If you were around, you could easily tell SB was doing everything in it's power to win back players and being in new ones. The most varied content added, filler removed from jobs and combat, SWIMMIMG LOL, an expansive story across two nations that pulled the token FANTASY JAPAN trump card all devs use when it panic mode, ultimate raids for poopsockers, etc. SB didn't succeed in every department, but the devs were clearly putting in more effort than they ever did prior and after.

Everything in there could be rewards for actually playing the game instead of having things cut out to sell to you again. The very first item on the cash shop, Sleipnir, was already made when ARR launched but it was withheld to put on the cash shop.

Since time immemorial in the grand MMO scene it has been proven time and time again that PVP is a niche gamemode that only the most passionate players play. The average player does not want to pit their gear and skills against others in virtual settings with no real risks. Check Ultima Online for precedence. PVP Free cuck zones that were literally bursting at the brim. Trammel was introduced and the game slowly started to bleed players. Look at Warframe's attempt, it wasn't even true PVP in the game's sense. It was a sport-like game that you competed in. No one even remembers the name of the game except the few who like it.
It's just a fact of the matter, PvP in MMO games will never be as popular as the PvE elements OR SIMPLY SOCIALIZING.

The trusts don't show the real pace of the dungeons so now we will have players in roulettes believing that one pull is the way to play the dungeons.
There was always a chance of getting a healer who could't handle wall to wall. Trusts don't make them bad players.
What boils my piss are healers who don't heal and just focus on damage and expect tanks to somehow mitigate everything on their own, then get k.o'd and healers who act as if the tank was in the wrong.
That or parties who keep running in front of the tank and pull, or keep running directly inside tank busters.
Sometimes I really do think an IQ check should be a requirement for playing a multiplayer game.
There are plenty of healers who will try to greed and frick up. They've watched too many streamers or read too many forums telling them that you don't need to heal until the very next attack will kill the tank, and have no margin for inevitable error.
These usually aren't the casuals using trusts, it's the pro gamers parsing and starting farm parties that kick any player failing a mechanic (unless it's them).

depends on the level. I’m assuming around 44-54, because you get so many tools afterwards it’s never a problem. Refresh regen as he approaches the second pack, then quickcast holy. No point in saving quick cast for a rez in mass pulling dungeons.

Are all melee classes really fricking braindead when leveling, or is that exclusive to rogue? I'm still very new and have only gotten an archer/bard to 30 before deciding to try rogue. It's level 25 now and I still only have two fricking buttons to use, with a few cds and a single ranged attack. Archer, while not super intense or anything, has two DOTs, a proc to watch for, an off GCD, and AOE.
Most jobs are incredibly barebones before 50, and even then they're at the bare minimum level of playable.
But why? I thought 50 was the original level cap?

It's not an RPG. It's a linear adventure game where you can pick from a set of prebuilt classes ("jobs"). Gearing is simple, content is formulaic, combat is very boring for a few hundred hours.
A lot of people like it but you have to know what you're getting in to.
If you run in expecting something like Diablo or a CRPG in terms of build complexity or build viability you are 20 years too late for that, and most people fricking hated that level of complexity in a game they used to be social back then too

I don't mind most shop additions because they're generally pretty shit. There are some exceptions like Cruise Chaser that should've been from ingame (no, not an ultimate mount, something else)
But generally speaking, most ingame rewards far, far outpace the shop ones. What do I care about some gay-ass modern clothing outfit or a school uniform when the ingame glam is 10 times better? What do I care about some low-effort balloons when the Deep Dungeon, new Tribe, Island, Custom Deliveries, Gold Saucer all give better mounts in the same patch.
Thank frick they still leave the better rewards for the game.
The problem with dismissing the shit stuff on the cash shop is that it gives the devs more incentive to put the good stuff on there instead, like Cruise Chaser and the chocobo carriage.
