What do you guys think of the new maps? I love Jungle and it’s probably the best map remake in Rise with a really good theme, and Citadel is super fun to explore, has great aesthetics but really needs a second sub-camp.

By the way, like I thought Ibushi's set bonus only adds the bonus skill points to skills already on the set and not Decorations or Charms. Still a great armour for GL and IG which I use, but less DPS due to limited space. You need a really good charm and weapon with a few slots to fit damage stuff on it.
Will be autistically farming Allmother to see if there's any better synergy there soon, hopefully her MR equipment is as God tier looking as Ibushi.

They are probably misconstruing what you're saying and attributing it to the handler or some other third party, which they are taking as a whole rather than a part the overall picture.
The issue is that the Handler didn't do any of that. She wasn't the smith or the researchers or anything else. There were other npcs that did all of that crap. The researchers at the resource center, the smith in his shop, the Commander and his son leading the entire expedition, the merchants in their stalls, etc. Handlers are there to support Hunters, and our Handler never fricking did that. The most she contributed was being a quest board which we didn't even fricking need because the town also has a literal fricking quest board we can use with the same functionality.

The thing with Monster Hunter is that it's not structured in a way that allows for story to be shoved into the forefront. Even Sunbreak's is just a series of loosely-connected events that play out between quests to give you reasons as to why you're fighting shit.
The only thing wrong with the new town is the fact that you still have to eat dango, hell the massive bunny dango stall looks so out of place when it's in between an alchemist's atelier and an old stone slab fort. They got npcs running food stalls with baked goods and exotic juices, but you aren't allowed to have any of that shit.
The God Eater approach of companion quest is actually helped a lot narratively in Sunbreak, because it shown to the player via gameplay.
Though i hope Capcom handle this with care, because MH appeal is always been the beasts(also your gear) and i don't want another GE where their focusing to much on humans then everything else.

The problem is in both Narative and Gameplay.
Before Rise and Sunbreak all of those NPC does frick all gameplay wise and most of their contribution to us is being told not shown.

You can attempt him any time. Just be patient and snipe attack (depending on your weapon of choice). Your job is dispatch him, not doing in speedrunner time. So, be patient and take your time. He's not that hard.

for it to go straight to TCS you need to be charging. be it the first, second or even the TCS already if you counter while charging it will go to the TCS
The input is strange. You have to hold in a direction and LT while charging a swing, and when you let go of JUST LT, you will do the counter and it will immediately lead into a fully charged TCS
This isn't wrong. It's a little annoying but it basically just amounts to grabbing the third wirebug when possible and not doing the wirebug catch when you get hit every time which you shouldn't be doing anyway

I picked them up after beating Rise with SnS on both systems. I actually like them a lot, especially because one of the wirebug moves will give you back sharpness and another just makes you invincible the entire time you're using it.
The only thing I miss from SnS going into Dual Blades is not being able to use my items at a drop of the hat, especially because my strategy has always been to pick up a bunch of animal buddies and use them during a hunt.
Yeah, they're one of the most honest weapons too because they don't have a counter that trivializes the boss - it's all about dancing around the monster with sheer speed and mobility

Snipe with draw slash against fast/mobile monsters and wait for better openings.
Learn monster moves and find out which ones are safe to counter with Strongarm stance for big damage.
When monster is downed (or when you have big openings), you actually don't want to do your tackle combo to TCS anymore, instead you place a small bomb near the monster and counter the explosion to go straight to a powered up TCS.

It depends on the weapon and playstyle you use. EE3 on Gunlance is great, and you pretty much never need to worry about positioning when you have it.

If you talk to Unabara at every MR story rank, you get to see a wienery rookie go from having an inflated sense of self, to trying to belittle your own accomplishments to make himself feel bigger, to straightening the frick up when Fio gets morbed, and telling you he's going to sweep the area and help the knights keep an eye out for Malzeno and the Qurios in her stead, to slowly growing to look up to you as a role model, and finally realizing just how much he has to grow up himself, before deciding to carve his own path out as a hunter.

hardly played world + IB, like 70 hours. my biggest problem is that I was a GSgay and the new GS sucks balls (I fricking hate TCS so much it's unreal), but with SB I have a substitute, the LS's proactive parry mechanics remind me of the predictive GS playstyle of the classic MH games

There's so many different alternatives to WEX now that I don't understand why people still keep building shit around it. Half of the new skills in Sunbreak serve the same purpose as WEX with extra stuff on top, and MR armor sets have ample slots to put in literally anything you feel like.

