pretty much. tony hawk games had their time in the sun and every attempt to bring them back has crashed and burned. with 1+2 they actually made a good game, but it still cost them their jobs. and with skate, everyone begged forever for a skate4, and its turned out to be a f2p cash shop that will most likely not have a proper career and instead just push you to grind dailies so you can buy purple trucks.
Actually we are on sort of a skate revival, with Session, SkateXL that Ubisoft game now including skate mode, and later Skate 4.
But yeah so far the only good that came out of it is TH1+2 and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (yes it's inspired by both Jet Set Radio Future and Tony Hawk, play it)
I mentioned all those shit ass games in my post already. Session is the only one that doesn't give me cancer and the cancer I got from riders republic skating was terminal. Frick that game.
Bomb rush cyberfunk is barely even a skating game considering how similar all the stuff controls but it's a fun game. Thps is fine but I've already played those games for 20 years

Here's a knife in the back; Activision was planning THPS3+4, but because they sent the 1+2 devs off to the fricking Blizzard support mines and all their other devs are either working on personal projects or CoD/Blizzard support already, they had no one to develop it and the project was entirely canned. This game did well enough to get a sequel and Activision wanted to make it but was too fricking lazy to actually take anyone off of the "big money makers" to give it blood.
I know it's a monkeys paw wish fulfillment but I'm still genuinely looking forward to the new skate game. I played the leak over a year ago and it's fricked that the devlogs they put out don't look much further along. It's way more zoant over the top like they are catering to the YouTube ragdoll crowd and I worry there won't be a hardcore physics mode at all.

Yes 3+4 is "playable" but don't pretend that is the whole picture. People want Tony Hawk Underground campaign remade, people want American Wasteland remade, people want a whole new campaign, new levels, new content. Killing 3+4 kills all the potential to everything else too.
