So if you want to get the most "eldritch" lore shit you should go all in on Intelligence and Will right? Well that's what I did and it's working out okay so far.
You can theoraticaly access that lore with a normal character. You need the All-In and a Tchortist noble robe or play on Domination, get the Beyond Cold Perk and freeze yourself with a cryo pistol to get to 7 Will. You also need something like 80 points in every school of magic to get the mainframe lore, but i only had TM. I did this on my 18 Dex/ 3 Will character and it was painful.
>You also need something like 80 points in every school of magic to get the mainframe lore
You need 85 effective to access any of them. Pic related allows you to do it for free, although the skill boost varies since it's a random item.
yeah... it'd be nice for depot A too, but with con 3 i'm not sure i'll ever get to actually use it instead of just dying. maybe i'll just get expose weakness now and postpone EA.
The unique gloves and knives are actually pretty good, but you want crafting for that infused leather.
You need 5 INT for cheap shots anyway, so no reason not to go heavily into crafting.
They unlock some meme options.
Intimidation is useful if you use the Yell feat since it scales with it.
Barter skill is generally more useful if you go heavy into crafting as it unlocks some better trader stock.
I don't understand people who don't level up Persuasion. Even on Dominating it has its uses. I've skiped so many bullshit fights with it. Tough more than 60 base Persuasion is overkill and not worth it.
I take grenadier perk on almost every build. One of the best utility items.
If you combine it with throwing knives/shock shurkiens it would totally be a Dominating-viable.
In theory yes but you need a special type of build.
You need to have 7 base agility and join the Grim Jetters for Improved Naval Combat.
You need to have 70 base Melee skill and join the Grim Jetters for Naval Jousting and Jet and Jab.
You need 9 effective INT for Philosophy III, this means you need to have 7 base INT and take the Hypercerebrix drug before talking to the Ferryman.
For Body Horror just don't do the Will check in the Lemurian Health Center.
For Outer Visions you need 6 effective Will and 80 effective points in one psi school, this means you can get it with 3 base Will and 70 TM with the All-In food.
You need to find Leo's knife in DC and have 150 effective persuasion for the most powerful version of Echoing Soliloquy
For Shoemaker, have 60 tailoring and play during the week of St. Patricks day.
Beyond Cold ist hardest to get, since you have to play on Dom and get the Ice Tower dungeon. If you get a message from Goran at the beginning of the game about an ice monster then you got the right RNG. After this just complete the dungeon.
Fine Tuned, Fisherman, Hunter, Psi Empathy, Naval Combat, Motioner are quest Feats and don't require anything special.
You can get Tattoos from Both in Core City. Just delete the gypsy file to force spawn him.
Forceful Intervention is for legacy characters and impossible to get on a new version. Just load a save with a character from the pre psi nerf patch. Be advised, you will be severly handicaped.
Monstrous Yell and Cohesive Mucus Glands are mutant exclusive.
>It will take you an entire playthrough to sell even half of that

I like having a lot of money even if I won't use most of it. I bought everything except drapes for my house, which costed about 30-40k charons and at the moment I have 45k left (I haven't sold my current loot yet). It's one of the worst feats in the game. Even the crafting feats are pretty useless since the bonus they offer is minimal. The only good ones are Skinner and Chem Expert for Chem builds. You should only take offensive or defensive feats.

But if you specialize you can eventually disassemble them flawlessly! Such joy! Frick, this game is designed terribly.
Can't post images, range banned. Here is the build:

Early on I relied a lot on grenades until I had Bullet time and a rapid hammerer. By level 20 with max bullet I could kill everything in a single turn, or two using stasis. Honestly, I'm not so sure fatal throw was worth it, and I got execute because I got Opportunist for the Wasteland Hawk, since it stuns your target and dazes everyone around you.
I tried doing Apogee, it was sort of like this, except I ran up to the guys constantly through Hit and Run, mind that this video was before a Bullet Time nerf where the Gunslinger reduction applied after the bullet time one, that's why he gets 4 AP per shot
You could try speccing into versatility instead of fatal throw and hit and run, you'll get way more damage that way.

That seems to be before the w2c ammo nerf too.
I'm wondering where the bonus crit damage comes from though, last I remember it was pretty shit on firearms.

Well, maybe I oversold the builds' damage a bit. I did get consistent 600+ damage crits on natives with no armor but against most enemies it's closer to 400. Still, functionally it's the same to deal a 400 crit or a 600 one on an enemy with 350 HP.
>why do people like a game???
tell me anon, is there no game that you just love and play over and over? this game has a lot to love and a lot of variety
Underrail has a charm not many other games on the market have. I don't know how to describe it. Optimizing your build to achieve max potential and taking the numerous variables and scenarios into account is extremely fun, for me at least. You do need a certain level of autism to get into the game.
>unarmed scales with strength >PK has a feat that scales with strength >optimized PK Monk builds usually use strength as a dump stat because dexterity still comes out ahead and hybrids don't have the points for both
This triggers my autism like you wouldn't believe.

I meant that you can't actually follow that build in game, as only 1 feat from the the build can be taken on character creation - all the rest have additional requirements, so you'd have to take some other feat on CC instead.

Anonymous
well gee buddy, maybe you could use the free feat slot for that one
I think it's completely justified. You might want to make a melee glass cannon with 16 str but 3 con. Tough I think con needs to add some other bonuses then just more hp. The feats are the only thing that make it worth investing. I don't think I ever used a build with more than 8 con ever.
I think it's the difference between strength training and resistance training. A high STR character can lift a boulder, a high CON one can run a marathon no problem
>try a pure dex unarmed only build >end up using Mordre's knife for half the game just like every other time I try a melee build
i have no self control
not a special knife per se, but he has quality 120+ gear and is guaranteed to have a knife, a ballistic vest coat, energy shield, and sniper + SMG. the knife has no minimum stat reqs to wield, so even if you kill him at level 2 you can use the knife he drops immediately to trivialize much of the early game.
I bet my little sister 100$ if she could finish the game on hard. Honestly just excited for her to ask me questions on what to do, just hoping she doesn't get bored and give up on the game.

You mean the entrance door to the facility in the drop zone? You'll be able to unlock it during the Oligarchy questline or you can do Phreak's questline to bypass that.
Drones, if you like blowing shit up and being a sneaky c**t. They have a general goods merchant with an orientation towards stuff that benefits whatever I said in the first sentence. He also sells nailbombs. Drones feel like a cozy, close-knit group of people who care about each other if that's worth anything to you.
Protectorate, if you like "accidentally" committing "collateral damage" and gassing megabytes of character data. Their merchant will make your blood boil because he is an insufferable homosexual who thinks northerners are gods in comparison to everyone else. That aside, he mostly sells combat stuff like armor, firearms, grenades, helmets, boots and components for them. He also sells gun lube.
The choice depends on what you want and your build.
>Their merchant will make your blood boil because he is an insufferable homosexual who thinks northerners are gods in comparison to everyone else.
His is objectively correct. Southerners are the Black folk of Underrail.
Both Protectorate and FD shops are quite lame though.
>Protectorate shop >lame
Lmao Fraser is the 2nd best trader in the game for gun/armor components after Hanna, his stuff can be over 160 and he sells a lot of it so you don't have to wait forever to get it. Frames, kevlar, vests, armor and metal plates, boot springs, etc. Lube is a non-negligible damage increase for guns and you can't get it anywhere else. Not to mention he sells a lot of w2c ammo each refresh and he's a good place to spend usd.

At first yes. But Southern Underrail is a shithole compared to the north. It's like the Africa of Underrail so I think his smug sense of superiority is somewhat justifide. But when you prove yourself at the end of the questline, he actually begins to respect you and, from what I remember, he even salutes you when he sees your gas bill.
Protectorate is in my opinion the superior questline.
To be allowed to join the FD you have to intentionally fail a quest. Mind you, they want steal a train full of arms shipments when RC is under attack by the Faceless. So they already have no moral high-ground. Not only that but without the wiki you would never know that failing this quest that has nothing to do with the Protectorate directly will block you out of the FD questchain. Persuasion dosen't work here either.
They have one of the best traders in the game whit access to equipment rarely found outside their shop.
Quests are overall better and more fun.
One of the quests lets you drive a Dreadnought.
You get to completely wipe out the FD base of the map. Not just an outpost.
You get access to the mutant questline as an added bonus.
>You get access to the mutant questline as an added bonus.
Don't need to join protectorate for that anymore. There's a container with the gas next to D6 cans at the bunker, you can break it to mutate if you want to.
>You get access to the mutant questline as an added bonus.

you can become a mutant and end up in depot a after breaking a wall.
it is absolutely insane how powerful crossbows are. been playing on DOMINATING and while I have a whopping two abilities, aimed shot and special tactics, it completely shits on everything the game throws at you. genociding the natives has never been so easy. robots are a joke with shock bolts and laser pistol. I cannot be fricking stopped
yes they are fricking pussies. i can CC/outrun them, and my finely crafted laser pistol aimed shot does 75% of their health. it's actually pretty braindead, but the damage impresses me endlessly. i thought popping out of stealth with a sniper and shooting spree was an effective way to clear a room, but the crossbow does it better and silently.

Post your build, I'm feeling cute might steal it later I dunno.
this is my build as it is currently. I started with 10 INT and by level ~16 i had crafted the best shit in the game since i rushed oculous and JKK for the benches. leaves you with a lot of extra points for whatever else you might want. could be min-max autismo'd even harder, but i have had a cakewalk of a DOM run.
18 Perception is overkill. Not to mention it's the worst stat IMO since you can raise it trough buffs. Pick Versatility only if you go full 18 DEX laser/chem pistol/SMG build. Don't really recommend you go 18 DEX on a melee build, since you can get extra damage from STR and not DEX. Otherwise, it's really not worth it.
but muh damage. I took versatility only for using a laser pistol as an answer to bots. it was a massive help, but later in the game constant mk3 shock bolt crits ended up the more effective bot killer
Why 10 INT? On a normal build, you don't need more than 7 INT. The only times you should go for 10 is with a high technicalities build (which is useless considering the ludicrous damage of laser pistols) or a psi build (tough 8 is more than enough for a psi build).
5 AGL? Go for 7 for the extra stealth and feats. You can take the points from INT and put it into AGL. Put the remaining point into DEX.
75 hacking and 90 lockpick? The highest hacking/lockpick check in the game is 130. You don't need more than 60 base hacking and 50 base lockpicking since there are a ton of buffs that increase their value like the Huxkey, Lemurian Engineer Suit, Jackknife, Hypercerebrix, under pie and SGS tattoo.
80 Mercantile is also too high. 105 is the effective value you should strive for. The 140 Mercantile is just for some extra money at the end of Expedition, but by then, you will swim in money.
0 Throwing and 0 Traps: Invest ASAP at least 50 points into trowing and take Grenadier, or you'll be in a world of pain. Traps as well. Put like 80 or 100 points into traps. If you don't put anything into them, you might as well restart and reroll a different build.
18 PER is awful. PER is the easiest base stat to buff with drugs and food. Also, why no Scrutinous? If you're going to invest in it, you might as well take that feat.
Quick Pockets is completely useless. Only first time players take that feat.
Don't take Versatility unless you're making a hybrid build. It completely changes the way you play the game. Best builds that use Versatility are chem pistols, normal pistol, SMG and trowing builds.
as i stated, it could be better, but there was simply no need to min max it any harder. i've genocided with ease everything in the game on dominating, and i don't think i used any traps except when killing magnar and the beast. i wanted to rely solely on my crossbow and craft the best shit in the game as early as possible, which I did. other than using versatility for the laser pistol, my elemental bolts tore through everything the game had. all i was focused on was making the crossbow hit as hard as possible. this was without a doubt the easiest playthrough i've done, even easier than MT warcrimes.

