They've only just recently started their marketing campaign for global release. CN release being really rough doesn't help either, a couple of stolen asset controversies, really buggy 1.0 because of rushed release and generally being of lower production value than genshin got a lot of people to write the game off.
From what people who actually play CN version are saying they've fixed up most of the major bugs and keep on improving the game though so I'm pretty hopeful.

the pvp isn't part of the actual mmo though, you just click a button in a menu to queue then you zip off to a 1v1 arena mode where your gear/levels don't matter (although which weapons/characters you gacha'd for still does)
Checked this out. It seems like they've just copy pasted Genshin and added a few things. It's almost identical. Basic China game dev, no surprises there. Still, I always wonder how that shit can be legal. Might give it a try when it's released.

Rerolling is useless, you'll get most of standard weapons at least c0 after 1-2 months. And standard weapons you focus on will be c6 in 1-3 months as well. That's all because you can buy dupes for any rolled standard weapon for 120 cashback (1 roll=1 cashback). And you get a shit ton of standard pulls during map exploration (basically the analogue of genshin chest instead of giving 2 gems gives you the entire gold or purple standard pull).
Event weapons are harder to obtain, since you mostly have to spend gems on red event pulls, but still easy, 110-120 pulls and you guarantee c0 and 50% for c1 (and c1 is almost always the most powerspike the weapon gets). You can have 110-120 pulls f2p just by skipping 1 banner mostly.
There is also chip gacha for chips that you insert in weapons, but that's for whales like weapon banner in genshin, you don't do that. You get a lot of standard gacha pulls and chip just playing the game, and they are not that worse that event ones.

Compared to Genshin is this a game you can drop in do dailies in 15-30 minutes then frick off until an event or does it keep you invested like some other MMOs
The playtime is quite flexible with new updates. The only mandatory daily stuff that you need to do every day takes like 10-15 minutes. And it doesn't even include vitality (resin) activities, since the cap now is 360 (full charge from 0 takes 2 days) and you can skip 1 day. And if you still don't have time, you have a way to spend energy by literally 2 clicks (but it's not profitable).
Other contents are more weekly-based now, so it's handy if you don't have much time during the week but have quite a time on weekends.
But if you really want to exhaust every possible contents every day, it might take several hours every day, so there won't ever be a feeling of having nothing to do.

From what I hear "characters" you roll for are more just their weapons. Your appearance can be anyone you want from your own created character to any weapon characters you roll. it was technically illegal for ToF to make a PC version or they didn't have a license from the government or some bullshit though so even on the PW pc client you needed to install the game on your phone first, log in on the phone, and then scan a qr code on PC. I guess this was supposed to make it "technically" count as a pc emulator for the mobile version to get through a legal loophole, even though it was literally just a separate pc client, no emu.

Worth noting all I'm about to say is based on information I got from youtube videos.
There's 3 types of banners: Common banner (purple), Standard banner (yellow), and Limited banner (Red).
Common banner has no pity at all and uses purple roll spheres, in exchange for no pity the game constantly showers you with rolls for this banner (Like 4 rolls off dailies alone).
Standard banner has pity that isn't shared for any other banner but this one is up basically forever, uses yellow spheres, has a soft pity around 30 and hard SSR pity at 80 rolls and hard SR pity at 10 rolls.
Worth noting pity doesn't reset if you get an SSR, if you get one the counter keeps ticking up to 80, you will ALWAYS get an SSR every 80 rolls.
You will also get a spark token on each roll, then you can buy dupes with this currency, yes only dupes, you can't buy new stuff here.
Limited banner has pity that isn't shared with any other banner or with other limited banners, once the banner swaps out the Limited spark tokens get converted to Standard spark tokens and your pity resets. It also uses red spheres, you want to use your black cube currency ONLY on these red spheres.
The limited banner also has a 80 SSR hard pity like standard, only a 50% rate up, no guaranteed coin flip, but you can outright buy the banner character at 120 rolls (by using 120 limited banner spark tokens). >Does pity carry over between banners?

Only limited banners have a true spark at 120 rolls, which according to some information I have seen is doable to save up for by skipping around 1.5 limited banners but I would not trust that.
Just as a reminder, weapons and characters come as a package deal, you roll for only the weapons and if you get them you get the character with them.

