Engage's localization censored around half of the marriages into "BFF's".
So it's just kinda funny how this smaller game can get away with it but not fricking Nu-Emblem, which is suppose to be nothing but waifubait.
if i had to take a wild shot in the dark, all the character's that got changed into "BFF"s" are in the game's code as "under 18" which exists because there are cooking mechanics and there's a dish that gives bonus stats for "adults" and "not adults".
The real kicker here is that the main character is listed in the "not 18" code so you just kinda have they are allowed to marry legal adults and older but not the other way around. Yeah the localization is absolute dogwater but I find this hilarious due to this massive oversight by them.

Seems completely moronic. Why not just change the description of the dish?
I mean Fates had its problems but at least they simply claimed that the 12 year old girl was totally an adult to cover their asses.

I honestly don't know, they could've just gone with that. It's just really funny how the 17 year old protagonist can marry the 60 year old man who has kids older than them but they can't marry any of the several 17 year olds in their army. I will never forget how hilarious this is.
I'd be careful with claiming Unicorn Overlord could get away considering the amount of script changes I've already spotted from the preview screenshots alone between the English and Japanese website. The antagonist in particular goes from "renegade general who wants the empire of his ancestors to rise again" to evil saturday cartoon villain who just wants to conquer shit.

This was a complete shitshow, but thankfully there was a based modding team that fixed it, all of it - https://varishangout.com/index.php?threads/fire-emblem-engage-uncensored-patch.1730/ - they got driven off modding sites in a laughably bad situation particuarly on GameBanana , nearly Nexus level stupidity claiming "WE WANT TO SUPPORT THE LOCALIZERS DECISIONS AND DONT WANT TO GO AGAINST THEM ALSO MAYBE UNDERAGED AND HURRR" it was really crazy. Even more so because no ages are actually listed in the game itself, its something you have to data mine and look into buffs and like anon said Alear themselves is "underaged". All this, when the smarter thing to do at Nintendo's localization would have been to just up all the (hidden) ages by a few years rather than write whole newdialogs and change stories around and stop romances - highest level dumb.
Amazingly, the Engage Uncensored patch managed to fix pretty much all of it and make it equal to what's being said in the JP audio option in the Western game. What's even better is that they finished and updated themod, which, as someone who has been waiting to see a finally finished FE Fates retranslation only to see it unfinished and move from project to project, is even better the Engage Uncensored team has actually done it completely, including DLCs and is just refining stuff.
They pointing out the localisation censorship of most of the S-Supports in Engage, which is fare since shit like that’s been a plague on the series forever. They are of course arguing in bad faith as that suggests that anyone gives a frick what the localisations says, but shitposters like to force drama and pretending there’s a “rivalry” between series is an easy method for them
My problem with it is that most of the body types for women seem to lack variety that Dragon's Crown had. Had three fetish ensemble of buxom, fatass, and thin waif. Most of what i see here is Body type B.
Yeah, the more I browse their website the less hyped I get. Game looks great at first but then starts looking weird. Not to mention furries. They ought to give some small updates every now and then though, game is out in 3 months so we will see soon enough.
I'm genuinely butthurt this game isn't coming to PC, fricking Vanillaware a d their platform autism. Thank frick I still have my PS4, cause its a day one buy for me.
This is only some simplified spirites + visual novel, nothing difficult to handle. I don't get this whole "switch can't handle it" crap. Devs are supposed to learn to code and optimize.
Calling the Switch is a piece of shit while wanting a copy on PS4 is rather hilarious on its own.
I'm not shitting on the choice of platform, just that you lack the self-awareness.

PC-gays are obsessed with big numbers, seriously.
Switch is great because its simple yet versitile. It's not aiming to be the best powerhouse with top tier specs instead it's balance between performance and power consumption. PC components and high end graphic AAA games are a scam, man. You don't need a movie game to have fun.

Steam Deck proves that you can have the same experience without the bullshit - its a complete handheld PC that you can choose to hook up to a dock if you wish, or install emulators and all matter of non-Steam games without a hint of lockdown. Clearly a patrician choice.

But Steam Deck is way more expensive, and it does not have joycon level of flexibility. Battery dies faster, runs hotter than switch. It can do much more software wise, but because of its power and level of complication it's worse for an avarge user.

It's typical switch derangement syndrome seen on Ganker, and the idea that someone may prefer a console over a PC for the library of games + personal convenience really pisses off a bunch of autists here.
I own both a Steam Deck and Switch OLED anyway but I largely prefer the latter over the former.
>PC version?
Okay fine, since this is Switch shit you can emulate it but its a pain in the ass that SEGA hasn't brought all of Vanillaware's titles to enhanced remasters on PC and new titles with concurrent launches Hell, just Dragon's Crown Pro alone would get tons of new players online, and Muramasa Rebirth has never had a home release and was stuck on Vita just like Persona 4 Golden used to be; which, when brought to PC via Steam, sold a ton.
Why so? They may get a new publisher and even if not Marvelous has done numerous PC titles including PC ports (I think they're behind some of the No More Heroes titles).
Why? I have no idea. The Vita port of Muramasa is about 10 years old at this point and it's been there ever since. Hopefully if it does get ported on modern systems that it'll come with the DLC included.
Which unicorn would u fug?
All of thems
the beastwomen
Rarity
This one
For me is this one, just because there is no other character I like, yet.
>brown hair
>spear
>thighs
yup, this is the best girl. I might get UO for her alone.
These are excellent traits to appreciate, anon.
maidenless bros we are so back
>shield too big
>arms too little
>legs of a little boy
>asian asslet
shit
Dangerously MLP-adjacent name. You're asking for trouble by posting it on Ganker
anon, unicorn culture in japan is much bigger than MLP, it's even bigger on /jp/ and /vt/ than it is on /mlp/
you don't even know lmao
Fire emblem bros… we lost!
>Gets mogged by Pikmin
Nothing personal bro.
Imagine not picking 2.
>romance
I don't give a flying frick, just hope the game is good.
>romance
Now i will play your game
but can I frick subhuman beast women and ruin my royal bloodline?
yes
yes

