Game is set to enter early access by the end of the month.
There's going to be a real-time campaign map instead of it being mission-based like the predecessors, that made UG:CW and the ship game a bit boring and lowered the replay value, I think.
There are few short videos of the gameplay that were made public on their forums and their gay secret discord hideout. Looks like they attached the ship mechanics from Ultimate Admiral.
Kind of wish that they went with a Napoleon or Great Northern War setting, but I guess just two factions is easier to handle. There's another video embedded on their website that shows cavalry. The cavalry charge looks pretty bad though. Cav charges were awful in UG:CW too, hope they improve that

Amphibious landings too?
Those were the only interesting battles in UA.
Cool, looks more interesting than their games since UG:CW.
God, Age of Sail sucked.
They managed to make a game all about naval battles where the naval battles were awful
What was terrible about them? I never played the game, the preview videos looked boring.
Ok so I’m getting close to the end of my first campaign and I’m losing interest. Have you played Dreadnought and is it better/should I buy?
This game had great potential until they were bought out by that Chinese company. Now we're looking at a shallow mobile game.
>This game had great potential until they were bought out by that Chinese company.
more like it had zero potential at all (unless with a succesfull kickstarter campaign) before the chink dollars
anyway it looks cool
What about you go back and eat some pharoah slop instead

After what they did to Dreadnoughts, I have 0 hope
what did they do to dreadnoughts?
ah yes, our latest shill thread I see.
>Kind of wish that they went with a Napoleon or Great Northern War setting, but I guess just two factions is easier to handle.
dont you understand how they work? they release games to test for their future games. age of sail, the civil war games, all to test for this game, which in turn will be to test for their future napoleon game. it all builds upon each other.

dudes games are kinda ass tbh, for an acclaimed AI genius modder, his AI is fricking shit AND his games are notoriously hard to mod. thats rich coming from a guy whos claim to fame is modding. but whatever we will see when the game comes out.
Looks neat. I just want them to focus on an interesting singleplayer. That's why I could never get into Ultimate General Civil War, the campaign just felt like a series of "bot" matches rather than an actual campaign.
>I guess just two factions is easier to handle.
Maybe they can make Bongs ultra OP and add in French. They could add red indians as well.
I hope the Brits can hire Hessian mercs at least.
>There's another video embedded on their website that shows cavalry. The cavalry charge looks pretty bad though.
One of my biggest problems with CW is that the units can just "phase" trough each other without any penalties. I get that it's not physics-based, but seeing the horsemen just charge trough the line infantry in front of them without any repercussion on their speed or formation just looks wrong.
Really bothers me that the AI in CW never advances its artillery or even protects it with a unit in the back. Flanking and destroying half the enemy's cannons with one unit of skirmishers with sniper rifles always feels comical.

it looks like a mobile game
How does it look like a mobile game? Does it need a grey filter instead?
He literally just explained why it looked like a mobile game you unbelievably stupid little runt.
Still not convinced. Ultimate general games have much higher scale of units. It's done for gameplay reasons. I'm sure units getting stuck on buildings and other units like total war is fun gameplay.
i would unironically play this on my phone.
hot take but combat like this
is what could fix games like ck or eu

this
>beat some yankee dogs
>they just run through my lines like its nothing

holy shit finally
It was so frustrating to repeatedly wipe out the enemy and do all the optional objectives and always end up outnumbered anyways, even as the fricking union
>just two factions
Wait what? What about French/Spanish/Dutch Empires? The Siege of Gibraltar HAS to be in the game, right?
It looks like it's gonna be the modern myth version of the war then, shame, but I guess it probably sells to market better that way.
Another fort from the alpha version, looks like Fort Fair on steroids. Hope this is just a placeholder for a start fort or something.
>Hope this is just a placeholder
Don't be so fricking naive you nitwit.
Why do I want to attack this? Why don't I just go around, or put my cannons up on the surrounding hills and rape them? God, brits are so fricking stupid.
If your cannons are in range of them their cannons are in range of you moron.
you are too dumb for strategy games.
t. CA
well tbh the brits gave this fort up without a single shot fired
Looks like the max company size for line infantry is going to be 320 men and for skirmishers 100.
I still want to know if the locations of the forts on the map are predetermined or if you can just plop them down everywhere like in Medieval 2.
>another game where the muskets sound like wet pop guns
Frick's sake, how come Shogun 2 is the only game that got the sound of blackpowder firearms with giant calibres right?