Fellas, this gives me an idea, we know that we need 120 red tokens to pity the limtied character, and we get one token per roll, but a video I saw yesterday said that if you pull a dupe of a maxed SR on that banner, it counts as 2 tokens towards the 120 pity.
So perhaps, if want to minmax things, we should ignore Nemesis banner until we got the SRs maxed.
In a less than ideal scenario, since you are guaranteed a SR every 10 rolls, it means at least 11 SRs should drop before the 120 pity(not counting the SSR at 80), and if each SR counts as 2 tokens then pity technically goes down from 120 to 100
But this is me theorizing based on what I heard so feel free to call me a moron
There's 3 character banners, purple, yellow and red.
Purple is the common banner that he said gives you practically infinite R and SRs because the game vomits purple balls at you to roll on it.
Yellow is the standard banner and the rolls are less common.
Red is the limited banner, and Nemesis is a limited banner.
Your rolls on yellow and purple don't do anything for your red token pity.
You could save enough yellow spark tokens to get dupes for nemesis after her rerun at least.
Thats not what I meant, having a "C6" SR apparently makes all of its future dupes transfer into 2 red tokens when you roll that SR on limited banner

From my experience anyone trying to make a tier list at launch is a clueless moron that doesn't know anything they are talking about.
From there tierlists revolve around popularity contests of what manages to trivialize content for morons.
There's a high chance they are confusing normal account progression and easily being able to level something to endgame levels with powercreep.
Apparently if you speedrun the entire fricking game content at launch, then maybe.
Worth noting that's just from achievements alone, it doesn't include weeklies or event rewards.

claudia (first cn limited) took around 6 months to get added to standard, everyone that isn't a collab character gets added too apparently
but you still have to get lucky and actually get them, so good luck with that, yes you get way more yellows and purples than reds but it's still down to luck
Dropping less than full pity on the last day is a bad move, may as well just skip and save yourself the potential frustration of what will feel like a bricked account and likely cause you to quit.
Or if you decide you really like the game a few days in buy whatever cheap monthly pack they offer and that'll probably cover it. Though personally I try not to spend anything for the first few weeks at least to make sure it's a game I'm not going to drop.

I looked at the upcoming CN characters and I want nobody aside from Nemesis, everyone I want is on standard.
Even if I drop every red on her and still don't get her, saving for her rerun is a non-issue.
If I get really lucky and get her, depending on the freebies we get I may even be able to roll enough to get extra dupes on the rerun and buy the rest to max her out using the standard spark tokens later.

according to this thread, SSR ice bow is the only standard weapon that isn't completely powercrept on CN (although it's still kinda powercrept, it is just the budget cheaper/worse option). so it is the longterm option
otherwise wait until you get your SSR pity from the gold orb banner and choose selector based on that depending on whether you want to go for tank, healer, or DPS set effect. e.g. if you get Coco Ritter (SSR heal staff) from standard banner then you might want to use your selector on the shield cube guy for the double support setup and healer set effect.
If you get Meryl (SSR ice greatsword), then you might want to go for tank setup, so either use selector on King (SSR fire scythe) and pair with the SR hammer for tank resonance, or use selector on the SSR shield/switch-axe (i forget the character's name) to have two SSR tank weapons)

It seems to take around 40-60 minutes depending on how fast you are, if you are rerolling for reds you only have to play until unlocking the gacha rather than do the full 30 gold nucleus run.
Also apparently the login bonus event on release gives you a single red on the first day?.
Only 3-4 reds per reroll, but it should be possible to reroll for her, not even a full 10 pull of reds, but it's doable assuming they give all the rewards (they should) and you are willing to test your luck, so good luck, we are gonna need it.
Just remember to download the game a day before release, make your character, save it, then load the preset on every reroll to speed it up. Worst case scenario, just save up all your rolls for her rerun and pretend it's her normal banner.
Wow that actually makes me feel a lot better. I spent 2 weeks rerolling for keking in genshin (and didn't even get her after 100 rerolls). Seems doable if I won't have to go through a mega long process to get to the rolling.
Is there a website that has tier lists or something to give me an idea of who is worth picking? I was interested in supporting but I don't know enough about the game to know if that is something viable to main. I thought it might be easier to keep up as a support and let the whales go for dps. Is that a viable strategy or should I focus on a dps character first?
There are tier lists, but all of them are contradictory.
If you want to metagay pick King, Meryl/Shamir or Coco, in that order, they are basically universally usable and IIRC still see use on CN (in PvE).
As for raids and co-op content, IIRC pretty much any random group of morons can clear content as long as they have a healer.
From what I can see, normal exploration content isn't that hard so you don't have to metagay solo, it's only on join operations (raids) that you need to care about meta a little, but levels and matrices (artifacts/gear) is far more important than specific characters.
I would say yes it's viable but don't base your rolls on what's meta, it's never worth it as a f2p, but if you REALLY want to metagay as a healer everyone recommends Coco.