>i've genocided with ease everything in the game on dominating >No traps, no nades, 10 INT
Highly doubt it. Unless you save scummed at least 10 times every encounter, you have no chance with that build on DOM. At best, you can defeat Tchort on normal with that build.

have you ever even tried elemental bolts? killing the natives was hilariously easy. fire a shock bolt mk3 into a group and watch the crit deal 1200+ to all nearby enemies and kill them outright. the pirates were a joke too. the fact it's a silent weapon also makes the killing easier, since you may not pull the whole map and can restealth. not to mention the crutch 3 will TM dip.

>Elemental bolts
And what do you do until level 13 when you can get Elemental Bolts? Laser pistols are extremely rare pre Core City. I think I only saw one in the burrower den in GMS before I found the drill parts. You didn't put anything into traps or grenades, which pretty much confirms me you didn't even play the game. Traps are essential to a crossbow build.

NTA but I had like 3, a recipe, and enough components to make another 4 (Catherine sells frames and emitters post, she and Ezra both sell cores). the feats are not really in order either, of course, but yeah, i took quick pockets mostly for the utility slot. if you ever need to trap, regular bear traps work just fine and you don't need any skill points for that. the sooner you start using shock and incendiary bolts, the easier the game will be.

a knifer with stealth is fine
an xbowgay with stealth and traps might be pushing it a tad, but I think its okay
nades are okay
a psi school is okay
guns are okay, burst guns are OP no matter what
but when you have 3+, its like playing on an easier difficulty
hell Id argue the doctors pouch counts as one
doctors pouch is indeed borderline, but luckily there's *just* enough variety in belts that many builds have a specific belt they want. if your weapon doesn't rely on a belt, doctor's is the go-to, but there's enough specialized belts that i think it's okay. it would be nice if some of the other belts were better so doctor belt isn't the go-to, though.

there's no consequences if you're already aligned with the grim jetters. plus, you need to do it anyway to truly beat the game. the game's not over until you've genocided every single faction and city and are alone in south underrail barring respawning critters.
watch a full let's play because the game is too hard for any sane player to not follow a wiki
pick a build most upvoted on reddit to be good for a new player
dont even think about anything for yourself or read any in-game explanations, just let other people tell you exactly where to put every skill point and exactly what feats to get and when to get them
definitely don't just play the game yourself 🙂
Test a build out and see what happens. The external builder let's you see the feats avaible and their spec points >start at normal or easy and see what works
At least focus on 1-2 attack skills but max out 1, psi also counts but it could be left at 70-90 if you want to see what abilities do or max if main damage. >Use stealth early, and granades if you don't have AOE abilitys or a way to stun bots
Maybe you can still beat it if you did it completed the drill quest. You only need to kill tchort and have six suggest to go to the North you can take any train I believe.
>haven't played a build for all weapon types, missing chem pistols and maybe another one I can't recall >extremely burnt out on the game, everything is too easy and repetitive but also tedious and time consuming >pouring so much time into Underrail has made me realize how shit its pacing can be
It's actually incredible how the game is most fun between 12-24 in the base game, then it immediately becomes mediocre once you enter Expedition/DC. I haven't even finished DC a single time from how boring it is, I always drop the game early in Expedition.
I hope Infusion is a tighter experience with a relatively small yet still open world, spiced with a good amount of high quality content. With how replayable Underrail can be, it's best to not stretch the campaign out so you can still reasonably do all content with a build without going into the 100 hour territory. Cut down on the walking and empty zones, etc. Also, more music puzzles, I really enjoyed them.
I find early game to be the most fun, and expedition to be better than the base game in general. After 14th the game is "easy" and keeps getting easier until you're just going through the motions by the early 20s. The base game has no real difficulty after the midgame; only expedition puts you in some crunch spots.
>knife crit with mental manipulation build >everything goes p smooth till expedition with the fricking nagas
im fricking mad, i wanted to get escape artist but it seems that i really need expose weakness, no good energy edge emitter drops either, my electric serrated knife does more damage than the plasma one because i cant get the stupid emitter with a quality over fricking 50 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Melee build without Expose Weakness >Ever
There so many people that are seemingly allergic to EW and I have no fricking idea why,
They always say 'Muh CD' but the fact you can murder an armored enemy on demand is too good to pass
If you were on Dom the suicide belt would of been a clutch in these scenarios.
Other than that what this guy said
You can use the kukri for a half as effective EW effect. Better than nothing and can be spammed without cooldown.
Going for the torch can be useful if you want to save on repair kits takes awhile though. Going straight to the nightmare dungeon by the pirates can get you a decent emitter by just killing the bots. You can also just sneak till you get the place that magnets the area free kills and attempts.
taking a real vacation. drove for 12 hours and am enjoying time away from the computer. still gotta check this thread for my fellow UnderrailCHADs. when I get back I vow to finish my hammer wizard playthrough. was following a recommendation from a hamwiz chad here but stopped around level 12 killing burrowers in camp Hathor. that's definitely around the peak of the game, but I find burrowers so tedious that I went back to playing another character. thanks for reading my blogpost
can't remember the specifics, but hammer wizard is pure tungsten tank with a sledge and PK. make sure to take expose weakness. I'm sure the resident hamwizCHAD that graces these hallowed halls can provide more insight
Was close to finishing up my first Expedition playthrough as a sneky crossbow chad when a hassle-free $0 release of Daggerfall came out on GoG a few days ago. Now I'm going autismo on that.
How is a hammer wizard meant to handle mid-game? The tungsten available is too shit-tier to make armour worth the mobility hit, rushing killing the beast early for high-quality tungsten is pointless since you can't craft with it, psi and melee are weak.
IDK, it was an okay build at first but now it's just a drag to play, which is a shame because I was looking forward to taking zero damage from anything.
well, I wear a good beetle tacvest with kevlar balaclava and tabis until I can craft a good tungsten regen set
psi is not weak; you can often 1hko enemies with a tk punch
melee is alright; with your str and a good spiked tungsten hammer you can stun or immobilize an enemy and kill em before they get out
multiple enemies can suck, and psi enemies suck, but at least you're tough as shit
a good tacvest/shield can frick burrowers
rats are no problem
frogs can be tough but you only fight one or two at a time and can often position for just one at a time
beetles are tricky, but you always have grenades
bullets are no problem except snipers really
mutants can be hard to deal with, but with a good mutated dog set you are basically immune to their acid
anyway, q80ish tungsten is alright
The QoL aspect is enough for it to be an auto-include for me in general, this feature is just icing on the cake. You also count as out of combat if you manage to Incapacitate (not stun) everything you're in combat with, so you can get a heal in during other encounters as well.
True, I'm very glad you showed me real useful aspects of Doctor, because I always liked that feat, from the very start of the game, but as I got more efficient I couldnt bring myself to add it to my builds since I had no real reason to do it
>respec
literally for what purpose? that eliminates the replayability of the game. what point would there be in respeccing if many quests are completed and non-respawning enemies are dead?
Guessing from carnifex and the general bullshit psionics can do, probably punch wizard. I think thought control is lorewise the strongest, though it's not your best option mechanically
Lorewise, Real Thought Control Psihomies dunk on everyone in real power and consequences of their actions, while Real Metathermics Psihomies are walking calamities in terms of destructive capabilities.
Mechanics-wise, it's either a sniper or an assault rifle build with Temporal Manipulation, like these anons
Sniper with Temporal Manipulation and Thought Control
stealth TM AR
said.
Guessing from carnifex and the general bullshit psionics can do, probably punch wizard. I think thought control is lorewise the strongest, though it's not your best option mechanically
Carnifex was the Invictus, i.e. a guy who's best at 1v1 deathmatch in controlled conditions, in Core City, for a time. Meanwhile Anton and Kirill are half the reasons the entire Underrail is what it is.
If Underrail setting would be real, in regards of psi, PK and MT would be more easily accepted whereas TC and TM would be forbidden and most likely prohibited
Telekinesis, Electrokinesis, Pyrokinesis and Cryokinesis, while strong and dangerours in the mind of the wrong people, these psi disciplines would be considered 'forces of nature' or 'forces of physics', aka the manipulation of the natural world, akin to Avatar. I can imagine an irl world where PKers and MTers are, while regulated and controlled by the state, mostly accepted and integrated normal human society.
TC and TM however, are intrinsically evil and insidious, because they manipulate the human mind, and the very fabric of reality and time-space, TCers can easily kill or manipulate people without anybody noticing, nor how anybody would be able to retain or control a strong TMer, and God help humanity if theres a very strong but evil TC and TM psi user
Specifically, it's Sniper with Metathermics. Prenerf there are mobs snipers wouldnt be able to oneshot unless Cryogenic Induction is used. With AP ammo nerfed from 65% piercing to 30% that list has been increased further.
Isn't that some shit, finally the strengthlets get some free extra carry weigh capacity without level 1 picking up pack rathound. God thats such a good QoL item, blessed.
Don't think he mentioned anything about that no. And he's done with major updates or big content ones, smaller stuff isn't difficult to do for them, especially with their experience.

please tell me you dont have to do that god awful puzzle to get this thing. also, there should have been a buzz-saw type sledgehammer that has a multi-hit special ability.

I can see Taste for Blood minmaxers throwing a nail grenade, then using the Chainsword for max stacks. Afterwards you can swap to your main weapon.

Probably better off with a knife in the offhand if you want to do that. Shiv is only 7 base AP so it works even if your dexterity is shit.

nail bomb + any knife will build it up in just a few hits
chain sword will build it up on its own real fast as long as you have some source, like serrated armor

An item doesn't need to be the single absolute most bestest option in it's niche in order to be good.

I wasn't saying that.
Have you ever even used swords?
Anything under a 95% hit chance is a pain in the arse to use.
I'd say it's probably worst-in-class for anything other than its special ability on the basis of its damage, weight, AP cost, low accuracy, lack of customization options, being electronic and its strength requirement.
Look at the stats, moron.

Flurry is not the only way to play sword. Just stop building a siphoner man, drop the constant SI activation and get some survivability so that you don't fold in like a wet paper figurine if moment you have to spend a turn in combat without every enemy stunned, feared or incapacitated.
It's a chainsword, chainswords are for bulky-ass spacemarines in massive armors.

I play swords with super steel armour and low crit chance, I'm well acquainted with tin can melee.
Flurry or no flurry, armour or no armour it's still not a good sword either way, again with the exception of the special ability.
Of course, it's good for RP purposes, but that's a different question.

>Flurry or no flurry, armour or no armour it's still not a good sword either way, again with the exception of the special ability.
I just think that WITH it's special ability considered, it's quite good enough midgame (which is when you can acquire it) weapon. It's more effective to offhand it and use it only for the Chainsaw, but it would not be meaningfully harder to go through midgame even without switching to a crafted sword for regular attacks - especially if you choose to dump Mechanics and use those points elsewhere.

8 strength requirement screams tincan. I don't really see it as an option (even as a sidearm) unless you wear metal armour.