10 hunts in and I've yet to hunt a single new monster. There was a subspecies but it was ruined because the game forced me to bring along some dumb chatty prostitute and her dog which ruined it. This is already the worst addition to any MH game and completely ruined the urgent experience.
Anyway, is this a fricking joke? The first two monsters of Iceborne were new, that ice piscine and banbaro, and then you hunt orange tobi who's awesome. This is like MHXX that was like "LOOK HOLY SHIT IT'S CONGALALA AND DIABLOS" and I'm like "I know; I played 4U and FU".
Never played G rank before eh? The first few monsters are always rehashes of the original LR and HR monsters, it's to get you accustomed to the HP, Damage, and New movesets some of them have with the new rank.

When do I start actually fighting new monsters? Im at 3 star quests and I really liked the Orange Bishaten fight and Garangolm is fun enough but I feel im fighting a TON of the same monsters. Are the wiki's updated with the full monster list cause I dont even see a subspecies for Goss Harag, just wondering if G Rank is usually this limp on the new monsters.

I'm just gonna admit it: Afflicted Monsters are too much for solo.
You don't get any time to break enough bubbles for the down consistently and if it spawns on a tail or something you'll have a hard time ever popping it since the monster will be targeting you aggressively for the entire duration with little downtime. God forbid they spawn on multiple shitzones like Royal Ludroth so you lose out on melee DPS + bubble DPS, and don't even fricking get me started on the hitboxes of the bubbles spawning on awkward body parts that are hidden away by other bits like Royal Ludroth's legs being blocked by the rest of his body.
Basically what you're left with is a monster who just randomly explodes sometimes and has a frickton of HP. Yes, I am a shitter, but I am also correct.
Can't wait for the high tier Anomaly's so I can just fight Lunagaron's easy fight forever, it'll be so much easier than these lower monsters.
If Kiranico is accurate, they don't have any party size scaling. So solo hunting is against a 4player monster.

I don't know about you, but my hunt times have doubled in general and tripled against fights I am bad at to like 20-30 minute kills. I am definitely not remotely a great MH player, but this time increase is not because I am playing notably worse against these monsters.
I absolutely love the idea of forcing players outside of their comfort zone with Bloodblight and different target spots meaning just playing it safe, by say hiding behind Gore Magala's head, doesn't just trivialize a monster and healing is much less effective. It just feels like the Afflicted mechanics are not at all tuned to solo players so you're fighting against a DPS check rather than learning a new fight.

No that sounds about right. Just learn each monster tell and keep a healthy reaction time set for when it appears to be gearing an explosion up.

I am not talking about the time taken or difficulty of the fight here, I am specifically talking about the mechanics related to them being badly tuned and not really working with solo. This is like a Stagger/KO sort of situation, not a DPS/HP if that makes sense.
The boosted health still won't stand a chance against LBG and most players should be able to beat them too, for example.

And the base G3 Urgent Lao had 47.5k. The DLC one had a couple thousand shy of 70k.

Rise Lance is about leveraging all of the moves you can do properly against a monster if you want good times. spiral thrust, pokes, charge swipes, blocking, efficient places to counter, block step, charges, that new jumping thrust move that does a million damage if you can land multiple hits, etc. Can't just poke like in old games

I found out that charged slashes for GS have a juicier sound effect and more hit stop when hitting things compared to surge slash since the former has a bonus 1.3x sharpness modifier while the latter doesn't.

I still can't tell if you're supposed to switch from one skill set to a completely different one while you fight or if people just equip the same things on both scrolls and get a sick ass pose and dodge. Like, if you're comfortable with Courage Hammer then there's really no reason to switch to Power, right?
based on what I played from the demo there's really no reason to not stick with one skill set, although I didn't play all the weapons and still haven't with the full game so that might change

As a LS Main I just main Sakura Slash + SS 90% of the hunt
With the nerfs it's much better use your Bugs for raising the Spirit gauge than doing a HS that has 1/4 SS damage
It doesnt help IS has been nerfed too

When Magnamalo turf wars with another Elder, he loses... but not so with Scorned; he wins against both Kushala and Teostra.
Malzeno has a turf war with Scorned Magnamalo, and they tie. Therefore;
Magnamalo < Nergigante (& Ruiner) = Teostra & Kushala < Scorned Magnamalo = Malzeno
