I recently tried to read a translated WN for the first time and I'm starting to see why they do these verbose localizations. Not saying they're necessary or correct but as a Westerner it definitely takes getting used to nip writing. It can be extremely literal and to the point while discussing vague emotions for example and it sort of feels 'flat' and emotionless as a consequence.

I'm not liking Vanillaware's new direction. Starting from 13 Sentinel, too much abstraction of the gameplay, and too much VN sections. Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown are all gameplay heavy.

What I want to know is how the actual game flow is. I mean they've given a pretty good idea of how combat and development works but is there a time limit? How active are enemy units going to be? Is there going to be anything from keeping from taking too long so I can just power grind skirmishes and such? I assume there will be an XP drop off of some kind to keep things level but while I'm doing what I do what are the non player units doing?

Granted, I've only played Odin Sphere, 13 Sentinels and GrimGrimoire. OS was great almost the whole way through, 13S had really cool mechas and story but the gameplay was really bland and unengaging for how much of it there was, and GG was so mindnumbingly boring I had to drop it despite really liking the presentation and setting. We'll see, I suppose, but it being an Ogre Battle ripoff does not instill me with much confidence.

I recently tried to read a translated WN for the first time and I'm starting to see why they do these verbose localizations. Not saying they're necessary or correct but as a Westerner it definitely takes getting used to nip writing. It can be extremely literal and to the point while discussing vague emotions for example and it sort of feels 'flat' and emotionless as a consequence.

OS was great almost the whole way through, 13S had really cool mechas and story but the gameplay was really bland and unengaging for how much of it there was, and GG was so mindnumbingly boring I had to drop it despite really liking the presentation and setting. We'll see, I suppose, but it being an Ogre Battle ripoff does not instill me with much confidence.

A (Noma): When it comes to fantasy worldviews there are many different tastes. For example, Dragon's Crown could be considered a classic fantasy, but it's darker overall and reminiscent of a fantasy RPG from overseas with a bit of a mature atmosphere. Of course I like that also, but I've been a big fan of Japanese style fantasy works since I was a child.
To be more specific, the worldview of this work is not too rich with fantasy elements but rather somewhere in-between reality and fantasy. I created the worldview by starting with the European Middle Ages and mixing elements of Japanese fantasy works into it for my ideal composition.
Basically, it's based on the 14th century but there are a certain amount of "liberties" that we've taken such as the inclusion of the "Gladiators" from the B.C. era to make it feel like more of a fantasy. However no guns appear.