Looks like the area just past the shock room with the 3 deathstalkers and an industrial bot (DOMI). Seems like an extra room was added.
Anonymous
yeah
that room was always there but it got expanded i think
Some info about the special ability of Chainsword
It has no cooldown, works with all on-hit effects like fancy footwork and uses up all ap you have up to max 50.
If you have more than 50ap you still have 10 ap remaining for another chainsaw attack
if you dont have enough energy for further hits, the attack stops and you don't lose more ap
Yeah, makes sense, it would be far too broken otherwise. How's the damage though? Is it really worth the up to 50 AP cost? I guess you could try it on a naga or an industrial bot.
damage is same as on the image above in the thread.
you can try playing with the gimmick: if you only use small batteries, the attacks costs 15 ap and then you can recharge with another small battery, so on
also you can do this:
one main attack 50 ap
one from blitz
one from expert sprint
one from adrenaline
one from contraction
i do not have machete character to try it out seriously so i cannot tell how it compares to other options though
decided to check the vault for the boots to rule it out
they arent there, but I went ahead and made a list of whats behind the ability checks
agility check - q100+ regen, sturdy, aluminium, black, psi crit thing, 1 aegis vial, four decent plasma cores
dex checks - q100+ electronic/psi components, a laser pistol
str - q100+ weapon components, anti-rifle plate, kevlar, tungsten plate, several toxic sludges
i swear i have to reload the final part of gorsky's quest way more than I should. >shock hammer zone rat smacks Black folk right next to allies >doesn't zap them >i use shock weapons or Electrokinesis >aggro all allies
so god damn annoying
What do you think about this POS build, fellow pipeworkers?
The idea is focusing on stealth and mobility while using caltrops and bear traps out the ass and Fearing/Enraging opponents, and deal damage with a spear. Poison on EVERYTHING, including the spear. For survivability, I'll depend on hiding behind corners and exploiting chokepoints, a crafted Tac Vest/Riot Gear depending on opposition, (looted, so yeah mediocre) shields, Pseudo-Spatial Projecion and LoC. Maybe sometimes use Predation for fun.
Stealth, caltrops, bear traps and bought grenades should get me through Depot A.
Some mechanics and electronics should get me good enough spears to last until The Glaive, and then until the Lemurian Spear.
Am I a moron period for taking Spear Throw for poisoned javelins without really committing to Throwing? Maybe getting rid of Javeling throw, dump Dex and get Opportunist or something?
I really dig the aesthetics I'm getting from the build so far tho.
Cut either Agi or Will, if you have 10 as your highest stat at level 20 its because you want to do everything. Take this base and add to it.
https://underrail.info/build/?HhAGAwMDAwYAwqAAwqAAAMKgAAAyAGRAC1VgAAAARgAAXysxJsKVFhLClCoGS8KHAOKdjQXip74F4rOiA9-_
Core: >Max or at least one point off max STR (Dex throw is advanced and scales only in endgame due to math) >6 Dex because you need Cheap Shots >5 Int, Cheap Shots + Expose Weakness. 6 for Premed and Weaponsmith is also good.
Also take Critical Power, and Recklessness.
3/3 AP cost reduction on Spear Throw = 16 AP. That means two 17 AP attack and one Spear Throw with 50 AP.
This is what it takes to make your spear itself not dogshit. You have 6 points to mess around. >Agi = Sprint/Sweep >Con = Survival Instincts or Juggernaut HP soak with metal armor >Will = Add decent spells (cut 1 STR for Locus of Control)
You are also 1 point off Armor Sloping for Nimble Can. 1 point off Three-Pointer/Quick Tinkering/Escape Artist. Feel free to cut Opportunist if you have a better level 1 feat.
You should be one shotting anything you could poison. You only make 2-5 attacks per round tops for Fancy Footwork. Leather > Tac/Riot. Tabis, drifter tattoo, Rathound King armor, and feat boosted temporal acceleration means you don't need Agi to have cromulent movespeed. You can "have it all" by not literally having it all.
Eeeeh, my issue with this recommendation is that it's a straight up completely different build.
Also >Cheap Shots >Critical Power >Recklessness >on the second least critty weapon type after sledgehammers
Why even bother with spear at this point?
>You should be one shotting anything you could poison
1. So Cheap Shots are just for extra crit damage?
2. If we max STR and crits - yeah, but that's a completely different playstyle. >You only make 2-5 attacks per round tops for Fancy Footwork.
Fair point. I really should drop that, and this shaves 1 point off Agi.
> Leather > Tac/Riot
Just for crit from Infused Rathound? Because that's a hige cost for survivability against firearms that Tac would give. >You can "have it all" by not literally having it all.
That was never the goal. The point was >Spear >Stealth >Spooky >Spoisonous
Keeping it short: without weaponsmith or crit armor, +10 Cheap Shots + Crit Power + Bison milk has 4.5x damage on a crit, and 36% crit. That's 71% of your damage as crits with a Tichrome spear. Styg's changing crits next game for a reason.
Rathound King armor is the mobility +1 Str armor you can get at the start of the game. Tac vests protect you from small arms guns, but not psi, melee, energy, chems, or snipers. Line of sighting the enemy does.
The only way to emphasize poison, which is slow, and better for stunning is to DE-emphazise your damage. Most people don't have the balls to do that. With low damage the game will be pressuring you into chucking more nades, that's either fine, or another thing to take away emphasis on what you really want.
So just play the game well, and make the build you want. People have already won at level 3. All the best tools, and tactics aren't on the level up screen.

I know. But if I wanted to make a crit build with TM I'd make a crit build with TM, it's not that hard duh.
>Tac vests protect you from small arms guns
I had the impression that this would be the biggest threat anyhow. I'll have spear guard for melee.
>The only way to emphasize poison, which is slow, and better for stunning
This is exactly how I plan to use it - Crawler poison for control, Cave ear + Burrower if I don't need control for some reason (like if I can fear/rage enough targets).
>With low damage
Eh, I already played with Hypertoxicity and the damage on stacked poisons is not low at all. It's enough, the only issue is robots - but I'll have Expose Weakness and a shock spear for that.
I still don't know if thrown spears are worth a weak investment in Throwing, tho - should I lose some crafting to get more Throwing, or just get rid of it completely, dump Dex and put it all into Str/Int?
I've done a spear and shield build and it cucks melee guys >spear guardian also cucks quite a bit of melee enemies with its 100% block chance
I don't see a reason to go full into crit chance when impale is a guaranteed crit. You get enough stuns and do enough damage with spears it not particularly necessary.

Predation with spear throw does decent damage to enemies if your high into TC for the debuff damage scaling. Best for bosses tbh, I believe someone prob done one with quick pockets for a javelin type build with MT as well though
>Predation with spear throw does decent damage to enemies if your high into TC for the debuff damage scaling.
Thanks! Predation is way cool as a power, and I was so used to everyone shitting on it that I just expected it to be completely useless. I sill haven't started the playthrough, as I still don't know if I should keep or drop the Dex and Throwing.

well duh. in that pic i am only level 12 wearing some crap tungsten i bought from Len. it doesn't even have a vest. need to get my bio and tailoring up to use a regen vest. also, i am a 10 CON shotgunner, of course.
Sick of putting 2 points in Intelligence for Expose Weakness for most of my melee builds (especially unarmed/fists). Can 2 extra points in STR eventually make up for no Expose Weakness? Would be nice to save a few stat points and a feat for once.
you are just fricking yourself vs indust bots/naga/tin cans for no reason
Expose Weakness is absolutely necessary. If you have high Dex you could maybe use the Kukri as a weaker EW instead, but it will make industrial bots and all the expedition robots a pain in the ass to fight.
Unarmed/fists are especially weak without EW as they have a 140% mech resist/threshold penalty.

I suggest taking it, but its not necessary. Between the kukri, the blast caps, emitters, and various kinds of damage stacking (like combo/pneumo with fists) you can handle anything. Hell, you can kill nagas with their own blasts if you have high evasion and/or blast equipment. If it comes down to it you can lob purple acid.
That's *the* hammer guide. Don't know why it's hosted there though, see https://stygiansoftware.com/forums/index.php?topic=5358.0
If you're literally starting the game I would suggest this build though:
https://stygiansoftware.com/forums/index.php?topic=6057.0
i've literally never played this game before, i ain't new to CRPGS with the Pathfinder games but i am stupid as frick so any general things i should know or routes i should take would be much appricated
not him but the game for melee is very punishing. people recommend you don't melee the first run for a reason and thats to understand how the mechanics of things like grenades/utility slot items and the AI of monsters and how they are different/alike
Hammers are specifically discouraging for new players because of their high AP cost without much return, every other melee weapon offers an array of abilites with their weapon type and sledgehammer is the weapon without a lot of feats, thus this is why you are dipping into PSI.
Anonymous
>thus this is why you are dipping into PSI.
Untrue, I made this build with PK because of it's lack of mobility, tin can AR works because despite being completely brainless you can also kill everything with burst from in distance
Hammer Wizard is also a tungsten tank but he has no range options, this is where Psychokinesis comes, or rather, Telekinesis, giving HW an option to Crowd Control and hitting enemies from distance (Proxy Punch), for being exclusively melee but not being able to catch up enemies that can easily burn you down is extremely obnoxious
I contrast this with my psiless agile berserker, homie hits hard, is fairly tanky but in contrast with tin cans, can actually move well, dodge, evade and use stealth, you dont need psi when you got mobility on your side.
Dummy.
>Try sword and board build >Get filtered at Depot >Try Sniper build >Get filtered at Depot >Try assault rifle build >Filtered at Depot
Why this game hates fun so much?
Thats what you get for not being a hammerchad
But seriously how the frick did you got filtered with a fricking AR build.
You say 'no fun allowed' but it sounds like you dont apply yourself.
Honestly I'd say a good chunk of this game are trial and error, just get to in and start smashing
But if I had to give you guidelines
try to get 10 CON and 7 WILL at the start of the game, take Conditioning and Stoicism as your 2 level 1 feats, have 5 INT for Expose Weakness and then every level pump STR to the max
Your skills you should level up without exception are Melee, Psychokinesis and Intimidation, and most important crafting skills are Mechanics, Electronics, followed by Tailoring and Biology
You should be always eat STR food, Rathound Barbecue
Make sure to eventually get Corporal Projection and Force User, obviously get psi empathy
Make sure to buy yourself a sledgehammer from the SGS vendor
Start in Normal difficulty and Oddity, you will be fine
Also ignore the other Black person, hammer wizard is the second most newbie friendly build in the game, the first one being tin can assault rifle
Tungsten Tin Can AR Burst baby here. I more or less have my whole build planned out I wanna know which of the 2 out of 3 feats I should choose (Fight Response, Iron Will, and Last Stand) as my final picks. Alternatively I could drop Fast Metabolism and use a Sturdy Vest instead for a funny low health tank build, or Ambush if it's too finnicky to use with such a slow character (I'm told it's very consistent though). Playing on Hard if that matters.
>ambush and cans dont mix
The evasion reduction is pretty neat (especially considering you have only a modest investment in perception), seems relatively easy to proc too.
>really helps early on
Some rathounds aren't a threat and there's nothing a few molotovs can't deal with when it comes to psi beetles. >its a convenience later
Too situational.
noobies dont know how to abuse grenades early so aimed shot is nice for the first run.

its nice early on with the hammerer from lucas vs rats through fences to save ammo
also sometimes lets you 1hko "strong" enemies like ratula or beetles
later on if you go anatomical chimera, its nice to drop an enemy with a single round than waste several
however, the tincan I posted has neither persuasion nor will use a chimera so its fine not to take it
Is unlocking the passageway to the chainsword/abomination the end of Phreak's quest? First time doing it and it seems like there's nothing left to do after that
No cover, only line of sight breaking, which actually is the best way to play.
Yeah that's why I took Sprint. Depending on the playstyle it seems very strong because it allows you to LoS break way easier. Seems like running behind walls so the AI needs to come all the way to you and not have the AP to shoot, is more or less one of the main ranged tactics.
>Try sword and board build >Get filtered at Depot >Try Sniper build >Get filtered at Depot >Try assault rifle build >Filtered at Depot
Why this game hates fun so much?
You aren't playing the game properly. This is the big trap about build autism, your build decides how much you need to cheese the game, but if you don't know how to cheese (play) the game then you need to be literally invincible while one shotting all the enemies to progress.
Here's all I can do to help: >If you are playing Oddity, work your way up to 50 effective pickpocketing. (Money and Oddity XP). >Chemistry 20 / Biology 20 / Mechanics 10 / Tailoring 10 = Molotovs, Gas Grenades, Frag Grenades, High Explosive Grenades. Buy the blueprints, and rummage in toxic barrels to make gas nades. >Buy Flashbangs, Bear Traps, Caltrops, EMP Grenades, and Nets. >Buy a Taser blueprint from the tech vendor in South Gate, or Junkyard, and get just enough Electronics to build a shitty one (use the worst Electroshock Generator possible). >Buy Extract Humor / Plant blueprints, 45 Biology and keep ampules on you always. Turn all Adrenal Glands, Hearts, and Intestines into things that can make your own Adrenaline Shots, or better and later Focus Stims.
Make sure you have a 10 in your main stat, and pump it, but the issue isn't your character sheet. Keep out of LoS, stay fully stocked in all tools you need, and find alternate routes when they exist.
Never played this before or really any cRPGs before but can I have a terminator build where I just absorb bullets and just blow people up with a shotgun?
Shotgun Redpills >Full auto is the real damage (Tyranny, or Despot w/ max crit) >Semi auto is still necessary (Vindicator) >6p is the generalist ammo >20p is for pure unarmored >3p is only for the tankiest of robots >12p is shit >Short barrel >>> Long >Pellet Mayhem bad >Perfect Scattering horrendous >Leading Shot and Barrel Stare don't compete, use both >Max Sixth Shell's specialization >Don't need max Per, Leading Shot (with spec) + rerolling missed pellets means medium Per is powerful >Positioning matters >Don't use Crit Power, doesn't work with Fragmented Chaos >DO use Fragmented Chaos

