Mine is from the Tomb Raider Instagram page. The Steam pic is from the reveal trailer, which honestly looked like a really early build.

That can happen sometimes, where the marketing team will use older footage. I remember for Turok 2's remaster trailer, they had some really early footage shown for the reveal trailer and some parts like the Lair of the Blind One's boss looked horrible.

they updated the model and it looks pretty decent now like has shown
some of those screenshots look alright but others look like they could do with some improvement
it's very difficult to say IMO because it seems to lack a sort of aesthetic consistency
some of the areas look pretty good like madubu gorge, but other areas like india look too "clean" like they've hired janitors to keep the place tidy
it might literally look similar to the classic version at face value with texture depth, colour and whatnot, but with modern graphics the atmosphere is subtly different and so you expect there to be more details, more muck, more grime, because it's an ancient place

Yes. There are plenty of comfy jobs up north in the UK and rural Ireland if you want, pay's ok but not the best. You can find cheap housing too if you stick around look enough, people just want to skip the grind for some reason.

you may as well just wait for the remasters next week and if they turn out to be not-so-good, i guess you can just buy it on GOG for a couple of bucks and download any patches if required (that's how i did it)

1. they aren't advertising it because crystal dynamics doesn't want the game to succeed
2. they haven't been given enough time and resources to finish it quickly enough

As much as we want to go back, I'm more hoping the game design is more akin to the originals. I honestly can't even imagine how a project like this could ever look good. Tomb Raider is just too blocky, and the level design is tied to how blocky it looks, you really just can't change it, and upgrading it just looks like a nexusmod HD asset flip. It doesn't mixe well, It just looks jarring like this. These games need to be played at most in 480p, I don't even like how the original games look on PC blown up to bigger resolutions.

Yeah, I'm in a comfy place that doesn't even have much activity, my town has <800 residents and our hospital doesn't even have 10 patients most days. Usually OBGYNs get the most activity, everyone else is chilling except for Pediatrics sometimes. Most days I come in at 7 AM and I have frick all to do after morning rounds in different places. I'm basically off work at 11 AM, it's a good life unless your goal is to be rich. Most people hate this place because of how quiet it is kek, I feel bad for them but then those extroverts want more I guess.

Yeah it's an issue with the Playstation versions, the game's image is squished internally or something. I no longer have it, just the screenshots. Idt there's a fix.

I am getting that "couldn't initialize Direct3D" error. Which is weird, because the game is working flawlessly on two of three of my PCs. It's only the laptop that's connected to my TV that has issues with the game. I refuse to believe that Legend somehow doesn't recognize RTX 2060, when it has no issues with my other PC with RTX 3090 inside.

the steam forums are saying that you have to turn off the "exclusive fullscreen" setting in the options
I have a feeling that it might be a TV related issue, but I'm trying to set up the 1920x1080p60Hz config in the launcher and it still fails to initialize. I guess I'll try that exclusive fullscreen solution.

Yeah, this is the laptop that can run Cyberpunk 2077 without a problem, so drivers aren't really an issue. Maybe they are month or so behind, but I don't think a game from 2006 cares very much.
I guess I'll just be tinkering around until something happens.

It's not about what it can or can't run, rather the version of Windows or a driver setting. Could try the game in a Virtual Machine too.
Could be drivers too. First step is to address everything that's different between each PC then you'll be able to narrow it down.
It could be an out of range error, common on TVs where it might support 23/24Hz and the game might be trying to set that, but obviously your GPU won't allow it. The easy way to solve that is to edit the game's config and set the resolution to 1920x1080p60Hz, it'll be in an ini file somewhere.

I only rented the first game back in the day (and never beat it) but the first level with the ambient sounds hits me in the feels to this day.
the ambient music is 10/10 in the classic games
I beat 1 and 2 fair and square, but 3 gets ridiculously complicated
the level designers couldn't even beat 3
they made it intentionally difficult because they were angry at having to crunch for so long, and the play testers were veterans so the levels came out quite tough to navigate through
