C&C filtered everyone back in the day that didn't learn the way of sandbag walls. Unless you were playing the N64 port where they gave the AI the ability to target and shoot your walls out
is the remaster good?
I never buy anything on release, I always wait a while to see reviews
It's good with the tank controls, which thankfully are the default, at least on PC. Only downsides I have with it is 30fps in the classic graphics, and zero graphical options. I'm going to guess it ties its resolution to your current desktop. Outside of the redone visuals and realtime classic/remastered toggle (F1 key), it's a pretty no-frills package.
It seems to be faithful, with the graphics toggleable between original and remastered. Same thing with the controls: the original tank controls or modern analogue ones. It's also a hell of a lot more convenient than getting the original trilogy running on modern systems, what with all the different fan ports and recreations never supporting all three games at the same time
>tank controls still exist >can switch to old graphics by pressing start >no performance issues on Steam Deck (can play it at 4k 60fps easily docked) >some remade textures look genuinely good
Now for the bad.
>modern controls are not thought out at all (doesn't bother me as I won't use them) >modern graphics have issues with areas being way too fricking dark in some cases >modern textures tile a lot, for example you can see tiling in the first level on cave walls pretty clearly compared to original graphics
I legit dig the new lighting. I guess "gane too dark" is only an issue in TR1, where you don't have access to flares. But the new lighting overall is REALLY good.
>modern textures tile a lot
there is no getting around that, it's a product of how the game's level geometry is built with deformable cube segments rather than geometry brushes
>it's a product of how the game's level geometry is built with deformable cube segments rather than geometry brushes
I'm a brainlet ut genuinely interested, could you elaborate please?
It's literally a grid-based engine, and that translates even to Lara's movement. >1 hop=1 block >running jump=2 blocks
And so on.
Measuring the distance with blocks to platform properly was a key to success.
>>no performance issues on Steam Deck (can play it at 4k 60fps easily docked)
Also, in relation to this. Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy should also run well in the Linux Steam Client, as it also uses proton like the Steamdeck. I will have to try it out when I pick up Tomb Raider Trilogy.
yeah i just watched somebody playing with the modern controls and he cant line up the climbing because of it and im getting mad watching him suck dick at the game.
im requesting that resident evil meme about people who cant do tank controls being morons.
Sounds like you haven't seen enough AI weirdness to be able to identify it at a glance. Particularly lazy on the devs' part, since it's a repeating pattern for which they only need to do the work of designing one tile.

You may not, but there are people with standards that do
Like was said the low res texture has a clear repeating pattern on the border. The highres shows a characteristic AI nonsensical semirandom pattern that is not typically used in ornaments.
Like was said the low res texture has a clear repeating pattern on the border. The highres shows a characteristic AI nonsensical semirandom pattern that is not typically used in ornaments.
it is, look at the border
I am pretty sure it's 50/50. Some texture are most likely upscaled, some are made from the ground up.
fair. pic related border is clearly manually done it's not got the randomness
>it's thor, it's in the thor room in greece tr1
What do you know, it's been ages since I've played the games. Kind of looking forward to playing through them again
The annoying thing with this is that they could easily circumvent the weird patterns even with AI if they added some extra effort. Controlnet would make this look significantly better
>Children who only found out about Lara Croft from the shitty movie game "reboot" excited to play Lara Croft Tomb Raider for the first time while getting reminded that racism and opression is le bad
Locked. That said, this port does nothing fancy visually besides some light bleed in the environment onto your character model, so if it couldn't do 60fps on Switch it'd have been embarrassing for the developer. If anything, all versions should be capable of 120fps output, not sure why that's a PC exclusive.
how do i do the jump and twist thing they added into tr1 on tank controls? how do I swan dive? none of this shit is explained, I did the tutorial and referenced the keybinds to figure shit out but they don't explain either of these things
To swandive, press walk and jump simultainously. To do a handstand, press walk while climbing. To do a jump-roll, press jump and roll simultaniously.
Doing a swandive recklessly is the quickest way to get yourself killed.
I am enjoying it. I'm at the Cistern.
Bro, you can BARELY see the rusty keys with the new graphics. I literally walked over the first one without even noticing.
There was a graphic glitch where a water surface was replaced by a fricking painting, lol. I'm on PS4.
Another nitpick, I didn't like the lack of glitter effect on the Midas death animation.
>There was a graphic glitch where a water surface was replaced by a fricking painting
That seemed intentional to me, since it's in a secret room. Like an Easter egg.
Anyone else not have any achievements on steam? It was there when i played earlier today but now there are zero achievements. They also seem to have stealth removed their moronic RACISM disclaimer in the beginning lmao
>trophy requires you to do the corner bug to get the unreachable medkit in Midas
devs are fricking trolls
also apparently an item in Atlantis is literally impossible to pick up so you can't get the all items trophy
Here I was hoping there wouldn't be achievements tied to collecting all of the shit. I just want the one-off stage gimmick achievements, and perhaps per-stage speedruns. No level select sucks to replay previous levels, unless I'm not looking in the right place for it.
i'm just tinkering and listening to venice violins in lara's music hall
am i missing something or are the modern controls completely useless? they offer none of the precision of tank controls
Mid. I guess good enough if you are a zoomer that can't conprehend character-based movement, but abysmal if you want to do precise platforming this game requires you to do.
Modern controls can frick off and there are minor glitches here and there. Aside from that, the game fricks.
Unless you were born after 2006, which you'll get filtered in the first room of the game.
>played the originals on pc back in the 90s >played the new (legend and anniversary and underworld) on controller >having a nightmare of a time learning the tank controls on controller
I put on modern controls for about two seconds and realized it doesn’t translate at all. I need better button mapping. Like x needs to be jump maybe. Not sure how to make it better.
I love the skyboxes and all but none of the levels take place underground now... I always imagined the Coliseum to be underground even though that makes zero sense
4 & 5 don't hold up enough on their own to warrant another collection (especially 5), and there's no way they're doing 4-6 to round out a second package with how 6 would need far more work than the first three games in this Remaster combined.
Depends on the money this release will generate. Could be a 15 bucks release in 2 years. Remasters like that, especially with the same engine, are just a manpower problem, throw enough pajeets at it, and you solve it.
They did. The engine was slightly modified, though. But not to the level that the remaster can't handle it.
Seriously, Aspyr is doing some real magic with that janky, old engine.
Didn't know that. I'd settle for 4 and 5 being remade as their own package, though. I think the first three were meant to be a finished trilogy, but the publisher kept pushing for more games
Nah. It was never considered a trilogy, just "milk as many games in a row as you can", to the point devs trolled Eidos and killed off Lara in TR4, so they can focus on something else instead.
And then Eidos told them to make TR5.
And TR5 is one game that Core couldn't give less of a frick about.
I feel like TR5 is the one game that people wouldn't mind getting an actual remake instead of just upgraded graphics.I played it recently and it's soulless as hell. Just overhaul everything about it and release each flashback as a separate game.

It's literally slapped together from some scrapped levels from previous games that didn't make the control pass.
But if there is one game that I would rather give a remake treatment, it would be AoD. TR5 is a nothingburger nobody cares about. But a remake of AoD...

I would actually like to see an AoD remake too, and hopefully the 2 other games Core planned to make after that
Didn't know that, either. For some reason the first three games are firmly grouped together in my head, and everything since feels like standalone titles. Maybe it's just the sequels using II and III in their titles. Would have been nice to have 4 included if that game was meant to be the ending of the series, though since there were more games since I guess it doesn't matter either way

1-3 are pretty much the same game, 4 was the first proper sequel.

