Thanks. I could force myself to keep going, but it started as a joke and I just... don't find it funny anymore. I don't know how to make it funny again. Or turn the BS I have into something worthwhile. Undertale has to have heart but my heart's not in it.
I'm gonna try to take what I've learned and make something better, an actual game with the sense of wonder and exploration that made people want to play UT in the first place. But it'll be different enough that it'd be shameless to use these threads to prop it up.

Probably a subversion. Yeah she doesn't want to kill Clover, but she's not hopelessly nice to were she won't fight back. She's good natured, but not oblivious to someone that can potentially kill her.
Plus another interesting thing about Neutral is like you said, even if you miss one kill she'll offer to look after Clover and help then live a better life, and Clover will always accept her offer to have them be taken in by her, even if they've killed a lot of monsters.
She's aware of the incident that happened with Integrity, so it makes sense that despite her not wanting to kill Clover, she'll also acknowledge the potentially danger that they can be to herself and others.

I think that was because Martlet was a stickler for the rules and protocol. She's literally doing everything the book tells her to do.
Heck during the battle if you miss your first attack, she'll let you take another turn so you can successfully attack her, so she can respond in kind in accordance to manual she's holding.
In Clover's case, they have to prove Chujin's philosophy to be wrong, which they only do in Pacifist after basically getting the shit kick out of them, and refusing to fight back.
So it kind of makes sense that Martlet can kill them, even if she doesn't want to, because at that point she hasn't been proven wrong, and Chujin's words are still repeating on auto in her head.

AI can already do this but you generally need a specific model that's trained exclusively on them and the artstyle of what they originate from, unless you're just basing it off fanart. Look into stable diffusion stuff. What the gens in this thread are are made from a very general generator called dalle-3 that was basically just trained on anything on the net it could be. It's a jack of all trades and a master of few, but it can do very popular characters pretty well.
it'll never be able to do characters as well as a real artist because the step between the input database and output image is an abstraction defined by endless tags, the literal opposite of defined character design.
When I see someone say something like this I can tell they either haven't seen any AI art that's not from a generic tool like dalle in well over a year or even two. Is it difficult to make a lot of characters in one go? Yeah, but I'd have to bet most artists can't even do that.

i like the idea that underfell has all of the characters trying to be evil and edgy in the "i can be you're angle or yuore devil, im a f'd up psykopass" sort of way, but ultimately only effective/competent as their source material counterpart. You'll have to be more specific with what you mean by "rules."
Darkworld functions similarly to Undertale's underground as far as 'rules' go (which leads to one of the most sensical theories that the UT Underground is in of itself a dark world). In DR,'s lightworld magic either doesn't exist or exists in a way that it isn't used for everyday life like cooking, there's a hospital where Noelle wishes healing magic existed and ect. Saving and Loading work very similarly between the DR Darkworld and the Underground. It should be noted that in the Legends of Localization book, Toby specified that savescumming is a phenomena exclusive to the Underground and in DR it's exclusive to the Darkworld. We don't really know anything about how killing works in DR aside from frozen chicken wings as Kris seems unable to deal lethal damage directly by himself.

Did you guys pick up on the theme of characters emotionally shielding themselves by taking up personas or in Ceroba’s case, literally putting on a mask. Every character does this to some extent, Dalv assumes an intimidating facade, Martlet acts as a member of the royal guard, Star has his North Star sheriff persona, (axis was only following orders), and of course flowey acts edgy as hell to hide how scared he is. And buried in the game’s files, Clover would eventually change his name to Gunhat on a genocide route, but they cut that for some reason. Clover hiding his eyes on geno seems to suggest that it’s not the “real him” and he’s snuffing out his emotions in order to complete the mission.
Cool stuff, I dunno if this was intentional or not but I will interpret it as so
you could maybe argue that in genocide, as axis's face gets torn apart his "mask" breaks and he tries to help as many steamworks robots as he can. cool idea though!

