You've never driven a race car with race tires you massive c**thomosexual. They really need to be warmed up and kept warm to have grip at all.
Also the perception of speed is fricked up without vr headset so it will never feel proper.
I have a vr headset and just got into assetto corsa with a sim wheel, any tips?
Don't talk to me until you do a full course 24h spa in GTR
Oh nice, appreciate it anons
watch this, its the racing bible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-sGV2XXUeU

bro i just wanna make believe im dagumi not fricking go back to school
Driving, even virtually, is a skill that requires time and hard work.
Then just go play Ridge Racer
a simBlack person like you couldn't beat a masterpiece like that
What's with the chip on your shoulder?
nearly every base game car in assetto has incorrect tyre pressure by default, ranging from mildly sub-optimal to ridiculously, excessively wrong, to the point where some cars are nearly undriveable. if you have tyre blankets on, enable tyre widget and make sure that tyre pressure number is not displayed in angry red, if so, reduce it
Almost all the default cars in AC feel like absolute ASS.
Browse assetto-fr tk/garage (There should be a dot but the spam filter is being a c**t) for some good cars, Get all the initial D Arcade stage trackrips from the touge union discord(Ugh. fricking bring back forums ffs) and get down on some tarmac rally.
>Browse assetto-fr tk/garage
All of these cars are made by third worlders that have no idea what they're doing. They're trash.
No they're not. The earlier ones were, but the later ones are pretty good. This mustang in particular is really good.
Which game?
netkar pro
AC cars are tuned to understeer by default I think, it's a safer setup for noobs
Learn to drive homosexual
I DO know how to drive
Cars should turn when you turn the fricking wheel
Use the brakes homosexual
It's not that simple. Slow down and it eill turn more.
>Cars should turn when you turn the fricking wheel
they do when you drive them correctly, you're simming a real car not your four banger honda with a gay hoon exhaust to pretend your going fast at 12mph like the rest of the posers.
just got the new challenger
>IVE DRIVEN FAST CARS BEFORE
in need for speed lmao. You need to brake and trail brake if you want to be fast
is this a nice wheel if the only driving game I play is ETS2
for truck kino any full size wheel will do, you don't really need a manual since all modern hgvs are auto for max efficiency but its fun to have anyways if you mod in some of old trucks with 18 speed high and low range, but you need an adapter like an skrs.
I drive manual irl, it would be weird to drive without gear shift
also I've seen some other car games that I'd like to try since they have my irl car and looks cool
If you want your virtual truck to feel like a real manual you'd need a special shifter with splitter and range selectors.
manual is fun with a truck, but again you need an adapter as standard gated 6 speed won't do you need the ranges and 6th on a truck is practically idling
aliepress has 8 gear shifters with low/high range for 60 bucks and theyre built like a tank
i recommend getting one if you have the money
actually its 7+R but theyre on a huge sale rn, go get one
aliexpress us/item/3256805773223570.html
Do what I do with the G27 and set the paddle shifters to hi-lo/splitter.
>shift 1-6
>left paddle
>shift 7-12
>right paddle
>shift 13-18
I also put a quick view change on the +/- buttons for checking driver's mirror and looking forward.
>is this a nice wheel
No.
>if the only driving game I play is ETS2
You can make do with almost anything.
It works but I think trucks have much larger wheels IRL.
There's a few ways to have the gear shifter setup up. The gears are divided into 2 or 4 parts and you press buttons on the steering wheel to change between them. It works alright and adds to experience that you dont get with paddleshifters.
On racing games gear shifting adds to the experience. I can't believe I was considering not buying it. Although my favourite thing to do is drive sports (not race) cars on forza. If you only race in forza assetto competitizone or some other race car only game then its not worth it.
I bought it too. Buy the gear stick, it will improve that set a lot.
>IVE DRIVEN FAST CARS BEFORE
How fricking fast?
You'll never get the same feedback in a sim as you would in real life, so you gotta be preemptive about stuff like weight transfer.
Also adjust your FoV, having your FoV to match a real life perspective is helpful which is why people play with triple screens and VR headsets.
your tires are basically skidding at that point if you're turning the wheel and the car isn't turning.
Half of racing is managing your tires
Quake is a better racing game than carshit
defrag is garbage. even cs surf maps are less embarassing
>cannot into strafe jumping with aircontrol
many such cases
Truly an arcane skill
where are le red barrelz? can't have my boomer shooter without those, civvie told me so!
lmao just play trackmania at that point
>have driven real cars
>can drive dirt rally like a pro
>assetto corsa feels empty
The game is just made for people who have no idea how cars work.
daily reminder that dirt rally doesn't do proper tyre simulation. and the axis of rotation of your car lies somewhere in the middle of the car instead of where the rear wheels are. all done so homosexuals can feel like they are sliding and going fast while infact driving safely and slowly. Also it has a virtual force that centers your car towards the road.
use the brakes and or shift down to make tighter turns
ams2 does this too and fanboys seethe when you point it out
simBlack folk seethe about everything
plane simBlack folk are even worse than the car ones
Sims live rent free in arcadegays heads. They don't even realize their genre died because 90% of them have shit taste
Arcade racing died because the morons who publish games decided that they all needed a fricking story mode. The last good arcade racer was Burnout Paradise, and guess what? It didn't have a fricking story.
i love R4 but i don't know why they couldn't put an actual arcade race mode in
just spend more money you fricking homosexual. stop whining for goddamn once
I could never play any gran turismo prior to 7. Every car ubdersteered extremely or was almost impossible to catch over steer. Finally in 7 I'm able to slide around corners a little like a real car at the limit would be.
yes that's what the driver aids want you to believe.