Eh, 2 and 3 were essentially the same game, because 3 started as an expansion pack to 2, until Eidos forced the devs to turn it into a proper sequel mid-development.
The technology skip between TR1 to TR2 was similar to the skip between TR3 and TR4.
Probably because the only people who got early access to it are those that are known for playing TR games. That certainly was the case for YouTubers, with every video starting with "I've been playing these games for decades" or "I speedrun these games"
I played the originals back in the day on my friend's PC. They always held a certain magic for me with the environments, which is the only reason I'm interested in replaying them
>game assets were mastered for 1080p >game runs 4K on PS5/XSX/PC
At the fricking least make the menu/load graphics 4K. Wouldn't have hurt also if all of the tile graphics were 1Kx1K instead of 512x512, but I'll take what I can get I guess. Actually surprised all of the DDS textures are just sitting out there raw in the folder. No resource packing.
That's because it literally is, most of the actual work was done by modders that Aspyr hired. >Developer of OpenLara (and Starfield's Rendering Director) >Guy that was making the textures for TR3's HD remaster mod >Guy who decompiled TR3-4-5 to make the new fan ports
There are more but I haven't seen the credits yet
>>Guy who decompiled TR3-4-5 to make the new fan ports
Doubt they'd use someone like that when Aspyr had access to the original Tomb Raider source code for this collection. If they had TR1-3's source, then that also means 4-6 was preserved as well.
>Modern graphics have flickering bugs, some texture issues, the braid bugs out, missing water effects and lighting related bugs where some areas are too dark, causing you to miss pickups >Modern controls are completely scuffed to the point I sincerely believe whoever planned these was moronic, there's no point in using them. Swimming's scuffed and so are the skidoo's in TR2, they reverse and fire with the same button kek so you can't even control them properly if you're firing. >Some levels have bugs like St Francis' Folly where the water is drained before you start and the pillar puzzle room in Palace Midas which is already destroyed >No graphics settings to speak of >Can't even map flares to a controller, but you can on keyboard >Cinematics bug out >Saves are broken on GOG
I'll add that there's a couple of small things as well.
When pulling/pushing blocks Lara doesn't continue pushing/pulling while holding the ctrl key, instead ending the push/pull and jumping or whatever, this kind of sucks.
Also when mapping look to num0 (as makes sense and is in the originals), there is what I assume is a glitch where look mode becomes locked and movements aren't received, meaning with the right combination of button presses you can be locked out of things like grabbing a ledge. I'm not sure if this is a game issue or some weird interaction between the game and my computer though.
Holy frick I get it now.
I just got done with the Tutorial (Lara's Mansion)
These Tank controls are brilliant, there's a lot more depth to them than I ever thought Tank Controls could have.
I always preferred Tank Controls in Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but I never thought they'd be good for a platforming game.
The amount of Polish and quality put into Tomb Raider, the original itself not the remake since it uses the same gameplay, is insane.
I always watched gameplay and thought "man Tank controls to jump over large gaps? How would you even position yourself, how would you even gauge it, how would the fine tuning of positioning work?"
But they thought of it all, it feels incredible to play.
And like, it's the most responsive Tank Controls I've felt in long ass while.
Outside of the obvious differences between the games, I now understand why people actually prefer these controls.
It's a puzzle in of itself.
It actually feels like you're a Gymnast, Acrobatic, thinking of all these small nuances yourself.
It's actually unironically more immersive than the Free Running in Assassin's Creed.
Only thing the devs didn't think of was having a "Jump but only jump when at the edge of a platform" button hold, so you didn't need to do the walk-to-edge/hop-back/do running-forward-jump dance 10 times a level.
But anon, you can?
You gotta hold the walk button, but you can press jump then press the direction button.
It doesn't race into it like it normally does
Square Enix has moved on from Tomb Raider years ago. Now it's an Embracer property, which is the only reason you are getting those remasters.
Crystal Dynamics still hold the rights, though. And they are salty, indeed.
No, they ripped off Prince of Persia but in 3D, then Prince of Persia 3D came out later and failed. Your 3D Zeldas were just Megaman Legends ripoffs, troony.
...no? They were Prince of Persia rip-offs, but in 3D. Which led to later PoP games ripping off Tomb Raider, which led to later Tomb Raider games ripping off PoP.
It's a very in-bred process.
What are you searching for? >New graphics (then remaster with tank controls) >New controls but the best possible graphics in the original (OpenLara) >Tank controls, best way to play the original with any enhancements you want including the jump twist they added here (TR1x)
TR1x has the most QOL if you want to play the original as is, OpenLara doesn't have as much but it does have good modern controls and fancy water if that's your thing (I'm no fan of it)
Wow this is not at all how I remembered this as a kid. From my memory, I thought you had to avoid going down the river or it'd plop you into the valley with the T Rex and he'd just basically kill you - I thought the name of the game was river platforming until you get the shotgun and then you can feasibly take him on.
Instead the rapids never dropped you directly into the valley, you couldn't even do the full platforming around the rapids because you needed gears to get the shotgun, you couldn't get the shotgun period before the T Rex (well I guess you could if you wanted to jump the broken bridge with him around but that seems highly inconvenient), and the T Rex itself is a joke - you just avoid the fricker until you can gat gat gat him from a vantage point
Anyways just toasted Larson and after immediately getting mauled by lions and forced to reload a Peru save and then getting back to just before the lions and so I can properly save, I think I will be calling it here for the night
>AI upscaled textures + new control scheme that no one bothered playtesting >Lara's new 3D model is literally the only good thing in these remasters
This is garbage, give me more Anniversary style remakes instead
Why were people expecting anything good from Aspyr, the shekel hoarder's favorite porting studio? If it weren't for the rabid classic fans shilling this, no one would give a shit. I'll even give them the modern graphics, but when the new controls you're selling as a feature point are fricked what even is the point kek
>but when the new controls you're selling as a feature point are fricked what even is the point kek
Tomb Raider will never work with anything but the original controls, it was so tightly designed around it. No doubt adding a "modern" control scheme came from above in order to entice zoomies but implementing such a thing is both a waste of time and impossible.
OpenLara has a good enough implementation. Even my zoomer sibs were able to get into the game almost instantly with it. Everything wrong with the modern controls here is on Aspyr kek.
I hate ChudStal Dynamics too, stop with the marketer responses blaming others for everything. The modern controls are shit because they're planned out poorly, that's all.
I wish OpenLara supported more games than just TR1, there'd be no point to these crappy remasters
Me too, but the guy keeps getting distracted by porting to other platforms. I doubt he'll ever finish 2 or 3 kek, still believe some fans will come around and port his controls to the others someday.
>KB+M or controller
Your choice, with classic controls both are OK so go with whatever's comfy. Try getting used to the D-Pad, you won't need to remap anything. I would however map whichever button the game has mapped for Flares to a spare button on your controller using Joy2Key (it's set to some button on your keyboard, go to remap controls using your keyboard to find out)
Other than that there's nothing that needs touching.
personally I go with keyboard controls rebinded around the home keys. Generally WASD + JKL; and their neighboring keys for action commands like flares, sprinting, crawl, ect.
Did you play the originals on a PS1 emulator? My cousin plays like that, it's because the emulator she used had IJKLYUOP mapped to the PS1's buttons and WASD to Directions.
I don't like that the surface of the water stream in Lost Valley doesn't clearly tell you the direction of the current in the new graphics, but they do in the original. Feels very lazy by the devs, you clearly hear the loud water rushing through but the water looks still.
Nope, only 28 years old. Just not a tasteless homosexual that enjoys a linearized, casualized remake with magnetized Crystal Dynamics "platforming" and QTEs
Anniversary is kind of awful despite it being the least worst of the newer games.
It's a just a casualized and streamlined best of TR1 with Legend controls. Gone are the actual platforming and the intricate level design.
idk, I thought it was about as fun as the Prince of Persia games (the Sands trilogy), except for the awful QTE bosses, those sucked but that was a popular trend at the time
honestly thought it would just be nostalgia for about 20 minutes and I would drop it, like spyro. The gameplay is actually refreshing. Feels very good to get used to the controls. Still feels tense and satisfying while progressing through the levels
The centaurs at the entrance of Tihocan should look much brighter than they do, you can barely notice them when you get out of the water
And holy shit the keys in this part of the game were nearly invisible, people are gonna have a hard time with that
>should look much brighter than they do
The new lighting system means a lot of enemies and objects are either much darker or brighter than they should be, and a lot of areas end up being much darker too, often these contain items needed for progression so rip
The new graphics are quite darker because of the natural lighting
However there's ceiling holes in many places now that let light in so it feels somewhat less oppressive
I mean, they had to justify the light coming from nowhere in the original game.
I am curious about what magic did they use to carve up a hole in the ceiling that isn't there when you switch to old graphics.
Depending on the area they completely ruin it, like with The Floating Islands. The game's a lot more colorful and not having that dark faded look due to limited draw distance basically means it doesn't have that many spooky isolated vibes. India's another good example, it feels like a spooky jungle in the original but it has a more "magical adventure" vibe in the new one.
If anything, the new lighting makes it even spookier, to the point people keep switching to the old graphics, because the game is too dark.
Unless you are upset that Lost Valley is now a bright, outdoor area.
If there's one thing I wish the original game let me do, it'd be letting me turn during a side jump so I can sorta circle-strafe enemies via jumps. Fricking hell I forgot how bad the combat gets once an enemy runs into your hitbox.
>Adding a couple inches of magnetism for ledges from a straight vertical jump >Automate holding onto climbable surfaces >Make Lara's animation not twitch awkwardly from mid-jump to "arms held out to grab hold of something" if you jump with the grab button held >Speed up the block pushing 200% >Increase wall climbing speed over time the longer you hold the direction >Actual quickload/quicksave slots that skip the menu >Shoot at another target when the current one dies, without having to repress your fire button >Level select w/ current progression and recorded stats per-level >Increase interaction distance for puzzle elements and item pickups

