Well, was it worth the wait Ganker? All those years for one giant map?

I like how discussion for this series completely died off once this game came out
they have been delaying the announcement of a roadmap for half a year
There's DLC (chaos dwarves) next month, so it'll probably pick back up then. We've been in a content drought for a while and also
It launched in a bad state, with bugs/performance issues and a shit campaign. Once IE came out people generally liked it but it shone more light on the parts that are half-baked like the Ogre Kingdom or the older races not having as interesting mechanics.
I haven't played Beastmen or Norsca yet cause
But trying to map manage the Ogres has been total cancer so far. Like I get the Camps are very key, but it feels like the Meat Production buildings in regular settlements do not work, and this is after making sure a single, full stack of ogres stays in the area for one turn and fully upgraded meat. Also those bounty mechanics being completely useless and nonsensical. "Hey, you get 3 options for bounties, and they always involve doing something for your enemies and fucking over your allies. Have fun!"
I thought I wouldn't care because Ogres have powerful low-tier Infantry, but because of the issues of low gold-production, meat production, and immovable camps, they have to sit there while other empires (especially Greenskins and the Zombie-Fuckers for Greasus) snowball like maniacs, even taking into consideration of raiding and sacking while Camps grow. In other words, Ogres are not fun on the map.
Ogres will get a rework at some point, but probably 3 years from now given the glacial rate at which CA releases patches.
The new campaign was shit and until the merged map is released, why bother? Also, it's the third fucking game in a forced trilogy series. The rust of the engine is showing.
The initial announcement in like 2013 was for 3 games. The engine is atleast as old as Empire or Napoleon
>Until the merged map is released
It was released like 6 months ago?
Probably because there's been a permanent /vg/ thread about it since the first game was announced and it never died one since then.
There's still a thread about it almost every day though
Because the only good thing about this game is the miao ying mod(you know which one anons).
Everything else is the same casualized shit Ca ha been peddling since getting into fantasy. Super fast battles and moba heroes where tactics terrain and strategy don't matter just spamming Op doomstacks and Op magics does.
We need a proper return to historical ( no i don't count three kingdoms aka chinese capeshit with invincible heroes masquerading as historical figures as historical) titles like Shogun 2 to have good total war back.
CA is not interested in going back to Shogun 2 style games, and even if they were they are no longer capable of making them.
What mod brother
There are 3 mods.
Morathi, Katarin and Miao Corruption mods. Miao was removed from steam. You gotta join discord or search for it in loverslab
It's not a mod the Sigmarites would would teach you...
>hoped for Three Kingdoms to be Chinese Shogun 2
>it's actually Chinese Warhammer
pray to the gods of vidya that they make three kingdoms 2 like that. not a whole lot else you can do, sadly.
>can't go back to dragon form
LAME. I can't watch her eat people anymore.
Warhammer 2 is the most complex and difficult TW out there. Keep seething bro.
Total Warhammer 2 discussion died off after release too, before the release of Mortal Empires and the first race dlc. There was near radio silence between Total Warhammer 3 release and the release of Immortal Empires, and near total radio silence between Immortal Empires' release and the game's first race dlc
I remember people wanking it to the Vampire Coast trailer. That's about it
Hyenas draining off the competent staff fucked it.
2 had a shaky start and initial campaign that wasn't well liked, but Mortal Empires came out after a month and kept it alive, and the DLC team started to steadily fix the most glaring issues.
It took six months for IE to come out for 3, and that problem was compounded by the fact that, unlike the vortex campaign, the Ursun campaign couldn't simply be ignored; you were forced into building tall and immediately jumping into a portal, because waiting too long could lose you the campaign and the AI cheated like a motherfucker.
>Hyenas draining off the competent staff fucked it.
What competent staff? CA hasn't put out a non-warhammer Total War that hasn't been a complete flop since Shogun 2.
I don't think you know what word that means
Rome II was a great financial success.
But it was also so bad that it forever tanked their reputation with the historical crowd. All their later games sold like shit despite being better - Until Warhammer TW got made and stopped the downtrend.
>tanked their reputation with the historical crowd
oh no, five or 7 guys historyfags are upset now ;_;
I mean, there's nothing left to talk about for 2 and 3 is just shit. What do you want to talk about?
Only thing anyone really wanted was chaos dwarfs and kislev.
