Imagune unironically getting filtered by the tutorial

      Anonymous

Imagine unironically playing a tutorial that spawns walls of fire on you and makes you go afk in crack shacks while collecting salt bushes just so you can continue to not have fun for 8 hours. Frick that shit, I can play a game that costs a fraction as much and doesn't require an entire afternoon to become enjoyable.
      >Noooooo anon, after the 20 hour mark you cna start grinding for /SS/ tier helmets
      Wow, so fun.

I played the game for the first time ever last week and had no trouble with the tutorial, I dropped the game later as too much of its content is really shallow once you get into it, but you're just fricking incompetent OP.

          >No anon you don't understand, it's a skill issue! You being forced to permanently sit inside a crack shack as waves of fire constantly melt you as you wait for brief moments where you can collect more plants to not instantly die is a skill issue!
Sounds to me like the devs just made a shit tutorial.

you literally have a laster that can burry into the ground for make shift shelter of many natural hazards, a big part of the game is surviving anon (at least in the beginning)

The tutorial laser is too weak to mine the ground. Your only option is to rush the tutorial and hope you didn't get a fire planet that instantly spawns a fire wall or get lucky enough to have a shed spawn nearby.

The game gas a lot of issues even after 6 years of updates and improvements. That does not make you any less of a moron to get filtered by the game's tutorial. A tutorial that has remained unchanged too since it's one of the only aspects they got right from the beginning.

Anon, they changed the tutorial to be harder. The "seven volcanoes exploding as a wall of fire instantly kills you" comments aren't an exaggeration, that's the base game now.

              Filtered.

Yeah, I was filtered out of wasting 10+ hours of my life playing a tedious slog that actively tries to be as awful as possible as a testament to artificial difficulty.

No, it's incompetence. It's a survival game, you are expected to survive harsh conditions which the tutorial presents you with immediately. It's the perfect moron filter, honestly, as if you cannot complete its tutorial then the game is not for you.

Except the game is easy as frick after that tutorial and it turns out the tutorial is the only part of the game that's challenging in any way whatsoever. This isn't a tutorial, this is the final boss segment with "press x to jump" text boxes floating around it.

Your ship literally spawns right next to you, blind moron OP.

My ship spawned on the other side of a volcano so I had to run all the way around it while getting pelted by fireballs and the second I got to it it told me to run all the way back to another objective and the second I left the ship it spawned a fire wall on me and killed me. This tutorial sucks ass and there is genuinely nothing I could've done to stop myself from getting vaporized. Every time I spawned I'd either get killed via fireballs or get hit by a wall of fire. I assumed this was normal because the other two tries I took for planets spawning spawned the ship at the bottom of a cavern filled with radioactive plants that would kill you before you reached the bottom and a planet that was so hot it would kill you the second the loading screen went away.

I refunded this shit and undownloaded it ages ago. I will say I am genuine when I say that it was an incredibly fricked planet. No shelter or caves, just volcanoes on all sides with the ship in between me and a volcano while also being at the bottom of a massive crater. The second I entered the ship it gave me an objective to go away from the ship, and then it spawned a wall of fire that resulted in instant death because it slowed me and I didn't have enough resources to outheal it's heat. I know everyone here is just lmao'ing because I just sound like I got filtered but every planet I tried was equally impossible and tedious. Just constant fire walls and instant death.

Okay, let's say I give benefit of the doubt here and the planet really was fricked up...why didn't you start again then?

Be real, though, you do not instanteously die from thermal damage nor volcano eruptions, and the tutorial intentionally gives you a violent storm (or whatever the equivalent is for the planet you start on) so that you'e forced to learn to adapt, something you failed to do apparently.

                Anonymous

I gave up because that was the third planet that had killed me and I realized I just spent half an hour having zero fun for $30 when I could've put that money towards a game that'd give immediate enjoyment.
                >Be real, though, you do not instanteously die from thermal damage nor volcano eruptions
First planet was absolutely survivable but I reset it thinking it was a glitch. Second planet was corrosive and it did genuinely kill me in less than a minute due to how toxic the area was. Third planet was the one that made me run in circles just to spawn a heat wave on me.

Oh right, I missed that part. That's fricking embarrassing, you really are just incompetent if you couldn't beat the tutorial on a single planet after multiple attempts.
                >Second planet was corrosive and it did genuinely kill me in less than a minute
I highly doubt that. Nonetheless, why the frick did you fail at the other 2 planets? Why would you reset the first planet thinking that a survival game making you survive would be "a glitch"? Fricking moron, you're somehow even more incompetent than the developers of the game.

