I stopped spending. It's clear Hotta's incompetence, and Tencent's greed will lead to the game not improving, so why keep supporting them. I hope they prove me wrong with 4.0, but I doubt that's going to happen. Hell, I doubt I'll still be playing by the time global gets to 4.0
>Hell, I doubt I'll still be playing by the time global gets to 4.0
Feel same way, despite being day 1 player. For me cutoff is basically 3.4+and see CN collab reveal, but after that i will rather just leave than keep struggling.
I think 3.2 what the point that broke me, and i've heard 3.4 zone is just bad in terms of exploration.
The 3.4 zone is the rest of the frost map right? So far I don't hate the half that we've been given, it's a bit vertical but it doesn't take too long to explore unlike jotlville.
3.4 adds new towers obviously
I was looking for a vod, but seems like gateoo didn't make it so here is CN
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1nF411m7TL
Also CNbwos so much liked 3.4 map that they made mod for removing the blizzard(it probably improves FPS too lmao)
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1F34y1P7bb
Also on side note, who the frick asked for pokemon E7-style pvp?
I'm hoping the collectors let me stock up on enough energy so I can instantly max out a few statues in the new region and avoid any bullshit mechanics.
It's A3 tower upgrade, needs some dust before that+1800. It doesn't removes the blizzard though, just one shot mechanic forgot to attach pic, hope you rike 3.4

Pokemon pvp sounds like it could be a fun event, but it's a strange choice for a permanent gamemode.

That's a lot of balls, and from the video it also looks very vertical. I'm probably going to just rely on the collectors each week and accept that it'll take me longer to complete the statues.

i really have not been a fan of this ball collecting shit if im being honest
I'm hoping the collectors let me stock up on enough energy so I can instantly max out a few statues in the new region and avoid any bullshit mechanics.
They did a good job with the new region. I always leave the music turned on when I'm doing my initial exploration or story missions.
It gets turned off if I'm just sitting around idling though, since I'm probably listening to something else.
The thread dies on /vg/ if someone doesn't constantly bump it every hour or so. This is a slower board where threads can last for months, so we can just post naturally instead of having to constantly post trash to keep the thread alive.
/v/'s little sister boards tend to be AMAZINGLY dead, because all the reactionists and cool peeps hang out on Ganker instead
/vg/ is only slightly LESS active than Ganker, but you can still get bumped off eventually.
here, you can have months-long threads, and no one will give a shit. that's just how it is on slow boards.
/vg/ is not an option at this point. One of posters that pitybumps turned into schizo baiting for thread activity. Better to have slower thread but on topic discussion instead.
i honestly dont see it as a problem at least the anon who pity bumps can relax now and just be comfy in this thread and come and get info when needed and shitpost
IMO, people check out /vg/ first for a game general of their interest, and often some curious stragglers can step in. Having a general basically stands out as being a game with big enough anon staying power that it's worth playing for some people.
If you can't survive in /vg/, you're probably not fun enough compared to the other games in /vg/.
Not sure what the other regions are like, but I know we haven't picked up many new players on EU. I'm guessing NA might get a few more, but probably not very many, so I imagine not having a bread won't hurt too much.

I tried the pity bump thing for a few days, but turns out I'm not mentally ill enough to do something like that. I've got no idea how other niche generals do it, I assume they've just got very dedicated schizos.
True. The concept of Tower of Fantasy being a MMORPG with gacha gear progression should have been turned down at the start. You either make a gacha, or you make an MMO and go with a heavy cosmetic/QoL monetization model.
Pretty much everything other than exploration is is co-op, either killing waves of mobs or bosses. Some of it is instanced while some of it is open world.
And being a gacha, the difficulty correlates to how much you spend/how autistic you are/how long you've been playing.
yeah but thats not the same as for example in COD they took the entire design of a furry for a mtx and got sued for it nearly, for a sword and 1 event currency looking similar can be overlooked
you should see mw2 it has nicki minaj, 21 savage, lilith, inarius, hellsing, skeletor, doomguy and more its a clusterfrick you never know who is on what team
>as for example in COD they took the entire design of a furry for a mtx and got sued for it nearly
Technically ToF did the same thing for one of early Nemesis trailers, but i can't find it on youtube since it's been too long and it's obscure trailer that was deleted from bilibili
Googling bilibili OG link i found this reddit link with comparison

