One of my favorites to use in Albion. Gryphons stun with Scarlett's ground tome (and they both get pursuit) and Hilda also stuns with the lighting trident.
Initiative and ACC gets fixed by pic related and Scarlett gets her Albion weapon because it mops up things with innocence ray.
This isn't like the tactics ogre psp remake where literally every class besides unique ones had male and female variants. This is more akin to the original version where there was no such thing as a Rune Fencer because only women could be valkyries.
I do like how the game reinforces that these two get along well. Auch is the self-centered autist who means well but won't ever shut the frick up while Rolf is a good listener because he doesn't say much.

I really don't know how they did it. Short hair + pigtail isn't a winning combination for me but Meslidanre was still pretty endearing in a game filled with plenty other cute girls.
3rd Rapports with dudes are still mostly around the levels of oaths of brotherhood and loyalty.
Game starts out being really fun but eventually gets extremely bogged down with too many characters and class types, too many pieces of equipment, and skills which you need to make sure are correctly coded. Unnecessary complexity, especially considering that the game doesn't have a difficulty deserving of learning or studying all those elements.

It is regrettable that the game isn't more challenging but making things work to the best possible degree is the appeal.
I get it, I really do. I can pretty much ignore most skills on equipment but I hate how tactics were implemented. Those should have been auto coded, it's not fun coding when you're so heavily restricted. On top of that, the game/translation does not do a good job at phrasing how tactics might work, such as "an ally" actually being "another ally" instead. I wanted to equip skills that buff the user but cannot, and I do not want to adjust another character just to work with the intended character, then adjust them again when said character isn't in the squad anymore.
Why don't you just cavstack then? I don't understand this complaint whenever it comes up. Game is not forcing you to be creative or invested in it, if being lame sounds more appealing.
You know, despite the entire bad guy plot being mind control... just entering Angel land, there is a really big lack of mind controlled enemies... like seriously...
Albion was like one of two places where the head of state was "alive" to be controlled but keeping a dead body animated was apparently easier.

Those are the safe options where you get immediate and guaranteed return, but I was more curious about the more offbeat skill items and what they are good for.
Having had the weaker versions, I know that the upgraded wyvern reins are pretty handy on fliers. The cavalry ones are totally useless, have yet to find a cav unit that isn't better off guarding or pursuing.
I'm wondering if purifier staff or gran baris are any good.
My headcanon is that the ring will bind their lifespan or some shit and that will be revealed later on when Alain somehow looks as young as he was at 17 when he's like 50.

You can probably just station every possible town with generics and other units, repeat the shit out of the final sigil quest, and farm renown that way.

Carn pendants aren't actually that great on attackers. Usually you want to attack once and make it count, or twice with a cat hood (which automatically alleviates AP shortfall somewhat). It's way better to have self-buffing gear equipped unless it absolutely can't be avoided.
Now Lapis pendants are another story...support units each through PP fast so you usually need to waste a slot on some kind of +PP gear.
What the other anon said. It's not that you deal more damage in a hypothetical drawn out fight, it's that you deal enough in a short decisive one. You can finish fights in 1 or 2 actions (AP) pretty consistently by midgame. AP cost isn't too demanding, whereas PP cost will likely be used to buff those 2 actions at minimum, start of battle, maybe end of battle, etc.

At begining don't worry too much about sinergies, just be aware of units weaknesses and strengths.
Warriors can't take much damage, they don't block either, keep em in the back. Flyers are really good frontliners specially at the beginning, only bowmen and fencers can reliably hit them, same with thieves. I put my griffon rider next to Ochlys and they demolished everything on their path. They were quick and hard to hit, if the enemy even managed to attack.

The elheim mission with the chuuni dark elf, his squad wasn't fricking suicidal and actually ran in your direction while still being capable enough to survive multiple enemy encounters.

I had this exact thought the other day. They feel so...ordinary in their goodness. Like there's classes that are theoretically shitty e.g. Berserker, but if you build around them they're monstrous.
I guess Roar is their blue chip move, and even that is just a bizarro version of Rapid Order, which 2 other units have.
They feel like a unit designed as an enemy first, because they're defensively obnoxious in a way that's not useful or effective enough to accomplish much in the player's hands.

iirc the foxes do passive seals and weakness followup immediately, 3 of those in a team will instarape especially with higher accuracy at night that even dodge tankers need to play RNG to win

NTA, but I just did what I'd been doing the entire game, in Bastorias. Look at the enemy stats, type, skills and build counter teams. A single Great Knight using Eagle Eye can take out of a row of any non-Werebear bestral with ease. At that point it just becomes a trivial matter of outspeeding.

They are pretty tricky if your teams aren't designed to handle that
That night time boost they got will usually evens their power level against you, it doesn't help that they love using Pursuit skills so if one of them hits your unit, others will follow to destroy said unit.
You can go grind yourself to Lv.30 when you got the Sigil there but the last part will challenge you even with that level. The last mission is them pulling a zerg rush to you and you got to defend the middle area for a while. Just finished it yesterday and its hell.
Bastoras is where frontlines are put to the test and you absolutely need to know what team to sent against which squad since a dodge tank led team might seem like a good idea until you notice that fricking owl in their backrow granting every furry truestrike.
I also would like to add, you can get away with "shitty", low power, gear with proper team composition and understanding that not all teams can fight all enemies, besides the obvious twink builds.
Swordmasters or anything with true strike. Featherswords are some of the best dodge tankers in the game for a reason.

