Haven't heard of either of these, Night Loops looks very interesting. Some other indie horror games I'm looking forward to are Conscript, Lake Haven, and Ad Infernum.
I got sucked into playing this game by the 10 second nude scene at the very start. Then I proceeded to enjoy the rest of the game because it was really good. I hate puzzles in most survival horror games but the ones in this game were actually fun.
Sure it's not an AAA game and I knew they were planning for a sequel thanks to some funds they received from their state but it's still surprising normally indie studios just release one thing and then disappear
I played both and signalis was just inferior to tormented souls, the story was another piece it toghether yourself that indies love to do and I can't stand
I love Tormented Souls. Platinumed the game on PS5 and 100% it on PC, and bought it four times (PS5 digital and physical, Steam, and Switch). But Signalis is better.
I tried the first game. Went into the lobby and a dude on a wheelchair started chasing me. So I ran into one of the corridors trying to escape. A dead end locked door I couldn't open yet and the corridor was so narrow the wheelchair monster blocked the way back and slowly punched me to death. Uninstalled immediatelly. I am thinking of trying it again but that's very poor design. Is the rest of the game same "skill issue pick wrong random choice and you die" thing, or is it an actual game?
You literally just had to run past him and open the door where you get your first weapon, I have no idea how you managed to get locked and die to the first enemy in the game.
I quit because the beginning gave me 3 hallways to pick from and because I picked the wrong one based on no additional information the monster locked me in and I had to watch him kill me. I beat most games I play on the hardest difficulty, this is not challenging. It's cheap bad design. Goes for
I think my first survival horror was Resident Evil 2 on PSX back in the 90s but I am not sure. I loved these games, Parasite Eve and Dino Crisis too. I don't quit because I died, I quit because the game randomly decided to kill me for no fault of my own.
Did you not try to run away or check other doors in the hallway? There's no way you're so incompetent that you couldn't run past a slow npc in a survival horror game.
I saw the monster and 3 different ways I could run away from it. So I picked one and it was a dead end. Couldn't run back because the monster was blocking the way and he slowly came at me and killed me. I would say nothing if the monster hit me and I could then run past him or something but this was literally "pick A B C oh you picked A so you are dead sry bro".
I think my first time playing it turned around and went back the way I came, and when I returned to that hall he spawned far enough away that I could check the dead end before I aggroed him. Still, quitting altogether just due to one (admittedly cheap) death is a bit of an overreaction. Classic RE and SH games had moments you could get cornered too. A lot of games do.

Maybe you are right but I have a big backlog and if this is the first minute of the game after you unlock the initial door, how good is it going to be? Maybe it's the best game in the genre but I think it was a huge mistake to design the first encounter in the way it was designed. A better developer would make the hallways dark and put one light shining from one of them to intuitively guide you into the room with the weapon, or not kill you for picking the wrong choice.
Did you play Signalis? If yes how would you compare it to Tormented Souls?

I liked signalis less but it's still a decent game, combat in the highest difficulty is discouraged, you get no ammo and running around enemies is op. the story is convoluted and barely explained unless you play multiple times for the various endings and various pieces of lore

Yeah I'm [...]
Signalis has better puzzles and more dangerous enemies, plus a better story. But Tormented Souls plays a little better and IMO was scarier (though neither were very scary to begin with). Signalis has a limited inventory which seems to filter a lot of people, even though item boxes can nearly eliminate backtracking if you actually plan ahead. Just travel light and you'll be fine. My only major gripe was the way doors work. You approach a door and a prompt will appear, and then you press the button to go through. But every once in a while you will approach a door at just the right angle that the prompt doesn't show up, so you can get through unless you reposition yourself. This can be annoying when you have enemies chasing you.
Yeah I finished Signalis already so I was wondering how it compares. I love the story and the world of Signalis. The monsters and level design (combatwise) could be better and I think the monsters should chase you through rooms because the way it works completely trivializes everything even on the hardest difficulty. I love that there are neat little things like killing the first Mynah boss with a single flare.