It was tossed around for a bit, but I don't think anyone really buckled down to make an actual fanfic about the concept. A shame, because I'd like to see something about it. Martlet + Clover, too.
There was a story on au where that happened, after Clover essentially went to the True lab on their own knowing full well, they weren't coming back, but I forgot the name of it.
There's one where Ceroba kills Clover and gives his soul Kanako to bring her back, I think it's called "return of ketsukune" or something like that, but the writing is god awful, it's bad, really bad, as in the writer doesn't want shit to hit the fan for Ceroba, and characters are so ooc that it makes my brain hurt. Don't give this fic any of your time.
There's an au on twitter where that happens called rusty redemption, but creator hasn't shade any details or really developed it, so missed opportunity there.

The duel in genocide should just have been a duel. You frick up? Have to try again. If you REALLY want to frick with the player with it: make it AFTER the Ceroba battle, and if you die to it you have to redo the battle.

The neutral end-part of the game is amazing and I did that first and then pacifist (and no genocide because Im a pussy like that, couldnt do it in Undertale either, cant hurt my boy Papyrus) and its great and all but playing through the mostly exact same game with no changes before the end-part is suffering.

You'll have to be more specific with what you mean by "rules."
Darkworld functions similarly to Undertale's underground as far as 'rules' go (which leads to one of the most sensical theories that the UT Underground is in of itself a dark world). In DR,'s lightworld magic either doesn't exist or exists in a way that it isn't used for everyday life like cooking, there's a hospital where Noelle wishes healing magic existed and ect. Saving and Loading work very similarly between the DR Darkworld and the Underground. It should be noted that in the Legends of Localization book, Toby specified that savescumming is a phenomena exclusive to the Underground and in DR it's exclusive to the Darkworld. We don't really know anything about how killing works in DR aside from frozen chicken wings as Kris seems unable to deal lethal damage directly by himself.

I stopped shitposting. I realized a core part of Undertale's appeal is how genuine it is, making it fun despite or even because of the rough edges. Yellow had that. Dorito Orange did not. It was utterly ironic bullshit with no real meaning even to me. I was really just poking fun at fangames that couldn't get their shit together, which is not a great premise for an actual game.

Probably a subversion. Yeah she doesn't want to kill Clover, but she's not hopelessly nice to were she won't fight back. She's good natured, but not oblivious to someone that can potentially kill her.
Plus another interesting thing about Neutral is like you said, even if you miss one kill she'll offer to look after Clover and help then live a better life, and Clover will always accept her offer to have them be taken in by her, even if they've killed a lot of monsters.
She's aware of the incident that happened with Integrity, so it makes sense that despite her not wanting to kill Clover, she'll also acknowledge the potentially danger that they can be to herself and others.

I think that was because Martlet was a stickler for the rules and protocol. She's literally doing everything the book tells her to do.
Heck during the battle if you miss your first attack, she'll let you take another turn so you can successfully attack her, so she can respond in kind in accordance to manual she's holding.
In Clover's case, they have to prove Chujin's philosophy to be wrong, which they only do in Pacifist after basically getting the shit kick out of them, and refusing to fight back.
So it kind of makes sense that Martlet can kill them, even if she doesn't want to, because at that point she hasn't been proven wrong, and Chujin's words are still repeating on auto in her head.

AI can already do this but you generally need a specific model that's trained exclusively on them and the artstyle of what they originate from, unless you're just basing it off fanart. Look into stable diffusion stuff. What the gens in this thread are are made from a very general generator called dalle-3 that was basically just trained on anything on the net it could be. It's a jack of all trades and a master of few, but it can do very popular characters pretty well.
it'll never be able to do characters as well as a real artist because the step between the input database and output image is an abstraction defined by endless tags, the literal opposite of defined character design.
When I see someone say something like this I can tell they either haven't seen any AI art that's not from a generic tool like dalle in well over a year or even two. Is it difficult to make a lot of characters in one go? Yeah, but I'd have to bet most artists can't even do that.

