Sorry Op, but that's DQ in general. The series has always been the most traditional series with simple stories and basic combat. Fans enjoy it for its simplicity. DQ is to JRPGs what Lodoss War is to fantasy anime.
>every DQ thread will be posers talking about how it's boring on purpose and then a different poser getting autistically upset about DQ >if not that, it's FF gays using DQ as a thin veil to whine
It's sad.

DQ is the definition of a vanilla rpg, considering it created every single modern rpg. If you don't like vanilla, go play something more spicy.
Seriously, where do these people come from.
There's just watching youtube videos, but this isn't even that. At the very least a youtube video would tell you that DQ1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all incredibly different games- more different than pretty much Final Fantasy up to 10 by comparison.
The way your party functions, the base way you are meant to engage with the game and strategize through the gameplay is completely changed in each of those entries, even ignoring the absurd amount of other gameplay changes that occur in JUST those five games (not even getting to the ones that completely uproot the gameplay style or completely change the very notion of how you progress in the game). >1
You have one character who handles both the melee and the magic. >2
You have three characters that divvy up responsibilities. >3
Full four person party + job system. >4
Expanded cast slowly introduced over several individual chapters which you then have to weigh up the pros and cons of switching out. >5
A party that constantly subtracts and adds characters so the player has to invest more into the new monster recruitment mechanic.
All five of these games play completely different, and this is before the games even become 3D, or become a pseudo MMO, or later an actual MMO.
Fricking braindead posers.
Bro, quit your autism. I've literally played every single DQ (before x) and while I love them, they are the definition of vanilla. If someone doesn't like one, they won't like any of the other mainline games. Go suck a wiener.
Black person, the point is that you morons are saying they all play the same when that is factually untrue. It's proof you don't play these games or you have severe brain damage.
A lot of it is kinda hard to put into words but with 8 I didn't like the skill point system and general sense of progression/difficulty scaling (worth noting I played the 3DS version which changed some stats around)
9 I hated the framerate issues, vocation unlock quests, and story pacing (why is 80% of the game a fetch quest?)
Also the vibes for each game just felt off to me all around maybe so just don't gel with Level 5 games.
11 is the most polished. the whole series is pretty similar though
Are you playing the party chat version?

All DQ games are pure garbage that only got shilled by boomers and Dragonballgays
If you don't like one dragon quest game you won't like any of the others.
They were decent before Level 5 took over.
It does have the gay shit that plagues the genre though - atrocious localization.
you play 5 minutes of any you played 100% of all

You're a fricking pussy

>the point is
didn't ask, don't care
Not true I disliked 8 and 9 and love all the others
Huh, really? What about them bothered you?

>DQ4
It's been a while since I played this, but isn't there a part where you go full israelite the entire chapter?
Not having the gay shit that plagues the last 20 years of jrpgs is the appeal
What are your gripes with it?
DQ5.
A bit overrated but kinda deserved.
7 is my favorite, but the pacing is verrrryyyy slow. Be advised.
DQ9 has free character creation/team building which is pretty fun and rare in the series
i don't like that
stop playing video games
dq1 is the best game
>ITT
>"Bro, its a JRPG! If you played one of them, you've experienced all of them!"
DA WHITE DWARF!
>Filtered by chapter 1
Many such cases.
What made it boring to you?
