Oh yeah and maybe it's just me but I'd personally avoid using Guard Thrust in situations like that. I honestly think you can get way more mileage out of VO with that meter instead.
Maybe save those for when you got meaty attacks on top of you and you're scared of a mix-up when VO isn't an option.
The damage is probably the best Hyde gets midscreen without meter. But you REALLY need to maintain proper height for the 5A afterwards. 6B into 3C is also finicky when it comes to spacing since you really want to be point blank as it hits.
It's great damage but fricking up means you lost out on a damn 6B confirm.
>Oh yeah and maybe it's just me but I'd personally avoid using Guard Thrust in situations like that.
I was wondering why I seem to be the only one using guard thrust as a go to out. I figured since it doesn't grd break you anymore its a safer option than VO which people in this lobby like just space/bait all day

As far VO-ing this lobbies go, it's a player to player basis. You just have to remember who likes doing it a lot more because there are some standouts who come to mind.
More likely than not, you'd have to be faster with the 236B right after as to not eat up both a wallbounce and a knockdown after since you're not adjusting much for height with FF as your starter.
IMO if you can feel when your opponent is going for a big meaty swing/special and occasionally when you want to get out of corner and notice your opponent isn't throwing you too much are good times.
Chaos needs something. Azhi's a paper tiger even with vorpal. Either revert A normals being capable of killing or give Chaos his old vorpal that makes 623A/B invincible.
He wouldn't even be so gimped if he wasn't so punished for Azhi dying. Either make Azhi hardier or make Azhi's recovery faster.
Additionally, make his 2FF force a knockdown. It's such an awkward move as it is now and already risky enough with it essentially being a knowledge check against people to see if they know it's possible to kill Azhi when he's on the wall.
I'm intoxicated enough to splooge on this game, are there people here patient enough to fight a total noob?
you will get your ass beat but if you're willing to take the beating you will learn very quickly. Plus most people here are nice enough to answer questions and give advice
Theres still a decent chunk of noobs/almost noobs around on matchmaking. Assuming you're NA.
I doubt anyone here has a problem with playing against a noob either.
Also yeah the sword slides in pretty deep and moves her forward. How has assault worked out for you (unless they're not spamming it often enough to react to it). 2B is also quite dangerous for similar reasons.
i'm losing to it in footsies situations, probably cause i didn't realize it moves her forward. Its also just incredibly active and seems to clip me randomly. I'll try to remember to assault it
hyde's pressure loses some teeth without meter to make it gapless no?

