A lot of what makes P4 work visually is fog tech that was dependent on the PS2's native transparency and lighting tech. A lot of PS2 games that relied on this stuff visually suffer when ported because the devs literally do not know how to recreate it.

No, they literally do not know exactly how it was done. Devs can approximate, but they can't fully reverse engineer it without emulation because it's not their tech.

You just aren't going to get 1:1 PS2 lighting and transparencies unless you either steal info from Sony, emulate the PS2 itself, or decompile the game and tweak obsessively until it's exactly 1:1.

I like persona 4, but the last 3 dungeons are so annoying with the enemy resistances. Drain and Repel resistances should've been super rare, they slow everything down.

Why is Daisoujou so strong in Persona 4? He's even better than Alice, meanwhile in Persona 3 he's good and Persona 5 he's borderline trash
he's not bad, it's just that in P5 you gain so many options so quickly that you don't really need Daisoujou, on top of that, they added normal attacks for light&dark, meaning that these attributes were no longer niche only really relevant for endgame.
Daisoujou just breaks the game in p4 because as soon as he's available half the dungeons are weak to light/dark to account for Naoto being available, and even if they are not weak, a Samsara will probably hit every mob anyway. He's just the best available option, just like making Black Frost with Agidyne+mind charge and fire boost early which also breaks the game
P5 gives you so much good shit, and physical is so strong that you don't to use any insta-kill abilities

I'm the only moron that thinks Persona/SMT gives too much liberty to the demons/persona skills? I think at least 1/3 of a monster's skill should be locked to that monster only, if not what's the point, you can give any skill to any monster, their only difference is their resistance and some small status difference

You can count in two hands, Samsara, Die for Me, Morning Star, Hassou Tobi, Ragnarok and some others
Having skills not be locked is necessary for the number/variety of mon-stars they want in the game. Having too many unique skills would only work if they made up about a thousand more and then all the skills would be even more similar than they already are.
That's the main reason why SMT can never compete with pokemon when it comes to the monsters. SMT demons have barely any identity due to the fact that the game gives you too much freedom and most of them are fusion fother any way. That's why their games sold like shit until they started focusing into a different niche aside from monster collecting (and why other non persona SMT games still sell like shit).
Exclusivity isn't as important as limitations. That said, skills in recent games suck. They don't give you much aside from elemental flavors of basic attack spells and skill cards trivialize the effort of making broken demons.
Pokemon didn't even have signature attacks until Gen 3.
It's not about signature attacks. The real issue is that all demons can learn any skills through fusion and other methods. That removes an important part of their identity.
I can agree with that. Old games made it ridiculously hard to actually do anything too busted via fusion mechanics being obtuse. In the newer games, balance and demon identity are fricked.
Demons were traditionally much more disposable in mt, with no or very little levelling and no or almost no skill inheritance. You'd just fuse a new team with whatever you had on hand every couple of areas and you only bothered to sperg for difficulty spikes. The easily do anything with any demon style is only about as old as p4 golden and they don't need it to be the main attraction in the persona games because there is so much other shit