I found it interesting that the camera behavior differs depending on whether you're in classic or remastered visuals. Remastered generally tries to keep Lara's head out of the center of the frame and follow behind her a little more loosely, and drawing your weapons pulls the camera further back and up to give a better view of what's ahead of her.
90% of reviewers didn't have a good time with this game.
But their "this shit is so dated, why do we even bother with this remaster" attitude is cancer.
that's really awesome. I think this is my last favorite level. Lot's of slow down and a bit boring visual design with some of the hardest puzzles/"mazes" in the game. Now I will enjoy it much more.
I'm curious to what extent they polished up existing levels across the games as far as map adjustments and foliage additions go. There were some parts of the early TR1 levels where a room was empty of detail where the original had hanging vines.
For the most part it's mostly just seeing the odd ceiling hole added to give some excuse as to why there's light visible in the caves/interiors, which I'm fine with.
Oh, wow, that really is a glow up. From what I've seen, Atlantis looks the weakest because the devs probably ran out of ideas how to make it look good.
Yep, that's pretty much the trend in every game. The earliest levels are the most impressive, the later ones look very weak and the expansions are 50-50, there's a mix of impressive and meh.
Playing with modern controls I have to wonder, why is there no modifier key to to all those flips instead of having to draw your weapons? From what I see in the menus, RB is still free in the controller configs, would it have really been impossible to add it as a modifier so you could do your jumps without weapons drawn?
Yes and no. I made sure my speakers are the only active device. did you catch the release thread? an anon had the same issue on steam but I'm on FRICKING GOG.
Not that anon but I know what's causing the issue, the game uses open libraries to handle a lot of shit. OpenAL does have issues like that on certain systems related to a failed device capture event, only the devs can fix it, and they probably won't. Maybe if that anon uses some sort of virtual audio device app so the game feeds that virtual device first, but that's too much work for a user.
It's safe to say that if it didn't take when I made it the default device for steam and tr that it's not gonna work huh?

Nope, other people have this issue too. I'd say either: 1) refund 2) wait for an update 3) one last thing you can try is to uninstall your graphics driver, don't install a new one, the generic driver Windows uses for audio is usually built to handle exceptions like this but you'll lose your shader cache and many other settings so I definitely don't recommend this.

Frick man, this was my most anticipated game of the year, really. I might just refund and get this on console. Thanks for the help, that did seem like it was gonna work kek

No worries, end users shouldn't be forced to address issues caused by incompetent people that didn't test out the product they were selling. If you're still in a tinkering mood and have some free space on your drive, the absolute last roll of the dice is to run the game in a Linux VM, you'd have to install Ubuntu or something in a VM and play it there, that will give you audio but again, too much work.

I've got Ubuntu on an old laptop somewhere around here- might try that because it sounds hilarious and if I'm working I can't sit and SEETHE.
>play remastered 1 for a couple of hours >come back and see that it got some minor update >my save is just fricking gone with no trace
Oh frick right off. Tempted to get a refund.
but as far as I know it's the tribes who are in an area known to have tribes were are cannibals, are cannibals. Also chinese people are traditionally chinese and not modern shenzen businessmen with instagram
There aren't even any Chinese people in TR2. It's all Tibetan monk vs the Italian mob.
Which makes me wonder what the devs were smoking to come up with the plot for TR2.
>New Tomb Raider reboot >Lara is trans >The game opens with a scene of her fricking Larson in the ass to put him in his place >Von Croy and Pierre Dupont are lovers
The few zoomers I know dropped and refunded already, saw some on Steam they dropped the game too, Twitch as well. It's because the modern controls are fricked.
Windows 7 is a problematic depiction that promotes harmful stereotypes made during times when we didn't know better, Valve and Aspyr are proud to move past such times and drop support for it.
Ok so I played for an hour.
I'm not gonna say tank controls are bad because I like Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
But I sure as shit am not feeling like solving puzzles, platforming and aiming the camera using them.
I'm actually digging the vibe though so I'll keep playing some more using the modern basedscheme instead.
>The modern controls are actually million times more clunky and imprecise.
Can you elaborate what makes them unprecise? I haven't run into any issues so far other than having to draw weapons to do back/side flips
There are sections where you need to do ramp hopping, and you to need to jump backwards, so that you propel yourself off the ramp facing forward and grap the ledge of the oppposite wall. It's very easy to do with tank controls, but insanely fiddly with the new controls, where you need to either draw weapons, jump backwards, sheathe weapons and then push a grab button or jump forwards towards the ramp, roll in the air and grab in a very short window of time. It's another unnecessary wrinkle in a game that's all about precise controls.
It's not based on sales but revenue. That includes in-game purchases too and PUG is very profitable.
Do you think the remaster can kickstar a wave of 3D action/adventure platformers? Hopefully with some semblance of art direction and not being a soulless rip-off?

PCGamer >game too old and too hard, why remaster it?

>the image for the bit complaining about racism is a screenshot of one of the fricking fredos
Lazy as shit. At least put the ooga booga cannibal from 3 there. Thinking about it, literally all of the human enemies in the original trilogy aside from the tribesmen are westerners.

Are the cannibals the only really racist thing in these games? Or are there other offensive ethnic stereotypes?
The journalists are just upset about the game that was always tongue in cheek. It's like being upset that GTA characters are walking stereotypes or that Mario has a sombrero. It's just a deliberately goofy game.

I mean, it depends on whether it's just humor (like in Mario or Dragon Quest) or actually degrades an ethnic group and portrays them as "lesser" people

All npcs in Tomb Raider games divide into one-note stereotypes that Lara shoots and one-note stereotypes that Lara shoots a bit later, so I don't think devs have any particular stance on what means to be a lesser human.

