That's what happens when you give a special tank the ability to raise its physical defense, while there are no good fighting-type moves.

Yup, that made Pokemon bulkier overall.

And has an extremely wide movepool along with JUST enough special attack to be able to its special moves effectively against things like Skarmory.

It's not only broken. It's so broken it's literally considered the best pokemon even in the uber tier.

Well you see... The thing is when smogon would be completely justified in the ban of snorlax. FOR SOME REASON Snorlax is allowed in OU in gen 2. Which is why it's on literally every team.

          Anonymous

          1. Smogon doesn't actually ban all that much despite what seething competetivelets might tell you
          2. They don't want to completely change old metas. Snorlax is THE central pillar of Gen 2
          3. There was a Snorlax-less alt-meta of Gen 2. It was even worse than when Snorlax was available since Snorlax kept a lot of broken Pokemon in check
          4. Banning Snorlax would necessitate a cascade of new bans as Pokemon like Raikou, Zapdos, Cloyster, and Gengar suddenly become overpowered without their biggest counter around
          5. The boomers who still play Gen 2 OU and its average 120 turn games don't want Snorlax banned because they like the meta as it is, and banning Snorlax would drastically alter a 2 decade old meta.

IIRC, the only time they drastically altered a meta after it was long gone was Gen 4 OU where they allowed Latias into OU and banned Arena Trap and Baton Pass. Most of that was voted on by the Gen 4 OU playerbase, and Arena Trap and Baton Pass got the axe in most generations (except Gen 3, IIRC)

Baton Pass in gen 3 isn't fully banned, but there's so many asinine rules attached that it might as well be.

You don't check broken with broken if you need something that's broken to stop another thing that's broken then that already shows that the metagame is unhealthy as is.

            >2. They don't want to completely change old metas. Snorlax is THE central pillar of Gen 2
Because it's so old barely anyone plays it.

            >4. Banning Snorlax would necessitate a cascade of new bans as Pokemon like Raikou, Zapdos, Cloyster, and Gengar suddenly become overpowered without their biggest counter around
they wouldn't exactly become OP. More like GSC is a relic of much worse balance times so keeping it as it remains is just less work since no one wants to go back to that shitshow.

            >5. The boomers who still play Gen 2 OU and its average 120 turn games don't want Snorlax banned because they like the meta as it is, and banning Snorlax would drastically alter a 2 decade old meta.
They don't have enough people to do the whole banning process nor a meta populated enough to actually get stuff done.

            >1.
noone is making that claim. they are just banning the wrong things. strawman.
            > 2
noone said that. again, strawman. what they dont want to change is whatever they like.
            >3.
those pokemon are only broken due to other bans as well. stop looking at things in a vacuum.
            >4.
even if what you claimed is true, unless you can fit all of them on every team each time, it might still be more fun and diverse than snorlax in every game.
            >5.
            lmao boomer ageism
its the smogom process that s the problem.
nobody mentioned zoomers even. rent free lmao.

why would GF give a shit about an event only mon who doesn't show up until like half way through the post game and then is only ever used as the boss mon of the final boss after your one encounter?

i can't see why it would need it, except to boost its defense.

Obviously not. Those are different sets. Belly Drum Snorlax is for instant, raw power. Curse is a slow burn

I recall reading an in depth analysis of a match by Borat where he faced off against a Snorlax that ran both as to frick over Miltank and Umbreon. This was like 20 metas ago though so it's likely not viable now.

ho-oh would make the meta even “stallier” than it is right now.
it’s bulky as shit and has curse and recover.

        >curse and recover
it would probably run rest though? and it gets stuffed harder by suicune than Snorlax does