Kislev is shit and chaos dwarfs are trapped behind fixing the shit state of the game
Because Mortal Empires is STILL the better experience to actually play, and the cartoony large map isn't as good as it should have been anyway while being so dense that you'll never play a field battle in your life as you're always one turn away from a settlement.
>Complaining about muh settlement battles after the update removed them from minor settlements unless you build walls
>And after the update that gave every legendary lord siege attacker
Someones bad at video games
>actually it's slightly less shit now
Wow let me get down on my knees and slurp up some of the CA cum
>BRO I HATE THING
>Actually, thing doesn't exist, there was an updated that changed everything and does this, that, and there
>OMG LET LE SLURP DA CUM
That escalated quickly lmao, what a gaylord, completely loses an argument and he immediately goes for the cum swallowing kek
Wtf are you talking about? Sieges are still shit they are just slightly less frequent
how would you know, you clearly haven't played the game if you didn't know there were no settlements anymore
Are you deliberately being thick
Yes. Now it's in a better position. You don't need games 1 and 2 to play IE and can even buy their DLCs and FLCs for game 3 to play as whatever factions you want. And Dawi-Zharr next month.
So yeah. It will be fun.
Do we know about anything besides chaos dwarves?
it's kinda boring. I'm waiting for them to go back to historical games, I'm tired of all this cartoon anime shit
The map is great, the armies are great. It was beyond buggy on release, now it's playable but bizarrely not as responsive at Warhammer 2. I just don't understand how it could have gotten worse from a previous installment.
The siege maps prevent me from playing. The maps are way too big. There is no benefit to the defender to splitting up your units and instead turtling on a single point. As an attacker the massive sprawling map is far too large manger, while at the same time being only made up of small corridors without any maneuver space. I've played 3 different campaigns lately and it all devolves into pile of violence blobs.
I keep hoping they'll redo every single siege map to be smaller and more open like they were in WH2, but I seriously doubt it. It's gonna get culled like they did Three Kingdoms.
>WH2 siege maps
Everyone has been complaining about the layouts for ages. Take a look at any old European city, the streets tend to be small. Its fine but it just doesn't work for a TW game.
It is worse since Warhammer uses a very outdated version of Warhammer 2 as a base. Meaning without any quality improvements and what not. Now AI is even more dumb while maintaining a through the roof anti-player bias.
Get an anti buildable tower mod.
It doesn't fix sieges, but it gets rid of irritating blobs causing constant attrition while the AI dicks around, and it also discourages you from running the AI around in defensive sieges
>can only play Total Warhammer II
>computer in Skaven mode goes between 25 to 35 fps
>end turn takes a bit
I wish I could play III, I wanna play Nurgles and Chaos.
game runs fairly smooth for me anon, and im on a 970 with 8gb ram
TWW3 runs better on my machine.
Its gonna get worse with 2000 new units and 5 new races
Just buy geforce now for a month and play
Yeah it's pretty good, chaos gods need more meat. New human factions, Kislev and Cathay, are gay. I want a mirror to the chaos warriors but for the good guys.
that's the Stormcast from Age of Sigmar
AoS is a boring setting. The infinite realms means nothing has consequences.
Thank fuck every bit of AoS they've pulled into WHTW so far has been soulful af
>The infinite realms means nothing has consequences.
Do you lie on purpose or repeat a lie you were told?
no, it's just the truth. Nothing matters, Chaos wins, Stomies are a weak last resort that have now become corrupted by Bela'cuck, the end, that is all there is to AoS
Literally all of this is false. I ask again do you lie on purpose?
I advise that you read the books instead of jacking off to trannies on r/sigmarxism
do you enjoy lying on the internet, shill?
Hope for a buff to Temple Guard and play lizardmen, they're the closest order mirror to warriors of chaos
Lizards aren't humans and I don't think they are cool.
Yes, i just need the FUCKING chaos dwarfs already
Yes unless you are a chud
still not cracked
I hate how low effort the portholes in WH3 are.
Everyone looks like they're trying to unlock my phone.
Well what else do you expect? The nation called.
You got me.
When will CA fix the fucking loading times? This is unacceptable.
It's thanks to Denuvo, so there is nothing they can do about it and decision to drop this malware is left to SEGA and japs for whatever reason love to spread this virus.
Rushed in, its probably on their to do list. You can just mod these out
Did you plug your monitor to toaster?
Cartoon anime shit will stay with us, sadly.