Well, no wonder the journos are spinning this "posh British woman cleaning up the turdworlders" narrative
>caring about useless content farms
No one pays attention to them these days. The real reviewers are youtubers now, and that's why every fricking TR youtuber got an early copy
With tank controls, up and action. Jump is unnecessary. Whike holding up, walk and action will have Lara do a cute handstand.
With mordern controls - fricked if I know.
With tank controls, you press walk to swan dive and handstand, yes. And in order to do swan dive acrobatics, you mash jump, IIRC. There is also a new move in TR3 where you tumble on the ground, that's crouch + sprint.
With modern controls - I have no fricking idea.
That's not an achievment. But there are more users playing this than nuRaider.

Just had a wee nudge around, here's some thoughts albeit very few; >The prerendered cutscenes have been ai upscaled. They don't look 'too' bad but the one for Croft Manor is especially noticeable >Swap graphics literally at any time. Yes at ANY time. aforementioned cutscene? Yup. Main/regular menu? Sure. Loading screen? You bet. >Modern controls are pretty good. Lara automatically grips onto surfaces and her movements are snappy. >Lara seems to keep shooting a target even once it's dead. Pretty sure this was in the original too but it is weird. >Issues with modern controls is that her jumps still need to be timed to some degree, the control scheme is almost entirely different because frick you and, for some reason, she can't backflip which means the very first secret in the very first game in unreachable because you can't jump backwards. Not game breaking but still a massive oversight (unless I'm missing something but I pressed everything). >To quit the game or back out to the menu, you need to open the inventory, go down, open the book and press right a couple times. I was alt+f4'ing until I found this out by accident. Have no idea why it just didn't get its own option in the menu. >When you switch graphics, the old TR is 30 FPS (maybe lower, idk) while new TR is a crisp 60. Not a complaint, just something worth mentioning cause I thought it was neat. >Audio is significantly better. No artifacting or any crunchy noises. >Obviously the graphics look incredible. This really wasn't a simple 1-1 job, they had to make hundreds, probably thousands of 3D models and they all look good.
Final verdict: heavy recommendation. The price is really decent and if you hate Embracer Group then just get it off *cough that one GOG site *cough just delete the Steam.api file and you can save alright.
It's totally reachable, you just need t9 be creative about it. >Climb from the OTHER side of the ramp. >Jump forward, rollflip and grab the ledge. >Draw your guns and do backflip, because Lara remembers that she can do backflips with her guns drawn.
But I agree that's a lot of unnecessary faff to do a very simple thing, that's been very intuitive previously.
Tried it for a few minutes
Classic graphics: getting a lot of micro freezes/stutter for some reason
New graphics: unironically soulless, it looks like garbage. Only pro is smoother framerate because for some reason classic is locked at like 30
Tried the "modern" controls and it's unplayable lol, even zoomers will get more filtered with these
I've played TR2 ages ago, but I remember that one part with "climb up, jump backwards onto a ramp, grab a ladder, jump backwards, do a 180 mid-air, grab a ladder...". I was so proud of myself when I beat that level.
Never did, never have
Those two phrases mean the same thing moron
He posted Life is Tumblr, it's like you're speaking to a brick wall
Lust is Stranger is better
is the remaster good?
I never buy anything on release, I always wait a while to see reviews
I would say it's on the level of Command & Conquer remaster. A really solid remaster that similarly to C&C is going to filter A LOT of zoomies.
C&C filtered everyone back in the day that didn't learn the way of sandbag walls. Unless you were playing the N64 port where they gave the AI the ability to target and shoot your walls out
It's good with the tank controls, which thankfully are the default, at least on PC.
It's also a hell of a lot more convenient than getting the original trilogy running on modern systems, what with all the different fan ports and recreations never supporting all three games at the same time
wtf you can just download a stolen gog.com version and it works fine. wtf are you evne talking about.
only reason why you'd wanna pay for this is the upgraded graphics.
I was talking about the fan ports, like TR1X, TR2Main, OpenTomb, OpenLara, OpenRaider, etc. You can play it fine in DOSBox
>tank controls still exist
>can switch to old graphics by pressing start
>no performance issues on Steam Deck (can play it at 4k 60fps easily docked)
>some remade textures look genuinely good
Now for the bad.
>modern controls are not thought out at all (doesn't bother me as I won't use them)
>modern graphics have issues with areas being way too fricking dark in some cases
>modern textures tile a lot, for example you can see tiling in the first level on cave walls pretty clearly compared to original graphics
I legit dig the new lighting. I guess "gane too dark" is only an issue in TR1, where you don't have access to flares. But the new lighting overall is REALLY good.
the original graphics also have terrible tiling
>modern textures tile a lot
there is no getting around that, it's a product of how the game's level geometry is built with deformable cube segments rather than geometry brushes
>it's a product of how the game's level geometry is built with deformable cube segments rather than geometry brushes
I'm a brainlet ut genuinely interested, could you elaborate please?
I was under the impression it was more similar to descent but it looks like tiles on a grid instead
It's literally a grid-based engine, and that translates even to Lara's movement.
>1 hop=1 block
>running jump=2 blocks
And so on.
Measuring the distance with blocks to platform properly was a key to success.
it's impressive how much mileage they got out of a fairly archaic system
>>no performance issues on Steam Deck (can play it at 4k 60fps easily docked)
Also, in relation to this. Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy should also run well in the Linux Steam Client, as it also uses proton like the Steamdeck. I will have to try it out when I pick up Tomb Raider Trilogy.
yeah i just watched somebody playing with the modern controls and he cant line up the climbing because of it and im getting mad watching him suck dick at the game.
im requesting that resident evil meme about people who cant do tank controls being morons.
Question: does St. Francis Folly still have Thor? That was a blooper, so I suppose Aspyr had the right to remove it.
Have to wait until I finish work….only 12 hours to go. How is it?
Get me pictures! Pictures of the atlantean mutants!
They have breasts now.
>censored
>le racism bad garbage every time you launch the game
>money going to Crystal Dynamics
No.
This. Was going to grab it but I can’t in good faith buy a game it’s own company declares is “offensive and outdated”
>a game it’s own company
the company that made that disclaimer didn't make the game
Hold on, why does the disclaimer look different in the txt file?
Wait, is this real?
its fake
I just confirmed my file says the same thing. Someone at aspyr is gonna get a talking to.
LOL, can anyone else confirm that this isn't an edit?
of course it's edited
what do you mean is it edited?
it's literally a notepad file
WTF LARA JUST FLEW OVER MY HOUSE
No, it's 100% real
The joke was played out 30 minutes ago.
yeah I'm still calling her laura. that's her name
>b-but um acktually according to section 53.1-c of the lore written by esteemed-
yeak ok nerd. idc
calling her Laura just shows you're a moronic mutt
if i wre to kill myself wgat would be tue best way?
Electric eel up the nostril
perchace
panties
huh
I wish I looked like Lara with a big futa wiener
>it's all just ai upscaled they said
soul vs soulless
I am pretty sure it's 50/50. Some texture are most likely upscaled, some are made from the ground up.
I'm an environment artist, the art all looks handmade to me, you can see telltale photoshop signs everywhere
Do you not see the border around the guy?
That's clearly terrible AI work.
that could be AI, using AI in games presents a legal issue right now though
Not "could be". It's AI slop 100% sure.
Sounds like you haven't seen enough AI weirdness to be able to identify it at a glance. Particularly lazy on the devs' part, since it's a repeating pattern for which they only need to do the work of designing one tile.
Nobody cares.
You may not, but there are people with standards that do
it is, look at the border
Like was said the low res texture has a clear repeating pattern on the border. The highres shows a characteristic AI nonsensical semirandom pattern that is not typically used in ornaments.
Was the original supposed to be a sphinx? I'm not sure why you'd have a Norse god in an area that's otherwise more South American or North African
it's thor, it's in the thor room in greece tr1
fair. pic related border is clearly manually done it's not got the randomness
>it's thor, it's in the thor room in greece tr1
What do you know, it's been ages since I've played the games. Kind of looking forward to playing through them again
same guy is in the neptune room so it's just generic ancient greek man
That border is literally 100% blatant AISlop. If it were made by a person it'd just be a tiled border because those are piss easy to do in photoshop.
Original looks better, remaster look like some unreal demo
The annoying thing with this is that they could easily circumvent the weird patterns even with AI if they added some extra effort. Controlnet would make this look significantly better
>Children who only found out about Lara Croft from the shitty movie game "reboot" excited to play Lara Croft Tomb Raider for the first time while getting reminded that racism and opression is le bad
TOO LATE FOR ABORTIONS NOW!
happy valentine's day, buddies (and happy early valentine's day for people still on the 13th)
i hope you all have a lovely date with lara
It's also her birthday
yes it is
Haven't played these games in decades, guess I could buy the remaster. How's it work on Switch? Decent performance?
1080p 60fps docked, 720p 60fps handheld.
And that's stable I'm assuming. Finally a good fricking port
Locked. That said, this port does nothing fancy visually besides some light bleed in the environment onto your character model, so if it couldn't do 60fps on Switch it'd have been embarrassing for the developer. If anything, all versions should be capable of 120fps output, not sure why that's a PC exclusive.
Yeah but I've seen ports on Switch that did nothing fancy yet still performed like trash so you never know
Yeah no dips according to digital foundry.
how do i do the jump and twist thing they added into tr1 on tank controls? how do I swan dive? none of this shit is explained, I did the tutorial and referenced the keybinds to figure shit out but they don't explain either of these things
>how do i do the jump and twist thing
press end in midair
>how do I swan dive
jump while holding walk
I thought so at first but it happens again later and it's clearly not intentional there
>tfw can never find secrets
you have to explore every nook and cranny of the level
Anyone else not have any achievements on steam? It was there when i played earlier today but now there are zero achievements. They also seem to have stealth removed their moronic RACISM disclaimer in the beginning lmao
I think the racism thing is for the 3rd game, I may be wrong.
But it's ok to genocide half the Italian mafia population in the 2nd one.
>trophy requires you to do the corner bug to get the unreachable medkit in Midas
devs are fricking trolls
also apparently an item in Atlantis is literally impossible to pick up so you can't get the all items trophy
Here I was hoping there wouldn't be achievements tied to collecting all of the shit. I just want the one-off stage gimmick achievements, and perhaps per-stage speedruns. No level select sucks to replay previous levels, unless I'm not looking in the right place for it.
just make a save at the start of every level
I wad worried about the corner bug but I managed to do it like fifth try. But now you have me worried about unobtainable achievements.
i'm just tinkering and listening to venice violins in lara's music hall
am i missing something or are the modern controls completely useless? they offer none of the precision of tank controls
How are modern controls?
Mid. I guess good enough if you are a zoomer that can't conprehend character-based movement, but abysmal if you want to do precise platforming this game requires you to do.
They're pretty useless in their current form. Camera control is nice but it fricks up a lot of other basic movement functions, shooting etc.
nude mod yet?
>POV: you are taller than 5'9
Girls will really look you dead in the eyes like this and complain you aren't tall enough
Why? Her being clothed is way hotter. Imagination is one hell of a drug, zoomie.