I turn them all off except for low traction control and low abs levels in super high end sports cars or race cars. Regular cars get full everything off. And yes it's unironically easier irl to slide around corners than it is in these 'sims'
>justifies VR
In Kaz I trust
This may be the greatest car to drive in VR of all time for any game ever
https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE_COLLECTION/skyline_super_silhouette.html
vr has been justified for ages by any vehicle sim. one day the haptics will get there where we can do shit like fly planes and flip all the switches and press all the buttons without a room full of kit.
Do you guys mod in your daily driver?
C30 drivers are all cute girls so I've heard
LONDON
I can be anything you want me to be anon, teehee
Mine came with the game, but the kunos model is a pile of shit
I'll do you one more, i was using assetto to roughly estimate how my miata would feel after certain upgrades - and it was relatively accurate, to the point where i took IRL my suspension alignment straight from numbers I liked the most in assetto. Same with engine, had 1.6, bought a 1.8 engine, found engine dyno torque curve online beforehand and checked in assetto, the difference in how car handled felt very similar in real life once car got an engine. Also made a very rough model of my local track, it was fun to see the exact same car behavior I experienced in real life to happen in game. Getting oversteer under braking in this one slightly banked corner? Same in game. Rear flying off when cutting through a chicane-ish corner a little bit too fast? Same in game. It was obviously all dorky fun and games, but it's crazy how little precision you need to start experiencing similar behavior as you do in reality.
also went to a nurburgring after ten million laps in various video games and after first corner i felt right at home, felt so confident it was almost scary. well, at least until brakes faded, kek, not like in my simulations at all
this is what happens when you wear a helmet for too long kids
>play racing game in VR
>no physical sensation of momentum
>still bin it every corner
The reason why people are "good" drivers IRL and complete imbeciles in VR is because half of our perception of what a "safe" maneuver is is felt in our balance centers. Muscle memory and deceleration can't be present in a static environment like VR.
ok how do you suggest being able to drive 150mph without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars then genius
I don't? Or go-karts? I don't know, man.
I have a wheel myself, and I still bin it every corner, so it's not like there is a better alternative right now.
Of course it money wasn't an issue, you could have a setup like Mercedes does for their F1 team.
True, and in that way, I pity people who are jumping to conclusions when they hear that simulators are 'realistic'. They hear it, they think it means that driving will feel like driving a car, meanwhile the whole idea is to learn a slightly different set of skills, substitute some senses with some others, give up on some information altogether. Accurate simulation simply means that car will do same stuff it would do in real life, it doesn't mean that feeling will be 1:1. Same with FFB, it's not even meant to feel like a real wheel, it's throwing all kinds of extra info in so game-drivers can feel what they otherwise wouldn't be able to because they'd feel it with their ass.
Once you get the right idea and learn how to feel them right, sims feel just fine. It's just that developing this feeling takes lots of time, and then people jump in, drive around, and instantly feel discouraged like OP
>simply means that car will do same stuff it would do in real life, it doesn't mean that feeling will be 1:1
you sound like a israeli marketer
he does feel things with his ass after all
Use an F1 car or a gokart if you want to drive on rails
unironically plays better with a pad
I've just recently started looking for wheels and pedals and so far it seems there's only "plastic toy" tier and "industrial components" tier. Is there a middle ground? As in wheels and pedals won't break or randomly stop working because their built quality is good but still reasonably priced because they're missing some premium features.
the g29 is the only mid level wheel pretty much
Thanks I got a clearer picture now.
just type in logitech wheel on ebay and buy whatevers there for less than $100
Middle ground is everything around $300 new. Wheels tend to be sturdy, except for lowest quality trash without FFB that costs $50 in a local supermarket. There are no specific 'premium features', maybe except for something like direct drive, but various price brackets deliver various experiences. I think at this point I'd advise against G29 unless you can find a very decent deal on it, base design is very dated at this point (still a perfectly functional wheel though, just not really top of the game even for its price rance), T300 with 3pedal board is a solid choice and it's available everywhere so you can look for that, also check whatever new stuff thrustmaster has made recently because I remember they produced some new good stuff but can't remember what. H-shifter from TM is relatively expensive, but there are cheaper options if you're into that, like buying an old g27/g29 shifter online for $40 and then ordering a $10 usb adapter.
If you care about budget, don't bother going into meme high tier direct drive bullshit until you did your time on any decent budget wheel (so, ~$300 range) and you know what you want.
Games with the aesthetic?
frick cars are so soulless now
they dont even make twingos anymore
TNFS is the closest I can think of with its showcase videos
are you the anon that posted this earlier today too? I saw that thread and very rarely do I see a thread's follow up, wew
>spending the whole day on 4shit
Do something with your life anon
Black person, I saw it early in the morning, fell asleep, did my shit, then saw this one
are you moronic?
You're probably underestimating how much you are actually turning and how fast you are going. Race tracks are bigger than you think they are and with the camera you're probably vastly underestimating how much ground you're actually covering.