Terminator = Tungsten Metal armor (9 Str req). Start with about 9 Per, 8 Str, and 4 Dex. Use your stat ups to meet requirements.
Just got to Core City as chemist pistol build. Where is a merchant that sells any chemical pistol components? Can't find any in merchant district and I'm not sure any other exist at this stage of the game (besides Fixer obv who is weak). I heard there should be Dirty Tom somewhere, but I can't find him.
abram in the upper area of the hardcore bar. you had to have done all his quests in junkyard though, and you need to do the following quests correctly to be invited to the oculous
for real though, why does there need to be such a massive difficulty spike so early when it comes to rescuing newton? the bugs are so fricking tanky and lately killing the ones outside has been far more difficult than the ones inside.
they can be dealt with, yeah, but of everything between 1-16, that is quite a major spike in difficulty so early. you'd be playing with prior knowledge on DOM, yet still those bugs are so early in the game that certain builds can really struggle. being forced to spend all your SGS bux on nades and bear traps at the start of the game is not good game design
I mean you shoudn't do DOM without prio knowledge anyway and they can be killed without much resources on hard and normal.
Maybe this is one of the cases where it's hard to see the difficulty once you know of all the efficient ways to counter certain enemies.
>The first 16 levels are the most fun
Whoever said anything about the first 16 levels, moron? I just dislike the linear shitfest with terrible quest design that is pre-Depot A.
How do you usually deal with newton? I always get molorovs and abuse the doors, even on zero throwing. Those bugs are just instant death on DOM so i generally don't see a better option
Newton is always such a slog.
>Those bugs are just instant death on DOM so i generally don't see a better option
Stop being a fricking 3 CONlet and you'd survive a turn, my tanks usually run Will so i get Stoicism, Conditioning and Thick Skull, or some agility to kite them.
I usually get 4 molotovs, the further beetle outside the warehouse I usually entangle, and face it 1vs1, if all of them come I throw molotov and pray they set ablaze, then I just kill them as fast as possible
Inside the warehouse, without stealth I try to slowly inch as much as possible before initiating combat mode and close the door, thenmurder the lone beetle
After I recover, I simply start turn mode, open the door, let the beetles spot me, walk back, close the door, repeat this a few times until 4-6 beetles bunch up, then open the door, throw molotov at the bunched up beetles, consume an adrenaline and close the door
Recover from fatigue, then repeat the process except this time I will not close the door after throwing the molotov, break LoS by walking a few tiles to the north, then fall back around the corner
The feared beetles should be far away, and the ones that did not fear are weak enough to be easily dispatched, then kill the feared beetles, after that the quest is easy
Similar thing you can do on GMS, let the sentry bots bunch up behind the door, then open the door and EMP them all
tl;dr: Door cheese is OP

So we are doing the exact same thing. When i said bugs are instant death it's more along the lines of accidentally fighting more than two. If they get to psi-punch you it's probably over, considering the level you deal with newton
2 years ago
Anonymous
>If they get to psi-punch you it's probably over
Unless you have thick skull, which I always get on level 2 on my tanks
But yeah I guess throwing that many beetles that early leads to cheesing
2 years ago
Anonymous
that's the root of the issue. one at a time, they aren't so bad. this quest would be much better designed with numerous young beetles and a couple "boss" regular bugs. then again, styg thinks it's funny to stack goliath beetles in rooms for no reason other than to troll
2 years ago
Anonymous
The funny thing that amount of beetles early on build be more manageable if we had more room to kite the beetles with
For example, once you murder all beetles at the entrance, you can easily handle the beetles near newton without any cheese, because you got a lot of space to kite around
So yeah the problem being, not just the density of beetles, but also having no room to kite
And yes Styg really loves his big beetles, it's absolutely painful
hypertoxicity poisen caltrops are my go too way of dealing with them. Then all it takes is even a lvl 1 granade to mop them up. >just hitting them once with cave ear makes it either a 60 or 90 damage poisen with full stacks
>playing on the literal artificial difficulty mode instead of just playing on Hard for a hard but fair challenge
We get it you're hardcore, there's no need to keep forcing yourself to suffer to just show off to internet strangers.
>hard but fair challenge
sorry but the game becomes boringly easy when you get to about 14 on hard. DOMINATING is the only way to provide a challenge, and depending on what you are running, can still be quite easy post level 16 or 18.
Have you considered that Hard is too easy? Do you also complain about people playing Nightmare Doom with respawning enemies, or character action games where max difficulty makes all attacks OHKO?
Tbh I'd prefer Dominating encounters without the modifiers. I'm fine with Hard for the most part because you're generally playing on the same level playing field as the enemies (except for the fact they have faster drug regen, which is bullshit).

I feel like crippling strike is useless as frick considering all it does is +50% damage on a single attack once per turn.
The -2 STR don't matter considering your opponent will be either dazed from your cheap shots, stunned from combo (or any other stun source) or dead within the same turn since it doesn't take much even on DOM.
Or am I missing something?
>can easily tank and wipe out the Gray Army base by myself >some pipeworkers in a warehouse nearly kill me
Why are Russians such pussies compared to South Underrail inhabitants?
in terms of hp, no
somebody with 18str should have plenty of meat points
however they would probably be fat and have shit endurance, get sick often, and just generally not be "hard" at all
Ideally they should both grant hp, but you should get less from con than you currently do, but if you had both str and con you'd get more than just con currently gives.
>Ideally they should both grant hp, but you should get less from con than you currently do, but if you had both str and con you'd get more than just con currently gives.
I'm perfectly okay with this.
Then merge CON and STR.
Also not a bad idea, but I'm not sure how to balance it while retaining the identity of the game's central char building mechanics.
even in rather simple RPG systems, having the body(CON) be separate from STR is always a thing. im against removing stats. there's no sense in merging STR and CON, because STR doesn't have anything to do with your health, stamina, resistances, etc.
Jumping back into Underrail, i want to do a hammer playhtrough.
Hammer wizzard or do i go the leather armor stealthevasion route?
What can i do to make the early game go smoothly?
hammer wizard
get corporeal projection and force user asap, use tk punch to kill tough enemies
forget being a "hammer" wizard early on; make a psi tacvest and use a spear until junkyard at least
try to get a kevlar balaclava asap, but also work on making a tk punch filter headband
newton warehouse might be tough because you wont have stealth, initiative, or very good throwing, but at least you'll have thick skull and a lot of hp
Based on this and some research i have decided on HW.
Base stat spread of 10 STR, 3 DEX, 3 AGI, 9 CON, 3 PER, 7 WILL, 5 INT.
Taking Stoicism and Conditioning as
Tac vest is useless vs beetles, usually when I go hammer wizard I rush Pig leather armor and Pig tabis, on top of getting Stoicisn and Conditioning as level 1 feats
Your version is more wizard than hammer while mine is more hammer than wizard, both are viable opener but by virtue of having 7 will but 3 agi, imo is better to open with the tanky hammergay set up than a powerful TKer, you need to survive the damage first, then return the favour with the same coin
makes a convincing point.
Regarding skills what should i focus on and to what extent (I last played before the expansion released).
Taking Melle,Mech,Bio,Tailor,PK,Intimidate and merc. Is throwing a waste? Should i bother with chem, electronics and persuade?
Throwing is not mandatory but it doesn't hurt to have 25 effective, but you can get by without it, your PK can mostly replace it
I usually get enough chem to craft napalm, then the next question is 'do you want mk5 frag grenades against the natives?'. Even in DOM, mk5 frag grenades will instantly delete any native, including skaeders.
But napalm can also suffice.
Electronics is a YES, you will still need a low low and high high efficient shields, a taser, an electroshock hammer, crafting with regen vest (also semi mandatory), crafting mk3 EMPs, psi headbands, etc
Persuasion is up to you, nice to have to avoid some fights but you can get by with 0 so long you dont mind fighting more or not getting easy/good endings on your quests
hammer wizard
get corporeal projection and force user asap, use tk punch to kill tough enemies
forget being a "hammer" wizard early on; make a psi tacvest and use a spear until junkyard at least
try to get a kevlar balaclava asap, but also work on making a tk punch filter headband

Forgot about that. Thanks. Also Tchort Noble Robe + Beyond Cold with a cryo-grenade + All-in can increase your Will form 3 to 8.
havent played since 2019, whats new
New areas, new quests (some alternative solutions to existing ones), new NPCs, new items, new random events.
Too much to list.
how much am i gonna regret not picking houdini technique as a lean mean glove fisting machine?
A lot when fighting against natives
yeah... it'd be nice for depot A too, but with con 3 i'm not sure i'll ever get to actually use it instead of just dying. maybe i'll just get expose weakness now and postpone EA.
>3 con
>not having passive 70%+ crit chance without drugs
Man you are missing out.
How's a no-crafting gloves run?
The unique gloves and knives are actually pretty good, but you want crafting for that infused leather.
You need 5 INT for cheap shots anyway, so no reason not to go heavily into crafting.
Shut up b***hboy
Nay, u unatractiv shlomor
I've never played this game, but it bothers me that every word is capitalized.
Frick you. Now I'll never unsee it.
>finally solved the last phone puzzle
I don't know how you guys did it but without recoring it there would be no way in hell I could have done it.
I changed the sound file to say a number
Is leveling Persuasion and Intimidation a mistake? It hasn't paid off a single time in like 10 hours of playing
HHHHNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG SEXSEXSEX WITH A HANDMAIDEN CUM IN A ROBOT PUSSY FFFUUUUUUCK I NEED TO SEX THIS ROBOT SEXSEXSEXSEX ROBOT MILK
how viable is a grenadier build
I take grenadier perk on almost every build. One of the best utility items.
If you combine it with throwing knives/shock shurkiens it would totally be a Dominating-viable.
What in the frick is this thing?
There are some valves in the room I've closed except one which is blocked by garbage.
What do bres?
hit him until he dies, then again, and again.
It will run out of lives eventually?
Allright, I thought I was missing something or was sopposed to just lock him behind the gate.
Nice
Do the valves have any other meaning or were they just there to free up the combat arena of gas?
just to clear the arena and make life a bit easier. don't think it weakens the Abomination or anything
they block line of sight which makes it easier for him to close in on you
AHAHA that thing on dominating is just PHEEEWWWW
Can you get every outside leveling red special Feats on a single character?
>Improved Naval Combat
>Naval Jousting
Aren't these taught by a hunting party from Camp Hathor?
Just Naval Jousting is thought by Lance at Camp Hathor. Improved Naval Combat is Grim Jetters exclusive.
It's a list to get all of the special feats. You need to join the Grim Jetters for Improved Naval Combat and Jet and Jab.
Money!
I will take you the entire playhtrough to sell even half of that
It sucks how little traders are willing to buy, especially on dominating.
>It will take you an entire playthrough to sell even half of that
Not with merchant refresh. Recycling, repairing and selling will take around 30 minutes to an hour at most.
>It sucks how little traders are willing to buy, especially on dominating