Well, there's the doppelganger if you want to go extreme...
hi
darn, they took downsized the spooky alien eyes it had.
I just realized they ripped off Tomb Raider in Annihilation.
hot DAYUM, they made the doppelganger even sexier than before:
As if we needed any more reasons to play this
would
Someone check if the remaster added swan dive acrobatics to TR1. Because they really should.
Im so tempted but the fact that classic mode is only 30 FPS pisses me off!!!
Is this a troll? Please be joking.
Are you moronic? Classic software mode is 30 fps on all systems.
>All walls in Greece now have penises
>now
Is this the unaltered offensive imagery?
>say lara, do you like penis?
I-is that a human train?
Give me a comprehensive list of things not good with this
Modern controls can frick off and there are minor glitches here and there. Aside from that, the game fricks.
Unless you were born after 2006, which you'll get filtered in the first room of the game.
i love this one, it's a real piece of minoan art
kino
I love it
The GOG overlay blacks out the whole screen when it's switched to Modern graphics. Pressing start changes it back with the overlay intact.
The Atlantean baby looks bad. I was hoping they are going to give him more of a glow-up, but he's barely different from his OG look.
HOW DO I SAVE THE FRICKING GAME
I THOUGHT I PRESSED SAVE BUT I GUESS I DIDN'T
REEEEEEEE
Savestaters btfo. Redo the level goy.
Gog version?
Steam
From the previous thread, some few anons said that the GOG version had some broken save stuff...
Should have gotten it on Steam, or pirated it (or maybe wait for the Switch version tomorrow?)
I got it on Steam
F5 ?
Remove steamapi64.dll from the game directory.
With modern controls
Press the back button
Then press down
Then press right
WHY ARE YOU NIGLETS ALREADY PALYING?????? IT UNLOCKS IN SEVEN HOURS!!!
it's out already
steam timer was wrong
>played the originals on pc back in the 90s
>played the new (legend and anniversary and underworld) on controller
>having a nightmare of a time learning the tank controls on controller
I put on modern controls for about two seconds and realized it doesn’t translate at all. I need better button mapping. Like x needs to be jump maybe. Not sure how to make it better.
Anyone playing this at 4K? Game has no grafix options and i have a 4k desktop and wondering about the performance dip.
>boobs smaller
fricking ruined
round boobs in shambles
They're the same size bro
I hope there will be a breast bounce mod
Personally I want an outfit switcher
Why the frick can I switch outfits on the fly for photo mod but not in game
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
original looks better
I love the skyboxes and all but none of the levels take place underground now... I always imagined the Coliseum to be underground even though that makes zero sense
Wait... what?
In St Francis? It WAS underground. Is Lost Valley now above-ground too?
Lost Valley was always above ground it just had a black sky cos of limitations
I always pictured it as a huge cavern in the mountian.
it's called a valley
It's archaic hag Lara instead of cute and huggable New Lara so no.
what a shit bait. try harder
Wrong and moronic. Nu-Lara is cute! CUTE!
Hag Lara is ugly! UGLY!
words cannot describe how unbelievably ugly nu-lara is
Eat shit
Classic Lara is back and continues to mog
Hows the switch port?
good
HOW IS THE PERFORMANCE, I HAVE A 4K DESKTOP AND THE GAMES USES DESKTOP RESOLUTION
I am playing at 4k, docked, on my Steam Deck on my TV right now
No issues
Sorry, I don't play ESG slop. I'll keep playing the originals, thanks.
how is this game ESG slop anon
they didnt censor or remove shit
Kinda hoping they add 4 & 5 as DLC to this at some point, just so we have the original series under one roof.
>as DLC
You have no idea how real life works.
4 & 5 don't hold up enough on their own to warrant another collection (especially 5), and there's no way they're doing 4-6 to round out a second package with how 6 would need far more work than the first three games in this Remaster combined.
all 5 games used the same engine
Depends on the money this release will generate. Could be a 15 bucks release in 2 years. Remasters like that, especially with the same engine, are just a manpower problem, throw enough pajeets at it, and you solve it.
Did 4 and 5 use the same engine and mechanics? Otherwise that'd be impossible
Windows 7 bros how are we holding up?
You're not.
>Windows 7 bros how are we holding up?
Time to switch to Linux and learn to love Proton... I guess? Though, I think the minimum requirement is Windows 7 64bit.
Playing the actual game and not your FOTM "remaster"?
How are the tank controls with the analog stick?
Having no issues.
I don't find it comfortable. I'm forced to play with the d pad of the frickin Xbox controller.
...Not the 360 controller, right? Right?
No but Xbox one d pad isn't made for movement either. It's stiff and clicky as shit.
There's just one thing this collection is missing.
Anyone have a look at the ini files yet? Can you modify graphic options that way?
There aren't any ini files homie
It respects the nVidia control panel enough for me to force 16xAF and 4xMSAA for crisper visuals.
The only thing she's good for is porn
this game is beautiful
Suprisingly, the base in Nevada looks really kino, because they have played around with lighting to make it look more gloomy.
>can't play until after work
aaaaaaaaaa everyone stop until I can join in
Done. I will resume the game in 3 hours bro
appreciated, thanks bro
Welcome to my world.
And after work, I will be busy throwing an obligatory birthday party.
None of you zoomers actually care about lara croft, you're only excited about it because it's the current hot new thing.
I care about Laora
Its also one of the best remakes from a technical standpoint, so theres that.
>best remake
Ground level bar.
That's not C&C Remastered. Least Petroglyph bothered to remaster the audio while they were at it, unlike this collection.
>tomb raider fan excited to play it for the first time
Exactly. 90% of the people hyped about this were shitting in diapers when the first game came out.
no way
have you seen the twitch streamers? literally every single one of them played it as a kid
The ones that didn't, drop it after 15 minutes.
Probably because the only people who got early access to it are those that are known for playing TR games. That certainly was the case for YouTubers, with every video starting with "I've been playing these games for decades" or "I speedrun these games"
none of the people i'm watching received early access
they all got it at the same time as everybody else
I played the originals back in the day on my friend's PC. They always held a certain magic for me with the environments, which is the only reason I'm interested in replaying them
You are old and childless grandpa
If he's childless, how is he a grandpa?
The grandson is adopted. Duh.
Lies, i deeply care about laura craft and always have