I'm mulling over a "keys to power" run, in the midst of a 1st TZ run. What I want is to take the shortest, most sensible route through the game that will make me reasonably powerful for the final map, but which avoids as much "filler" as possible. So it would be something like: >Barbatimo and Ochlys >rescue Scarlett >get C renown from the overworld/lib quests >get Gammel, Celeste, Mandrin, and Renault >go to Bastorias >then do some/all of Albion >Unicorn Overlord
I already know I can get Yunifi early without too much difficulty, I actually did this in my current run before doing any of Drakenhold/Elheim. The main difference would be going hard on Bastorias, instead of leaving after picking up Yunifi. I don't know if it's interesting enough to merit a 3rd run yet, though.
I assume the ending will be the one you get when you kill Galerius instead of "free his soul." So like a middle end? I'm more interested in seeing how the gameplay pans out with half your usual tools, so I can live with an inferior ending.
You simply can't "overlevel," unless you're trying to. You're essentially hard capped at no higher than 3 levels above the current mission, with the way the exp formula works.
To actually overlevel and receive significant benefits from it, you'd have to do missions wildly out of the recommended order on purpose.
It's a nothingburger, don't worry about it.

Game starts out being really fun but eventually gets extremely bogged down with too many characters and class types, too many pieces of equipment, and skills which you need to make sure are correctly coded. Unnecessary complexity, especially considering that the game doesn't have a difficulty deserving of learning or studying all those elements.

I get it, I really do. I can pretty much ignore most skills on equipment but I hate how tactics were implemented. Those should have been auto coded, it's not fun coding when you're so heavily restricted. On top of that, the game/translation does not do a good job at phrasing how tactics might work, such as "an ally" actually being "another ally" instead. I wanted to equip skills that buff the user but cannot, and I do not want to adjust another character just to work with the intended character, then adjust them again when said character isn't in the squad anymore.

Carn pendants aren't actually that great on attackers. Usually you want to attack once and make it count, or twice with a cat hood (which automatically alleviates AP shortfall somewhat). It's way better to have self-buffing gear equipped unless it absolutely can't be avoided.
Now Lapis pendants are another story...support units each through PP fast so you usually need to waste a slot on some kind of +PP gear.
I fail to see how that's true unless the accessory im swapping the carn pendant for gives me more damage than the extra attack I would get out of it

What the other anon said. It's not that you deal more damage in a hypothetical drawn out fight, it's that you deal enough in a short decisive one. You can finish fights in 1 or 2 actions (AP) pretty consistently by midgame. AP cost isn't too demanding, whereas PP cost will likely be used to buff those 2 actions at minimum, start of battle, maybe end of battle, etc.

At begining don't worry too much about sinergies, just be aware of units weaknesses and strengths.
Warriors can't take much damage, they don't block either, keep em in the back. Flyers are really good frontliners specially at the beginning, only bowmen and fencers can reliably hit them, same with thieves. I put my griffon rider next to Ochlys and they demolished everything on their path. They were quick and hard to hit, if the enemy even managed to attack.

Nothing too crazy, Alain, Veggie, Hoplites in general. Do foxes have truestrike? I don't remember that actually. If they don't you could use fliers. Their attacks are melee, right? Swordmasters then, if they don't have true strike, of course.
iirc the foxes do passive seals and weakness followup immediately, 3 of those in a team will instarape especially with higher accuracy at night that even dodge tankers need to play RNG to win
not only that, but the weakness follow still procs even if you cleanse it with something like refresh.
NTA, but I just did what I'd been doing the entire game, in Bastorias. Look at the enemy stats, type, skills and build counter teams. A single Great Knight using Eagle Eye can take out of a row of any non-Werebear bestral with ease. At that point it just becomes a trivial matter of outspeeding.

Night encounters ARE hardcore, but you can still overcome them without much difficulty.
It's mostly the werefoxes, if you don't prepare for them they'll probably kill at least one of your frontliners.

That night time boost they got will usually evens their power level against you, it doesn't help that they love using Pursuit skills so if one of them hits your unit, others will follow to destroy said unit.
You can go grind yourself to Lv.30 when you got the Sigil there but the last part will challenge you even with that level.
The last mission is them pulling a zerg rush to you and you got to defend the middle area for a while. Just finished it yesterday and its hell.
Bastoras is where frontlines are put to the test and you absolutely need to know what team to sent against which squad since a dodge tank led team might seem like a good idea until you notice that fricking owl in their backrow granting every furry truestrike.

How do I kill Featherswords? Even squads with multiple archers get stomped when going against just one.
I also would like to add, you can get away with "shitty", low power, gear with proper team composition and understanding that not all teams can fight all enemies, besides the obvious twink builds.
Swordmasters or anything with true strike. Featherswords are some of the best dodge tankers in the game for a reason.

I'm mulling over a "keys to power" run, in the midst of a 1st TZ run. What I want is to take the shortest, most sensible route through the game that will make me reasonably powerful for the final map, but which avoids as much "filler" as possible. So it would be something like:

>rescue Scarlett
>get C renown from the overworld/lib quests
>get Gammel, Celeste, Mandrin, and Renault
>go to Bastorias
>then do some/all of Albion
>Unicorn Overlord
I already know I can get Yunifi early without too much difficulty, I actually did this in my current run before doing any of Drakenhold/Elheim. The main difference would be going hard on Bastorias, instead of leaving after picking up Yunifi. I don't know if it's interesting enough to merit a 3rd run yet, though.

Strategies for avoiding overleveling?
Make 6-8 squads. Make sure they are evenly leveled.
Commit to 10. No less. I'm in Bastorias and every decision matters.
You simply can't "overlevel," unless you're trying to. You're essentially hard capped at no higher than 3 levels above the current mission, with the way the exp formula works.
To actually overlevel and receive significant benefits from it, you'd have to do missions wildly out of the recommended order on purpose.
It's a nothingburger, don't worry about it.