>FE won't even let you marry anymore but this random game will
Its beyond over for FE keks
It already looked more Fire Emblem than Engage ever did.
Three Houses and Engage both have romance though? It's literally this same shit where you give a character a ring
Oh nonono he doesn't know
Explain.

I was wondering why there is no UO thread. Can't wait to play. DO we have confirmed cute fairies though?
>UO threads are going to be filled to the brim with waifugays talking about who's the best girl to marry instead of the game
as it should be
No, frick off to Persona and Fire Emblem threads.
as is tradition^
WRONG! It will be eugenicists arguing the best stat bonuses out of each girl as it has always been.
You're acting like most RPG threads aren't just filled with storygays when waifugays aren't there.
Why is the art so bad? Vanillaware games are usually beautiful.
It's no Kamitani but it's still above 99% of anime game slop.
This makes Engage look like an artistic masterpiece.
I'm surprised they didn't make the red-head elf into Mitsuru and the fairy into Rise.
>Bad
If you're asking why it's not the same as the previous games it's because Shigatake was the main artist and not Kamitani for this project
Oh, if you don't mind, can you show some games with "good" art?
GrimGrimoire, Odin Sphere, Muramasa The Demon Blade, Dragon's Crown, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
George isn't handling the art for this game, that's why it looks more generic.
Is he working on something else? Is there any reason to believe the game itself will be lesser aside from just the aesthetics?
>2. Sorry, I think there's been a mistake.
>One of the girls is our cousin
So 100% we'll be able to frick her in the JP but the ENG will pozz it, right?
See?
new trailer?
>new ogre inspired game was secretly modern fire emblem all along
well now what am i supposed to look forward to
>can recruit fat ugly bastards in your army
yea im thinking kino
But can YOU marry THEM?
you can raise your rapport with the males too so probably
The ring is called a "Maiden" ring even in the localization so imagine the coming shitshow about how the protagonist cannot marry men.
They look like barabait.
what worries me is that we are yet to see any really nice loking character, the animations on the website looks janky too, especially on elves
>male elf spotted
Alright, this one will be a buy.
My problem with it is that most of the body types for women seem to lack variety that Dragon's Crown had. Had three fetish ensemble of buxom, fatass, and thin waif. Most of what i see here is Body type B.

What's the point of drawing overly detailed food?
They could've used the resource for more enemy variety or something instead
Normies love their heckin good looking food
You are not ready for Vanillaware comfiness.
I'm turning into a Warhammer Ogre from just looking at those.
Dedicated food team handles food drawing in parallel with other development, paid for by the massive increase in sales caused by tasty food
I will now buy your game
>Romance shit
Literal slop
Why does it have leaves on it? Do Italians really?
>Do Italians really?
Eat fresh ingredients?
Leaves are stuff bugs shit on, do you like bug shit on your food?
No I live a country with clean running water
That's basilium. You put it on pizza along with rucola and oregano.
I'm genuinely butthurt this game isn't coming to PC, fricking Vanillaware a d their platform autism. Thank frick I still have my PS4, cause its a day one buy for me.
Any game on switch is on pc morons
Its not the same.
>wanting to play the downgraded version
Even if it's just 2D sprites, they'll find some reason to gimp on the graphics
>Vanillaware still allergic to PC releases
Guess I'll wait until it can be emulated in 20 years
When is it coming out, March, right?
8th of March according to their website.
>Two weeks before Dragon's Dogma 2
>an entire month of pure fantasy kino
I'm gonna have to put my nose to the grindstone to finish this game before DD2 drops, damn.
I'm glad they are doing a romance mechanic. The game had way too many appealing looking girls for them to lock it down to 1 single girl.
>No physical version for PS4
Guess I'll get it digitally. Not interested in the PS5
Got the physical LE on Switch. Make the Switch.
The limited edition seemed too expensive for my taste. And I'm a little worried about the switch versions performance.
This is only some simplified spirites + visual novel, nothing difficult to handle. I don't get this whole "switch can't handle it" crap. Devs are supposed to learn to code and optimize.
The Switch is a piece of shit, anon. Besides, why bother optimizing for it when its common knowledge that Switch owners will buy anything?
Calling the Switch is a piece of shit while wanting a copy on PS4 is rather hilarious on its own.
I'm not shitting on the choice of platform, just that you lack the self-awareness.

nice gayshit
I'll dibs lex if no one else will take (her).
Oh boy
Can you marry the dark elf though
It's probably any party member, so yes Dark Elf will be an option.
I'm curious about this place. Not that there si much shown on that map.
>Ganker was praising this game as an alternative to that FE shipgay shit
>It's actually just FE shipgay shit by vanillaware

another game to play while waiting for the next FE
If the FE4 Remake is real and Metal Slug Tactics gets a fricking release date, 2024 is going to be a nice year for tacticsgays.
