Like every US made game doesn't come out broken.
Worse than that, it's shitty gameplay. Elden Ring recovered from negative reviews regarding performance, and Wo Long IS recovering from negative reviews as it went from Mostly Negative to Mixed. Bleak Faith has nothing going for it.
I remember when elden ring came out and PC performance was either shit or playable but stuttery. It did eventually get fixed and now it's fine. You can't recover from bad animations, bad gameplay, bad core mechanics. I mean you CAN, but at that point they really should have just delayed it or scrapped what they had years ago. I would even argue that they should have not made it into a souls-like shit, should've been a slower action game instead with it's own unique mechanics.
They also fucked themselves for not allowing the general public to play different versions of their game and only allowed certain people to. If they wanted the souls autist community they should have been generous with public demos, they would have been told exactly what they needed to do years ago.

Character movement feels like it's from 2001. It's so bad that you can't look past and see anything good about the game. And sadly it is such a fundamental aspect of a game that it is never getting fixed. Let me give you an idea. It looks a lot worse than DKS 2 movement. And DKS2 movement is absolute garbage.

You slide around, get stuck on everything, there's no weight or friction to character movement (including enemies), dodge doesn't work 90% of the time and you have stamina of a snail. It's just off putting, you should not be allowed to release games this unpolished.
It has cool looking Blame!-esque environment (main reason i gave it a chance since i have 0 faith in indie souls-likes, especially of this scale) - but you can still see it was probably made by one guy, it's pretty shallow. Enemy design is pretty random so are their attacks and animations.

yes also the camera feels like it is floating a little too high on the y axis so when you move the camera to look up even a bit you like looks where the bottom half of your character is

Yeah the art style and aesthetics are great, they just needed either a god coder to actually come close to whatever they were attempting, or someone with a proper head on their shoulder directing them so they can actually produce a game that feels good and is within the scope of their small team. It's like 3 construction workers tasked with building a city, the first few building will be okay but eventually its going to turn out like the chinese super cities where its all pretty exteriors with nothing inside.

Hellpoint is ironically much more cohesive game in my opinion. I only have 2 hours in bleak faith but the exploration does not feel that good to me. It's cool to walk around for a bit and see a good structure, but the process of getting there is unenjoyable and theres not much to comment on when exploring around. It's very much a "its about the destination, not the journey" kind of game.
Bleak Faith wishes it was half as good as Hellpoint, and Hellpoint already wasn't very good.
Hellpoint's ending was a mess but it was unironically the 2nd best Soulslike out there, just behind NOSE.

having played for an hour after pirating so i have no dog in this fight:
movement feels very floaty and imprecise for a game where you have to jump alot to reach certain places. This is the biggest problem.
expected levels of jank and bugs with teleporting enemies getting stuck in walls sometimes etc.
exploration is the thing that they got right. Lots of paths splitting off everywhere, sometimes being a dead end, sometimes rejoining main paths and sometimes leading to new areas.
Im enjoying for the weird setting and atmosphere alone so im gonna play some more now. Wouldnt buy it at this point though

Because like it or not Ganker is one of the most (if not the most) influential websites and has been for many years, to the point where most internet culture is shaped by this place. Every other large social hub is downstream of Ganker, they all use memes made here, and have done so for over a decade. On top of that this place has a huge flow of users and users here are generally more dedicated than on places like reddit so you can expect more and higher quality free advertising if its picked up.

I just don't understand the mindset of indie devs. They'll spend years building the level designs of their dreams, when they can't even get basic combat gameplay right. Instead of first focusing on making a solid core vertical slice before making the game and assets.
Dudes just used the UE4 default chracter controllers and kept adding new statemachines to it. On top of that they didn't lay out their level designs proper with flat invisible planes to delimit the play areas so you get stucks in every staircase.
It's really amateurish but the game has its charm somehow. Not like I paid for it lel.

No, you can steal the data used to create an animation. You cannot steal the final result viewed from outside. Anyone can perform swings and spins etc. You can use another character's moves in your game even if you don't own said character so long as it's not the data from that game.