Cause people actually play this game
Its good, late game 50 seconds per tour is kinda annoying but not game breaking, world is diverse in a good meaning of this word, modding community can fix most of CA's wrongs and now its more friendly to new players. What more to ask for? Ahh right, non cartoonish graphics, denuvo removal and more content.
>Did you plug your monitor to toaster?
It's not really a monitor. It's a TV Plasma. It's around 32" or 42", I have no fucking idea but it's big.
Nonetheless, it's not that. It's just that I have a very old CPU. AMD Athlon II X4 645.
Oh, right, the amount of processing made in this game is insane and that is truly one old cpu you've got there
I had no problem with 2070 super which might be slightly better than 3060, but TWWH is cpu game after all
Meh, it's what we thought it would be. A big map with all factions in it. It's all it had to be.
>wanna be a funny pirate
>our guy Luthor Harkon can't raid the seas cause he is too buzy fighting lizards and rats in Brazil
>the one pirate lord that can actually raid the seas effectively is giga lame
What were they thinking?
I just pick Harkon anyway because he's got 10 times more charisma than Noctilus.
Then I just secure the vampire coast, build the defences and go conquer all islands on the map, starting with the Maelstrom. Or at least that's what I did in 2, now with the siege rework I don't know if I'd dare leave the minor settlements alone with no walls.
Aranessa is also a fair compromise but it annoys me like hell that she's using undead shit and spreading corruption around one of the prettiest areas of the map.
SFO grimhammer makes garrisons a lot more powerful (capable to fight off even a full stack of HE 9 tier army) .
With new concept art (By CA) for Vangeist, loads of hints about Marienburg, Manann & Stormfels and sea elves I expect one dlc to be centred around sea factions. We might get to see Aranessa lead some living pirates in futute
I usually play Aranessa with Nanu's mod. It's unbalanced mess but it's a funny gimmick that at least brings her some kind of Man of War feel, since Sartosa can have Living creatures ( Human, dwarfs, living crabs ) and usual Undead ones. Also Pseudo Legendary lords are actually pseudo legendary with their own unique building chains.
i'm glad they did it, personally. this has been good practice for them. now they'll be able to make an extra fucking kickass medieval 3 with one gigantic europe map, the europe map to conquer all of the europe maps!
>gigantic europpe map
Never gonna happen, sorry mate.
i have to hope. it's the only thing i have left in life.
It's leagues better now than it was at launch, but there's still something very underwhelming about WH3, even with IE. I don't know why, but it has just never hooked me the way that WH 1 and 2 did. Every time I start a new IE campaign I get bored of it within a few turns.
I'm gonna guess it's the enemy AI who are somehow even worse than 2, and overall much more reluctant to send much forces against their enemies, preferring to just sit in their territory for some time.
After a while Sandbox games without any purpose are getting really boring and WH2 base vortex campaign as bad as it was, was still better than RoC (vampire Coast campaign, tomb Kings or any other dlc campaigns were quite eng aging, and its not there in WH3). There are also mods which can make your gameplay experience more appealing for example I'd never play Cathay for more than couple of turns if not Lazy's Miao Corruption.
It's the lack of a real end-game crisis. The ones they added are very lacklustre. I suspect it will feel that way until they add the actual Storm of Chaos back into the game.
It struggles with a 3060?!
>buy key off CDkey for 30 eurobucks
>it's a pre-order edition with the ogre DLC
neat, also what's the most fun faction ?
I tried Slaneesh but I feel the units are kind boring
It depends on what you like, but Nurgle is pretty fun. You have tanky infantry, powerful monsters, great magic, great lords/heroes. And you can give your armies vanguard through plagues.
I used to play Tomb Kings in TW2, I hoped there would be a similar faction in 3 and for some reason I expected Slaanesh to be it but I was unpleasantly surprised at their unit roster, it seems they play more like squishy lizards.
I spent entire weekend watching people reacting to all wharhammer videos I could find
It was more fun than playing videogames
Yes, it's great.
Yeah when it first released it blew me away. Took forever but it is fun.
is this game easy I am sort of retarded
There are several factions ingame that are just 'Right Click: The Faction', and you can adjust the difficulty of both the battles and the overworld mechanics. Keep them low / on easy, and you'll be peachy.
alright I am going to play it hopefully I will succeed
No need to succeed on your first try straight away, get to know how shit works or atleast try to. The most important goal, however? Having fun. Go get 'em, anon.