Nemesis isn't a dedicated healer, she's a DPS with sustain.

She still counts for support/healer resonance though so you can use her plus one of Coco/Zero to get the healer bonus in party play.
element is much less important than genshin, but many enemies have specific elemental resistances, for example you might fight an enemy who has ice-resistant armor and then once you break the armor he has fire-resistant flesh underneath. so it's kind of important to have at least two damage types, but IIRC the damage resistance is not that severe and you can just power through it
I broke ice resistant armor all the time with Meryl's weapon (the ice greatsword, which has great shatter/armor-break multipliers).

something i hated about genshin long term is pretty much needing all 4 main elements and a claymore on you at all times unless you had the metagay dps to burst down everything before their shields were up
what that meant was unless you had a favorite on each element (pyro, cryo, hydro, electro) the game locked you into using 3 characters you probably don't care about just to make the game playable

It's about just as bad as genshin on release, but has more rolls.
Apparently you only need the 35 minute run for red nuclei for nemesis.

Turns out of you REALLY speedrun it, nemesis rerolls take 15 minutes (plus loading times), which is the fastest possible time you can unlock the gacha and claim prereg rewards.
I hope you have fun making 50-100 salted reroll accounts, if not more just to be safe, but hey at least it's something to do during these few days while we wait.
Reminder to pre register anyway even if you aren't rerolling, getting a pre reg account means you can preload the game and create your character a day earlier before release.

element only does 2 things:
1 - the damage type you do, so you can equip %fire damage matrix set if you use fire weapon, but you shouldn't use it against fire-resistant enemy
2 - the "charge" effect. once you get 100% super meter, in addition to getting a stocked super usage you also get an immediate effect based on your weapon, e.g. fire weapons apply a DoT for 2s and ice weapons freeze the target for 2s (very annoying in pvp). aberration does picrelated

I was fun but SEGA were such stingy fricks and lazy the game was left to rot before they updated it and added new shit.
Plus it's a grind fest with no end game or rewarding you for your time.
They took inspiration from the original PSO2 more than NGS, the gameplay feels like the middle point between successor classes and normal classes in the original PSO2.
The open world while you could argue it takes a lot from genshin, it only does so because genshin mechanics are so basic anyone could have thought of them.
From what I hear while there's content to do, it's not that grindy either.
I hope they learned from content issue that Genshin has and same with NGS. Players NEED something to do that's worth doing. Farming event items for exchange (NGS) or doing mundane tasked for minuscule rewards (Genshin) does not cut it. If you have a world to build, then build it.

Basically there is no need to bot in this game. There is no autistic gold farm from mobs, no market, no auction, nothing from your average open economy mmo. It's also no nft and other cancer stuff. So should be fine.
If somebody is still curious about if they can get Nemesis from the start, here's my maths:
1) If you wait with pulling red orbs and instead pull a lot of gold ones beforehand, you'll have a lot of 6-starred SRs, and each SR after getting 6 stars gives you 1 extra cashback token. That way to get 120 cashback hard pity, you'll only need 110 pulls at max
2) On CN we didn't get our first event banner from day 1, we got it after 1 week, so I spent gems worth of like 80 pulls to standard banner.
AND AFTER THAT I still managed to pull like 30-40 more, smth like that. Yeah, the banner started later and thus ended also later, but it was shorter than what we are going to get (~18-19 days vs global full 3 weeks)

You create an MC, no classes, class is decided by resonance or in other words how many DPS/tank/support weapons you have equipped.
You roll, you get weapons.
If you get a weapon you can also use that character as active character instead of your MC, level them enough to unlocks passive skills.
Character level is tied to the MC and his equipment, you don't have to level everyone individually.
However, you do have to level weapons individually as well as their matrices/artifacts.
It's pretty damn simple if you don't compare it to genshit.
I have seen actual MMOs with 20 different currencies, 6 currencies is nothing (dark crystal, 3 types of balls and 2 types of matrix roll tickets).
Not exactly a bad thing, ecelebs are always a raw demerit to any fanbase.
But it's particularly bad with this game because genshitters both in CN and global keep trying to sabotage it.
There are quite some of them, but they're not that large. And for those who are, tof probably won't be their main game (unless gayshit screws up the 2nd anniversary so hard, people will finally have somewhere to go to protest).

