The reason for that is not because of the IP, it's because of who GW gives the IP too. Besides Relic this is one of those rare times where they've actually given the IP to a studio that isn't a literal fricking who.
I think henry cavill ought to start taking it a bit easy and rein in his nerd shit. He is pretty solid in the witcher, but even with his solid performance it's a fricking six out of ten at very best.

Episode 1 was fine since it was just a reimagining of the Nivellen story with Ciri in the mix.
The rest of season 2 was dogshit. Didn't even give us the Yen letter.
I think the guy's found his niche, and it's honestly a pretty smart one. Video games, like it or hate it, are on the rise and making sure to have a foot in the video games and movies/shows is a clever idea.
His agents are smart to ham up the nerd appeal, making sure he stays in the grayzone between the two mediums.
the witcher is a 4/10 and all of those four come from him
if it were an original IP with the same plot / characters minus cavill not one person would care