Most monsters are stupid and don't specifically try to attack you. This is most evident with ones like Vulkin, for example. On the other hand, the majority of the bosses and the CORE enemies are murderous.

Undyne I can understand because she was raised all her life on propaganda and genuinely believes humans to be evil. Asgore I can even forgive, despite his actions being undeniably the wrong ones to have taken.
Sans is kind of an butthole. Don't like him as a person (fun character though). But I can probably live with him around.
Mettaton though, is unforgivable. Just irredeemable dogshit of an individual. Again, also a fun character, but I just can't justify him living.
Ideally, Underfell Papyrus would just be Skeletor.
Underfell is mostly shit because it turns everyone into psychotic buttholes, with Sans and Asgore getting the worst of it.
I say mostly shit because there are a few attempts and concepts that are actually pretty good.

Takes on Underfell Sans either change too much and make him a different character altogether or they don't change him enough and he sticks out like a sore thumb, he's by far the worst part of Underfell.

Did you guys pick up on the theme of characters emotionally shielding themselves by taking up personas or in Ceroba’s case, literally putting on a mask. Every character does this to some extent, Dalv assumes an intimidating facade, Martlet acts as a member of the royal guard, Star has his North Star sheriff persona, (axis was only following orders), and of course flowey acts edgy as hell to hide how scared he is. And buried in the game’s files, Clover would eventually change his name to Gunhat on a genocide route, but they cut that for some reason. Clover hiding his eyes on geno seems to suggest that it’s not the “real him” and he’s snuffing out his emotions in order to complete the mission.

We're kinda stuck in speculation. A lot of the rules in Deltarune aren't defined and may never be. You could argue that we see Kris body still move about akin to a person without his soul which is stuck motionless like an object. There could be more to it than we've seen thus far.

There's one where Ceroba kills Clover and gives his soul Kanako to bring her back, I think it's called "return of ketsukune" or something like that, but the writing is god awful, it's bad, really bad, as in the writer doesn't want shit to hit the fan for Ceroba, and characters are so ooc that it makes my brain hurt. Don't give this fic any of your time.

My mainissue is that a neutral and pacifist run up to the Steamworks are too similar. The neutral end-part of the game is amazing and I did that first and then pacifist (and no genocide because Im a pussy like that, couldnt do it in Undertale either, cant hurt my boy Papyrus) and its great and all but playing through the mostly exact same game with no changes before the end-part is suffering.

so DR monsters have some sort of fake "blood" like how bugs have, and can take a punch or two from a human unlike UT monsters, but they are still weaker than humans

Darkworld functions similarly to Undertale's underground as far as 'rules' go (which leads to one of the most sensical theories that the UT Underground is in of itself a dark world). In DR,'s lightworld magic either doesn't exist or exists in a way that it isn't used for everyday life like cooking, there's a hospital where Noelle wishes healing magic existed and ect. Saving and Loading work very similarly between the DR Darkworld and the Underground. It should be noted that in the Legends of Localization book, Toby specified that savescumming is a phenomena exclusive to the Underground and in DR it's exclusive to the Darkworld. We don't really know anything about how killing works in DR aside from frozen chicken wings as Kris seems unable to deal lethal damage directly by himself.
This makes me think: how the frick did the Monsters do so well in the surface world in UT anyhow? Wouldnt they be awfully easy to injure by a human by accident, and vice versa by magic?

the murals state that the war didnt result in a soul being taken, not that a soul fusion never happened.
besides, it would be impossible to know about soul fusions if one never happened before.
The thing the murals say never happened was a human absorbing a boss monster soul.

determination is quite literally the "frick your spells, i beat you with fist" resource.

Since their determination only extends as far as you don't give up in playing the game.

And you, fist as only the range of "fist", that means like 2 feet most.
Any flying monster can take you out as long as you don't have a ranged weapon.

An anon a few threads back tossed out the idea that monsters worked on WH40K ork rules where, since they are beings partially of emotion, they are as strong as they think they are. Naturally, it'd be balanced out by a generally childish mentality most monsters have which lead to
