Diagonals are not my issue, my issue is that the only way to not get 6C 623A off of 6C 236C is with a 5+ frame input of pure neutral which is a way worse method than doing 6C 41236A which would work in like every other fighting game I've ever played. I hate having to try and hit imperceptible timing gaps instead of just doing inputs that I can physically feel the feedback of.
Like I said. 6C has a huge cancel window and a lengthy animation so you can return to neutral immediately after you throw it out.

I like UNI2 more because the combos are just way more satisfying to do.
And I think MBTL let me get away with Guard Cancel Heat way too often. Plus it's combo structure, Moon Skills, Clashes, and Shields just feel really lame.

Neco Arc more or less hinted at dragging the OG universe into the new one.
She’s be in it already and we wouldn’t have filler characters if that was all it was, so I do think Nasu intends to use Len in the remake.
Uni2. No questions asked. I liked TL at the beginning (after it got fixed) and for Noel, but overall its gameplay just doesn't bring joy, you know. A match is basically comprised of you doing the same combos with little to no experimentation because of proration and less moves overall and when you absolutely want to dominate a round you pop moon drive out.
Asking this in a UNI thread is pretty silly but most people will side with UNI anyway because you can get more mileage in doing fancy combos whereas Type Lumina makes it not worth learning fancy combos when you can do the safe combos for similar damage and knockdown is always the same (either save a jump at the end of the air sequence for a safe jump or give them an EX move with hard knockdown to set up okizeme).
At least the movement in the game feels pretty good and I do miss doing round start movement shenangigans.

I just hate UNI's autistic inputs. What was wrong with MBAACC having simple inputs with the complexity being determined by how you link them together? UNI's mechanics being different was already enough to set it apart without also needing to make the inputs far more complicated and strict at the same time.
What inputs feel "complex" here to you? The only ones I would call complex are Vatista's reverse charges, but only she has it so it's fine.
UNI has stricter timing windows for inputs, more complicated inputs with more focus on non-gauge-consuming special moves being part of combos and such moves having variants and extenders / cancels with their own modifying inputs, significantly worse diagonal detection which fricks up 623 and similar inputs for some reason whereas they're totally reliable in MBAACC, more focus on cancels and different types of cancels at the same time as well, and of course the auto-combos being functionally separate to normal combos instead of just being input shortcuts that can be turned off (ie. smart steer). Whiffs, delays, and micro-dashes are all core parts of combos in UNI when they aren't in MBAACC, at least not to anywhere near the same extent. It's very different to MBAACC in controls, just compare Sion combos in MBAACC to Eltnum combos in UNI and the execution difference is immediately obvious.

Granted I've only played UNI1's variants and not UNI2 so I don't know how much 2 changes.
Uni has much longer combos on average but that's not really about the inputs. I don't think the timings are any tighter either, hard links in AACC are just as if not harder than hard links in Uni.
If anything Uni inputs are easier, the buffer is much more generous and consistent, TKs are way less precise and don't have to contend with superjump changing the timing and assault is just one button with no timing required even for IAA unlike AACC IAD(which doesn't buffer like TL's does even with the macro)
I think you're just feeling the difference between basic melty j.BC BC airthrow level stuff and Uni's much longer BNBs. The basic inputs are pretty normal for an anime game, though admittedly that's still noticeably harder than most modern simplified fighters.
What's different between UNI's and Melty's inputs? I honestly can't tell you the difference, and I've been playing AACC on and off for almost 10 years.
What I genuinely hate about Melty is its hitstop, some moves are just too difficult to hit confirm online
Besides a few charracters I think most of UNI's cast are easier to play than most of Melty's cast if you decide to go for the higher damage combos (with some moon exceptions if you're playing MBAACC)

Yeah if you ever come back to it I recommend jumping between the different characters in Training Mode as movement is pretty different between alot of them (even the dashes).

I assumed Queen of Heart was proto Melty considering it's one of French Bread's earliest works but it definitely had its own identity.
If you're not in standby mode for the UNI lobby I'll host for a bit on parsec. I think it's worth trying if you're into Melty Blood. There was a character who had the same exact grab as the sleeveless shirt fire man which I thought was cool.
Melty's movement is as smooth as butter, it's definitely the best part. Unfortunately mastering said mobility also means you can expect a lot of hours of fighting BnBs that auto corner you from anywhere on screen and then praying to figure out the gap in the opponent's pressure, assuming there is one. Melty pressure is brutal and its defensive mechanics are not exactly intuitive and easy to pick up on unfortunately.

It was the reason I dropped it eventually. I'm sure mechanics like shield, IB, and the burst can be used to circumvent that stuff but as a beginner it was just hours and hours of blocking in the corner. I already main another kuso and I don't know if I have it in me to ever go through the beginner process again.

+R, been playing since about when it got rollback. It's my main game but I've been trying to branch out and think UNI2 is going to be the first modern game I actually want to get good at. I put a few dozen hours into Strive, SF6, and Granblue but none of them were fun enough for me to stick to. I liked KoFXV quite abit actually but holy frick is KoF hard, a lot of people say its the team aspect but hit confirming off of hops is brutal and I felt lucky any time I could even confirm my basic BnBs, cool game but damn does it feel like you need legacy skill or be ready to grind hundred of hours to become remotely competent.
Granblue is really stale, innit? You should try Vampire Savior if you haven't.

I try not to shit on other games generally but yeah, granblue just seems like such a slog thinking about it in the long term. There was definitely some fun ideas here and there between the cast but ultimately as I got to higher ranks seeing who can corner the other player and then dump every resource they have into their mega frick huge damage cinematic super killed my motivation to continue. Still got to try vsav some day, the speed of that game is fricking insane, even a lot of anime fighters seem "slow" compared to some of the matches I've seen of it.
I've actually been watching quite a bit of that game, found an arcade in Japan that uploads streams. Kind of sucks since there's so few people playing so it's only a handful of characters/arcana but it's neat, the amount of screen real estate combined with the homing dash looks like a lot of fun just to move around with.
Yeah, not only is the movement really fun to play around but you get alot of ways to play around with the characters movesets depending on the Arcana choices. It's really fun for both the movement and figuring out your combo options.
One day can be today if you feel like hopping on fightcade for Vsav. There's also Angel Eyes on fightcade which is like a proto Arcana Heart with its homing dash.
