That would trigger the achievement through the Steam API yes, but the PlayStation trophy awarder isn't looking for if you unlocked the Steam achievement. It'll be looking for the flag set in game.

Console gaming is on the decline. I say this as a life long console fanboy that has owned almost every system since 3rd gen.
Consoles are in a weird spot. Younger generations won't hold the same value for consoles that millennials had since most will grow up with phone games, besides Nintendo. PC has been accepted into the mainstream, compare it to even 10 years ago the diffrence in popularity is insane. AAA games are also too expensive to be kept exclusive without a fat check from sony or MS to keep it exclusive.
Nintendo unironically works for now because they purposely kept their consoles a generation behind in tech which makes it less expensive and more appealing to a wider audience. They'll still run into trouble after the Switch 2 cause they trapped themselves into a single mobile/hybrid device. The gameboy/DS line is dead and it was always their more popular device compared to the home console. Other companies are going to encrouch on their turf and they can do mobile gaming better. Nintendo exclusives could keep them afloat but losing the appeal of 3rd party games being played on the go and at better performance on other devices will be a huge hit.
It's kinda sad, but that's just because of my nostalgia. Multiplat really is better for the consumer. I'm not sure why PC suddenly surged in popularity though. Was it Youtube influencers influencing zoomers? I remember in the early 2010s everyone, myself included, said that PC was dying and it was a crapshoot if we got a good port, which could've come months later. It was a bit like waiting for Japanese game localizations in the past.

Youtube influencers are one part of the puzzle because Gen Z watched them game on PC and want the. The other factor is that Gen Z were getting low spec laptops and PC's gifted from their parents at teenage years on and played a lot of low spec games like League, DOTA 2, CS:GO etc so when they actually do get some income to spend on gaming, they are buying a new PC instead of consoles because they already were in the PC ecosystem rather than a console. Gen Z simply are not buying consoles at all and if they do it's a console with a unique selling point like Switch, but the rise of portable PC handhelds is going to make that area shaky. Especially if there are "Take your library with you" devices.
The future of games is service based. You'll still have consoles, but I doubt they'll be too many exclusives. Sony and Microsoft are gonna want their software on everything. Especially microsoft with their gamepass. Both of them are also big on getting gamers establishing digital libraries. Overall it'll eventually be cloud based.

It is pretty funny the most prominent argument besides Playstation is they are not as bad as Xbox (yet). This however will mean Xbox is not safe by running away to PC, Sony will kill it there too.
Sony isn't anywhere near Microsoft in the PC market. A flop like Starfield still got over 300k concurrent players on Steam. Meanwhile the biggest Sony first party titles like GoW, Spider-man, Uncharted, TLOU, Horizon etc can't even break 50k concurrent players. Most never even break 20k. Sony games aren't very popular on PC.

Until PC gaming collectively reaches the same price point and accessibility of the Steam Deck, it's still not a viable gaming platform. I shouldn't have to do research on computer parts - none of which should cost more than at the absolute most a few hundred btw - just to play video games.
If i buy a game on my PS5, i know it's going to run on the PS5. If i buy a game for my HP laptop that i spent roughly the same amount on as my PS5, is it going to run on it? not likely, unless it's some indie jank. On top on my entire digital library from the last 2 gens being on that platform and it makes no sense whatsoever for me to start over.
FWIW i could care less if games like Tsushima go on other platforns, As long as i can play what i want, that's all that matters. I'm glad more people get to experience stuff like that. Square really should've released FF16 and Rebirth on other platforms too; more people need to be able to experience those masterpieces.

at one point, i'm sure they were. with Xbox essentially bowing out of the console war, Nintendo still living in their own world, and PC gaming having its own appeal separate from consoles, i feel like they're slowly coming around to the reality that their own console ecosystem is established enough. the former PS boss even said recently that with how expensive some of these games have gotten, it makes little sense to keep them as exclusives now. you can only make so much money back from one platform.
PC gaming is growing and the main reason is prebuilts. I personally (Yeah I know MUH ANECDOTES) know 5 different people, literally 5, who recently turned into PC gamers from being console gamers their entire lives cause of prebuilts.
Two of my cousins, one who is 17 the other who is 25, one of my friends (26), a coworker of mine (33) and my brother's best friend (26) all bought prebuilts in the last year and a half.

Prebuilts were the only way to get a decent PC during the crypto bullrun before Eth upgraded to Proof of Stake. Literally. Like the cost of a GPU from Newegg or Amazon was the same as an entire prebuilt. Some people would buy prebuilts and sell the parts individually and turn a profit.