For Hyde, you use CS in place of meter, so that you can then gain the meter for doing the pressure extension too. if you're already at 200 meter, then instead do meter > CS > meter > meter
At least for me I forget you get a decent payout even after spending the initial part on IW So I'm always afraid to cash out like that and lose vorpal bonus.
I do a lot of CS > IW with Tsurugi but I'm still traumatized with how slow Hyde's IW was back in CLR/[st] that I instinctively don't try and CS before it to not frick with timing.
It's weird. We can somewhat play with Europe as long as we're level horizontally but we go vertically we get hilariously bad results. The South always had the wonkiest connection.
And Alaska I guess.
oh I do have US people to play with, but the game's netcode is not quite there yet, we can do 3f and it's playable but no one should deal with eltnum 66C on 3f delay, sucks because we can play stuff like kof, melty, gg, just fine except this game
it's definitely a lot better than on release, though
Don't the Brazilians play this game, or do they only like melty blood.
they have their own server but while I can understand some br, I dont speak it, sure I could just talk in english but eh. ill have to keep that option in mind though, but I just really want to see if theres actually people from this country playing, it feels like im the only person in this place that plays these games, and the sad part is that I suck, and even worse is seeing online/local tourney announcements that do include argentina, yet when I go to any server a lot of channels have their latest post be several years old
>but no one should deal with eltnum 66C on 3f delay
4 frame delay on Playstation was the norm for us a couple years back. Doesn't PC inherently have less input delay too?
PC has so little delay in comparison to other options that i've seen a few people in some other games argue that PC setups shouldn't be tournament legal because it makes defense way better than the devs probably intended.
I've fought against Japanese players just fine. If you have the game already, it's worth at least hopping in to try.
We're already fighting coast to coast here with relatively little issues nowadays.
TK 623X are the avenue to true Seth damage.
That and the new 2FF
You can always do the input and add 9 at the end for a pretty painless TK. So just do 6239B.
As long as it works and all that. Maybe he's not comfortable pulling out the big guns in tournament setting so is opting for the safe stuff (especially sinec his opponent was Kuon right?).
Isn't the culture of JP fightan defensive-focused?
I forgot where I saw it but I remember reading a large discussion about the differences between NA and JP mindsets. I can see Kuon being rough against people who focus more on blocking and baiting out unsafe moves.
It looks like well timed Hyde 22B is pretty good in the Wald matchup.
Both 22A and 22B are really good because we can't destroy them like we can 236. Sure we can jump over it, but who the frick wants to jump against Hyde's 3C?
I agree, it's pretty annoying. From my experience, I think if my 22X collides with it as it's about to be sent out, your FF wins. I think because it somehow refreshes how many hits it absorbs or something?
But if it's already traveling, 22X wins.
>Or maybe 236A > CS
Probably won't do anything against laser + pillar
Maybe try dash blocking the force lightning until you get in range to start pressing things like 5A/5B/2B?
A grounded approach is best honestly since any laser that's jumped over will be caught by pillar unless you're really up in his face to hit him before the pillar appears.
GGs as always broskis. Feeling pretty good about the Hyde progress and getting better at the rekka timing little by little. I think next on the list is to get consistent with that 2C > 22B stuff.
Alright, GGs everyone.
I'll study match footage over the week but I still really want to get used to responding to blocked reversals with more punishing starters.
Not every starter is going to let you get 2C > 22B, just keep that in mind.
belated ggs everyone. that was a really fun set pyro. thanks for going to 10 instead of 5. i gotta find my steam faster since i think the ft 5 was like 5-1 lol
GGs and thanks for the set asin. That comeback factor was charging in in the back half of the set and there was alot of back and forth too. Fun times. Glad I could get in an IWEX to end out on.
i gotta say though not once did you give me a chance to assault over 2C lmao. I tried squeezing in some more 22xs like you recommended last time we played but I think i was choosing the wrong moments for them
Yeah I tend to stick to 2B for footsies and usually fit my 2C after my 5C because I can delay it pretty good and sweep people pretty nicely with it. What really chewed me up this time around seemed to be [FF] overheads. 22x definitely could use alittle better timing but also prepare for in case I use my FF to roll out of them. I think you might be able to punish my roll if it's the 22A version since I think you can recover fast enough to hit me before I recover from the roll.
All in all good stuff and you managed to get a pretty good amount of perfects this time around. I think once you get better at handling red life vs red life scenarios you'll have my number for sure haha.
>I think once you get better at handling red life vs red life scenarios
yeah i wouldn't say im outright choking anymore but I still gotta develop that killer instinct for the first touch wins scenarios. I think for me its trying to find the line between confident play and reckless play.
Pass is vee
EVO JP has been going on, and I haven't tuned in.
legitimately would be down to just watch the stream with the lobby somehow lol
>EVO JP has been going on
shit I've been missing it
I don't think they've been streaming pools so not much we could do, I could be wrong though. I was catching up on sleep.
lightning does strike twice!
Frick, didn't do my corner reversal/VO punish route.
>cvo pb catch into IW
that was hype
Bringer into CVO IW is 100% for style points.
The former cuts into damage scaling so hard now.
Oh yeah, we can convert off of stray FF hits midscreen without meter now.
https://twitter.com/bmen/status/1782211893383565396
So you micro drash after B fireball followup?
yeah looks like microdash 2C to me too
Neat 66B combo
One down, two to go.
Remember asin, you can get a full 2C > 22B conversion off of rekka after the 623A > 214B
i assumed the starter would be too prorated. i'll make sure i adjust
I was pretty surprised myself but fitting A-DP early in Hyde's combos lead to surprisingly flexible options and good damage.
oh shit that was sick. optimal enough to practice?
Oh yeah and maybe it's just me but I'd personally avoid using Guard Thrust in situations like that. I honestly think you can get way more mileage out of VO with that meter instead.
Maybe save those for when you got meaty attacks on top of you and you're scared of a mix-up when VO isn't an option.