All those examples were made by a third party studio Perfect World hired because at the time Hotta had like 30 people so they couldn't do it themselves. Apparently those were also made with very little oversight from Hotta/PW, so they had little to do with the plagiarism. If you believe them, that is.
I can believe it at least, it would make no sense for them to deliberately plagiarise stuff and generate bad press. It’s far more likely that they just contracted work to a lazy company.
don't worry, they will all run away after a week at most and even this thread will need pity bumps
man, you know a general is fricking dead when TWO threads in a row died before bump limit
The odds of getting in just aren't very high since quite a few people are applying and there aren't many slots.
Special people who have priority don't have to apply, they just get let in directly.
they really fricked up really bad by making this a gacha mmo with severe powercreep and the game generally being not f2p friendly, and also fricking up countless times during the game's release
i really like how it has a character creator/customization feature, the wide variety of cool gadgets, i also loved how there were so many other people playing on day 1 alongside me, just casually exploring or following some story or waiting for bosses
such a shame
I think the biggest problem is that the endgame isn't casual friendly. Keeping up requires quite a lot of autism that normal people simply aren't willing to put in, which ends up deterring returning or new players.
>endgame isn't casual friendly
i can solo pretty much all endgame content at the moment i want it to be harder especially the JO and have those orbs that summon mobs that you need a team to help you with like Innars people were helping each other all the time with that
>endgame isn't casual friendly

I really dislike when a casual player bwo asks for help in global chat, or mentions that "x" content is hard, and everytime a random dick just appears to say the same thing "I can solo x" then leaves without helping anyone. Is this a sign of autism or a desperate call for attention?
>I really dislike when a casual player bwo asks for help in global chat, or mentions that "x" content is hard, and everytime a random dick just appears to say the same thing "I can solo x" then leaves without helping anyone
if your crew does not help you or your dumb ass asks world chat instead of asking your crew then thats on you
>they really fricked up really bad by making this a gacha mmo with severe powercreep and the game generally being not f2p friendly
Agreed. The game was fricked from the start. Who is this game made for? Too grindy for most gacha players, and power being tied to spending scares away MMO players.
Pre-2.3 ToF was peak ToF
Then it slowly slogged into shit and difference between standard weapons and gacha weapons started to be too big to enjoy sequential as F2P. Then they reworked sequential and bygone in 2.4 and added shitty greybite just to sell Fiona, and game started to be more annoying than fun
Seconding this, pre-2.3 it was legitimately one of the best games I have ever played period, not just gacha but in general.
These days it's just such an annoying slog I haven't logged in a week, I just can't get myself to care anymore.
I wouldn't say most fun for me, but it's definitely top 3. While flawed, the premise of the story had a lot of potential, and the game's lore was interesting enough that I didn't skip it when I came across it. I was invested in the world and its characters, which is rare for me in a gacha.
In contrast, I ended up not caring much about Vera and was glad when we left. With that said, I am surprised at how much attention to detail went into Mirroria. It actually feels like a living, breathing city.
Vera and D9 stories are on the grander scale so it feels a bit generic and unfocused. Aesperia starts out pretty personal and revolves mostly around a few characters only so people care about them more. Story design in Aesperia is also somewhat more light hearted with characters like Black Dog and the servants on Cetus. This kind of things only exist in character stories nowadays.
What are these good changes? Exploration is worse in 3.x. The 3.x story and characters are worse. There are more chores you have to do in since 3.x. They have given up on any semblance of balance for global, with powercreep running as rampant as it is on CN. It's no wonder retention is in the dumpster nowadays.
What makes the powercreep really sting for global is not only it hit right with the arrival of the chink zone, global being relatively well balanced on top of the CN balance going down the shitter even further with powercreep is a massive gap in power.
Some 1.x weapons are unironically unusable now even at A6 because the game is balanced around the powercreep now, even with good optimized gear when doing your daily chores you will spend 5+ minutes slapping D9 trash mobs unless you have the hottest new chink weapons.
>Some
Literally every weapon other than Shiro(shieldbreaking in raids) and Zero(BiS healer weapon)
I remember times you could get near-whale scores in sequential by using King+Lin(and i didn't had any other 3rd weapon, it was just Shiro or something like that i put just for stats)
Basically, ToF was on their best times when you could get creative in your setups, and be rewarded for it. Right now, everything feels like a chore because they keep adding content you have to do but no one asked for, and gameplay loop went to shit. Like if every weapon was balanced again you will see people be happy even in shitty Wuxia, just because they would be able to play as they want, not being on constant hamster wheel run.