well, when every resource runs out the only way to get limited rolls if by dailies, weeklies, etc, same as genshin.
thats why i stated "Limited" rolls, standards characters, while good early on, they are just not the same as limited characters, which tend to play better or look better.
As for everything else, i don't think is as easy as saying more dupes = better because we don't know how important they are, genshin constellations (and 5* weapons) are overkill but they may be a neccesity on ToF.

i will put it this way because you clearly didn't get it
let's say you get the 4*s to max pot in tof, which is piss easy with the purple and gold banners, once you do that, if you roll on the red/limited banner and get a 4* which you already had at c6, you get extra red/limited glitter, so the guarantee drops from 120 further and further the more 4* max dupes you get, cn players say with max const 4*s the guarantee is around 100-110 even with shit luck

Let me repeat my point again. Im not saying ToF doesn't have better odds, because it does, my point is that if we receive the same amount of LIMITED rolls, it may take longer to roll on the limited banner because you roll 120 times, everytime, rolling less than 120 times every limited banner is a waste unless you are near pity and you are willing to risk losing the 50/50 and the limited currency you get.
In genshin, even if you don't have enough for 160 rolls, you can still roll and try your luck which happens a lot of times, specially for f2p.
There's also the point of "character value" which is harder to determine between games, in genshin as soon as you get your abbys teams, you just roll for who you like and thats pretty much it, don't know how well that applies in ToF.
don't forget about your limited matrix bro.
i get what you mean. this game is not genshin and it's likely that star advancements and limited matrices may be way more important than in genshin where the difficulty cap is abyss and the competition is 0.

Literally botted, the summer games fest trailer got 200k views in the first 2 days then on day 3 it boosted straight up to 2.1 million. What's the excuse for that one? 90% of people didn't care until day 3? Then day 4 viewership completely fell off a cliff again.

the 5* will depend on how bonus atk stacks, if it's additive like genshit (and most stat heavy games for that matter) then it's also a nothingburger from 10 + (3 * 10) or 40% to 5 + (3 * 5) or 20% both at max electrodes, if equipment pieces give stats on the range of 50% or higher on top of other kinds of buff stacking the stat loss is peanuts

Some MMOs will do this but some won't because they're run by shitters or don't care since they're making money anyway. Example PSO2:NGS. Has servers that are pretty much dead and others that are full and active. They won't merge dying or dead servers. EU servers literally have one server and is pretty much considered abandoned.

I don't know since they seemed to be using their OCs and I'm not familiar with the weapons, I just saw a white bar and the other guy having a hard time, though it was apparently because of lag and being an old video, maybe they balanced pvp later.
Since this is basically an mmo that means you will be walking forward quite a lot. In any real mmo they have an auto walk key you can toggle to make your character continuously walk until you toggle it or do something else. Saves a lot of pain holding down a key for hours on end especially for ojisans like me. I have heard that this game won't have it unfortunately because gacha devs never think of this issue.
So I put together a script in autohotkey to serve the same function. You can change the "f" key to whatever key you would like and it will hold down "w" until you press it again. I also added a toggle to pause the script "f1" if you need to type or something or just want to turn it off for a while. Hope this helps anyone suffering from life long gameritis.

From my experience EU servers have not been kind to EU players. Lost ark EU players got completely buttfricked and left out to dry. I would try the game and see if you can play on an NA server if you want long term server health. I do know that the tof discords have surveys about the servers so you could check there to get an idea of which might be popular.

Still at it, the extra dark crystals from server problems are a lifesaver.
A whole 8 red balls in 17 minutes, but no Nemesis in sight yet, not even an SSR so I can complain about getting fricked by the 50% rate up.
SSR rate is 0.75% with a pity at 80 on standard, 80 is 50/50 on limited banners and you spark at 120 by consuming tokens (1 token gained per 1 roll).
The game has many gachas but you don't need god tier luck to clear things. You can have a whale or someone with god tier luck carry you.
The game won't get serious population drops until monday and then it'll drop hard all week, the issue for now is the timegating. People can only play for about 3 hours now whereas yesterday had about 7-8 hours of content. Same amount of overall players, but lower concurrently playing.
Everyone's talking about this like it was gonna be the next big thing. I checked it out on the play store and was surprised to see it have 3.3 out of 5 stars, that's significantly lower than most games I play. Figured you guys might have an idea why that might be, was there some sort of issue with the launch or something?