That FF starter probably works in the corner with some adjustments yeah?
More likely than not, you'd have to be faster with the 236B right after as to not eat up both a wallbounce and a knockdown after since you're not adjusting much for height with FF as your starter.
When is it a good idea to use 3D?
IMO if you can feel when your opponent is going for a big meaty swing/special and occasionally when you want to get out of corner and notice your opponent isn't throwing you too much are good times.
I'm trying to use it against meaty Mika j[C]s and slower/more telegraphed projectiles like Vat A-Orb, Phonon 236[X], and Kaguya 66C
>lumina is getting a balance patch soon
Is UNI2 next? Who should get buffed?
Chaos better get something or I riot
chaos isnt even that bad but he should get a little something
Tsurugi needs a 22x
Chaos needs the changes to Azhi reverted or at least retweaked
Chaos needs something. Azhi's a paper tiger even with vorpal. Either revert A normals being capable of killing or give Chaos his old vorpal that makes 623A/B invincible.

Vatista could use something. Damage buff or reverting one of the nerfs.

I'm intoxicated enough to splooge on this game, are there people here patient enough to fight a total noob?
The patience is entirely on you if you're down to (most likely) consistently lose for a while.
So long as you're willing to learn the game, nobody in these lobbies minds newbies. Periodically a second lobby is made with the newer players too.
Theres still a decent chunk of noobs/almost noobs around on matchmaking. Assuming you're NA.
I doubt anyone here has a problem with playing against a noob either.
NOT THIS TIME
Nice backdash.
What the other guy said, what is your tolerance level for losing?
Your yomi is too much for me
My heart starts beating faster anytime I see a Mika with Vorpal and 100 meter
I kinda forgot 66B's uses after learning 22B links.
pyro can i get another set with your linne after the lobby? The ones in ranked have been exceedingly tough recently. 2C is giving me nightmares
Sure, I'll give ya some fights.
I'll try to remember to assault it
>2C is giving me nightmares
It's a real treat to realize that Hyde 2C is so stubby compared to the others.
It's a damn meaty tool than anything else.
I don't think i've seen any of us actually use 2C meaty. Pure combo tool in my eyes
I try to do it sometimes for midscreen meaties.
I think I saw it work twice
Linne 2C is a very funny button
Everybody is hiding except for me.
I need the mirror experience.
I've been the Hyde for so long that I'm not that used to the match-up
Jacko cosplayer playing right now
don't mind me just choking to death over here
Another thing, I see you popping CS a bit too much just in neutral. Maybe try looking for better opportunities to use it.
I hear you. I think i value getting the meter off of it too much vs vorpal state
Supposedly you build meter better in vorpal state in this game.
it's always been like that, you gain slightly more meter during vorpal.
unless your character isn't threatening at all without meter, it's not worth it.
hyde's pressure loses some teeth without meter to make it gapless no?
For Hyde, you use CS in place of meter, so that you can then gain the meter for doing the pressure extension too. if you're already at 200 meter, then instead do meter > CS > meter > meter
cs iw is really good in this game you get such a fat meter refund but i don't see people (in the lobby) do it as much as they probably should
At least for me I forget you get a decent payout even after spending the initial part on IW So I'm always afraid to cash out like that and lose vorpal bonus.
I do a lot of CS > IW with Tsurugi but I'm still traumatized with how slow Hyde's IW was back in CLR/[st] that I instinctively don't try and CS before it to not frick with timing.
I thought I was dead kek
I thought for sure one of us didn't pause EVO JP in the back for those lag-spikes.
I think it's because I just unfocus the window a lot. It's what's been causing me to DC from the lobby too (I assume).
>DC from the lobby
That couldn't be it since I'm alt-tabbing a lot too.
Guess it's just a bad night then. It's particularly windy so I wouldn't be surprised.
Too bad that 2FF didn't hit at the end of that, would've been clean.
Wow that FF punished 6B pretty far.
Okay for real, the lobbies need a "in character select notification" underneath the characters.
I personally wish it were back to the old days of character select screen but alas everyone wants to get in and out of matches right away.
It's probably how everyone forgot how MBTL's character select sounds like because it started this with FB games.
at least it tells you when you left bumper but yeah i agree
I've had this annoying bug that just freezes me controls when I use that button to see the room status.
same
that lotus saved your ass so fricking hard lol
>3C comes out as 2C
>Twice
That combo with neutral jump j.A looked pretty neat.
where my argie homies at please tell me theres a community every discord server is barren and I have to cope and play in the chilean one
You could try playing here and see how it performs.
It's weird. We can somewhat play with Europe as long as we're level horizontally but we go vertically we get hilariously bad results. The South always had the wonkiest connection.
And Alaska I guess.
I wonder if it has to do with those regions having poor net infrastructure or the ISPs throttling the speeds?
I wonder what terrible internet company Alaska is stuck with.
oh I do have US people to play with, but the game's netcode is not quite there yet, we can do 3f and it's playable but no one should deal with eltnum 66C on 3f delay, sucks because we can play stuff like kof, melty, gg, just fine except this game