If you're gonna do that you may aswell just add the cash directly into your pocket via CE and just dump the stuff in a bin.
>I'll play this the "legit" autistic way by wasting hours instead of using this handy mod that avoids all the hassle.
You do you anon.
i mean it's highly autistic time waste to even loot all that junk anyway. it's not like you're even going to use the money.
at least you're going for some kind of personal best or something, right?
you're not just collecting it all for no particular reason... right...?
Core City house completely upgraded, endgame gear, Devastator jetski full upgrade. Just started DLC and I have around 8k in SGS, and 4k in Charons. Even selling everything in sight I barely have enough money left. Completely impossible with a casual run ignoring loot.
The guy you replied to wasn't the one who posted his loot. I'm
>i mean it's highly autistic time waste to even loot all that junk anyway
I do it for the money.
>it's not like you're even going to use the money
I like having a lot of money even if I won't use most of it. I bought everything except drapes for my house, which costed about 30-40k charons and at the moment I have 45k left (I haven't sold my current loot yet). After that I'm gonna loot ironheads, kill the rig eels and loot them as well.
>at least you're going for some kind of personal best or something, right?
I have no idea what you mean by that.
>you're not just collecting it all for no particular reason... right...?
Money.
>Just started DLC
Looting pirates got me around 20k and I'm playing on DOM.
>Even selling everything in sight I barely have enough money left
Look for things with the highest value and repair them by recycling the less worthy stuff into repair kits. Boots, clothes, helmets, plain melee weapons are my go to choice for recycling.
>Playing on DOM
>Recycle
Oh boy. You're in for a world of pain for taking that feat. You'll be wishing to have picked something else in DC.
Sorry. I thought you took the Disassemble perk. I forgot recycling was from a blueprint. Still, I hope you haven't piked that perk.
>Disassemble
I never understood the point of it.
It's better to pick a feat that improves quality of crafted items instead of getting shittier quality components from taking stuff apart.
It's a wasted feat no matter what.
sky high components in shit you'd never use turned into things you do use
It's one of the worst feats in the game. Even the crafting feats are pretty useless since the bonus they offer is minimal. The only good ones are Skinner and Chem Expert for Chem builds. You should only take offensive or defensive feats.
>Skinner
>shittier quality components from taking stuff apart
But if you specialize you can eventually disassemble them flawlessly! Such joy! Frick, this game is designed terribly.
thought that text was going to be "mares!"
Knife and fists are really amazing once you get going.
Can't wait for the native genocide in expedition.
i did a bare fist playtrough, Magnar didn't stand a chance after 4 failed throwing net attempts
I can do the same thing with pistols, except every shot (5 AP) deals 600 damage.
Make a webm, I'm curious.
I coudn't get a firearms pistol build to work well on dominating.
Can't post images, range banned. Here is the build:
https://underrail.info/build/?HgMPBwkDAwZGwqAAwqAAAG4ALTcAc346am4AAABGAABfGRfCoxYrw5E-wofDklFiKsKFJhHCszFL4p67AuKgigXiqLsD4r2EBd-_
I don't believe you get anywhere near 600 damage out of this, not on dominating at least.
Still, functionally it's the same to deal a 400 crit or a 600 one on an enemy with 350 HP.
does the cheat engine unlimited carry weight work with this patch or should I still wait to play again
>STRlets crying again
you love to see it
Why is it this game that you weirdos fixated on to obsess over and replay for years?
I'm only here in case something interesting like a mod gets mentioned.
>and replay for years
Well, if they really like the game there is nothing wrong with playing it a few times.
>Well, if they really like the game there is nothing wrong with playing it a few times.
I am angry that I can't get such enjoyment from things
>missed the joke
Replay for years + play (only) a few times.
What's the joke c**t
>replay for years?
Restartitus.
because you're a filthy normie
>why do people like a game???
tell me anon, is there no game that you just love and play over and over? this game has a lot to love and a lot of variety
Underrail has a charm not many other games on the market have. I don't know how to describe it. Optimizing your build to achieve max potential and taking the numerous variables and scenarios into account is extremely fun, for me at least. You do need a certain level of autism to get into the game.
Why are you in here, normalgay?
>unarmed scales with strength
>PK has a feat that scales with strength
>optimized PK Monk builds usually use strength as a dump stat because dexterity still comes out ahead and hybrids don't have the points for both
This triggers my autism like you wouldn't believe.
but thats wrong
str barefist > dex barefist
by quite a bit
What about the feats? Isn't Combo + Lightning Punches (and high MP low AP cost) >>> Heavy Punch + Wrestling?
https://underrail.info/build/?HgwJBwMDBwUAVwDCoCjCoMKgAAAAAAAAAE8AAMKgAAAAwqAATiArJhRpwqgTQwMHS8K2wqkGEkTioowD4qKNA-KmrgTitqAF378
7 will is for force user, you could drop it for more str but honestly I wouldnt since there are so many temporary str boosts
Kek, fair enough. Thanks for the build.
That build has only 1 feat which can be picked at the start tho
well gee buddy, maybe you could use the free feat slot for that one
I meant that you can't actually follow that build in game, as only 1 feat from the the build can be taken on character creation - all the rest have additional requirements, so you'd have to take some other feat on CC instead.
well gee buddy, maybe you could use the free feat slot for that one
Ugh.
Strength and Constitution (aka soaking damage stat) being completely separate, unrelated stats is stupid and a hold-over from antiquated RPG design.
I think it's completely justified. You might want to make a melee glass cannon with 16 str but 3 con. Tough I think con needs to add some other bonuses then just more hp. The feats are the only thing that make it worth investing. I don't think I ever used a build with more than 8 con ever.
Survival instincts is one of the best feats in the gane and needs 9 con.
Yes, and you have to play with less hp than 3 CON to get it. CON is basically a second damage attribute for crit builds and it's pretty silly.
>You might want to make a melee glass cannon with 16 str but 3 con.
Which is moronic. How is your character strong but not slightly durable?
I think it's the difference between strength training and resistance training. A high STR character can lift a boulder, a high CON one can run a marathon no problem
High str characters have the ability to wear heavy armor to offset the health penalty. Armor is superior to high con in every regard.
>How is your character strong but not slightly durable?
Bruce Lee
>try a pure dex unarmed only build
>end up using Mordre's knife for half the game just like every other time I try a melee build
i have no self control
that knife is overpowered as frick though. literally dont replace it until 20+
Mordre has a special knife? How do you even get it?
not a special knife per se, but he has quality 120+ gear and is guaranteed to have a knife, a ballistic vest coat, energy shield, and sniper + SMG. the knife has no minimum stat reqs to wield, so even if you kill him at level 2 you can use the knife he drops immediately to trivialize much of the early game.
How do you even kill him without triggering hostilities with SGS?
same way you cheese 90% of the game
gas grenades
Can you still do the meet Lenox Pierce quest normally?
yup, there's literally no downsides
You dont actually need to talk to morde for anything. All the speech checks are for getting him to admit it and escape or you end up fighting him.
I may be a Black person but every single playthrough as soon as I am level 3 I go brap him for a god tier shield early.
Thought styx patched that
nah best cheese in the game. hope he never fixes it.
he fixed you being able to gas the ninja in core city though
>Dude just comes over to your house unannounced now and tries to bum sugar off you
now there's some immersion
I bet my little sister 100$ if she could finish the game on hard. Honestly just excited for her to ask me questions on what to do, just hoping she doesn't get bored and give up on the game.
>torturing children
Get her a Wizardry IV next.
you know she's just going to look everything up online
He's obviously keeping her in a cage in his basement.
most of the shit online is dated and hidden deep within stygs forums. this board is the place where you can get up to date info really. even browsing the wiki sucks because half of it is incomplete.
and good, i wanted to teach her critical thinking skills.
This. It's 100 bucks for nicer rations, a shower, or him having to wash his dick off before bj. I'd take it
Does she play other games? Or is this first game attempt?
is it possible to do the coretech research facility quest without 90/100 lockpick? cant find a way in and my lockpicking skill sucks even boosted.
You mean the entrance door to the facility in the drop zone? You'll be able to unlock it during the Oligarchy questline or you can do Phreak's questline to bypass that.
I just can't get into the mood/feel of this game.
It's build autism simulator for slavs. Don't force yourself into playing it.
Drones or Protectorate?
Does it impact any of the black sea areas?
Like having to fight Protectorate outposts when sided with drones?
No, nothing like that.
>Their merchant will make your blood boil because he is an insufferable homosexual who thinks northerners are gods in comparison to everyone else.
His is objectively correct. Southerners are the Black folk of Underrail.
Both Protectorate and FD shops are quite lame though.
>Protectorate shop
>lame
Lmao Fraser is the 2nd best trader in the game for gun/armor components after Hanna, his stuff can be over 160 and he sells a lot of it so you don't have to wait forever to get it. Frames, kevlar, vests, armor and metal plates, boot springs, etc. Lube is a non-negligible damage increase for guns and you can't get it anywhere else. Not to mention he sells a lot of w2c ammo each refresh and he's a good place to spend usd.
>give up your independence, your traditions etc. and become an indistinct mass of a "people"
>here is your fancy paper global currency instead of money actually worth something by itself
>you don't need weapons, our paramilitary police can protect you and beat you to death when you deviate from the party line
>we are in the imperial dusk period with our very own citizens preferring terminal escapism but we totally are superior and so you must submit to us
>why do you keep resisting, southernim?
I never said that Protectorate is good or desirable in any way.
I only said that Fraser is right for being racist against Southerners because Southerners DO deserve racist attitudes, due to being absolute pipeworking Blacks.
>live in a state of lawless shitholeness and loving it.
>economy is based of spear-hunting for meat like some Congolese savages, raw resource exports (Foundry steel), salvaged junk, narcotics and braindead media entertainment.
>the only learning institution in the whole region is a literal Cthulhu cult.
>no cultural achievements of any note
Faceless commander acts the way he does when you can talk to him not because he's heavily prejudiced against humans - he's heavily prejudiced against Southern pipeworkers specifically, and can't quite believe that (you) are somewhat different from the rest of barely literate mongoloids populating the South.
>>live in a state of lawless shitholeness
There are settlements with their own rules. South is a frontier. Just like USA once was. No, I'm not a burger. It's so weird to see people shitting on freedom-loving characters and factions on the fricking Internet of all places.
>>and loving it.
If that was the case there wouldn't be alliances between stations and patrols to make travel safer.
is based of spear-hunting for meat like some Congolese savages
In literal hunter settlements? Sure. Oh wait, Hathor also have jets (some savages) which give them humongous reach and survivability in case of disasters. If something happens to SGS it's fricked because that single somehow magically always docked ship won't be able to save enough people to matter.
>>raw resource exports (Foundry steel)

LMAO
Also Foundry totally doesn't sell things it manufactures from their various processed metal ores.
junk
Ah yes, we are such savages for starting to recycle now. Should've just kept piling up trash to reach the starts instead. Or dump it into the oceans. After all those landfill/dump spaces have infinite capacity and it will totally not bite us in the ass later.
and braindead media entertainment.
Core City is not the entirety of south.
>It's so weird to see people shitting on freedom-loving characters and factions on the fricking Internet of all places.

despicable
>South is a frontier.
No it's not. It's as old as the rest of the Underrail. People have been living there for centuries and it's still shit.
>There are settlements with their own rules.
Yeah, but 60% of those settlements is Core City, which is like an ugly baby of Detroit, Kuwait City and Sarajevo, and the rest of the settlements don't really outnumber Ironheads and Lunatics.
>South is a frontier
No, it is not.
>It's so weird to see people shitting on Black folk on the fricking Internet of all places.
What did he mean by this?
>Oh wait, Hathor also have jets
You mean literal junk that they literally stole.
>LMAO
Yes, steel does not count as finished products for export.
>Also Foundry totally doesn't sell things it manufactures from their various processed metal ores.
Yes, as far as we know it doesn't export any of the ridiculously small-scale (compared to it's steel output) local manufacture.
>Ah yes, we are such savages for starting to recycle now.
Correct.
>Core City is not the entirety of south.
It's like more than a half of the population.

