the guy on the right looks already dead and dried up. Merrick is the lone leader of TPC atm.

ishihara is ancient, expect retirement before the end of the next hardware gen. it's a very realistic possibility that someone worse will replace him though

we're stuck with j*e until that goblin he tethered himself to bogs him down with joe jrs. even if it's his primary means of income, he can't keep it up as a labor of love forever

Didn't Masuda leave GF to just work at TPC? If Ishihara retires wouldn't that put Masuda in a good position to take it over and then he allowed to dictate not just main game shit but spinoffs as well?

but maybe that's the position where he can finally make a change. Remember, his magnum opus and ultimate vision for pokemon was gen 5. If we can return to those glory days...

Not gonna happen. We've seen his decent into TPC's Joker with Gen 5 failing, (for a Pokemon Generation, anyway) the shitload of Kanto Pandering in the 3D Generations, and his grooming of Ohmori which made the series that much worse.

That's how Japan works. Higher-ups "retire," but are kept around for consolation. They basically never lose their job.

you really think joe's pet ogre shitting out kids is going to stop him? the guy brought his laptop to his brother's wedding so he could catch a corocoro leak and missed his fiance's birthday for pokemon. he values himself way too much as a 'voice of the community'. genuinely don't think we'll ever be rid of him until he's literally dead

I think Ohmori did way more damage than Ishihara

Ishihara has been a part of this franchise since the very beginning, he was the founder of Creatures and he was the the producer of everything up to Crystal.

He's also the very reason Pokemon got localized in the first place, he saw enough opportunity in the concept to print mad merch bucks until they could afford to try an overseas effort, and did so cunningly and efficiently in such an oversaturated way that NoA couldn't meddle as much as they had ZERO faith in Pokemon succeeding in its current state.
Fastforward to the late 90's, and Pokemania was born, ensuring Pokemon would continue even past the planned sequel.

Obviously, because he worked under him and Masuda was helping him build-up to his position.
That doesn't mean he can't do well when he's finally on his own.
It's already been established, no matter how much Joe Merrick wants to deny it, that these past few years were held back due to Masuda's meddling.

SWSH was built, the pain is over, I'm willing to give Ohmori a chance to see how Scarlet and Violet will do, the fact that it's an open world with no progression stops (as far as we know with the current statement) is already good.

Then it goes back to what’s been argued about with swsh. You sacrifice quantity for quality. If the games offer something else to enrich the experience besides the Pokémon then the cuts won’t be that bad. Swsh was lambasted because it was an upscaled 3ds game with fewer Pokémon than SM.

Masuda isn't gone gone, just gone from gamefreak. He's been promoted to a higher position where he oversees all TPC as a company, everything pokemon related iirc. Correct me if i'm wrong. Think similar to miyamoto, basically just a face

        >promoted
You mean 'demoted'. He oversees all but he no longer have power to affect anything related to deep game mechanics and tinkerings. The only power he has now is setting a release date. He is like the Japanese emperor now. Reigns but powerless to rule

      I believe it's July 17
On the 27th he said "LESS THAN THREE MORE WEEKS"
and then he said that he planned it on a Sunday cause he doesn't expect Pokemon to be updated.

3 weeks plus Sunday looks to be July 17

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm afraid of losing Masuda. He was the last tie to the original games and you can already tell that Gen 9 barely resembles Pokemon.