huh didnt know that, guess 3f wouldnt be that big of an issue
ill wait for an update or two and maybe start coming to these threads from then on
I've fought against Japanese players just fine. If you have the game already, it's worth at least hopping in to try.
We're already fighting coast to coast here with relatively little issues nowadays.
Don't the Brazilians play this game, or do they only like melty blood.
damn, fat fingered my throw macro and got IW
>Misclick CVO
>Win
I went "wow that was a nice OS" when I saw that
I keep telling you all.
I don't OS
Although in hindsight, baiting out a response using my incredibly unsafe 5A or 3B and CVOing sounds like a tactic to write down.
i was having a fun and good time in the seth mission mode until that delay tiger knee 623b showed up in 5-5 or whatever it was
TK 623X are the avenue to true Seth damage.
That and the new 2FF
You can always do the input and add 9 at the end for a pretty painless TK. So just do 6239B.
Am I mistiming 66C after Hyde's EX fireball or should I go with something else instead? Maybe 6B?
hippie said to just go into rekka i think and i trust it
I see, so just keep it simple then. I'll try messing around with that.
The usual response Hydes go for after 236C is j[C] but rekka leads to more damage.
Although I have noticed you delaying the third hit way too much.
looks like uni finals are right after the lobby ends. Anyone else staying up?
I probably won't.
Do we even have brackets up for it? Who's advancing? How far did Notes get I wonder.
The most soul-stealing play of all.
Parrying a Guard Thrust.
i didn't even know seth had a parry man
Not many bother using the A-follow up but I think it's cool enough to use it in succession.
Apparently it got nerfed this time too.
Oh shit, even SeroSero is on Tsurugi?
Why does he still do those basic ass combos, SHOW ME SOMETHING GOOD DAMN IT.
As long as it works and all that. Maybe he's not comfortable pulling out the big guns in tournament setting so is opting for the safe stuff (especially sinec his opponent was Kuon right?).
I just caught a glimpse of back-jump j6C into a 2C that dropped.
Time to explore that routing I guess.
oh shit miyagi mutekis on
Oh you can link Hyde 22A with 5A like that huh? Pretty neat.
tsurugi's 66b anti-airing me was simultaneously hilarious and fricked up
Everyone fears the low but that launch up after also hits hilariously high
Does windowed mode cause delay in every game?
I wish I knew what serosero was planning to do after the j6C > 2C landed. If it was just a round of double 236xs then it only does like 3.1k
I completely forgot the timing for Chaos' 5BB > 5C BnB.
jp thinks kuon sucks? that's kinda funny
Isn't the culture of JP fightan defensive-focused?
I forgot where I saw it but I remember reading a large discussion about the differences between NA and JP mindsets. I can see Kuon being rough against people who focus more on blocking and baiting out unsafe moves.
they were the same way with vlov in TL, though JP has won every time they came up against vlov in top 8 afaik
They play a lot more patient and probably aren't eating those AA pillars from assault
i really want to just get this seth combo so i can get the frick off of him
I can't even tell what combo you're trying to do.
Is it the j2FF one?
just one of his veteran combos but i forget 623a doesnt pop them up in the air like 623b every single time
If you want slightly better midscreens asin, end in 214AAA since it lands you closer to them than 214BBB will.
>better midscreen advantage
Meant to say
I'll try that. I remember you telling me that midscreen oki is kinda not real for hyde though
That's why I said slightly better midscreen.
That animation reminded me of DRAGON OF THE DARKNESS FLAME!!!
LETS FRICKING GO PYROOOOOOOOOO
I'll take that victory as a sign of improvement in my Hyde play even if it was alittle sloppy.
I think I lucked out alittle bit of that to be fair haha though he does have some nice strengths in the matchup it seems.
That's how I knew Hyde is a bad matchup.
I'll be back, just wanted to get my rotation in before a shower
that seth combo on stream was unreal that guy has awesome confirms
i'm pretty sure mizuumi lists him as the top seth
Oshuhittou is as divine as they come
Ah didn't that guy have top RIP on PS netplay? Oshuhitto
He's THE best Seth in the world.
Dude never dropped playing the game.
clear lamp is up, damn byakuya cheeser
Oof I felt that grab whiff
>CSing in the web set-up
He had a PLAN
I wonder where all the Kaguya's are at? Maybe they just haven't been on stream?
Another set-up possibly.
tan could i get some games in one of these days i get shit on by ranked walds but i feel like kuon probably has a decent mu against him
Absolutely, just add me on steam.
Both 22A and 22B are really good because we can't destroy them like we can 236. Sure we can jump over it, but who the frick wants to jump against Hyde's 3C?
>but who the frick wants to jump against Hyde's 3C
It looks like well timed Hyde 22B is pretty good in the Wald matchup.
It's good in any match-up provided they don't jump over it.
>under night thread