>game assets were mastered for 1080p
>game runs 4K on PS5/XSX/PC
At the fricking least make the menu/load graphics 4K. Wouldn't have hurt also if all of the tile graphics were 1Kx1K instead of 512x512, but I'll take what I can get I guess. Actually surprised all of the DDS textures are just sitting out there raw in the folder. No resource packing.
>Actually surprised all of the DDS textures are just sitting out there raw in the folder. No resource packing.
It really is like an HD texture mod pack. Great news for people who want to mod the game with their own textures.
That's because it literally is, most of the actual work was done by modders that Aspyr hired.
>Developer of OpenLara (and Starfield's Rendering Director)
>Guy that was making the textures for TR3's HD remaster mod
>Guy who decompiled TR3-4-5 to make the new fan ports
There are more but I haven't seen the credits yet
>>Guy who decompiled TR3-4-5 to make the new fan ports
Doubt they'd use someone like that when Aspyr had access to the original Tomb Raider source code for this collection. If they had TR1-3's source, then that also means 4-6 was preserved as well.
He is literally in the credits kek and he's even been mentioned in game as a shout out
CAN ANYONE OF YOU CHECK IF YOU CAN BRUTEFORCE DIFFERENT RESOLUTIONS!!!!!
Modding status? Can you play custom levels?
>Modern graphics have flickering bugs, some texture issues, the braid bugs out, missing water effects and lighting related bugs where some areas are too dark, causing you to miss pickups
>Modern controls are completely scuffed to the point I sincerely believe whoever planned these was moronic, there's no point in using them. Swimming's scuffed and so are the skidoo's in TR2, they reverse and fire with the same button kek so you can't even control them properly if you're firing.
>Some levels have bugs like St Francis' Folly where the water is drained before you start and the pillar puzzle room in Palace Midas which is already destroyed
>No graphics settings to speak of
>Can't even map flares to a controller, but you can on keyboard
>Cinematics bug out
>Saves are broken on GOG
>wait a month or two until they patch it
Got it: standard modern purchasing practice
Yeah, best to wait. Hopefully by then they'll add in basic features such as a level select and an outfit select.
>outfit select
Shouldn't be difficult, since it's part of the camera mode already
I'll add that there's a couple of small things as well.
When pulling/pushing blocks Lara doesn't continue pushing/pulling while holding the ctrl key, instead ending the push/pull and jumping or whatever, this kind of sucks.
Also when mapping look to num0 (as makes sense and is in the originals), there is what I assume is a glitch where look mode becomes locked and movements aren't received, meaning with the right combination of button presses you can be locked out of things like grabbing a ledge. I'm not sure if this is a game issue or some weird interaction between the game and my computer though.
Oh yes I forgot that, the game's input handler is bugged too. A lot of people reported their controller not being responsive for no reason.
It's actually unironically more immersive than the Free Running in Assassin's Creed.
well done, buddy, you've done it
you're now officially part of the cool™ club
Yes.
It doesn't race into it like it normally does
God I hope this sells well and makes Square Enix seethe
Square Enix has moved on from Tomb Raider years ago. Now it's an Embracer property, which is the only reason you are getting those remasters.
Crystal Dynamics still hold the rights, though. And they are salty, indeed.
I know they don't own the rights anon, that's why they'd be mad
>Crystal Dynamics still hold the rights, though.
embracer owns the rights now
Aren't these games dogshit compared to Zelda?? Wasn't the whole TR franchise literally a Zelda rip-off, just for PC/Playstation???
I know the latest ones are Uncharted clones, which only confirms my point that these games have no identity of their own.
eh, ok bait
I'll give you a 6/10, room for improvement
That uncharted bit at the end made it way too obvious
No, they ripped off Prince of Persia but in 3D, then Prince of Persia 3D came out later and failed. Your 3D Zeldas were just Megaman Legends ripoffs, troony.
>Your 3D Zeldas were just Megaman Legends ripoffs
How? They clearly stick to the design of 2D Zelda
>They clearly stick to the design of 2D Zelda
...no? They were Prince of Persia rip-offs, but in 3D. Which led to later PoP games ripping off Tomb Raider, which led to later Tomb Raider games ripping off PoP.
It's a very in-bred process.
>They were Prince of Persia rip-offs
dude what Sands of Time came out WAY later, I guess you're just too young to know
alright THAT was a good one
Honestly, I'm just interested to see how the enemy models are touched up, particularly the supernatural mutants and monsters.
Some are better, some are worse. They don't get as much glow-up as Lara. Enemies in TR1 especially look derpy a bit.

Remastered or TR1X
What are you searching for?
>New graphics (then remaster with tank controls)
>New controls but the best possible graphics in the original (OpenLara)
>Tank controls, best way to play the original with any enhancements you want including the jump twist they added here (TR1x)
TR1x has the most QOL if you want to play the original as is, OpenLara doesn't have as much but it does have good modern controls and fancy water if that's your thing (I'm no fan of it)

Black empty void, marketer-kun.
Tank controls hurt my hands
Pls someone help me !
Use the keyboard controls like god intended. I'm over in comfy-mode on the numpad for movement.
i'll massage your hands, bro
How does it play on the Switch?

