glad to see there's still people around that remember putting a new numeral in a fighting game is supposed to mean something. If they'd just called it "UniBased Photonpregnation In the Deep Night Remix Edition" this would all be fine, but they had to go and be dishonest. Some of that spritework is a decade old
>sequel >same sprites just new characters
At least it has rollback. But this isnt a sequel, its another version like EXE Late or the others. A sequel needs to be a different game. New sprites, new mechanics, etc.
>Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes >It's the same damn game

They're calling it UNI 2 because that's the only way they'll get any sales for patching in rollback and 3 new characters with a balance patch wouldn't have cut it like it did back in CLR. It's kind of the worst of both worlds because it's not actually a new game with really different characters or mechanics to play with and it's not just minor patch with rollback so once again certain charcters will get way better buffs than others making the balance worse AND you have to pay for a whole new game
I'm not even upset about it since there is a good reason to be invested in a fighting game selling well. Plus I'm bad and hopelessly outplayed by the current crowd that still sticks with this game so I'm hoping I might actually have a shot at competing in locals if the game grabs a lot of new players.
There's new mechanics though?
And a shitton of changes to the point that entire upper level mindgames with OS' are changed.
Ah, who am I kidding, you homies don't play this game to care.
Oh and the real secret as to why it's the sequel is because the story is actually moving forward.
UNI's sprites look fine, I don't know why people want them all redrawn so much. If the looks blatantly clashes with the new moves and character sprites however I could understand. But we do seriously need more than just 3 new characters.
The initial reason they didn't make Melty HD was because they thought they'd run out of money mid-development. And how increasing the resolution had a whole load of problems associated with it. They were absolutely not going to be able to maintain that sprite quality in the HD era.
I think they really want to show off the new art so having full portraits show up on the screen was the priority.
I honestly think they just need to do something about the grey in the middle and maybe adjust the size of the portraits but once again, they want to emphasize the full art.
Yeah I get what they're going for, but for me nothing beats a well Stylized Menu system. A lot of games honestly stand out to me years down the line for just how flashy and cool they looked on the UI alone.
Maybe the fact that they're designing a game for consoles first instead of the arcades-first resolution made it feel like it was okay to try and go for a lighter touch this time around.
Soulless ass character select screen.
They could've at least done a little U shape of all characters like how P4A did, it would look a little less generic. Also not a fan of how much the art clashes with the sprites now. The old key art and even the story portraits used for characters had a stronger marriage between the sprite and the character art. Don't really get this anymore when its clear the artist has been in the gym for the past 10 years and has improved, where the sprite work has stayed the same. The bulk of my autism comes from the fact that its a "II" in name, but its another balance patch in action, especially when the story still takes place in the same fricking night and has been this way for a decade. I couldn't imagine waiting 3-4 Blazblue games to finally see Ragna get to the end of Calamity Trigger.
>especially when the story still takes place in the same fricking night and has been this way for a decade.
It's a new fricking story though that much is confirmed. The win quotes already tell us that it's after the first big night.
How much difference does it need for you to consider it a different game?
Not be the same game with 3 new characters. No point in calling it 2 then.

>what is Street Fighter Alpha series
>what is Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter
>what is Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Orie gets upgraded by a cup size
>female characters dressed up like Muslims
pass, would rather play a superior series
>female characters dressed up like Muslims
I'm a Muslim now.
Mashallah
>posts the shittiest bb girl
And that's a good thing.
I'll pick it up since I like French Bread but I'm not gonna enjoy playing it.
>Hyde has to come home every day to this
How does the boy concentrate?
so is Mahvel 3 the only big FG left that doesn't have/will be getting rollback at this point?
and USF4 but from what I heard supposedly people are working on a fan patch to make UMVC2 rollback a thing
*3
Im just happy to see him again

What the frick is going on with that word salad title? Sounds like Elon Musk's child's name.
It's in the same vein of Tsukihime/Melty Blood that throws a lot of vaguely connected Engrish words together that sound cool to Japs.
Is that photo of sion kissing ries real?
lobby where
I would be willing to host, but I'm in EU and everyone is prob asleep

as resolution increases, sprites get worse
I'm betting UNI2 will be getting at least 1 or 2 more revision updates.
MBTLs sprites are fine but unimpressive
They don't have the flow that old melty did

>move = overhead (false) ;
hmm...
>move = overhead (true) ;
that will be 60 dollars plus tip, enjoy your sequel
where is the katana b***h?
Third from the right on top
This is a very minor nitpick but I honestly like the older Select Screen. This one feels a bit too flat honestly.
