They might have been trying to move actual game files/playable demos before they got cut off, but their first course of action would have been copying all the powerpoints and emails possible without even bothering to read them to see if they contained any gold. Hackers are perusing classified info as we speak.

No, you definitely can do that for most IT especially during Christmas weekend. Nobody will notice.

IT doesn't manually monitor all traffic in a huge intranet - we have automated systems (IDS) that monitor everything autonomously which could range policy violations to data accessed and total bandwidth used. 900GB in 2 days would trigger every IDS on the planet and automatically raise red flags to every admin, your CS department and most likely ban your account too if not downright shutting down all access to critical services and company lifelines.

"Hacker" can be a misleading term since a lot of "hacks" are just about calling through the employees until one is dumb enough to give his username and password to hacker claiming to be Dan from tech support.

A lot of these places will literally just give you a new password if you call them and give them a valid username. It's ridiculous how little large corporations care about security until they get buttfricked. Most of them outsource their helpdesks to Indians who absolutely do not a give a frick.

Yeah I wonder how even that NVidia teenager was able to do it. Maybe if they find out the employees' emails, using that for some type of fishing scam? Redirect to the company website later to make it seem like it went through, while the hacker gets a copy of the credentials.

Did you see what happened to one of the dudes that started switch emulation?
He got caught, and nintendo basically put him in debt for the rest of his life.
Nintendo are turbo israelites about that stuff. It's not worth the risk.

moron Black person you're thinking about the dude involved with the switch mod chip which sold a separate license specifically to run commercial games and that also managed a site with roms. He had nothing to do with emulation

what do you think the modchips he sold were used to play, moron. he wasn't involved with emulation, just plain piracy

Are you suggesting that use in chipped consoles is the only things roms are for?

                Anonymous

no, but he wasn't involved with emulation like the other guy said, might as well say nintendo is involved in switch emulation because without switch there wouldn't be switch emulators either, it's moronic

                Anonymous

Anon if you host roms, you're involved in emulation. Not everyone at your site has a modded switch.

moron, they did not get him for "emulation" because it's not a crime. Selling games that aren't yours to sell is a crime which is what he was doing

he shouldn't of made that emulator then moron. Shit happens when you break the law.

what are you morons talking about? It has nothing to do with emulation
he was just selling a method to modify the console, the sx-pro, which was illegal
it has nothing to do with emulation, absolute morons

not that moron but i come with a more moronic reply
i would absolutely fake a breach/hack/ransom with the company i work for for 2 reasons, and a bonus 3rd reason
        >the public would absolutely believe it if choreographed well, and being that i know enough about this stupid bullshit i could flawlessly do it
        >it would only be known to specific people high up, and while demoralizing, would incentivize everyone else to up their security game
        >it could be useful to "leak" a cancelled project or two that some devs are still pissed didnt get into the release of day

say what you want, we are definitely collapsing and morons are failing at basic shit, but there is equally, if not, more morons that would fall for a fake breach

Even though Ubisoft is infamous for faking leaks to generate hype for their corpse IPs. I doubt showing that their latest Farcry sold less under their expectations will boost their stocks.

Okay, I am sorry, I am going to have to be a massive homosexual here and bring non-/v/idya RL politics.
It should be painfully obvious that the US government conducted 9/11 just like they assassinated Jeffery Epstein. They talked about wanting to motivate Americans for new wars and past spying bills and mentioned about they could do it in a response to a "new Pearl Harbor incident." Modern governments HATE the Internet and want to knee cap it entirely. And guess what the US government has mentioned multiple times regarding this?
    >"An Internet 9/11."
I don't believe that video game companies are just uniquely bad at cybersecurity. I am waiting for shit like
    >Google gets 'hacked.'
    >Google: "We're sorry for the inconvenience so to make sure this doesn't happen again you are now forced to use two-factor + your real ID if you just want to have an email address and do the most basic shit on the Internet."
    >Google: "Also the hack conveniently makes all the blatant illegal shit we do invalid for court cases because it's now illegally attained information and also all the data needed to convict us on cases that are still valid are lost now sorry lolololol."