CN release being really rough doesn't help either, a couple of stolen asset controversies, really buggy 1.0 because of rushed release and generally being of lower production value than genshin got a lot of people to write the game off.
From what people who actually play CN version are saying they've fixed up most of the major bugs and keep on improving the game though so I'm pretty hopeful.

the pvp isn't part of the actual mmo though, you just click a button in a menu to queue then you zip off to a 1v1 arena mode where your gear/levels don't matter (although which weapons/characters you gacha'd for still does)

It was heavily shit on by chinese ppl on release, so strong that even after fixing everything and going the right way it's still 4.5 on Bilibili. That, and marketing before release is quite lacking still, it should change after the thing comes out.
Rerolling is useless, you'll get most of standard weapons at least c0 after 1-2 months. And standard weapons you focus on will be c6 in 1-3 months as well. That's all because you can buy dupes for any rolled standard weapon for 120 cashback (1 roll=1 cashback). And you get a shit ton of standard pulls during map exploration (basically the analogue of genshin chest instead of giving 2 gems gives you the entire gold or purple standard pull).
Event weapons are harder to obtain, since you mostly have to spend gems on red event pulls, but still easy, 110-120 pulls and you guarantee c0 and 50% for c1 (and c1 is almost always the most powerspike the weapon gets). You can have 110-120 pulls f2p just by skipping 1 banner mostly.
There is also chip gacha for chips that you insert in weapons, but that's for whales like weapon banner in genshin, you don't do that. You get a lot of standard gacha pulls and chip just playing the game, and they are not that worse that event ones.

If you're full f2p, yes, you only spend gems on event weapon banners and one-time resource packs for completing some certain contents.
Other progression stuff is either not worth it for f2p and is better to be replaced by f2p-stuff, or just grindable by default.

Compared to Genshin is this a game you can drop in do dailies in 15-30 minutes then frick off until an event or does it keep you invested like some other MMOs
The playtime is quite flexible with new updates. The only mandatory daily stuff that you need to do every day takes like 10-15 minutes. And it doesn't even include vitality (resin) activities, since the cap now is 360 (full charge from 0 takes 2 days) and you can skip 1 day. And if you still don't have time, you have a way to spend energy by literally 2 clicks (but it's not profitable).
Other contents are more weekly-based now, so it's handy if you don't have much time during the week but have quite a time on weekends.
But if you really want to exhaust every possible contents every day, it might take several hours every day, so there won't ever be a feeling of having nothing to do.

i played on CN launch, here is my evaluation

i found it pretty fun and a lot more impactful-feeling than genshin's since you can do stuff like launch enemies in the air and do air combos, etc. but some weapons feel a lot clunkier than others, like the bow feels pretty crap to play and the SR hammer has a super limited moveset.

it was technically illegal for ToF to make a PC version or they didn't have a license from the government or some bullshit though so even on the PW pc client you needed to install the game on your phone first, log in on the phone, and then scan a qr code on PC. Worth noting all I'm about to say is based on information I got from youtube videos.
There's 3 types of banners: Common banner (purple), Standard banner (yellow), and Limited banner (Red).
Common banner has no pity at all and uses purple roll spheres, in exchange for no pity the game constantly showers you with rolls for this banner (Like 4 rolls off dailies alone).
Standard banner has pity that isn't shared for any other banner but this one is up basically forever, uses yellow spheres, has a soft pity around 30 and hard SSR pity at 80 rolls and hard SR pity at 10 rolls.
Worth noting pity doesn't reset if you get an SSR, if you get one the counter keeps ticking up to 80, you will ALWAYS get an SSR every 80 rolls.
You will also get a spark token on each roll, then you can buy dupes with this currency, yes only dupes, you can't buy new stuff here.
Limited banner has pity that isn't shared with any other banner or with other limited banners, once the banner swaps out the Limited spark tokens get converted to Standard spark tokens and your pity resets. It also uses red spheres, you want to use your black cube currency ONLY on these red spheres.
The limited banner also has a 80 SSR hard pity like standard, only a 50% rate up, no guaranteed coin flip, but you can outright buy the banner character at 120 rolls (by using 120 limited banner spark tokens).