Just remember you'll possibly lose a fight or two. If you're a cuck you reset to an earlier but unless it's super early and you're totally overwhelmed yo can recover from it.
Unless you're playing kugath in IE in which case yes you are really fucked.
If you know TW mechanics, yes its pretty easy.... the only tricky part is mixing in magic during battles, which i always forget. There are plenty of difficulty settings to suit your needs, and mods can fill in the cracks.
On easy mode not really, overwhelmed for sure, at least that was my first impression when I bought both titles with dlcs.
beginner: skarbrand, right click on armies with your melee
intermediate: dwarfs, you need ranged units now
hard: cathay, your ranged units have to be behind your spearmen
When the FUCK is the chorf reveal
They wanted to get the Chorfs out somewhere mid to end of April, and start showing shit somewhere half of March so get ready, SoonTM.
>game was free for the weekend on Steam
>tried it out
>more or less the same shit as before just with a few more factions
Not worth even $30.
>been doing imperial playthroughs since release
>never finished a single one, always get cornered in some stupid way
>try mods, still get owned
I know I suck at total war but I still enjoy the campaign. I just wish I could actually beat the campaign as empire. I've beat it before as Dwarf and Skaven, so I know I can.
But holy fuck is the empire retarded.
The empire is recommended for new players and outside of le ebin human empire of man memes I don't know why. Karl's campaign is totally fucked.
It was more manageable before IE. Now you have to slog yourself out of Fetsus's personal petri dish.
Festus and Vlad are annoying as fuck to deal with and nearly immortal respectively. I fucking hate Vlad so much its unreal.
I rush for wizards even as Gelt solely to get rid of that goddamn gravemoron.
>turns up again and again with an army of zombies
>because they're all so fucking worthless he's 90% of the army weighting, so you have to wipe out his entire army and then get him down to 20% before he hits army losses
>unless you can run him around with handguns on his ass, he'll form his personal blob and fuck up at least 6 units before his regeneration cap up
>once you get him to fuck off you get a whole turn before he's back, pulls an army out of his ass and starts the dance again
I feel absolutely no remorse for cheesing the shit out of their blind spot sieges with GOLD MAGIC, because fuck Vlad
rush for Death wizards*
spamming life leech is the ONLY way to reliably get rid of that rotting gay until Karl gets deathclaw, or if you get the captain's demigryph mod
Yikes bro, just use Bright and blow up mobs with Burning Head and snipe him with Fireball
*gets obstructed by a blade of grass being too elevated*
nothin' personnel kid
ngmi just play HE
nah, i'll just spam leech and watch him go down
>once you get him to fuck off you get a whole turn before he's back, pulls an army out of his ass and starts the dance again
This is the shit i hate about total war franchises.
Ive played since the original shogun. they just cant design a good game so its just more "lol obvious cheats for difficulty cause we cant fucking program an AI for shit!"
I uninstalled when a faction had one province, i killed like 2 fullstacks during a war, and those fuckers had ANOTHER 2 FULL STACKS on the very next turn. Thats not even fucking possible and i hate these games so much now.
In fairness, vampires are supposed to be able to raise an army rapidly.
The issue is that with every other vampire faction, this leads to a mid tier lord having a shit tier army that won’t cause many casualties, but with Vlad the shit tier army just makes him even more annoying, since you can’t even tarpit him and wipe the rest of his forces out to kill him via army loss.
So what's a fun first run for IE? Was leaning towards an Ogre playthrough but don't know if they're actually fun lategame or just a slog to get through
ogres are fine but both of their LLs are awful. Greasus gets mogged by vanilla tyrants and he also has to deal with Ghorst.
Skrag is slightly better and he gets some decent campaign bonuses but even then he's not great.
Gotcha. Was never really a fan of Skrag lookwise, and was a bit miffed to see Greasus on his grandpa scooter, so LL-wise I was never gonna win. God, I just want Golgfag
Greasus is just a complete fuckup. His fucking wheelbarrow is retarded as shit and his combat animations are fucking terrible. He doesn't feel at all how he should.
Skragg mostly gets retarded amounts of campaig movement so if you like roaming around he's decent for that.
The camp mechanic got a bandaid fix but it's still ass too.
Really ogres are just kinda scuffed on campaign but I still lie getting charges off with the fat lads.
>The camp mechanic got a bandaid fix but it's still ass too.
