Wow. These Harry Potter games came out ages ago when I was only about 13 or 10 or so. There was this stigma against playing them around my school and my neighborhood and nearby neighborhoods too. Somehow some rumor started that the Harry Potter games were gay, and if we played them we would be labeled as gay ourselves, so none of us every played them, and instead just mocked the Harry Potter games for being gay and giggled about how atrocious they were all the time. Even I didn't buy the Harry Potter games, I just joined in on trashing how pathetic and shitty and gay they were with the other kids because I assumed thats just how society functions and I did not want to be stigmatized as gay by being the literal only kid I knew to dare ask schoolyard society:
>hey guys! How do we even know the Harry Potter games are gay? Think about it, we don't actually even know anybody who has played or beat any of them. It feels like we're just blindly assuming they're gay games when we don't know the facts here, so maybe I'll just buy them and try beating them. What if they're actually fun?
You're telling me this was just some completely unfounded rumor that hundreds of male students were deluded into believe at the time? The retro Harry Potter games are golden gems? Wtf so why was I always told they were gay growing up?
I wouldn't say I was a total fool as a youngling, just too shy to speak up. In 6th grade I figured out 9/11 was an inside job the week it happened, but never said anything out of concern of society labeling me a heretic. In 7th grade I thought it was very suspect upon learning to hear it is highly illegal to question the Holocaust in most "civilized" nations, and also thought Night and Anne Frank felt "off" somehow when forced to read them, but kept silent on the matter of losing social clout and being called a schizo. And when everybody around that time was trashing Harry Potter games, I thought it was pretty weird everybody had such strong opinions on a game none of us even played, but never really brought that up as I was worried society would turn against me and outcast me
Now I'm aguably the opposite metric. My brutal honesty constantly gets me in trouble with polite society. I am way too extroverted and way too honest for my own good and never stfu about the absolute state of clownworld. In laymans terms I have no filter and I know too much
are you brown by any chance
No I'm a burger bro of fair skin. If you want my exact geneology I'm mostly Irish. That is to say 3/8ths Irish. After that second most is German blood. And I'm 1/8th Hungarian, explaining my larger-than-average weiner. Also some Polish and French ancestry as well. Why do you ask?
Either way back than everybody was ripping on HP games. White kids. Chinese kids. Black person kids. homosexual kids. Straight kids. Theater kids. Jock kids. Pakistani kids. Hindu kids. israeli kids. Christian kids. Muslim kids. Agnostic kids. AP Honors math kids. Disabled slow kids. Indoneasian kids. Stoner kids. Bully kids. Bullied kids. Mexican kids. Palestian kids. In the early 2000s the one thing we could all agree one was HP games were the fricking worst, yet none of us ever played them!
It sounds like you’re being facetious but these are genuinely good short little RPG adventures (around 9hrs each) - I played the shit out of them when I was a kid and they are generally ranked fairly highly in Gameboy collector circles.
That was so strange to find out, as I too had mostly been exposed to the GBC versions. You might expect the older hardware to have the lesser entry but instead you get two distinct games. Not a bad trade when you could play them both on the same hardware, actually...
Yeah, I had both of them as a kid. I actually bought the GBA one because I thought it would be an improved version of the GBC one. I was disappointed to say the least.
>any RPG Maker game
*any RPG Maker game that isn't the common shilled slop that you see here all the goddamn time
yes i'm specifically calling out people here on this exact board like the blacksouls shitters, the sequel shitters, the hatworld shitters, the vip shitters, the off shitters, the jimmy and the pulsating mass shitters, and all related and adjacent shit.
ur a moron then. What's there to call out? Active threads for games people still enjoy years later? If you don't like it nobody cares. Don't go places you don't belong and expect not to be called a Black person.
>any
Why use this word? You know damn well the vast majority of RPG Maker games and romhacks are broken, unfinished garbage. It is so misleading to use the word 'any'. The 'underrated' RPGM games/hacks are just a very small percentage of them all.
Divided Reigns allows you to choose your attack angle (low/high/side/thrust/ranged/martial arts i think that's it) and has this ok magic wheel. You can swap your weapons around (and some armor) to allow certain type of categorized attacks.
Just to add to this, Azkaban on GBA was also a turn based RPG and a successor to the GBC games. Nobody seems to mention it so I don't know if it's because they don't like it or because they genuinely don't know about it.
I was never a massive harry potter fan but those games were comfy. Beautiful artwork and atmosphere and the wizard card collecting was neat.
I should play them again.
Yeah same, not a huge fan either - yet there's no doubt they're some of the best looking GBC games!
Not an RPG.
It is 100% an RPG;
Nah, its Just turn bazed sloppa you cant frick your frog waifu and vampire sexy Man dont make no sex jokes.

You were (and still are) a weak-minded simpleton.

Meant to type "now I'm arguably a fool by the the exact opposite metric"
My god dude get the your own wiener outta your mouth
Huh? I've only ever sucked my own dick one time and only for 1 second because I quickly realized how gay it tasted
Harry Potter's target audience are girls
It's like playing with barbies
It sounds like you’re being facetious but these are genuinely good short little RPG adventures (around 9hrs each) - I played the shit out of them when I was a kid and they are generally ranked fairly highly in Gameboy collector circles.
>mocked the Harry Potter games for being gay
Based kids
are you brown by any chance
Is it better than the GBA version?
Way better. The GBA games are puzzle games, these are for all intents and purposes JRPGs.
That was so strange to find out, as I too had mostly been exposed to the GBC versions. You might expect the older hardware to have the lesser entry but instead you get two distinct games. Not a bad trade when you could play them both on the same hardware, actually...

ffvi
any RPG Maker game
any romhack
any total conversion or mod
any fanmade remake
these are the real underdogs.

dumb Black person
>t. guy mad his own game isn't as popular as the ones listed
>any rpg maker that's not a shitty """"horror""""" or adventure game.
Ftfy
Those aren't rpgs so they get disqualified by default.
>any

There's no such thing as an RPGmaker game with good combat. It's always the most barebones thing.
What about Nocturne: Rebirth?
Divided Reigns allows you to choose your attack angle (low/high/side/thrust/ranged/martial arts i think that's it) and has this ok magic wheel. You can swap your weapons around (and some armor) to allow certain type of categorized attacks.
How the frick is "psychic" carnal? Carnal means "of the physical form."
Prisioner of azkaban for gba was even better
Just to add to this, Azkaban on GBA was also a turn based RPG and a successor to the GBC games. Nobody seems to mention it so I don't know if it's because they don't like it or because they genuinely don't know about it.
I prefer the gcc aesthetic tbh - wish all the books got gbc style games.
>See image
>Golden Sun battle music starts playing my mind for some reason
Thanks for un locking a memory from the past. Yeah that game was kino
Or at the very least, felt very comfy when I was 10
no they aren't you fricking sunk cost hipster
Okay dummy - they're simple, have good chiptune and soulful graphics. Stop being gay.
