my point was that there are so few situations that having 0 Attack IVs on a special attacker is ever going to affect the flow of battle that you'd have to be making absolutely shitty plays to get to that point, and in the time you're spending obsessing over nothing you could be working toward building more team members and actually playing the game
What on earth has reducing damage from certain attacks got to do with making shitty plays? It's always possible for any Pokemon to take an attack from any move, you're not making any sense.
if you're keeping up the momentum and reading your opponent properly you can more reliably counter and take them out instead of making blunders and taking enough steady damage that the only thing that can save you is taking one or two less points of damage from a confusion proc. not to say you can't be playing well and still get screwed over by that, but the chances of it happening with that are ridiculously low and there's little point in investing days of your life grinding away at a single stat just to prepare for the small possibility.
and no one's using foul play against a bloodmoon ursa unless they have no idea how the game works, so if you lose in that situation, it's 100% a skill issue

Also Strength Sap is another move affected by attack IV which is becoming increasingly common with Brambleghast and now Sinistcha. Acting like all these niche scenarios aren't ever relevant sounds like coping for an excuse not to need to be optimal.

But by trying to get an optimal ursaluna you're wasting time during the relevancy window of the DLC that you could be battling instead. Every 30 minutes you go grinding the right IVs is another battle you missed out on and will never get another chance at in your life. Which also means you aren't gaining meta knowledge by actually playing the game and your competition is learning the new meta faster than you.

make sure to bring a lead pokemon with 79 speed exactly. that means if you attack first Ursaluna can only have 0 or 1 EV (makes no difference at level 50), and you can soft reset immediately if Ursaluna outspeeds you
(don't forget to double check afterwards in case you actually managed to catch a 79 speed Ursaluna. you want 77 or 78, and ursaluna will only ever have a Hardy nature)

What should happen is that in the first Pokemon Center you can just enter PvP mode and edit your teams like on Showdown. Even grinding bottlecaps takes fricking forever.