Yes.
I never said that Protectorate is good or desirable in any way whatsoever. I only argue for racism against Southern Underrailers.
>My one campaign issue is racism
You got my vote
>on the fricking Internet

>>the only learning institution in the whole region is a literal Cthulhu cult.
Shit writing tbh. The game pretends to be totes like Fallout but falls flat on its face in many areas, including this one.
>>no cultural achievements of any note
As measured by whom? The stagnant people in the north that some are already fleeing from? Yeah, those fleeing have too much pinko scum among them because those are the first to ape out by default, unless they establish their own version of Hell on earth.
Yeah nah, go stuff your tin can hive "people" up your six-fingered homosexual's ass.
>Their merchant will make your blood boil because he is an insufferable homosexual who thinks northerners are gods in comparison to everyone else.
There's a container with the gas next to D6 cans at the bunker, you can break it to mutate if you want to.
you can become a mutant and end up in depot a after breaking a wall.
Wait, when did the mutation get a questline?
Crossing the Styx Update, 2021-02-26.
theres a whole ass ending with an ex biocorp dude too. Become a mutant and head to the core city sewers to start it.
it is absolutely insane how powerful crossbows are. been playing on DOMINATING and while I have a whopping two abilities, aimed shot and special tactics, it completely shits on everything the game throws at you. genociding the natives has never been so easy. robots are a joke with shock bolts and laser pistol. I cannot be fricking stopped
>robots are a joke with shock bolts and laser pistol.
Even industrial ones?
yes they are fricking pussies. i can CC/outrun them, and my finely crafted laser pistol aimed shot does 75% of their health. it's actually pretty braindead, but the damage impresses me endlessly. i thought popping out of stealth with a sniper and shooting spree was an effective way to clear a room, but the crossbow does it better and silently.
Post your build, I'm feeling cute might steal it later I dunno.
this anon
isn't me.
>not specializing elemental bolts
pipeworker
this is my build as it is currently. I started with 10 INT and by level ~16 i had crafted the best shit in the game since i rushed oculous and JKK for the benches. leaves you with a lot of extra points for whatever else you might want. could be min-max autismo'd even harder, but i have had a cakewalk of a DOM run.
I always forget the picture
18 Perception is overkill. Not to mention it's the worst stat IMO since you can raise it trough buffs. Pick Versatility only if you go full 18 DEX laser/chem pistol/SMG build. Don't really recommend you go 18 DEX on a melee build, since you can get extra damage from STR and not DEX. Otherwise, it's really not worth it.
but muh damage. I took versatility only for using a laser pistol as an answer to bots. it was a massive help, but later in the game constant mk3 shock bolt crits ended up the more effective bot killer
knives want 18 dex
swords too, but I usually dont since I want too many other stats
This build is such a mess.
Best builds that use Versatility are chem pistols, normal pistol, SMG and trowing builds.
as i stated, it could be better, but there was simply no need to min max it any harder. i've genocided with ease everything in the game on dominating, and i don't think i used any traps except when killing magnar and the beast. i wanted to rely solely on my crossbow and craft the best shit in the game as early as possible, which I did. other than using versatility for the laser pistol, my elemental bolts tore through everything the game had. all i was focused on was making the crossbow hit as hard as possible. this was without a doubt the easiest playthrough i've done, even easier than MT warcrimes.
>i've genocided with ease everything in the game on dominating
>No traps, no nades, 10 INT
Traps are essential to a crossbow build.
you get a guaranteed laser pistol from elwoods house, also milton if you kill him or steal his key
regardless, you can simply avoid the dangerous fights until 14+ if it comes down to it
>you get a guaranteed laser pistol from elwoods house, also milton if you kill him or steal his key
True. Completely forgot about Milton. But you still have to go through psi beetles to reach him. I don't know about Elwood. Might be RNG. I don't remember seen one there.
>regardless, you can simply avoid the dangerous fights until 14+ if it comes down to it
Not on DOM, you can't unless you imported your character or save scummed the entire Junkyard section. Especially with that build. Not saying it's impossible. Someone completed the game on DOM with only a crowbar, but he did use TM.
theres always an energy pistol at elwoods house, guaranteed
i cant remember if its always a laser or if it can be a plasma
>not on DOM
yes on DOM
you can skip silent isle, the gang fight, depot A north, RK
hell, if you want, you can go to the cities after depot A and just dumpster dive and pick pockets and shit to get to lvl 14
>you can skip silent isle, the gang fight, depot A north, RK
Oddity or normal xp?
>normal
scrubadubdub
so you skip fights on normal xp dom until level 14. are you actually moronic
>traps are essential to a crossbow build
lmao no
EB gives you a big damage increase, but that doesn't mean you can't shoot special bolts without it. you can still fear and stun with fire and shock before ever getting that feat. it sounds like you are bad at the game
it sounds like you never played on anything harder than normal
>- Here's a build.

DomiBlack folk continue to be the autistic cancer of these threads.
>Laser pistols are extremely rare pre Core City
NTA but I had like 3, a recipe, and enough components to make another 4 (Catherine sells frames and emitters post, she and Ezra both sell cores). Post Depot A, laser pistols are trivial to get, and even if you are turbo-unlucky about them prior - there's almost no bots that you can't simply evade or cheese with EMP 'nades at that point.
>Traps are essential to a crossbow build.
Not really. They are really nice, but not essential - caltrops can take their role just fine. If you ABSOLUTELY must hold one opponent for a while, you can psy-temp yell "DILATE!" at it still use simple bear traps at 0 skill.
Imagine using TM instead of traps.
Traps are better than Psycho-temporal Dilation in every regard. Especially on a non psi build.
thats probably because a non-psi build cant use dilation
>thats probably because a non-psi build cant use dilation
No. Only trannies can use dilation.
thats what I said
I would pick traps over T(ranny)M(utilation) dilation all day.
trannies are traps
oooh the scrub reveals himself
Imagine having to save scum and reload multiple times in order to get by
This post was made by the hammer wizard gang
Thanks a lot.
Y no traps tho? Quick pockets are just for an extra utility slot?
the feats are not really in order either, of course, but yeah, i took quick pockets mostly for the utility slot. if you ever need to trap, regular bear traps work just fine and you don't need any skill points for that. the sooner you start using shock and incendiary bolts, the easier the game will be.
just one loose end to clean up to finish these native fricks once and for all

Without the data sets it can go as low as 50.
There is indeed no fricking point if you're just going to reload through that like a little b***h.
can it now? old low was 70
If you've never played a mobile melee character, you haven't lived. In-your-face combat in underrail is an unsurpassed high.
pic unrelated
Berserker hammergay is probably my best mobile melee build I made and played
I liked it more than STR barefist psiless monk
Pic VERY related.
If there's anything i could do i'd go back and swap around stats on this build so i could get SI. Then i would of had a stupid fast, stupid tanky knifer with 100 crit chance.
>wearing the fursuit all game
yeah, nah, i'll pass. it's a shame that it's so damn good for that type of character
Nah, this isn't all game. I forgot why i'm wearing the gaysuit in this image. I swapped between infused bison, fursuit and infused rat on this character depending on what i was doing. Rat was my go-to for bursting down 8k HP big T without doing the puzzle.

Styg should add a hidden ending after you get the jihadi belt where if you are part of the free drones and detonate yourself in protectorate controlled area, you get teleported to haven and get your 72 virgins.
i dont even need to play on dom to get the belt.

I genuinely think its fine to have one crutch, maybe two. The problem is when you use multiple on one character.
the problem is that it's so much fun you don't care. i really hope there's some sort of chem pistol equivalent in Infusion. love focusing on element based weapons; having the right tool to cuck each type of enemy feels good
sorry, that was pic-unrelated
a knifer with stealth is fine
an xbowgay with stealth and traps might be pushing it a tad, but I think its okay
nades are okay
a psi school is okay
guns are okay, burst guns are OP no matter what
but when you have 3+, its like playing on an easier difficulty
hell Id argue the doctors pouch counts as one
doctors pouch is indeed borderline, but luckily there's *just* enough variety in belts that many builds have a specific belt they want. if your weapon doesn't rely on a belt, doctor's is the go-to, but there's enough specialized belts that i think it's okay. it would be nice if some of the other belts were better so doctor belt isn't the go-to, though.
how about you delete that fricking post and try again with no image or an underrail-related image.

Anyone know how to complete the pirate “eliminate all aegis patroller” quest? Do I just need to keep killing these dudes or is there some kind of trigger im missing?
if you cant find any more jets to kill, go kill a soldier on the island and see if that does it
Can i just genocide the whole aegis island at this point or will there be consequences?
there's no consequences if you're already aligned with the grim jetters. plus, you need to do it anyway to truly beat the game. the game's not over until you've genocided every single faction and city and are alone in south underrail barring respawning critters.
How do I
watch a full let's play because the game is too hard for any sane player to not follow a wiki
pick a build most upvoted on reddit to be good for a new player
dont even think about anything for yourself or read any in-game explanations, just let other people tell you exactly where to put every skill point and exactly what feats to get and when to get them
definitely don't just play the game yourself 🙂
Test a build out and see what happens. The external builder let's you see the feats avaible and their spec points
>start at normal or easy and see what works
At least focus on 1-2 attack skills but max out 1, psi also counts but it could be left at 70-90 if you want to see what abilities do or max if main damage.
>Use stealth early, and granades if you don't have AOE abilitys or a way to stun bots
What happens if you aggro SGS? Are you locked out of finishing the game via main quest?
Maybe you can still beat it if you did it completed the drill quest. You only need to kill tchort and have six suggest to go to the North you can take any train I believe.
technically yes since you cant do the tanner questline since they are hostile
you can however become a mutant and do that ending.
wiki on pneumatic hammers
>Quality range: 39 - 119
is this really correct?
no
guess i can't escape pumping mechanics.
>haven't played a build for all weapon types, missing chem pistols and maybe another one I can't recall
>extremely burnt out on the game, everything is too easy and repetitive but also tedious and time consuming
>pouring so much time into Underrail has made me realize how shit its pacing can be
It's actually incredible how the game is most fun between 12-24 in the base game, then it immediately becomes mediocre once you enter Expedition/DC.
Anon, I think you are just autistic.
I find early game to be the most fun, and expedition to be better than the base game in general. After 14th the game is "easy" and keeps getting easier until you're just going through the motions by the early 20s. The base game has no real difficulty after the midgame; only expedition puts you in some crunch spots.
>knife crit with mental manipulation build
>everything goes p smooth till expedition with the fricking nagas
im fricking mad, i wanted to get escape artist but it seems that i really need expose weakness, no good energy edge emitter drops either, my electric serrated knife does more damage than the plasma one because i cant get the stupid emitter with a quality over fricking 50 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Melee build without Expose Weakness
>Ever
There so many people that are seemingly allergic to EW and I have no fricking idea why,
They always say 'Muh CD' but the fact you can murder an armored enemy on demand is too good to pass
stop being a b***h and go get some corrosive acid from the lunatic dungeon
You can use the kukri for a half as effective EW effect. Better than nothing and can be spammed without cooldown.
use those blast things on a crowbar and/or the kukri
corrosive or rusting acid vials
If you were on Dom the suicide belt would of been a clutch in these scenarios.
Other than that what this guy said
Going for the torch can be useful if you want to save on repair kits takes awhile though. Going straight to the nightmare dungeon by the pirates can get you a decent emitter by just killing the bots. You can also just sneak till you get the place that magnets the area free kills and attempts.