What the frick is the point of the modren controls? Literally can't do any of the precision jumping with them.
>AI upscaled textures + new control scheme that no one bothered playtesting
>Lara's new 3D model is literally the only good thing in these remasters
Everything wrong with the modern controls here is on Aspyr kek.
frick off Crystalshit
I hate ChudStal Dynamics too, stop with the marketer responses blaming others for everything. The modern controls are shit because they're planned out poorly, that's all.
Me too, but the guy keeps getting distracted by porting to other platforms. I doubt he'll ever finish 2 or 3 kek, still believe some fans will come around and port his controls to the others someday.
I wish OpenLara supported more games than just TR1, there'd be no point to these crappy remasters
Is there a mod that replaces this weird Fortnite Lara with the Rise/Shadow Lara? I can't play it like this
I'll play with classic controls. KB+M or controller? Any advice on remapping the controls?
Keyboard only as is.
Playing a third person platformer/parkour game on the d-pad sounds completely insane to me. Your fingers will get cramped after 20 min.
That's how people played it back in the day, the game was built with the D-Pad in mind. Still, it should be easy enough on the analog too I guess.
personally I go with keyboard controls rebinded around the home keys.
Nah, I play the ones released on Steam.
5'9 vs 6'0
I'd rather have AI upscaled art than a human who doesn't know what they're doing. At least with AI you know it won't frick up and will be accurate.
>muh AI
reddit is that way
Shut up, newbie.
I've unfortunately been browsing this shithole of a website since 2006 and have nowhere better to go
I don't like that the surface of the water stream in Lost Valley doesn't clearly tell you the direction of the current in the new graphics, but they do in the original. Feels very lazy by the devs, you clearly hear the loud water rushing through but the water looks still.
It's clearly missing a lot of finishing touches
Theres no reason to play this over Anniversary.
There's no reason to play Anniversary over this.
t.boomer
Nope, only 28 years old. Just not a tasteless homosexual that enjoys a linearized, casualized remake with magnetized Crystal Dynamics "platforming" and QTEs
>only 28 years old
>only
no wonder bro is so ancient the nostalgia fountain must be overflowing
And holy shit the keys in this part of the game were nearly invisible, people are gonna have a hard time with that
>should look much brighter than they do
The new lighting system means a lot of enemies and objects are either much darker or brighter than they should be, and a lot of areas end up being much darker too, often these contain items needed for progression so rip
downloading now
let me see what some of you homosexuals were talking about this whole time
Does the new graphics destroy the spooky isolated vibes? The creepy dark atmosphere of the originals was pure kino
Extended draw distance and grey distance fog instead of pitch black takes away from the spooky feel a lot.
In some areas yes, but not much
The new graphics are quite darker because of the natural lighting
Fricking hell I forgot how bad the combat gets once an enemy runs into your hitbox.
it needs to be a little difficult because the game showers you with medkits for no reason, most enemies you can just jump away from as you shoot them
I end up using medkits more on my own jumping derps than I have encounters thus far, but I refuse to do anything but saves at mission starts.
any of you fellas streaming?
Would a remaster even be popular on Twitch?
The usual Tomb Raider streamers are going full autism with it, especially speedrunners
Also, most TR streamers are women, I've noticed. Lol
everyone is at work
>requires DX12 even though it runs on OpenGL
Oh well, good thing vkd3d-proton exists.
You best not be shitting me anon.

the original gold texture looks so much better than the new one
Things I wish they added as QoL options:
>Adding a couple inches of magnetism for ledges from a straight vertical jump
>Automate holding onto climbable surfaces
>Make Lara's animation not twitch awkwardly from mid-jump to "arms held out to grab hold of something" if you jump with the grab button held
>Speed up the block pushing 200%
>Increase wall climbing speed over time the longer you hold the direction
>Actual quickload/quicksave slots that skip the menu
>Shoot at another target when the current one dies, without having to repress your fire button
>Level select w/ current progression and recorded stats per-level
>Increase interaction distance for puzzle elements and item pickups

really bad taste anon
I found it interesting that the camera behavior differs depending on whether you're in classic or remastered visuals. Remastered generally tries to keep Lara's head out of the center of the frame and follow behind her a little more loosely, and drawing your weapons pulls the camera further back and up to give a better view of what's ahead of her.
first visual bug i'm noticing, weird darkness on these 2 tinted floor tiles
I'm just happy Shitaku's editor didn't have a good time with the game.
90% of reviewers didn't have a good time with this game.
But their "this shit is so dated, why do we even bother with this remaster" attitude is cancer.
who do I activate photo mode?
F3.
thanks
wow cistern looks awesome, love the ceiling
that's really awesome.
What's the possibility of limited run or whatever other company doing a playstation physical release print?
0 (zero)
Why the frick would they?
Playing with modern controls I have to wonder, why is there no modifier key to to all those flips instead of having to draw your weapons? From what I see in the menus, RB is still free in the controller configs, would it have really been impossible to add it as a modifier so you could do your jumps without weapons drawn?
No.
I got no sound. like at all
have you rebooted PC since? plugged in headphones?
>Maybe if that anon uses some sort of virtual audio device app
Can you recommend me one anon? I'm on sick leave- I've got time to tinker.
Sure https://vb-audio.com/Cable/ keep in mind it's not guaranteed, you might have to tinker still
Like I said, I got the time for it.
thanks plenty man.
Haha, good luck.
try changing the default format of your sound device to 44100hz cd quality
Anon tried all that, we're sure
mouth looks like Spatula Madness but it still kinda gets me going
time to binge TR remaster reviews. Any recommandations?
Steve of Warr put out a decent one.
thx! Will watch it.
digital foundry and nick930
thank you, added to the list
I have the originals and I don't feel like buying something from pozzed frickers.
You have port projects on github for each game, you'll be fine. This is mostly for a potential new audience and hopefully a wave of SFM porn kino.
the just pirate it dumdum
they kept the content the same and added a mandatory text screen to generate marketing buzz. based devs imo
>play remastered 1 for a couple of hours
>come back and see that it got some minor update
>my save is just fricking gone with no trace
Oh frick right off. Tempted to get a refund.
Refund it, you might lose more saves with later updates, no point in giving braindead idiots your money.
So what exactly are those ''questionable'' themes you may find in Tomb Raiders 1-3?
there are many other threads for polshit
but as far as I know it's the tribes who are in an area known to have tribes were are cannibals, are cannibals. Also chinese people are traditionally chinese and not modern shenzen businessmen with instagram
There aren't even any Chinese people in TR2. It's all Tibetan monk vs the Italian mob.
Which makes me wonder what the devs were smoking to come up with the plot for TR2.
>tibet
>not rightfully chinese land
ok boomer
Willard is an ableist.
Lara shoots indigineous black people.
Lara thinks Tibet is independent.