that's pretty easy to overlook, initially i thought I would have to fight that thing, but then I just explored the area and forgot about it and got stuck until I read something about the resurrection
On everything but Switch, yes. The Switch port is (or at least was) pretty rough. I can usually handle low or erratic framerates but that was near unplayable whwn I tried it. That was at launch though so it may have improved.
Wasn't too big a fan of the first one, it felt like it just copy/pasted elements from old school horror games without adding anything new, gameplay wasn't very fun either.
first one was my goty 2021, fricking hype
wasn't expecting this, nice
Nice
A new one for my brainlet collection
any advice, gamer god?
does Ganker like this character design
Yes, though she needed to have a better model
It was a little cartoony and out of place looking in the first game but it looks better here.
Yeah, surprised everything looked great but she looked like one of those 3d hentai models from those cheap hentai games kek
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2464280/Tormented_Souls_2/
I wish she looked like here
Holy shit, didn't expect that one. Hope they keep the pipe shotgun, it felt awesome.
I disliked the dress with oversized ribbon on the back and pretty much ran entire game in her alt-costume.
Frick yeah I just mentioned how successful the first one was in another thread.
>Tormented Souls II
>Little Nightmares 3
>Blasphemous 2
>Lords of the Fallen
HORRORBROS WE'RE FRICKING BACK
>those last two
>horror
Unironically, yes.
We just need Alisa 2 now
Also the new corpse party
>Alisa 2
Never ever.
hu?
Why not?
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle comes out soon too, looks much better than the first one
Night Loop and Afterdream demo looks cool too
Haven't heard of either of these, Night Loops looks very interesting. Some other indie horror games I'm looking forward to are Conscript, Lake Haven, and Ad Infernum.
Check out Post Trauma too. There's a demo available on Steam.
Oh yeah I've seen that one. Kinda funny how you play as a chubby old guy but the production value looks good.
Thanks for the recommendation
Also I always like to shill pic related, its a surprising good Clock Tower game (btw there is some ct port incoming too)
I did play that one. Some parts of the game are stupidly moronic, but it's a fun trip, not to mention it's only like 4 hours long.
Nightmares 3
WHAT
Where you been?
under a rock
thanks for the info anon!
should I play the first 2 little nightmare?
Yes, they're both just around 3-4 hours long and very good.
I got sucked into playing this game by the 10 second nude scene at the very start. Then I proceeded to enjoy the rest of the game because it was really good. I hate puzzles in most survival horror games but the ones in this game were actually fun.
The puzzle where you travel back in time to cut out your own eyeball is such a clever moment.
Sweet, the first game was pretty great.
I love Caroline
The new setting sounds interesting.
so they made the good ending canon, I'm glad because that was one of the best part of the story.
Weird they didnt show it at gamescom, maybe theyll show a trailer in the current gamescom stream?
It got leaked soon, perhaps it's going to be announced today
Trailer!
I'm glad they have more budget now.
Is it PC only?
Why does she walk like she shit herself at the start of the trailer?
I enjoyed the puzzles in the first one, but not much else, hopefully this improves upon that.
>literally was the surprise announcement for gamescom
Wow
>chat didnt recognize the game
TS deserves better
It only sold 200k copies so that's not surprising.
Good thing it's only a dev team of two guys and they live in Chile with a lower cost of living.
>Chile with a lower cost of living.
Chilean here. It's getting worse by the day.
Damn everything is going to get worse isn't it
Told you not to vote for Boric.
Blame the venezuelans who migrated like a plague of rats, also this
didn't think the would announce a sequel so soon, still I loved the first, the best horror indie I've played
>so soon
It's been 2 years, time flies fast. Also games used to release sooner, AAA made everything worse lmao
Sure it's not an AAA game and I knew they were planning for a sequel thanks to some funds they received from their state but it's still surprising normally indie studios just release one thing and then disappear
sweet, hope Caroline sounds less like a bored black lady this time
dogshit game ngl
Awesome, loved the combination of SH and RE this game had going on.
Will we get breasts in the first two minutes again?
More importantly, will we get a lewd dress with pantyshots again? will anyone make porn of her?
Good news, I still havent finished the game myself, plant to finish it this october while I go on a horror game marathon the whole month.
Fricking nice. I loved the original.
Hell yeah this is great news. Loved the first game. So happy it was successful enough to get a sequel.
It looks basic as shit. I'm not gonna play it.
The first one has a demo on Steam, check it out.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1367590/Tormented_Souls/
I'd rather pirate the game
2019-2021 chads get all the luck.
i didnt know so many people in Ganker liked tormented souls, sometimes you guys are ok
I wish it got even half as much attention as Signalis did here. Guess it needed more deep lore and anime lesbians.
I played both and signalis was just inferior to tormented souls, the story was another piece it toghether yourself that indies love to do and I can't stand

Because there were 3 ways I could run to and I picked one randomly which was a dead end.
You died once and quit? Maybe video games aren't for you.

as well.
>I beat all my games!
>But if I die ONCE I just quit instead of loading my save
Was this your first survival horror or something?
I think my first survival horror was Resident Evil 2 on PSX back in the 90s but I am not sure. I loved these games, Parasite Eve and Dino Crisis too. I don't quit because I died, I quit because the game randomly decided to kill me for no fault of my own.

Is that you DSP?
DSP actually finished Tormented Souls though.

seems like you are just moronic

are you a gaming journalist?
This game has some really confusing puzzles, glad you stopped playing it before you became confused on the first one
I got filtered by that puzzle where you have to circle around the bed 3 times to solve it.
that's pretty easy to overlook, initially i thought I would have to fight that thing, but then I just explored the area and forgot about it and got stuck until I read something about the resurrection
Is the first game good and WELL optimized?
Yes.
the game is not very graphic intensive so it should run well on most pc, personally I had no problems on an rx470
On everything but Switch, yes. The Switch port is (or at least was) pretty rough. I can usually handle low or erratic framerates but that was near unplayable whwn I tried it. That was at launch though so it may have improved.

The time travel puzzles were very unique for this genre.
Big congrats to the devs, I wasn't under the impression it got popular enough for a sequel.
was excited to hear they were making a new horror game but now knowing it's a direct sequel is even better
Lovely surprise to see. Hope they have the same composer as the soundtrack was the highlight of the first one.
