I actually agree with you even though this is heresy on Ganker. Still, I wouldn't want a Toys for Bob Banjo game. BK skews more toward collectathon than Crash does, and the collecting (hidden crates everywhere) was the worst part of Crash 4 and one of the main reasons it is so maligned.

              Anonymous

They have experience with collectathons from working on Spyro.
Although they were just remaking the games, but hopefully some of the design philosophy rubbed off on them

literally the worst game to 100% and if you just any% it's too easy. crash/coco levels were also the only good ones the rest were shit.

toys for bob is also really hit or miss with their character designs ranging from this is fine to terrible especially in spyro where the majority designs are terrible unless you're homosexual

people complain about tawna but my biggest gripe is with dingodile
you can just tell it's made by the gay bara furry who designed most of the dragons in the spyro remake
it's just kinda feels disgusting every time you see him wobbling around and you know the truth
they also gave him a vacuum instead of a flame thrower just like they removed guns in spyro

                Anonymous

Worse is what they did to Cortex with the fricking transforming gun instead of an actual fricking laser that he uses in that fricking game.

                Anonymous

cortex has a gun in his levels though
the devs probably just thought a vacuum would be more interesting mechanically

                Anonymous

A flamethrower would be basically the same in terms of gameplay function, it's purely a creative decision.
                >attack, fire instead of suck, still shreds things
                >fire ball shot instead of box shots, still a projectile attack only it isn't situational
                >fire hover instead of vacuum hover, breaks box as you go over them
The vacuum doesn't even make sense thematically or narratively, why when opening a diner, would Dingodile trade out his flame thrower for a fricking vacuum cleaner?
Also, why give Dingodile a spin? I thought his fight in Warped made it abundantly clear that this guy is terrible at fighting up close because whenever Crash closes the distance between them he kicks the living shit out of Dingodile.

as someone who was obsessed with crash the year the first game came out (blessed sister picking it out), i really love these designs. i wish the game performed better, these designs are basically perfect.... except tawna.
but, and i know im the minority, the almost mad max/late 80s/early 90s "alternate" badass trope she has going on is amusing to me. reminds me of cheesy late 80s cartoons and movies. which works because alternate tawna. but it's soured by knowing they did it all just because of MODERN SENSIBILITIES.
OG crash will never be topped, but besides twinsanity crash (design-wise), this is my absolute favorite
also that same sister of mine picked out Spyro randomly. i never considered how fortunate i am my sister and mom who knew nothing of games picked out Crash 1 and Spyro 1 as the main games I had for psx.

I dislike tawna but for different reasons than everybody else.
they shrunk her nose, she has a weird tiny cat nose now
is it so much to ask for my female love interests to have big honking cartoon schnozzes

                Anonymous

The artists TFB hired got her design wrong. Coco & the Trophy girls have small muzzles. Tawna, being the "Stacy" of the bunch, is supposed to have the Alpha muzzle.

                Anonymous

The issue with nu-Tawna was that she wasn't even liked by the people who made her. If they liked that design, why exactly is it Tawna and not a new character? Because it was never about making a fun character to make a game better. It was about "Fixing" something that wasn't broken and sticking to those heckin evil gamers. They can't even try to sell their character without the angle that it's "fixing" something and implying that you HAVE to like it or else you're some kind of bigot. It's utterly pathetic. If you can't even be confident about your characters you can't be shocked when no one else likes them. The redesign is flawed on a fundamental level because of that.

      Anonymous

You guys are not going to want to hear it but the best way for Toys for Bob to get within Phil's good graces is to simply continue working on Rumble because as of now they're not only smaller and have to make a sudden transition to working remotely but they've practically put all of their resources into this game when not being on standby for COD support. Rumble is also small enough as is so improving it by adding an offline single player campaign, releasing a Switch/PC port, actually advertising the damn thing, and eventually making it f2p is a low-risk starting point that they can gain momentum on in as opposed to scrapping everything and starting a new project from scratch.
