how come every Steam Deck thread you make is always the same kind of bait

I've never made a SteamDeck thread before thougheverbeit

How is it bait? When I looked at various videos online (cause I was briefly interested) I saw how big/heavy it is for a handheld. Also saw how the fans have loud coil noise. Most of the games seemed jittery due to low FPS hovering just around 30. The battery seems to last like 2 hours when playing with reduced luminosity to save juice. Also watched videos of plugging it to a screen and using as desktop but it looked way too slow and buggy. Plus, let's not forget all the jingle jangle of making games/emulators/controls work... or buying the 64gb version and having to install some SSD on your own for extra storage... or even having to find which version has an anti-glare screen because some do and others don't for some reason... or figuring out why some versions have regular SSDs versus Nvme and which combo is better (ie. install new drive or use Micro SD for storage, etc.).

I legit spent less time learning to build my first gaming PC than I did reading all the crap required to make this Steam crap work normally. Rest assured that even if I see this crap sold used on Craigslist for like 50 bucks right next door... I will be very dubious of going for it.

        >I saw how big/heavy it is for a handheld.
doesn't feel heavy to me. how would you gauge this by looking at the thing?
        >Also saw how the fans have loud coil noise.
mine does not have this problem. i heard it was an issue with earlier units, and that it was fixed not only for them but for future units.
        >Most of the games seemed jittery due to low FPS hovering just around 30.
not a problem for me, though i personally am not looking to play the latest AAA slop, so i am biased, i admit.
        >The battery seems to last like 2 hours when playing with reduced luminosity to save juice.
again, maybe if you're playing something truly demanding, but otherwise you're not really stressing the thing that much. if it were advertised to last 8 hours or more of gameplay on some shit like cyberpunk and then didn't, i'd give it to you, but the fact that it runs on a battery at all is kind of amazing compared to what we were working with just 8 years ago. a lot of people don't even realize we literally did not have smart phones like we do now since like 10-13 years ago. it's impressive how such a thing even runs to begin with.
        >Plus, let's not forget all the jingle jangle of making games/emulators/controls work...
i literally pushed a few "next" buttons on an installer in desktop mode and it just worked. never fiddled with a thing, really.
        >or buying the 64gb version and having to install some SSD on your own for extra storage
is that not cool? is it not great that this thing can be upgraded so easily? couple screws, you take the back off, you literally pop it in like you would any laptop or desktop computer, close it back up, and just reinstall the OS via a flash drive. it's a computer after all.
        >or even having to find which version has an anti-glare screen because some do and others don't for some reason
only the highest tier model has this, and it's very clearly stated. screen protectors also just give you the same thing on lower tier models. literally what are you on about?

Yeah, good thing you can change the drive and void the limited warranty of the product at the same time. Good stuff.

Also, no need to make false claims like "everything works off the bat" when I can literally go see videos of people trying to install games and have to troubleshoot for hours. The Steam community forums (and pretty much all related forums online) show the same.

I guess Valve should provide better training for their "online influencers", because your selling effort is quite patchy and inefficient. I think you only managed to solidify my previous opinion.

            >Also, no need to make false claims like "everything works off the bat" when I can literally go see videos of people trying to install games and have to troubleshoot for hours

I've played over 200 something switch games and out of all of them only about 6 or 7 gave me any issue.
Everything else either plays perfectly or 95% perfectly.

The videos your seeing are of morons who dont understand how to install the emulators correctly and haven't put the shader cache on.
Linux also received a massive KDL update 4 weeks ago which enhanced every emulator used.
It sounds more like a you issue

but this doesn't void the warranty. like at all. specifically. you would know this if you even bothered to look just one time.

that's not saying much but the switch is not obsolete since its games are designed and optimized for it specifically

Not really, it's actually sad how much worse it is
        >way too big and bulky, horrible button placements and somehow feels cheaper than the literal children's toy
        >dogshit fan that either goes 100% or barely functions and fricks your ears/brain by revving up for a few seconds then turning off over and over (DUDE YOU GOT LE BAD FAN....ok, why the frick are they putting "bad" fans in over a year after launch?), gets hot as frick playing indie games while the switch is quiet and cool playing everything
        >massively inferior screen, especially to the OLED switch
        >doesn't "just werk" with a bunch of games on the store it's supposed to be made for
Basically the main reason it's worth anything is because it's linked to steam instead of nintendo's awful overpriced store. It doesn't feel like a real consumer product, it feels like a cheap shit thing hobbled together in a basement.

I bought an OLED Switch this week and it's amazing, I regret making fun of tendies, I also have a gaming PC already so I didn't need a Deck.

Yeah, I bought one for the Metroid games plus for the upcoming Mario game, it's a very nice handheld.

thats my situation as well. I have a gaming PC and have the switch to play mario Kart and other mario games with my niece and nephew. also tactics ogre reborn for myself. it's a comfy system with games I can't get elsewhere that I can play with friends and family. I got the oled version as well and I'm surprised how good games look on it.

OLED switch kind of sucks because it's not practical to install cfw on it. Imagine actually paying for nintendo games. The best part of switch is having a nice little freeshop where you download whatever you want plus random stuff you never heard of to try.

Until SteamDeck has a steam freeshop it will never compete. Piracy takes too long.

Steam Deck sucks ass. Bad ergonomics, too big and not powerful enough to play most new games.

I emulated eternal fricking ring on the PS2 on it and never touched it again. Dust collector. They should have atleast made the ergonomics like a Wiiu gamepad.