>Chaos 22C vs. Kuon 623C
I hate that I'll never truly be sure when 2FF beats that 22x.
I agree, it's pretty annoying. From my experience, I think if my 22X collides with it as it's about to be sent out, your FF wins. I think because it somehow refreshes how many hits it absorbs or something?
But if it's already traveling, 22X wins.
>late descending jB into land > command grab
Pretty tricky stuff
dude i just don't understand how any of hydes buttons are supposed to beat kuons
I just wait to shield a teleport attack
that works against me because im a moron but probably not other kuons its not like he needs to teleport in
Kuon is strong as hell. I don't play Hyde, but how does 22A > CS do? Or maybe 236A > CS
>Or maybe 236A > CS
Probably won't do anything against laser + pillar
A grounded approach is best honestly since any laser that's jumped over will be caught by pillar unless you're really up in his face to hit him before the pillar appears.
Maybe try dash blocking the force lightning until you get in range to start pressing things like 5A/5B/2B?
I wonder if b orbiter >laser would have worked
22X looks pretty meaty.
Oh, a Japanese Waldstein on stream
Nevermind, he switched to Gord.
sorry i got that weird glitch again where a message from discord suddenly slows down UNI for some reason. Totally broke the pace of the match yeesh
Discord ruining my games even when I'm nowhere near it.
I second I saw Kuon have meter AND CS I knew that laser was coming out.
Looks like you were right about 22X getting beat if it gets tapped early
To be fair, EX laser is some shit
Come on that should have at least traded
2d games are lame and i dont like them
but that fencer girl looks cool
shame i will never come around to 2d gameplay
how many more go arounds hippie?
Oh frick, I didn't even look at the time.
Uh, maybe like 15 more minutes. We'll see.
damn clearlamp got worked. We did talk about how merk was byakuya's worst match up though
Which merk did him in? Crow? Ryusei?
Crow i think
Aayyyy Tokyo crew represent.
Could feel that spaghetti from both sides.
That was pure TENSION
I was about to cry if that IWEXS didn't kill though
Is nanase good?
incredibly good
Thank you
Pretty damn strong, yeah
She blows
Very good. Has good long pokes and variable fireball positioning as well as variable jumps with her FF among other options.
I'll close the lobby once it comes back around to me.
Alrighty. I'm like right behind you so I'll hop off for now.
Thanks for the games.
GGs lad
Sure thing. Let's get some fun matches in.
GGs
ggs
if you're still up for it pyro, i'll set the lobby up after your turn

Whew, nice DP

wait isaac sent clearlamp home? Holy shit i gotta watch that set