How vital is the camp mechanic for them? Can I just sorta ignore it after slapping a couple of them around the world or do I need to stay on my toes and produce more camps than Genghis Khan had kids?
> but I still lie getting charges off with the fat lads.
Same here, along with the fact that I always loved the Leadbelchers.
>How vital is the camp mechanic for them?
It's how you recruit like 90% of your units and it's how you get decent replenishment. It's fairly important.
Whelp, guess I'll have to actually read up on it a bit then. Cheers for the answers, ogrebro, have a hot girl as payment.
Camps are everything. You need to make them as soon as possible and spam them.
>Greasus is just a complete fuckup. His fucking wheelbarrow is retarded as shit and his combat animations are fucking terrible. He doesn't feel at all how he should.
We could fix it in two ways.
Either via mod and give him his palanquin back...or alternatively wait when Thundertusks are introduced and give him a unique one. With a palanquin with roof over it, his gold and gnoblars giving him a ranged attack in the form of them throwing sharpened scrap at people (and said Thundertusk's freezing breathe and chill aura).
Nothing's wrong with ogres campaigns, their mechanics are strong. I finished both campaigns on very hard and they were quite easy. I was making mad dough with Greasus. His character in battle however does suck ass.
Just make camps not permanently raid the region they're in, disable trespassing penalties for Ogres, and port the Three Kingdoms mercenary diplomacy mechanic to them.
N'kari. The start position is kind of a bitch (Hellstriders are your best unit so get loads of them, N'kari is an arrow magnet but is fast enough to weave through and reach melee, when you tech to Chaos Warriors you've won) but his economy is fun to manage and when you start going infinite with cultists you can turn the whole map pink and start spamming free disciple armies to take twenty settlements a turn.
>CA is neglecting, almost killing, their cash cow to jump on the hero shooter bandwagon more than half a decade after it died
I still don't understand. I just don't get it.
It's probably a mix of sega forcing them to make Hyenas as well as possibly being butthurt their most successful TW series is based off another IP altogether.
I just can't believe how quickly we've gone from CA riding high on Total Warhammer 2 to there being a serious chance that Hyenas kills the company
What's next now that the trilogy is for the most parts - done. We will get some more DLC but what comes after that? Will they make a 40k game? Warhammer is their most successful game overall and the history games haven't performed well at all - mostly because they were terrible
>Reskinned spearmen fighting another reskinned spearmen
>Dinosaurs and dragons fighting steampunk HRE and goofy aahh rats with miniguns
GEEE, I WONDER WHY WOULD ANYONE PREFER ONE OVER THE OTHER
The problem isn't humans or spearmen. The problem is a general lack of effort when it comes to their historical titles.
The Warhammer games also have many of the core issues that their other games have
>unacceptable loading times
>complete lack of balance
>buggy as shit with them refusing to fix shit even years after release
People simply forgive Warhammer all those mistakes BECAUSE it is the game where small dinos ride bigger dinos and where undead egyptians fight oversized rats and ogres. Each faction/lord has its own somewhat unique playstyle while their historical titles don't bother with any of that.
Everyone plays basicly the same - They all look the same except for the colors - and instead of doing something interesting they keep chasing trends and popular scenarios even if they aren't suited for their games at all.
Noone says that a Rome II Total War can't have complex and unique factions.
The size of this game is a problem, CA plans to make every vanilla lord from both TW1 and TW2 unique but I do understand why its not easy task, every addition to already huge game is another second added to *unacceptable loading times* and another *balance breaking* issue. I wish SEGA would drop Denuvo bullshit but I know its not going to happen and we'll never know how this malware impacted on loading/turn times.
Well, this is what dlc team inherited from dev team and this is engine from three kingdoms made for 13+ audience, that is why blood pack has to be a separate dlc.
>that is why blood pack has to be a separate dlc.
What? They do it to get around age restrictions, not for any engine reasons.
They do it cause game is 16+ and engine was invented for 13+ or 16+ audience and that's why the game looks so cartoonish, blood packs also look inferior to the rest of game. I can't imagine CA using it in TWWH40k (if they plan to make this game), it was good for historical titles, barely works on softer TWWH but 40k, nah, I can't see it happening. Also they can't do much about it, they work on warscape engine since... Always?