TLDR: No.

Only limited banners have a true spark at 120 rolls, which according to some information I have seen is doable to save up for by skipping around 1.5 limited banners but I would not trust that.

purple mostly gives farmable items and xp fodder, it gives you infinite R/SRs so you will easily have max dupes of all of those within week 1 but only around 1/300 chance for an SSR.
then there is standard character, limited character, standard matrix, and limited matrix banners
matrixes are the gacha equipment, you can farm SR in game but SSR are gacha only and have the best set effects. including a signature set for each character.

Fellas, this gives me an idea, we know that we need 120 red tokens to pity the limtied character, and we get one token per roll, but a video I saw yesterday said that if you pull a dupe of a maxed SR on that banner, it counts as 2 tokens towards the 120 pity.
So perhaps, if want to minmax things, we should ignore Nemesis banner until we got the SRs maxed.
In a less than ideal scenario, since you are guaranteed a SR every 10 rolls, it means at least 11 SRs should drop before the 120 pity(not counting the SSR at 80), and if each SR counts as 2 tokens then pity technically goes down from 120 to 100
But this is me theorizing based on what I heard so feel free to call me a moron
There's 3 character banners, purple, yellow and red.
Purple is the common banner that he said gives you practically infinite R and SRs because the game vomits purple balls at you to roll on it.
Yellow is the standard banner and the rolls are less common.
Red is the limited banner, and Nemesis is a limited banner.
Your rolls on yellow and purple don't do anything for your red token pity.
You could save enough yellow spark tokens to get dupes for nemesis after her rerun at least.
Thats not what I meant, having a "C6" SR apparently makes all of its future dupes transfer into 2 red tokens when you roll that SR on limited banner

That means exploring is a must, because that's what gives the most purple balls, more purple balls means getting more SRs, maxed out SR dupes means more red token drops.
You can get SSR Matrices from Dungeons as well, not the Limited SSR Matrices, just the regular ones.

If you really want a guideline, what I have seen to be consistent across some tier lists is "Meryl good, King good, Samir good, Shiro is okay, Zero fricking sucks" .

From what I have seen whales can solo world bosses and raids, not even turbowhales either, just a good character and a good player, you may manage with no tanks but healers may be required if only to deal with chip damage.

You can probably manage with Coco or the SR healer, given Coco is on standard you will eventually get her anyway so no need to use the selector if global does get it.

claudia (first cn limited) took around 6 months to get added to standard, everyone that isn't a collab character gets added too apparently
but you still have to get lucky and actually get them, so good luck with that, yes you get way more yellows and purples than reds but it's still down to luck
Dropping less than full pity on the last day is a bad move, may as well just skip and save yourself the potential frustration of what will feel like a bricked account and likely cause you to quit.
Or if you decide you really like the game a few days in buy whatever cheap monthly pack they offer and that'll probably cover it. Though personally I try not to spend anything for the first few weeks at least to make sure it's a game I'm not going to drop.
I looked at the upcoming CN characters and I want nobody aside from Nemesis, everyone I want is on standard.
Even if I drop every red on her and still don't get her, saving for her rerun is a non-issue.
If I get really lucky and get her, depending on the freebies we get I may even be able to roll enough to get extra dupes on the rerun and buy the rest to max her out using the standard spark tokens later.

according to this thread, SSR ice bow is the only standard weapon that isn't completely powercrept on CN (although it's still kinda powercrept, it is just the budget cheaper/worse option). so it is the longterm option
otherwise wait until you get your SSR pity from the gold orb banner and choose selector based on that depending on whether you want to go for tank, healer, or DPS set effect. e.g. if you get Coco Ritter (SSR heal staff) from standard banner then you might want to use your selector on the shield cube guy for the double support setup and healer set effect.
If you get Meryl (SSR ice greatsword), then you might want to go for tank setup, so either use selector on King (SSR fire scythe) and pair with the SR hammer for tank resonance, or use selector on the SSR shield/switch-axe (i forget the character's name) to have two SSR tank weapons)

It seems to take around 40-60 minutes depending on how fast you are, if you are rerolling for reds you only have to play until unlocking the gacha rather than do the full 30 gold nucleus run.
Also apparently the login bonus event on release gives you a single red on the first day?.
Only 3-4 reds per reroll, but it should be possible to reroll for her, not even a full 10 pull of reds, but it's doable assuming they give all the rewards (they should) and you are willing to test your luck, so good luck, we are gonna need it.
Just remember to download the game a day before release, make your character, save it, then load the preset on every reroll to speed it up.
Worst case scenario, just save up all your rolls for her rerun and pretend it's her normal banner.
Wow that actually makes me feel a lot better. I spent 2 weeks rerolling for keking in genshin (and didn't even get her after 100 rerolls). Seems doable if I won't have to go through a mega long process to get to the rolling.

