Need help team building, I'm trying to do Unicorn Overlord prior to rescuing Scarlett in TZ. Tried it once already but I ran out of time because I only had about 3 (or was it 4) squads. Tried expanding but I feel like some squads still don't deal enough damage. Any tips?

Ochlys' unit has only 0.5 damage dealer (vikings are great debuffers and not much else).

next add a healer to each squad, this should be common sense for me I put the saint knights with my griffon knights and priests with the other two
your mobility and recovery are covered now you just need a tank for spot 3, ochlys is a dodge tank herself, alain works fine as a tank, it's up to you to decide the last two
flex your last spots with dps, you have tank/heal/mov
these four teams can clear the game for you in fact some maps I only need two leaving the others to guard bases that often are never hit

For Josef's unit, I'd swap out the Cleric since Josef can heal. For Ochly's make sure someone has gambler's coin and buff the front row is she has at least 2 AP. Honed Slash is a true strike when buffed. Can also switch out the cleric since she is a dodge tank. Travis's unit could be swapped for the back three for assist (magic is the better choice here). Only so much you can do with 4 units on a team since the enemy will have 5.

Yeah the idea that you could choose which region to start off with after Cornia was misleading since they're clearly designed to be tackled in a linear fashion.

Dot stacking is really good for killing bulky enemies. it's how I beat Amalia at level 20.
Its easily the shittiest fight in the game because you have to basically cheese it but once you do, it's comically easy. Like look at this shit
. The way I beat it was having a few units that stun and one that burns and you win. Set their condition to only attack when the enemy is not stunned. Otherwise, do a Start of Action ability (Hasten Action) or use a Swordmaster with meteor. It would be fine if it wasn't for the fact he heals about 200HP a fight and not to mention that chapter is long as frick. It definitely brings the game down and the fight after is better even if it is easier.

Despite having reached A rank in renown a long time ago, I decided to hold off expanding my units to 5 until the enemies had also started doing so, as I really didn't need to make the game any easier (I'm already playing without using any consumable items).
But now that time has come, and honestly it's kinda daunting. I have always relied on the 1-3 formation for all my parties, and have been running most of them (I have 7) for a really long time, it feels so weird to have to add a new frontliner, especially since I'll probably have to break up the old compositons and create new ones as I probably won't be able to just stick an extra unit on the front row and not have them underperform.
Would you? Or are you weak?

Is this the kind of game where resources/in game time is scarce and you have to make the most of it, or can you experiment and/or redo missions and such? I don't mind either way, but if it's the former, I want to try to min max as much as possible, so I don't softlock myself or anything along those lines.

I have had it happen once, posted about it a few threads ago. It was quite weird as I used the same tactics that caused it to see if it was repeatable and it just proceeded fine.

No, in my encounter with boss Nigel on my current run I killed him with a freeze conferal spin from Alain and it softlocked my game, battle paused and all I could do was interact with the move card.

put them in your strongest team, give them all your +exp gear(the egg, the chalice, chloe's pendant, recruit gear), use alains order and fight the boss whenever you can
even if they die they will still get a ton of EXP
Do a liberation mission with them replacing a slot in one of your top units. Like, Alain can cover just about anyone so swapping them in is easy and even if they're dead they gain the experience.

Making Honed Spear the 2nd action and turning off all of her other attacks, I'd assume.
Sanatio uses AP, so you could restrict Honed Spear to "target has =< 1 AP"

Just finished Elheim around lvl ~26, how much gimmicky building do I have to do to round out coliseum? Got up to rank 6 but feeling like the stat diff is too much to account for, and if I just have to build a cheesy strat to account for that

I've heard the easiest way is to catch the chickens on palevia, sell the golden egg to buy the runic sword, then give that to Josef and go straight to rescuing Scarlett. I'm not sure how well that mission goes when everyone is still so weak though.

Do you skip the battle scenes? I just finished Elfheim and at this point I just skip them.
I've watched almost all of them, only really skipping if I'm finishing off an enemy unit or something.
I skip ones that I understand the interaction of after awhile but I do like watching them for the actual animation throughout maps. I get people get bored of watching the same animation repeatedly but I quite enjoy seeing to observe new things. Realized recently that the way each class holds their shield for instance varies with different straps to grip on to, neat details like that are fun to notice.

Forgive me for being moronic, but what's the best tactics to force buff characters to focus on a specific move?
Like say I want to ice conferral a wide hitting move, but I don't want the caster to buff every single attack that comes out by someone. Same thing for someone powerful calling a magic type attack.
Also, with the split damage weapons, are there any with good skills or stat bonuses outside of the Runic and Twinned weapons? I didn't really see anything in the shops for Bastoria or Elfheim outside of the spellsteal and great wood stuff
Use a combination of row conditions and type conditions. Like back row elf, or front row flying.

I’ve noticed this over the years on discussions relating to dubs (both ones I’ve observed and been a part of) but people who use them often don’t seem to consider the notion that someone might like a Japanese VA for reasons beyond them just being a Japanese VA. Case in point is the FF7 remakes where a lot of people like Aerith’s current English dub actress but if Maaya Sakamoto is mentioned even in a non-confrontational fashion it’s regarded as contrarianism; no you can’t like her because you’ve enjoyed her performance both in this specific game and in other works, nor can you be engendered favourably towards her because of a fondness for prior characters she’s played, you only like her because she’s not the English one and if there was no dub you wouldn’t care about her or know her name. It’s absurd not only because it’s naturally the kind of thing people are like to do but the same thing happens with dub VAs too so it’s not as if the practice is somehow foreign or entirely alien to them. I have never understood why this is the case either