Devs: Nothing personnel kid
Ah, so it's a GOG thing? God these fricking morons.
More like the devs shipped the Steam version to GOG without removing Steam files.
game has the weirdest controls and explains none of them
>the bible is 2700 years old
>doesn't explain how to read
6 year old me figured it out so you can too, moron
It expains the tank controls VERY thoroughly. It doesn't explain the modern controls, though. And those are the ones that are incomprehensible for me.
anyone got a comparison of the midas scenes? between OG and remaster
?feature=shared
?feature=shared
wow, the remaster one kinda sucks. cheers anon
It's the same animation that was in the original, though.
yeah that is true, but the gold texture in the remaster just feels... fake for some reason. the ps1 version of the gold looked a lot better.
ctrl + f "clunky"
no results
looks like zoomers are not buying this yet
The few zoomers I know dropped and refunded already, saw some on Steam they dropped the game too, Twitch as well. It's because the modern controls are fricked.
Some of them are pushing through. And God bless them.
I heard it was supposed to run in windows 7 but I keep getting entry point not located dll errors, guess it's over.
>dx12 required
>windows 7
Huh?
so which one is it
It runs on
1) OpenGL
2) Does not work on Windows 7
t.have 760, have tested both
Ask them, but 7 doesn't officially support directx 12. Can you chose between Vulkan and Directx to play the game at least?
It's neither Vulkan nor DX12, it runs using OGL but also weirdly loads some DX12 libs. Just run Afterburner if you want to confirm.
7 supports DX12. It's in a weird way through a dll instead of the driver though. WoW and some obscure software use it.
>officially
If Crystal Dynamics wants to support minorities then support the W7 minority, bigots
Windows 7 is a problematic depiction that promotes harmful stereotypes made during times when we didn't know better, Valve and Aspyr are proud to move past such times and drop support for it.
Nice Patrick Swayze you got there anon. You can try replaced the DLLs with something like D3DVK or the like.
Just killed the dinosaur and got two machine cogs but have no idea where the frick they go
There are three cogs.
frick
Like the anon had said, there are three cogs. Then, go back the way you came and search for the stream.
>not even in steam top sellers
It's over. We're never getting 4-6
it's literally in the top 10
Seems to be doing fine in my region
4K concurrent players. Not bad for a niche remaster.
you're never getting 6 no matter what, that game is too broken to just remaster.
>The modern controls are actually million times more clunky and imprecise.
Can you elaborate what makes them unprecise? I haven't run into any issues so far other than having to draw weapons to do back/side flips
They're boomers fren they can't wrap their mind around the modern ones
There are sections where you need to do ramp hopping, and you to need to jump backwards, so that you propel yourself off the ramp facing forward and grap the ledge of the oppposite wall. It's very easy to do with tank controls, but insanely fiddly with the new controls, where you need to either draw weapons, jump backwards, sheathe weapons and then push a grab button or jump forwards towards the ramp, roll in the air and grab in a very short window of time. It's another unnecessary wrinkle in a game that's all about precise controls.
Yeah they're not much better honestly but at least I get to spin lara around and aim the camera using my mouse
sneaky monkey trying to hide but i see him
Rise/Shadow Lara mode when? Toon Lara is a huge turn off personally
Played with modern controls a bit and it feels like it keeps dropping inputs on jumps. Back to tank controls I guess.
Yes it's a known issue, the game's input handler is borked when running modern mode, too many events are created in-engine.
Tomb Raider is between Palworld and Lethal Company in the top sellers.
>pubg
>at the top
The frick kinda moronic counting system is steam using? There aint no way
It's not based on sales but revenue. That includes in-game purchases too and PUG is very profitable.
Highly doubt it.
Do you think the remaster can kickstar a wave of 3D action/adventure platformers? Hopefully with some semblance of art direction and not being a soulless rip-off?
imagine if PoP was in the hands of a non moronic company
Oh I was meaning indies, the only realistic possibility.
well pseudoregalia came out and was very well received
platformers are coming back baby
Oh, then yeah. Maybe.
But it's not like indies don't already dabble quite a bit with the platformer genre. Dunno if I'd call it a wave.
I dunno. So far, it failed to catch the attention of the zoomers and the scathing reviews from Kotaku and PCGamer don't help.
>scathing reviews from Kotaku and PCGamer
too lazy to google, give me the tl;dr
PCGamer
>game too old and too hard, why remaster it?
Kotaku
>game too old and too hard, why remaster it? also, the game is now super-racist because that Crystal Dynamics disclaimer told me that
No pcgamer says it is racist too.
>Worst of all, the trilogy's depictions of anyone who isn't a sassy British tomb raider with a fondness for teal tank tops has, at best, aged like milk left out in the midday sun, and at their lowest points are nothing less than racist.
>the image for the bit complaining about racism is a screenshot of one of the fricking fredos
Well, no wonder the journos are spinning this "posh British woman cleaning up the turdworlders" narrative
>
>scathing reviews from Kotaku and PCGamer

No one pays attention to them these days. The real reviewers are youtubers now, and that's why every fricking TR youtuber got an early copy
AssCreed and Zelda already exist and they didn't really spawn more franchises
try Fenyx Rising I guess
>wake up

The devs knew what they were doing when they gave Lara the pog face.

I'm surprised nobody took feet screenshots at her home.
You missed the previous thread.
an anon did
Hope the games do well and aspyr do the same for RE trilogy
How to vault ??????????
hold action button + walk forward
there's a button for grabbing
idk what it is since i rebinded mine
With tank controls, up and action. Jump is unnecessary. Whike holding up, walk and action will have Lara do a cute handstand.
With mordern controls - fricked if I know.
So is this worth getting? The 20% discount ends in around 4 hours on steam.
Yes. All three games + all the expansions means hours of fun and comfy platforming.
There are some issues, but I don't have any regrets so far. The games are still really solid.
>an atlantean challenges larson
>larson
larson has a thicc behind
>lARSEon
He's a cute twink now. Same with Pierre.
I need a quick reminder of the "secret" moves. Are they all binded to walking key?
With tank controls, you press walk to swan dive and handstand, yes. And in order to do swan dive acrobatics, you mash jump, IIRC. There is also a new move in TR3 where you tumble on the ground, that's crouch + sprint.
With modern controls - I have no fricking idea.
Buy the remaster
>more people playing this than suicide squad
That's not an achievment. But there are more users playing this than nuRaider.
Ty

just run and jump homie
Come on, anon, it's piss easy. If this filters you, get your ass ready for some REAL ballbusters later on and in the sequels.

When I played through this like a year ago on saturn I even skipped some platforms. But playing with save states was really nice and quick.
anyone who can read this?
it says ur a gayet
its a bunch of names
IIRC, it's some nonsense that's supposed to pass off as cyrilic, but it's just random moonrunes.
I'm Greek and it seems like gibberish to me. Greek letters put at random.
mfw lara will never take you hostage at gunpoint and ram you with her wiener like she did to larson
No Lara don't do it, don't take it out
Just had a wee nudge around, here's some thoughts albeit very few;
>The prerendered cutscenes have been ai upscaled. They don't look 'too' bad but the one for Croft Manor is especially noticeable
>Swap graphics literally at any time.
But I agree that's a lot of unnecessary faff to do a very simple thing, that's been very intuitive previously.
>tfw no trashy qt scene gf to play tr with on valentine's
Man this game is satisfying as frick to play, even the early levels.
FRICK TANK CONTROLS
t.
bruh the modern ones are way worse
you try to fine tune the way you're facing on a platform and she just runs off the fricking
git gud
Too expensive
let me guess. you smell bad and like anime?
how do I go back to the main menu from the in-game menu?
Open inventory>Game>Return to title.
Open lara's book, you should see the save/load screen, then go right
How to grab the ledge while like this ??
With modern controls just hold action, I think. With tank controls, turn around, hold action and hop backwards.
modern? drop and grab
tank? turn away from ledge, drop and grab
This is goty
Roty*
I unironically like the movie
we need a new thread btw
im using modern control and now i become this
boob XD
z-buffer fight!
>exposed underwear
I am going to fap so much to these games for that late 90's nostalgia when my blossoming growth realised lara wasn't just some girl.
how do i do the sideways jumps in modern controls
WTF
why do these homies not include a fricking button layout in the options
side and back flips only with guns out
You don't 😉
>modern controls
there's your problem
Just pull out the weapons homie and it's the same as with tank controls
Tried it for a few minutes
Classic graphics: getting a lot of micro freezes/stutter for some reason
New graphics: unironically soulless, it looks like garbage. Only pro is smoother framerate because for some reason classic is locked at like 30
Tried the "modern" controls and it's unplayable lol, even zoomers will get more filtered with these
werks on linux
I dig the new graphics.
>Lost Artifact
My man
is there a way to repeat lara's lines in the corft manor? i'm too moronic to follow some of these instructions without listening to them a 2nd time
Shouldn't they repeat every time you start an "exercise"?
dunno, they aren't repeating when I step on the numbered platform again
Then I can't help you. You can always start the tutorial anew. It's not like you're losing progress.
just restart the home
HOUSE REAL BIG, CARS REAL BIG
DICK REAL BIG, EVERYTHING REAL BIG
RIMS REAL BIG, POCKETS REAL BIG
BALLS REAL BIG, THAT'S WHO LARA IS

Oh, those "paws" made from blocks look derpy. Granted, that was the way in the original, but it looks even sillier with the new graphics.
>tfw thinking about people doing Temple of Xian platforming with the "modern" jump controls
I've played TR2 ages ago, but I remember that one part with "climb up, jump backwards onto a ramp, grab a ladder, jump backwards, do a 180 mid-air, grab a ladder...". I was so proud of myself when I beat that level.
Looks like the GTA Remaster
baffling
cant believe my dad probably jacked off to tomb raider
>can't believe my dad wasn't gay
I bought the game after pirating it.
straight sex
>thrust thrust
great sound effects, man
In the first level at least, classic graphics are better. Laras house new graphics are better no contest. I think i may be switching around a lot
does anyone else lose Laras ponytail when you go into classic graphics?
would love a game where you just explore a mansion with this aesthetic