There are tier lists, but all of them are contradictory.
If you want to metagay pick King, Meryl/Shamir or Coco, in that order, they are basically universally usable and IIRC still see use on CN (in PvE).
As for raids and co-op content, IIRC pretty much any random group of morons can clear content as long as they have a healer.
From what I can see, normal exploration content isn't that hard so you don't have to metagay solo, it's only on join operations (raids) that you need to care about meta a little, but levels and matrices (artifacts/gear) is far more important than specific characters.
I would say yes it's viable but don't base your rolls on what's meta, it's never worth it as a f2p, but if you REALLY want to metagay as a healer everyone recommends Coco.

Anon, this is because coco is the only SSR healer in the game.
The other SSR support character is Zero, but his weapon only gives shields so it is useless for solo healing. You use it alongside Coco's staff to get the 2-part healer set bonus.
at least that goes for the launch lineup, idk who they added later since I only played for 1-3 weeks around CN launch

actually correcting myself, Nemesis the launch limited banner char is a healer as well, IDK how she compares to Coco.
On CN launch the limited char was Claudia the physical katana instead.
Nemesis isn't a dedicated healer, she's a DPS with sustain.
She has far more damage than healing.

element is much less important than genshin, but many enemies have specific elemental resistances, for example you might fight an enemy who has ice-resistant armor and then once you break the armor he has fire-resistant flesh underneath. so it's kind of important to have at least two damage types, but IIRC the damage resistance is not that severe and you can just power through it
I broke ice resistant armor all the time with Meryl's weapon (the ice greatsword, which has great shatter/armor-break multipliers).

something i hated about genshin long term is pretty much needing all 4 main elements and a claymore on you at all times unless you had the metagay dps to burst down everything before their shields were up

How long does it take to get to where you can roll? I watched a video and seemed like a really long time.
About 30-40 minutes, closer to 60 for a full 30 gold nuclei run.
It's about just as bad as genshin on release, but has more rolls.
Apparently you only need the 35 minute run for red nuclei for nemesis.
Sucks she was the one character I wanted the most. Guess I will have to go all out one more time master, please forgive me.

Turns out of you REALLY speedrun it, nemesis rerolls take 15 minutes (plus loading times), which is the fastest possible time you can unlock the gacha and claim prereg rewards.
I hope you have fun making 50-100 salted reroll accounts, if not more just to be safe, but hey at least it's something to do during these few days while we wait.
Reminder to pre register anyway even if you aren't rerolling, getting a pre reg account means you can preload the game and create your character a day earlier before release.

element only does 2 things:
1 - the damage type you do, so you can equip %fire damage matrix set if you use fire weapon, but you shouldn't use it against fire-resistant enemy
2 - the "charge" effect. once you get 100% super meter, in addition to getting a stocked super usage you also get an immediate effect based on your weapon, e.g. fire weapons apply a DoT for 2s and ice weapons freeze the target for 2s (very annoying in pvp). aberration does picrelated

They took inspiration from the original PSO2 more than NGS, the gameplay feels like the middle point between successor classes and normal classes in the original PSO2.
The open world while you could argue it takes a lot from genshin, it only does so because genshin mechanics are so basic anyone could have thought of them.
From what I hear while there's content to do, it's not that grindy either.
I hope they learned from content issue that Genshin has and same with NGS. Players NEED something to do that's worth doing. Farming event items for exchange (NGS) or doing mundane tasked for minuscule rewards (Genshin) does not cut it. If you have a world to build, then build it.