You're meant to use your starship to recharge your hazard shield in between bursts of being outside, at least until you can get your shit fixed and visit a space station. Then the game opens up a bit more. If you think that's bad though, permadeath mode does the same shit but spawns you like 750 meters away from your ship, and your shit drains twice as fast. It's literally the most dangerous time for a permadeath run, and everything after the first 5 hours or so is relatively safe by comparison.

you can literally survive everything if you enter your ship that spawns 20 feet from you

Most people who dislike no man's sky do it because procedurally generated planets bored them after a while or because collecting stuff isn't their thing, not because getting filtered by the tutorial.

zoomzooms are really pathetic even of you die in the tutorial you don't really lose anything, just recharge your stuff.

Is ok to be weak op

        >you don’t really lose anything
I lost the most important thing of all- my desire to experience the game.

No Man's Sky is pretty bad, but getting filtered by the tutorial isn't a valid reason to hate the game, homie.
Also there's other difficulties you could be playing on.
Your friend that said 8 hours is an idiot, by the way, the game's fun (or "fun") starts as soon as you're in your first working ship and have free access to warp whenever you want, which only really takes half an hour at the most, unless you're an invalid or a game reviewer.
The only thing I can think of at the 8 hour mark might be starting to build a frigate (which is a waste of time, IMO), or building a complex base (also a waste of time.)

The game's loaded with alternate ways to waste time for the purpose of wasting time.
Sure, you can get a frigate and a whole fleet, but all that's really used for is... uh, warping further for cheaper, if I remember right.
Sure, you can build a base and use it to get more materials quicker, but the vast majority of stuff outside of frigates and bases costs so little material that you don't need it. (Disclaimer: might still be worthwhile for gathering the rare stuff from dangerous planets, I guess.)
Sure, you can build yourself a fully-customized rover/mech/sub, but you're limited in speed and it's vastly quicker just to hop in and out of your starship and just fly over to things instead of taking a literal hour or two to drive there. (Disclaimer: the vehicles have specialized scanners used to find specific things, but there's no fricking way I'm driving the whole way there once it's scanned!)

Agree that the op is a goddamn moron if he cannot do the tutorial, but yeah NMS biggest problem is the lack of a reason to really do anything. It has a lot of content by now, but it's all very shallow. The game is the epitome of the phrase "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle", not just in its scale but also is gameplay mechanics.

It's a space game with survival game elements, i don't know what you expected OP. There is literally sodium and oxygen everywhere to keep your suit charged. Caves are good for regenerating your hazard protection too.

Anyone chastising the OP is moronic. He didn't get filtered, it's an example of a bad start to a bad game. You fricks will defend anything if it means being contrary.

and yes, it is a bad game. Doesn't make OP any less moronic.

Not OP, didn't die in the tutorial but did start on a couple useless roadblock planets, played more and then discovered it was in fact shit. OP also encountered a crock of shit and called it like it is.

That's hilarious, I too spawned on a hell planet with an incoming firestorm but it was easy to get the sodium needed to survive. Honestly extremely impressed with this game, I guess it's not for disabled people though

The start isn't that bad, you're quickly told how to scan for resources and what resources you need so your suit can keep you alive. I think the game is well made and caters to people that want a near endless space exploration game but that has its own drawbacks and the game isn't properly marketed in a way to inform people of that. Waking up in an alien system struggling to learn an alien language by scrounging through ruins and making desperate gestures is enjoyable in its own way but can understandably feel tedious. I feel that the long grind is what makes the game so rewarding as you work your way into becoming a self sufficient cosmonaut.

The game has potential to actually be really good if it didn't constantly reuse assets. They haven't added nearly enough to the procedural planet generation, the game has maybe 40 unique planet categorizations in total - everything else is a remix of those 40 base planet categories. It's not good enough for a game where the core concept and whole appeal is constantly planet-hopping. In addition, the planets themselves give you little incentive to explore them, just landing and looking around you already sums up what the rest of that planet will look like.

There's still no rivers, no waterfalls, only ever single-biome planets, no planetary rotation/orbiting (yes, I know the devs claim that playtesters didn't like it, I don't care), and barely any AI for the fauna on planets. The potential of this game is huge, I hope they continue working on it until it can get close enough to realizing that potential, it's still really cool to me that I can just get in my ship and fly to that planet I see in the sky with no loading screens whatsoever. Such a crying shame that the game itself is so shallow and planets are repetitive within just a few hours.

      4.0 update when?

Wait so you’re not respawning? You’re having to start a new game, so you’re playing on survival?
    Idiot
