MM edges out totk for me. Did not like the dungeons at all in tears. They still need to improve but the expansive world is still pretty cool. Caves end up getting dull after the 5th one and shrines genuinely ruin the suspense of exploration.
I loved botw but can't stand totk and I feel crazy for thinking this.
Totk is a direct downgrade to botw in many ways. A lot of the reshuffled Hyrule content is just straight fricking worse than what we had in botw, most notably Eventide where they didn't even try. Sage powers are terrible aside from Tulin and useless against white tier enemies combat wise, they also have a worse input method. Both Depth and sky islands are mostly terrible. Even the fricking Shrines are like half the size of Divine Beasts and have no interesting gimmicks at all.
For me the only actual improvement over botw were the caves. cave system is whjat they actually put some thought and work into. Should've just deleted the entire Depth and just make even more caves with an occasional deep cave with unique content.

now if they can just have this with a story progression that felt as good as the old games. I like botw/totk a lot, I don't even care that there's not an order to the dungeons. But do the dungeons have to be the same shit just different themed? Every dungeon and the people involved in those areas around the dungeon were a lot more interesting in pretty much every other 3D zelda, to me anyways. Just feels like there's a bit too much focus on "make your own adventure." when the formula is the same for every main story part of the game:

The difference with TotK is that the dungeon itself is just the end point after several hours of handcrafted adventuring. The Rito quest alone - from Outlook Landing to Hebra mountains and the skies above - was about a dozen hours of the finest open world adventuring I've ever played and blows every Zelda game out of the water.

I really liked the map, I enjoyed the puzzles, and had fun building dumb shit. I found the shrines and cutscenes way better than BOTW. And I'm really happy TOTK finally shut up all those homosexuals who kept posting "WHY NO DUNGEONS IN BOTW??" I understand how people can find the rehashed stuff from BOTW annoying, but my biggest gripe with the game was that you can't make menu shortcuts, and the companion ghosts are difficult (read: annoying) to use. I don't know why Nintendo didn't program another menu to the whistle button for sage commands. There's real shit to complain about in the game, but braindead homosexuals keep posting about irrelevant bullshit in every Zelda thread.

Anyone else play this in may, thought it was like a 10/10 from start to finish, but then two months latter the game feels so dissapointing and underwhelming when you sit back and ponder on the experience. The biggest is the lack of a new map, completely inexcusable, no amount of cope will change my mind. Botw is one of my top 3 zeldas, and i’d still give totk a 7/10, it just could of been so much more.
I'm still playing it. I'm doing the last mainline quest but there's tons of sidequests and then the final confrontation with Ganon to do. I hope to get it finished before Starfield but I'll honestly be sad when I do, its easily the best adventure I've ever played. I've been playing other games in between over the past few months but everything feels so restrictive and simplistic compared to TotK. I caught myself trying to Ascend through floors while playing Jedi Survivor lmao