Been months since I have played, burn out of the game
Will play again when Infusion drops, in which i think it will be in 2 years from now

The current psi system is superior in every regard. Prove me wrong.
taking a real vacation. drove for 12 hours and am enjoying time away from the computer. still gotta check this thread for my fellow UnderrailCHADs. when I get back I vow to finish my hammer wizard playthrough. was following a recommendation from a hamwiz chad here but stopped around level 12 killing burrowers in camp Hathor. that's definitely around the peak of the game, but I find burrowers so tedious that I went back to playing another character. thanks for reading my blogpost
have a fun vacation
ah yes, the stasis circle
post build
can't remember the specifics, but hammer wizard is pure tungsten tank with a sledge and PK. make sure to take expose weakness. I'm sure the resident hamwizCHAD that graces these hallowed halls can provide more insight
Was close to finishing up my first Expedition playthrough as a sneky crossbow chad when a hassle-free $0 release of Daggerfall came out on GoG a few days ago. Now I'm going autismo on that.
>hassle-free $0 release of Daggerfall
How is it?
good, stay away
How is a hammer wizard meant to handle mid-game? The tungsten available is too shit-tier to make armour worth the mobility hit, rushing killing the beast early for high-quality tungsten is pointless since you can't craft with it, psi and melee are weak.
IDK, it was an okay build at first but now it's just a drag to play, which is a shame because I was looking forward to taking zero damage from anything.
well, I wear a good beetle tacvest with kevlar balaclava and tabis until I can craft a good tungsten regen set
psi is not weak; you can often 1hko enemies with a tk punch
melee is alright; with your str and a good spiked tungsten hammer you can stun or immobilize an enemy and kill em before they get out
multiple enemies can suck, and psi enemies suck, but at least you're tough as shit
a good tacvest/shield can frick burrowers
rats are no problem
frogs can be tough but you only fight one or two at a time and can often position for just one at a time
beetles are tricky, but you always have grenades
bullets are no problem except snipers really
mutants can be hard to deal with, but with a good mutated dog set you are basically immune to their acid
anyway, q80ish tungsten is alright
actually, spiked tichrome instead of tungsten while you're using tabis
and maybe a tk punch headband instead of a kevlar balaclava
How much Int should I go for if I want to do an energy pistols build? How significant is the High Technicalities Feat in practice?
per is +8% damage (additive) per point
iirc technicalities is multiplicative
Wake up, man!
I lost all fear of these predictable vermin as I head the statisfying cracking sound when they die from my fists
It's straight up amazing how caltrops counter them.

He cute 🙂

>now counting as out of combat, apply Bandage -> Antidote -> Bandage
God I love the Doctor feat.
Oh shit I forgot you could do that
Nice, now you gave me a reason to put Doctor above QoL feats on my tanks
The QoL aspect is enough for it to be an auto-include for me in general, this feature is just icing on the cake. You also count as out of combat if you manage to Incapacitate (not stun) everything you're in combat with, so you can get a heal in during other encounters as well.
True, I'm very glad you showed me real useful aspects of Doctor, because I always liked that feat, from the very start of the game, but as I got more efficient I couldnt bring myself to add it to my builds since I had no real reason to do it
Styg mentioned something about minor DLC with Underrail. I hope he doesn't add re-spec and lock it up behind a pay-wall.
>respec
literally for what purpose? that eliminates the replayability of the game. what point would there be in respeccing if many quests are completed and non-respawning enemies are dead?
>that eliminates the replayability of the game.
no it doesn't, that's not how it works
Anon, you don't understand! Padding is good for you!
Is it pleb if I wish enemy level was part of the UI?
Autism prevents me from playing a class/build, etc that is not the strongest ingame lorewise. What would it in Underrail?
Guessing from carnifex and the general bullshit psionics can do, probably punch wizard. I think thought control is lorewise the strongest, though it's not your best option mechanically
Sniper with Temporal Manipulation and Thought Control
stealth TM AR
Lorewise, Real Thought Control Psihomies dunk on everyone in real power and consequences of their actions, while Real Metathermics Psihomies are walking calamities in terms of destructive capabilities.
Mechanics-wise, it's either a sniper or an assault rifle build with Temporal Manipulation, like these anons
said.
Alright, the patch released 15 minutes ago, whats the new knife and boot combo, chop chop Jacks, I wanna know.
Dunno about that but I just picked up a "Large Waist Pack" belt off of Blaine that gives 1 extra utility slot, +15 mercantile and +50 carry capacity.
Wait, fricking +50? Get me a screen cap if you could Anon, because that shit sounds fricking rad.
I'm not him but I found the small one.
Isn't that some shit, finally the strengthlets get some free extra carry weigh capacity without level 1 picking up pack rathound. God thats such a good QoL item, blessed.
Lifting belt has given +30 for years so it's not a huge upgrade. Though it is an upgrade.
confirmed
>+15 mercantile
>+50 carry weight
>played strenghlet for 100+ hours

CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES
What? Wasn't Stygg done with updates and focused entirely on Infusion from now on? I hope he didn't nerf anything, especially not TM.
Don't think he mentioned anything about that no. And he's done with major updates or big content ones, smaller stuff isn't difficult to do for them, especially with their experience.

but what of the new unique sword? i must know
chainsword from warhammer
Holy frick post stats
it's just icon from data mining(i don't know where to find it yet), but i found that it also has new unique ability
Probably some kind of "burst fire" ability. Imagine... A flurry that doesn't end on a miss.
You need to get Phreaky to find it.
Looks pretty cool, shame I'm not playing a sword build rn and I'm a STRlet so I can't test it
It comes with a 10-hit burst special ability, each attack counts separately for the purpose of determining whether you hit.
>Phreaky
please tell me you dont have to do that god awful puzzle to get this thing. also, there should have been a buzz-saw type sledgehammer that has a multi-hit special ability.
so where can you find it
nvm, i got it
not funny
Phreak hideout in the area unlocked after finishing all his quests
Nice, was planning on trying a sword guy next time.
Shame about the precision malus. It'll probably only be good for the special ability.
>Flurry is not the only way to play sword
t. never played a sword using character
no, he's right
you can do a max crit/chance 1hko build
swords have very high crit damage
I play swords with super steel armour and low crit chance, I'm well acquainted with tin can melee.
Flurry or no flurry, armour or no armour it's still not a good sword either way, again with the exception of the special ability.
Of course, it's good for RP purposes, but that's a different question.
>Flurry or no flurry, armour or no armour it's still not a good sword either way, again with the exception of the special ability.
I just think that WITH it's special ability considered, it's quite good enough midgame (which is when you can acquire it) weapon. It's more effective to offhand it and use it only for the Chainsaw, but it would not be meaningfully harder to go through midgame even without switching to a crafted sword for regular attacks - especially if you choose to dump Mechanics and use those points elsewhere.
>especially if you choose to dump Mechanics and use those points elsewhere
8 strength requirement screams tincan. I don't really see it as an option (even as a sidearm) unless you wear metal armour.
true, but he's right that it sucks as a sword
its great as a chainsaw though
builds up onslaught and tfb mega quick
Neat.
Looks like the area just past the shock room with the 3 deathstalkers and an industrial bot (DOMI). Seems like an extra room was added.
yeah
that room was always there but it got expanded i think
Would you mind posting its stats? I'm curious.
How do you find Preak if I don't plan on playing a PER character? Do I just boost my PER until I pass the check, and no, I'm not doing drugs.
you can find the entrance by using night vision goggles, works even with 3 per
Some info about the special ability of Chainsword
It has no cooldown, works with all on-hit effects like fancy footwork and uses up all ap you have up to max 50.
If you have more than 50ap you still have 10 ap remaining for another chainsaw attack
if you dont have enough energy for further hits, the attack stops and you don't lose more ap
Does it stop once an enemy is dead or it just keeps going until you run out of AP/energy?
it doesn't stop if you kill enemy in first hit, uses up all ap you have(up to 50) or until you run out of energy
Yeah, makes sense, it would be far too broken otherwise. How's the damage though? Is it really worth the up to 50 AP cost? I guess you could try it on a naga or an industrial bot.
damage is same as on the image above in the thread.
you can try playing with the gimmick: if you only use small batteries, the attacks costs 15 ap and then you can recharge with another small battery, so on
also you can do this:
one main attack 50 ap
one from blitz
one from expert sprint
one from adrenaline
one from contraction
i do not have machete character to try it out seriously so i cannot tell how it compares to other options though
anyone knows where new unique boots could be?
decided to check the vault for the boots to rule it out
they arent there, but I went ahead and made a list of whats behind the ability checks
agility check - q100+ regen, sturdy, aluminium, black, psi crit thing, 1 aegis vial, four decent plasma cores
dex checks - q100+ electronic/psi components, a laser pistol
str - q100+ weapon components, anti-rifle plate, kevlar, tungsten plate, several toxic sludges
i swear i have to reload the final part of gorsky's quest way more than I should.
>shock hammer zone rat smacks Black folk right next to allies
>doesn't zap them
>i use shock weapons or Electrokinesis
>aggro all allies
so god damn annoying
Just don't use shock knife when there's allies around.

Core:
>Max or at least one point off max STR (Dex throw is advanced and scales only in endgame due to math)
>6 Dex because you need Cheap Shots
>5 Int, Cheap Shots + Expose Weakness.
>Agi = Sprint/Sweep
>Con = Survival Instincts or Juggernaut HP soak with metal armor
>Will = Add decent spells (cut 1 STR for Locus of Control)
Also
>Cheap Shots
>Critical Power
>Recklessness
>on the second least critty weapon type after sledgehammers
The point was
>Spear
>Stealth
>Spooky
>Spoisonous
I've done a spear and shield build and it cucks melee guys
>spear guardian also cucks quite a bit of melee enemies with its 100% block chance
Ya but you nead premedatation since it cost alot of psi. I don't know how well it works with LOC though.
new knife has been found, it's a butchering meathook
>without restrictions
Hold the frick up, does it means that it doesn't need to be a human target or just the stealth/incap+positioning?
nobody knows yet
it doesnt let you use the ability without the feat, it just makes using the feat easier somehow
somebody just tested it
its stealth/incap/positioning
anyone find the new boots yet
I can tell you a few places they're not
not in the coretech research facility
not in zamans lair
not in the lost vault
not in the waterways coil spider dungeon
not in the underpassages crawler dungeon
so the boots are not worn by drilldozer?
did I list the abandoned waterway facility?
no?
then I dont know, anon
i thought originally you meant coil spider dungeon below waterways facility not the protect the bot area with spiders
The notes don't describe them as an expedition item, so they can't be there. Unless Styg fricked up the notes.
ah right
We're probably going to check everywhere and then it'll turn out they're actually found in a random encounter which only spawns in one out of the way area, like two headed mutant eye.

Don't be moron and use an input mapping tool that can remap any key to any other key.
I like glovepie but you can also use something liek autohotkey.
I don't even know how you made it this far as lefty without knowing about this.
So many games have moronic contol schemes that often can't be remapped even in config files.
I'm new to pcgaming to be honest. I know I'm a moron thank you though, I'll use this

