Twitter literally does not matter for sales

Why are developers so eager to bend over for them?

Because twitter screenshots are inevitably reposted on other social media sites like instagram and Ganker, thus giving them exponentially more reach.

Twitter is for visibility only. It doesn't convert into sales but it gets attention. That is all. Twitter is full of journalists(of all kinds), writers, creative people in general. The kind of people who tend to bang on their drum as soon as something happens that they feel strongly about which sets off a chain reaction and trickles down into articles and directly affect your companies reputation. Again, this has nothing to do with sales but public perception.

And Twitter is full of mentally ill sociopaths who will endless shit upon a game if it doesn't meet the woke politics checklist, even if they had zero interest in or intention to purchase the game in the first place. Look at Tomodatchi Life, what should have been a 3DS sleeper hit with funny mii meme generation turned into game journalists banding together to use the game as a reason to crusade for LGBT rights before giving it low review scores and meter mentioning the game ever again.

Same reason why some mentally ill devs want to appeal to you, you mantecose inbreed fat monkeys: If they feel that they have the approval of some nameless homosexual that no longer feels joy on video games and have as a hobby nitpicking every aspect of game, they will feel like the accomplished an astonishing feat.

The steam algorithm does you cretin.
The whole point is conversion rates. That's how this business works.

Well it also works like this on other platforms.
Front page mentions are always the result of a mix between wishlists and interactions.
Unless the spot is paid for of course.

homosexual ass games like ooblets only ever got attention because they were featured on festivals.

And then they threw it all away by acting like twitter troons.

              >boot tf2 >2fort

Because like Ganker and tumblr, it's mostly sewage with the occasional gem, and those gems get reposted and shared elsewhere, so if that hurts your image, it could affext sales.

Twitter is funny in that its better than most of those things for exposure but the people your game is actually exposed to are subhumans who mostly use the site to harass and engage in culture war shit. Other sites your product is more likely to be discovered by people who have an interest in the medium.