The siege maps are so fucking bad. Complete shit. Units can hardly move around the towns / cities without getting stuck and forming a fucking Congo line. It was really disappointing but now I don’t really care anymore
No one cares. Sieges haven't been good since Shogun 2 anyway.
It’s especially egregious in this iteration because the AI refuses to engage outside of towns / cities
Any AI mods?
SFO grimhammer changes a lot in AI behaviour, they tend to make mistakes like overcalculating their strength or campaign movement. Town/village fights are also rarer (due to stronger garrisons I guess) , weaker units are still usable in mid-late game and I love unit cap mechanics for both player & npcs (doomstacks are mistake). There is also some standalone mod by hecleas - AI Overhaul.
I hope this thread decides which AI mod is the best once and for all.
Depends on what you like some people hate SFO for whatever reasons, personally I love this mod because it makes every lord feel unique but if you like to fool around with hundreds of other (good) mods incompatible with SFO then hecleas is perfect choice for you.
Map is honestly way too small for the amount of races and factions.
Cope, the real world is too small for the human race to begin with.
Having never played a Total War game before I played that one since it was on Gamepass and holy fucking shit that game was awful. I can only assume the other games are as terrible as "make line of infantry, right click enemy, send dogs to attack rear." Shit was so retarded I felt like my demon champion guy could probably solo entire armies.
>Well, was it worth the wait Ganker? All those years for one giant map?
Yeah, it's great.
can my potato pc play this if I put everything on low?
there's only one way to find out, bud.
I'm playing VH/H Aranessa rn; raided Lokhir just to explore Cathay and put some coves up the ass of the biggest and richest faction in the campaign, he's pretty much paying for the upkeep on all of my armies.
Do the AI use sea lanes themselves?
>faceroll the entire Southlands, making more money than I possibly know what to do with
>slightly tougher but once I get enough Norscan tribes vassalized I walk straight through Cathay and slap every other order faction to death
>try out Ikit Claw
>immediately in a horrible position, can barely make enough money to sustain myself, have to abuse the tactical nuke every chance I get
What the fuck am I missing about Skaven
ratlings. so many ratlings. Just.... just more ratlings. if you think you have enough ratlings, you dont have enough ratlings
Any use for the warpflame teams and jezzails?
Jezzails are amazing at sniping lords and monsters from longer range but can kill regular units just fine.
Warpfire teams are more janky and need to be micro'd alot. I only use them for flavor or if I know I'm going up against swarms of melee infantry since they delete blobs.
My problem last time I was playing was that I was now getting into it with the frenchies and they of course had fuckloads of cav. So my understanding there is skavenslave spears and then turn the whole field into a killbox with ratlings.
Yeah, Brets can be tricky because cav is pretty much the only thing which can fuck up elite skaven armies (that and rough terrain).
>So my understanding there is skavenslave spears and then turn the whole field into a killbox with ratlings.
Pretty much tho you can also use Plague Priests (the heroes) to spam Vermintide. Focus fire all your units on enemy cav and don't be afraid to send out Ikit to tank a bit since he can heal a lot with his skills. Oh, and don't get flanked or you're dead meat.
If you're new at Skaven, you'll probably need to reload tough battles with Brets to get the general idea on how to fight them.
>What the fuck am I missing about Skaven
Weapon teams and AOE damage (artillery, magic) are your best friends.
Get 2nd WInd Serum for Ikit ASAP
Use shit units as meatshield (Skavenslaves are better than Clanrats).
Use food to uplift captured settlements, don't grow them with growth and money.
Ikit Claw's campaign can be tricky but he (and his faction) are so utterly busted it's not even funny.
I have thousands of hours in W2 and I can safely say that W3 is a pile of shit and a massive disappointment. CA have outdone themselves yet again.
>Creative Assembly's reaction to the good will that has slowly been developed over the past decade after catastrophic release of Rome 2.
I am unironically going to install 2 again
Its better that 3
the campaigns on mortal empires are more fun
sieges arent some retarded tower defense wannabe even thought they are still shit
units arent as retarded
cavalry literally does fuck all and sits there not attacking just running circles around units
Im so done with it especially when every update is shit
how did they break something that all they needed to do was copy from 2
>cavalry literally does fuck all and sits there not attacking just running circles around units
No I'm pretty sure they did this in 2 as well
Maybe but from what i remember they still seemed more effective at running units down
3 is better in every way moron
He just listed several ways in which it's not
>3 is better in every way moron
3 is ass
The battle AI shits itself every other battle as they sit there reforming every five seconds in which they just end up as a blob
Siege AI is even more braindead they run their units around to capture one random spot that you use one unit to capture keeping their units all over the place as you pick them apart but take damage anyways because of filthy fucking towers or it ends up a cluster fuck of a brawl because you units cant maneuver
Archers half the time never fire
Path finding is worse
Updates to races have made the race worse (i.e dark elves)
I loved it, recently finished my Kislev campaign.