Are Claudia and Cobalt-B gonna be in the standard pool on release? Basically there is no need to bot in this game. There is no autistic gold farm from mobs, no market, no auction, nothing from your average open economy mmo. It's also no nft and other cancer stuff. So should be fine.
If somebody is still curious about if they can get Nemesis from the start, here's my maths:
1) If you wait with pulling red orbs and instead pull a lot of gold ones beforehand, you'll have a lot of 6-starred SRs, and each SR after getting 6 stars gives you 1 extra cashback token. That way to get 120 cashback hard pity, you'll only need 110 pulls at max
2) On CN we didn't get our first event banner from day 1, we got it after 1 week, so I spent gems worth of like 80 pulls to standard banner.
AND AFTER THAT I still managed to pull like 30-40 more, smth like that. Yeah, the banner started later and thus ended also later, but it was shorter than what we are going to get (~18-19 days vs global full 3 weeks)

If you don't get event weapons c0 before they get into standard, it will be difficult to get them. You won't get them in SSR selectors and stuff, and with each event weapon added, the chance of getting it from standard will be lower and lower. And she's needed for electro teams. You don't need to pull for her only if you aim for other element teams.

You create an MC, no classes, class is decided by resonance or in other words how many DPS/tank/support weapons you have equipped.
You roll, you get weapons.
If you get a weapon you can also use that character as active character instead of your MC, level them enough to unlocks passive skills.
Character level is tied to the MC and his equipment, you don't have to level everyone individually.
However, you do have to level weapons individually as well as their matrices/artifacts.

let's say you get the 4*s to max pot in tof, which is piss easy with the purple and gold banners, once you do that, if you roll on the red/limited banner and get a 4* which you already had at c6, you get extra red/limited glitter, so the guarantee drops from 120 further and further the more 4* max dupes you get, cn players say with max const 4*s the guarantee is around 100-110 even with shit luck

Im not saying ToF doesn't have better odds, because it does, my point is that if we receive the same amount of LIMITED rolls, it may take longer to roll on the limited banner because you roll 120 times, everytime, rolling less than 120 times every limited banner is a waste unless you are near pity and you are willing to risk losing the 50/50 and the limited currency you get.
In genshin, even if you don't have enough for 160 rolls, you can still roll and try your luck which happens a lot of times, specially for f2p.
There's also the point of "character value" which is harder to determine between games, in genshin as soon as you get your abbys teams, you just roll for who you like and thats pretty much it, don't know how well that applies in ToF.

I don't know since they seemed to be using their OCs and I'm not familiar with the weapons, I just saw a white bar and the other guy having a hard time, though it was apparently because of lag and being an old video, maybe they balanced pvp later.
Since this is basically an mmo that means you will be walking forward quite a lot. In any real mmo they have an auto walk key you can toggle to make your character continuously walk until you toggle it or do something else. Saves a lot of pain holding down a key for hours on end especially for ojisans like me. I have heard that this game won't have it unfortunately because gacha devs never think of this issue.
So I put together a script in autohotkey to serve the same function. You can change the "f" key to whatever key you would like and it will hold down "w" until you press it again. I also added a toggle to pause the script "f1" if you need to type or something or just want to turn it off for a while. Hope this helps anyone suffering from life long gameritis.

From my experience EU servers have not been kind to EU players. Lost ark EU players got completely buttfricked and left out to dry. I would try the game and see if you can play on an NA server if you want long term server health. I do know that the tof discords have surveys about the servers so you could check there to get an idea of which might be popular.

Characters are skins with abilities I think you can apply those skills or buffs to your OC and never use the skins if you don't want to.

it's an old ass superstition about accounts having a seed created with the account itself and your rolls are based on this seed
long story short, a good seed early with good rolls (because you rerolled until you got good rolls) will guarantee good rolls later on as well, while an account with jack shit early will remain with shit luck

Still at it, the extra dark crystals from server problems are a lifesaver.
A whole 8 red balls in 17 minutes, but no Nemesis in sight yet, not even an SSR so I can complain about getting fricked by the 50% rate up.

Probably not. The 80 has a counter to guarantee SSR but the 30 never had one. You could get lucky? Only someone in the same situation would know.

SSR rate is 0.75% with a pity at 80 on standard, 80 is 50/50 on limited banners and you spark at 120 by consuming tokens (1 token gained per 1 roll).
The game has many gachas but you don't need god tier luck to clear things. You can have a whale or someone with god tier luck carry you.

The game won't get serious population drops until monday and then it'll drop hard all week, the issue for now is the timegating. People can only play for about 3 hours now whereas yesterday had about 7-8 hours of content. Same amount of overall players, but lower concurrently playing.