Also agree with that anon, on top of performance issues. Back in 2.0 i was able to play 120fps no lags at max settings, gpu didn't even sweat at that. Then in 2.3 i had to set 90fps because of jungle vegetation being shitty optimized
2.4? 45fps.
After 3.0 i had to lower graphics settings, Ampere GPU my ass
I don't have any problems with it on PC. I tried it once on my phone and deleted it because the controls on mobile are atrocious. But I don't remember it stuttering on my phone either.
>What could go wrong?
Many things
There is so much potential
but after a year in global, it didn't really go anywhere significant
and it's still janky
ngl it has some nice bawds
I stopped spending. It's clear Hotta's incompetence, and Tencent's greed will lead to the game not improving, so why keep supporting them. I hope they prove me wrong with 4.0, but I doubt that's going to happen. Hell, I doubt I'll still be playing by the time global gets to 4.0

Yeah, but they will add freezing mechanic so you need to level your statues fast or enjoy loading screens after each death.
Thank you hotta, very cool!
You should already have them maxed so I don't see how you wouldn't be able to.
3.4 adds new towers obviously

i am so fricking tired of seeing open world collectathons
>Hotta's incompetence, and Tencent's greed
At least Hotta have a good excuse, being that they're actual based morons.
Tencent should have done better.
Snow bgm is so nice but most people turn off the game music nowadays..

MMO Vs Gacha the polar opposites in one game that butt heads at every game mechanic
True. The concept of Tower of Fantasy being a MMORPG with gacha gear progression should have been turned down at the start. You either make a gacha, or you make an MMO and go with a heavy cosmetic/QoL monetization model.
yeah mmo is grinding for power gacha is pay for power you was gonna piss off each by merging the two
does this game have difficult endgame raids or co-op bosses
or is it just a shitty gayer genshin that runs like shit and steals art
>difficult endgame raids
Only difficult as in whale dps check
>co-op bosses
Plenty of different flavors of 4-man and 8-man instanced content
Pretty much everything other than exploration is is co-op, either killing waves of mobs or bosses. Some of it is instanced while some of it is open world.
And being a gacha, the difficulty correlates to how much you spend/how autistic you are/how long you've been playing.
>does this game have difficult endgame raids or co-op bosses
occasionally yes with Raids and Void Abyss its a up and down sort of thing atm
>shitty gay genshin
no actually imo its kino it has its issues but compared to genshin its way better
>runs like shit
lag is one of the problems with many people on screen
>steals art
i have not seen any art being stolen
Technically we stole a sword asset from Honkai and we also stole an event currency image from fgo, but that's fine because stealing is based.
yeah but thats not the same as for example in COD they took the entire design of a furry for a mtx and got sued for it nearly, for a sword and 1 event currency looking similar can be overlooked
...what the frick am I looking at?
Even if it wasn't stolen from some furrys deviantart page, what on earth happened to CoD?
you should see mw2 it has nicki minaj, 21 savage, lilith, inarius, hellsing, skeletor, doomguy and more its a clusterfrick you never know who is on what team

It's really dumb that they didn't at least think to monetize this. They could even be lazy and just have it be battle voices.
Checking in to say hello before I go back to /vg/
I'm sure I'll be seeing you guys again soon
How are people playing this game? It stutters all over the place on PC and phone. Do you all just ignore it?
By coping and lowering graphics settings. Don't know how long I can take it if these chinks keep on fricking up.
I don't have any problems with it on PC. I tried it once on my phone and deleted it because the controls on mobile are atrocious. But I don't remember it stuttering on my phone either.