Put overall around 700h in all the games.
Wish I had more time to play but family takes away all the attention recently.
Nah, Warhammer's tarded. Tarded setting, tarded factions, game's got tarded gameplay.
Literally all they had to do was make big siege maps and lets us put artillery on towers. Why the fuck did they push their already strained AI so far past the breaking point with all that added shit?
Because the AI got a "rework". The same kind of rework CA made in Rome 2.
is this worth getting on sale as of now?
Dude you just missed out on playing it for free.
But sure, with Immortal Empires available just by having WH3, and on a discount? Well worth it I think. Not dismissing any of the glaring flaws in the base game or its update schedule though, that shit has been embarrassing, but with the incoming Chorfs and patch I think it's the perfect time to hop in.
No, I will wait. 35% off isn't big enough. The game WILL be cheaper, just wait.
You have other games to play, you're in no hurry. Wait for the Chaos Dwards DLC to come out, the game will be even cheaper then, and its only a few months from now.
If you really want to buy it, don't get it directly on Steam. Other stores offer better discounts at pretty much all tmes.
>If you really want to buy it, don't get it directly on Steam. Other stores offer better discounts at pretty much all tmes.
Press X to doubt. Steam offers literal region pricing making 90% of all videogames cheap. The other 10% are retards that don't do regional pricing and hence they get zero dollars from me.
I thought they fixed that a while ago.
fixed what? Regional pricing isn't a bug you retard
Depends how much you like the added factions and how much on sale. If you're really into Chaos, Cathay, or Kiev or Ogres, then sure, it might be worth it at like 20% off. It's stand alone campaign is decent for the first go around and then extremely tedious afterwards, not unlike base game Vortex Campaign in 2. As for Immortal Empires I personally feel the added stuff pushes things a little to far into feeling clustered. Empire Campaigns in particular are a shitshow in 3 where you're pretty much guaranteed to be spending the game crawling back up from -5 Imperial Authority.
I still think they goofed making Belakor some hidden Legendary Lord you unlock during Chaos campaigns as opposed to being his own Legendary Lord. The Build-A-Belakor is a fun gimmick for Daemon Prince but can't really carry him.
Daemon Prince was interesting and being able to rock full armies of each monogod with their own greater daemon lord was fucking awesome but his economy was fucking AWFUL.
So what's the best AI mod so we can shut these shitposter's mouth up?
I fucking shitposters so much its unreal.
Bros.... it's finally time.
Well it be kino?
Only if they kept the hats.
Only if there's railroads.
Only if their end turn sound is demonic train whistle
>end turn sound
They're gone in III. Unless it was restored in one of the previous patches
I was playing few weeks ago and still heard their kino one gong, also funny Empire trumpet
Alright but I distinctly remember Kislev, Cathay and Daemon factions not having any. Has that been changed?
Because that's pretty indicative of if III races will have any unique end turn sounds.
>12 years later Shogun 2 is still the only TW game with decent siege battles
Siege battles got monkey pawned too much.
What's the most fun base game (including tw1&2) Immortal Empire campaign?
Empire as Karl Franz in any game.
Franz, Zhao Ming, Skarbrand or Thorgrim
I didn't find any of the Warhammer 2 starting lords to be particularly outstanding, maybe Malekith and Mazdamundi are okay
>cpu instantly 90°
I've 34°C at max
Cap FPS to 60 and your heat issues should disappear, but you'll need to do it through Nvidia control panel or whatever your PC's equivalent is
no you don't
EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE GUIDE:
In order of importance (You don't have to change all of these settings):
>Major Performance Boosts
1) Set Shadow Detail to exactly "Medium"; Turn Screen Space Shadows OFF.
2) Reduce Anti-Aliasing as much you're willing to sacrifice visual fidelity.
3) Set Fog to low. You might want to do this anyway, even on higher-end rigs, for campaign map performance.
>Minor Performance Boosts
4) Set Lighting Quality to low.