WHERE? COMPANIONS? WHEN CAN I BRING THIS FELLOW AROUND WITH ME TO CHARGE INTO COMBAT!?!?!
This frickin game. Never even would have occurred to me to capture a laser cat

seems useless but lol
it's bugged now and deals your weapon damage

This ends here. Someone make an open source version of Underrail.
styg will never allow mods unless he has the final say whether to accept them or not
Yes, that's why you just re-make the whole game on github.
you joke but i came across this the other day and seriously considered using it on stygs insane files.
https://binary.ninja/ not sure if it would work though
please work with high technicalities
i want to kill tchort with only a cat
holy shit. I mean it looks useless but how fricking cool is that.
gotta catch 'em all
regen is better than sturdy
not at 3 con
3 con tungsten shotty tank?
the road less traveled
when I did it it was super steel for maxx speed
https://underrail.info/build/?EAgDBgMOBAZaQwAAAAAAWloAHlpLHh41AEsAAAAAACtFJCY5KsKPwrDCmEsV378
in the pic the guy is wearing full tungsten with a non-regen vest
fair
I just like playing with sturdy heavy armor aqnd 3 con
>3 con tungsten shotty tank?
kek, what the frick? How would anyone even salvage that build?
well duh. in that pic i am only level 12 wearing some crap tungsten i bought from Len. it doesn't even have a vest. need to get my bio and tailoring up to use a regen vest. also, i am a 10 CON shotgunner, of course.
Sick of putting 2 points in Intelligence for Expose Weakness for most of my melee builds (especially unarmed/fists). Can 2 extra points in STR eventually make up for no Expose Weakness? Would be nice to save a few stat points and a feat for once.
What about cheap shots though?
With critical power that's +100% crit damage with 15% chance of a incapacitate ontop.
Game sux
You suck
you are just fricking yourself vs indust bots/naga/tin cans for no reason
Expose Weakness is absolutely necessary. If you have high Dex you could maybe use the Kukri as a weaker EW instead, but it will make industrial bots and all the expedition robots a pain in the ass to fight.
Unarmed/fists are especially weak without EW as they have a 140% mech resist/threshold penalty.
>Expose Weakness is absolutely necessary.
I suggest taking it, but its not necessary. Between the kukri, the blast caps, emitters, and various kinds of damage stacking (like combo/pneumo with fists) you can handle anything. Hell, you can kill nagas with their own blasts if you have high evasion and/or blast equipment. If it comes down to it you can lob purple acid.
they are more likely to face smack you in close range
if you stay a couple squares away they wont
>Melee without Expose Weakness
Go ahead if you want to bust your balls and suffer
t. Hammergay
is this Hammer Wizard Build good to follow
https://techhenzy.com/ultimate-hammer-guide/
about to start the game soon and i'd like to follow a Hammer wizard guide because am low IQ subhuman
is this still good and if not any pointers for a HammerWizard
That's *the* hammer guide. Don't know why it's hosted there though, see https://stygiansoftware.com/forums/index.php?topic=5358.0
If you're literally starting the game I would suggest this build though:
https://stygiansoftware.com/forums/index.php?topic=6057.0
Hey thats my guide, why the frick it's hosted on that website
What pointers you need? How new you're in the game? Or you have any previous experiencie tin canning/hammergayging?
well good to know its decent
i've literally never played this game before, i ain't new to CRPGS with the Pathfinder games but i am stupid as frick so any general things i should know or routes i should take would be much appricated
>i've literally never played this game before
>Hammer Wizard
You are going to have a bad time.
How so?
not him but the game for melee is very punishing. people recommend you don't melee the first run for a reason and thats to understand how the mechanics of things like grenades/utility slot items and the AI of monsters and how they are different/alike
Hammers are specifically discouraging for new players because of their high AP cost without much return, every other melee weapon offers an array of abilites with their weapon type and sledgehammer is the weapon without a lot of feats, thus this is why you are dipping into PSI.
>thus this is why you are dipping into PSI.
Dummy.
Also ignore the other Black person, hammer wizard is the second most newbie friendly build in the game, the first one being tin can assault rifle
thank you hammerchad

Tungsten Tin Can AR Burst baby here. I more or less have my whole build planned out I wanna know which of the 2 out of 3 feats I should choose (Fight Response, Iron Will, and Last Stand) as my final picks. Alternatively I could drop Fast Metabolism and use a Sturdy Vest instead for a funny low health tank build, or Ambush if it's too finnicky to use with such a slow character (I'm told it's very consistent though). Playing on Hard if that matters.
https://underrail.info/build/?HgsDAwwLAwPCoMKgAAAAAAAAAAAAwobCgmJObgAAAAAAwqB7AVAmYxU7SlVJRAgfYk9xc8K14p-iBeKijQPip6oD4qe0BN-_

thats a fair point

Ugh.

its a convenience later
>really helps early on
Some rathounds aren't a threat and there's nothing a few molotovs can't deal with when it comes to psi beetles.
>its a convenience later
Too situational.
u do u bae
noobies dont know how to abuse grenades early so aimed shot is nice for the first run.
I know in my first run I regretted taking it the moment I reached Level 4 and picked up Suppressive Fire. Might be nice to take if you aren't going all in on the Burst strats though.
if you are playing ARs you ARE going burst
But anon, what about the elusive Point Shot/Rapid Fire AR build?
Never got validated since Styg just gave all the single shot value to pistols. This game came 95% close to making every "signposted" build viable, but there's always a 5% miss rate.
its nice early on with the hammerer from lucas vs rats through fences to save ammo
also sometimes lets you 1hko "strong" enemies like ratula or beetles
later on if you go anatomical chimera, its nice to drop an enemy with a single round than waste several
however, the tincan I posted has neither persuasion nor will use a chimera so its fine not to take it
Is unlocking the passageway to the chainsword/abomination the end of Phreak's quest? First time doing it and it seems like there's nothing left to do after that
yeah, once you get access to the big ladder theres no quests left from him
Cool, thanks anon. His sweet Power Glove was calling my name.
Standing behind objects such as this concrete barbed wire wall, gives no cover of any kind in this game?
no
a window provides cover with sight
a fence provides cover vs some kinds of attacks
thats pretty much it
Hmm, shame, and weird.
Yeah that's why I took Sprint. Depending on the playstyle it seems very strong because it allows you to LoS break way easier. Seems like running behind walls so the AI needs to come all the way to you and not have the AP to shoot, is more or less one of the main ranged tactics.
No cover, only line of sight breaking, which actually is the best way to play.

anon I just dont think you have what it takes
You aren't playing the game properly. This is the big trap about build autism, your build decides how much you need to cheese the game, but if you don't know how to cheese (play) the game then you need to be literally invincible while one shotting all the enemies to progress.
Here's all I can do to help:
>If you are playing Oddity, work your way up to 50 effective pickpocketing.
Just grab a bunch of bear traps and start chucking molotovs
Also level your lockpicking and hacking to make everything easier

Just got to Core City as chemist pistol build. Where is a merchant that sells any chemical pistol components? Can't find any in merchant district and I'm not sure any other exist at this stage of the game (besides Fixer obv who is weak). I heard there should be Dirty Tom somewhere, but I can't find him.

for real though, why does there need to be such a massive difficulty spike so early when it comes to rescuing newton? the bugs are so fricking tanky and lately killing the ones outside has been far more difficult than the ones inside.
I really hope there isn't an "early game Underrail" moment in Infusion moment because God it sucks.
Bro, your beartraps and grenades?
You can deal with them on level 1 with any build on DOM.
The first 16 levels are the most fun, why are you like this?
they can be dealt with, yeah, but of everything between 1-16, that is quite a major spike in difficulty so early. you'd be playing with prior knowledge on DOM, yet still those bugs are so early in the game that certain builds can really struggle. being forced to spend all your SGS bux on nades and bear traps at the start of the game is not good game design
>"any build"
>is effectively a throwing/trap build at that point
lmao
>is effectively a throwing/trap build at that point
Except you can use beartraps and grenades with 0 points invested
>Most of my builds are 3 DEX, 0 throwing and trapping
You may kneel now
How do you usually deal with newton?
>If they get to psi-punch you it's probably over
Unless you have thick skull, which I always get on level 2 on my tanks
But yeah I guess throwing that many beetles that early leads to cheesing
that's the root of the issue. one at a time, they aren't so bad. this quest would be much better designed with numerous young beetles and a couple "boss" regular bugs. then again, styg thinks it's funny to stack goliath beetles in rooms for no reason other than to troll
But what if I have fun on DOMINATING?
Tbh I'd prefer Dominating encounters without the modifiers. I'm fine with Hard for the most part because you're generally playing on the same level playing field as the enemies (except for the fact they have faster drug regen, which is bullshit).
if there was a hard mode with boss HP modifier it would be kino
I don't particularly like the +30% weapon skill buff either.
>hard but fair challenge
sorry but the game becomes boringly easy when you get to about 14 on hard. DOMINATING is the only way to provide a challenge, and depending on what you are running, can still be quite easy post level 16 or 18.
Have you considered that Hard is too easy? Do you also complain about people playing Nightmare Doom with respawning enemies, or character action games where max difficulty makes all attacks OHKO?
this guy rolls into hardcore city bar winning initiative and slaps your GF's ass. what do you do?
I feel like crippling strike is useless as frick considering all it does is +50% damage on a single attack once per turn.
The -2 STR don't matter considering your opponent will be either dazed from your cheap shots, stunned from combo (or any other stun source) or dead within the same turn since it doesn't take much even on DOM.
Or am I missing something?
It's meant to be used on Tin Cans and Sledgegays.
you dont want free damage every turn?
I mean, you use it EVERY SINGLE TURN
lower str helps too obviously
It costs a feat and only is used once per turn.
It's basically a much worse aimed shot for melee, but with sligtly shorter cooldown.

why does the AI do this?
comedy
I tried it on six, but I didn't know you needed the actual feat in order to do anything to them.

daily reminder
I have never played a high WILL character, so are these pillars basically just data storages that you have to connect yourself to via PSI?
Anons, why aren't there any other RPGs where planning and building your character is this much fun?
>can easily tank and wipe out the Gray Army base by myself
>some pipeworkers in a warehouse nearly kill me
Why are Russians such pussies compared to South Underrail inhabitants?
>some pipeworkers in a warehouse nearly kill me
>not going full warcrime on their ass
They never even leave the entrance spawn
What is this?
thats a sign you need to verify integrity of game files in steam
I see, thanks. I'll do that a bit later cause I don't want to stop playing.
It's a surprise.
I hate surprises
Same.
Why can't I escape down the hole?
The clickable tooltip/text doesn't appear. Did I hide it somehow?
the little button on the far right end of the bar on the bottom
Oh shit right frick, thanks anon
Strength should contribute to HP total in Infusion.
I disagree, but Strength should at least help to wear heavier and more cumbersome gear.
18 STR 3 CON makes no sense.
in terms of hp, no
somebody with 18str should have plenty of meat points
however they would probably be fat and have shit endurance, get sick often, and just generally not be "hard" at all
Ideally they should both grant hp, but you should get less from con than you currently do, but if you had both str and con you'd get more than just con currently gives.
>Ideally they should both grant hp, but you should get less from con than you currently do, but if you had both str and con you'd get more than just con currently gives.
I'm perfectly okay with this.
Then merge CON and STR.
>a powerlifter with AIDS and asthma
Jumping back into Underrail, i want to do a hammer playhtrough.
Hammer wizzard or do i go the leather armor stealthevasion route?
What can i do to make the early game go smoothly?
Hammergay here
If youre new, or if you usually do glass cannons, go hammer wizard
If you already did HW or if you are tired of tin cans, go agile pig/bison berserker
HW is a better build but it can get boring, berserker is harder but more dynamic
Based on this and some research i have decided on HW.
Base stat spread of 10 STR, 3 DEX, 3 AGI, 9 CON, 3 PER, 7 WILL, 5 INT.
Taking Stoicism and Conditioning as
makes a convincing point.
Persuasion is up to you, nice to have to avoid some fights but you can get by with 0 so long you dont mind fighting more or not getting easy/good endings on your quests
its better to have a way to kill quickly at low levels than to try to tank a bit better
you'll have four feats at lvl 4; corp proj/force user/thick skull/conditioning
thats sufficient
>its better to have a way to kill quickly at low levels than to try to tank a bit better
You still have a glass cannon mindset, anon.
hammer wizard
get corporeal projection and force user asap, use tk punch to kill tough enemies
forget being a "hammer" wizard early on; make a psi tacvest and use a spear until junkyard at least
try to get a kevlar balaclava asap, but also work on making a tk punch filter headband
newton warehouse might be tough because you wont have stealth, initiative, or very good throwing, but at least you'll have thick skull and a lot of hp
Tac vest is useless vs beetles, usually when I go hammer wizard I rush Pig leather armor and Pig tabis, on top of getting Stoicisn and Conditioning as level 1 feats
Your version is more wizard than hammer while mine is more hammer than wizard, both are viable opener but by virtue of having 7 will but 3 agi, imo is better to open with the tanky hammergay set up than a powerful TKer, you need to survive the damage first, then return the favour with the same coin
yeah you dingdong, you cant make it until you kill the beetles
I prefer rat myself because it has both mech and cold protection
jackpot?
if you've never seen this you ain't a real homie
I've been here, but I don't remember where it is.
whys there a fricking goliath in my level 2 dungeon
welcome to my dominating dungeon im styg need any help 🙂
>need any help
Such phrases don't exist in that war criminal's vocabulary.
I always want to get that one, the chance of getting an early goliath carapace outside of Silent Isle is very nice.
