutter boss b***h shit that they copied from black women since black boys cannot properly handle them. All a facsimile to make women seem like they can handle themselves, way too tryhard. Old Lara used to be high energy with optimism.
Cartoons that's seemingly mature with dark and gritty atmosphere, along with characters drawn in human proportions, is now somehow considered "anime" now
>shitted
It's all so tiresome
>netflix
lol
If you watch this you don't belong here.
when was the last time we had an original series? nowadays everything is an adaption, reboot of sequel of an 90's or 80's IP.
Just wait until we get reboots of the reboots. Pokemon did it already.
One just released 21 days ago.

This shit doesn't work in live action. Why do they never learn?
It's over isn't it. Gaming will never come back to its former glory.
That's not "anime", that's woke style animation.
What was that garbage on Amazon or Netflix with the adventuring band? They were all gay or some shit? I didn't finish the first episode.
They also tried to be edgy with a bunch of killing and cussing in a tavern.
>that animation
im sure everyone has said it already, but lara croft is a white, caucasian, biological female of the heteroesexual persuasion (as in attracted to biological males who look masculine), with gigantic huge breasts
any other 'interpretation' of her is objectively incorrect and a transparent attempt to supplant yet another white cultural icon
>Anime is when big boob and pointy chin
Thanks, Netflix.
Netflix
Dropped instantly.
Dont give a frick.
You had your chance with Male raped alucard
Why did they make her American 'white' rather than British white?
because british "White" is just ukrainian israelite, according to you
Is the 2013 Tomb Raider any good?
I got it in a humble bundle but never played it becuse it looked like those Uncharted games.
It's like uncharted only shitter.
Entire levels are just corridors.
Lara is a whiny insufferable c**t.
Combat is god turd.
Story is dog turd.
If you like shit games then it's right up your street
>Western cartoons are labelled "anime", because of both desperation and whenever they're not part of the Family Guy/BoJock/Bluey/Steven Universe sphere
We'll never get another Bakshi, right?
What about Peter Chung?
I was just thinking about a timeline where Angel of Darkness was not rushed and decent enough to produce more games that went over the rebooted games
>Tomb Raider games have become more about YASS QUEEN SLAY THOSE MEN, instead of focusing on the supernatural horrors that should not be disturbed in an ancient and forgotten tomb.
Not just in a tomb, Angel of Darkness literally had a segment in a asylum full of experiments
The rebooted series never followed on that, the supposed triology that never came to be would have likely done so
I still replay it from time to time. Love the Paris and Louvre sections
>Netflix
>anime
you can only have one
edgerunners and great pretender are both anime
you are right though that netflix calls western/korean cartoons anime all the time so you can't really trust them, but they do fund actual anime from time to time
I don't know those two but if it's not made in Japan by Japanese people it's not anime.
>netflix
>”anime”
No, frick off shill