5) Turn SSAO off and Screen Space Reflections off.
6) Despite also having large performance impact, reducing VFX Detail below High is not advised unless necessary, it negatively impacts readability during battles.
7) Grass Detail, reduce settings.
Next, set the following (all users)
>Depth of Field OFF
Texture Filtering, Tree/Unit/Terrain/Building Detail, Portholes, and Cloth Simulation all have minimal or no impact on performance. Turning on Unlimited Video Memory may help.
Other Issues of Note:
>Turn off TAA if you're getting a shiny/silver effect on units.
>Insert "-dx11" in launch options may increase FPS for some users on the campaign map.
>If you see performance issues mid-battle, or during large battles, consider reducing Corpse Lifespan from permanent to 120, 60, or 30.
>If you're a high-end user having issues on the campaign map with your GPU overheating, clean your fucking case, and manually set the maximum framerate for WH2/WH3 in the nvidia control panel.
Yeah I do and I've i5-11400, just change paste from time to time on your processor, clean your fan or better, replace default fan with some actually good cooler.
It wasn't worth the wait whatsoever, but it is pretty good at the moment. It still needs a shitload amount of patches and race reworks, but it's absolutely playable. I desperately want a Kugath rework because I really want to like Nurgle, but Christ he is absolute dogshit compared to the three other gods.
Is there any reason not to just beeline to the best unit for every faction and use nothing but that for the entire rest of the game?
Every combined arms army I make ends up shit compared to pure spam. Even pure ranged armies do better without any frontline at all, or maybe a single entity hero or two at most.
They are usually expensive and in the late game it may be better to field more but cheaper armies, especially with WH3 nerfed supply lines.
It's called doomstacks and are the meta since the first game.
That's why mp is more fun than sp since you use more than 2 type of units.
>buy tw3 for cheap
>creamapi the bitch
so MUCH CONTENT LADS
unironcally wish it worked better on steamdik tho
Does it run well on LInux? Ideally on Arch btw
Stop being autistic
I don't have the patience to learn a new OS either but windows is fucking shit
The only person I know IRL who uses Linux is trans
have a nice day
Grow he fuck up holy shit, install W10.
People are already using W11, grandpa.
i dont get the updates
if i already have immortal empires then why would i buy warhammer 3? do they get new units?
If you don't have Warhammer 3, you don't have Immortal Empires
You have Mortal Empires, which is something like half the size of IE
Are you fucking retarded? None of the recent updates apply to W2, only to W3. W2 is literally worthless garbage.
The updates are to fix the broken piece of shit game anyway. The only reason to buy 3 is if you really really like one of the factions in it
1 and 2 were easily my most played games during thier respective lifespans.
I only have about 20 hours on 3.
Trash game, trash company
>1 and 2 were easily my most played games
That's sad as fuck. Imagine wasting that much time on an inferior product.
Meanwhile I bought the entire franchise for pennies last weekend and I have been having infinite fun for days already, I have enough content to last me a year.
Do you not understand time?
>I played this game for an entire full day's worth of hours, I totally hate it!!!!
If you think 20 hours is a long time you shouldn't be on Ganker
No, the AI is still braindead.
If you play, vanilla on difficulty easy/easy yeah that is true
I mean VH/LG don't actually improve AI. It merely makes enemies more of a damage sponge and cranks up the gold, attrition, instant build cheats the AI benefits from
Putting the difficulty up just gives the AI cheats
He is saying you unmodded retards don't know anything about the AI of this game.
The battle AI does not change with difficulty. Putting one unit of cav to the side will cause the AI to break off multiple units to chase it around instead of just screening me or bringing their own cav to counter charge. Instead they will charge their cav directly into my anti large units.
learn to read
Bruh tw3 ai is dumb as shit
I couldn't beat h/h tw2 but I can play turn 10 ultimate crisis VH/VH TW3
It's okay. Some stuff they changed for races is gay, and most of the WH3 siege additions are awful. The big map is good tho.
>no chink sisters of avelorn reskin
Do you think a person that turns in a project one year late and still half finished should be rewarded and praised for it?
its all so tiring...
>Want to play the game
>Get bored by turn 20
>Every battle is just an auto resolve since i dont want to wait 2 minutes (with an SSD) to play the RTS part of the game
Game is close to being amazing, but i think overall the total war series is pretty shallow mechanics wise
