Question: What is the point of the magic damage weapons. I thought magic conferral used your own damage but I guess not? So why would you need the split damage for say an axe?
It lets your weapon users better deal with enemies with high physical defense but bad magic defense.
But if you don’t have a Magic Potency attack, it won’t matter since it never uses that stat right. Or do some conferrals scale with your own Magic attack?
Doomknights have one attack that scale with MAtk
Some classes have attacks that use both attacking stats (Elves). Otherwise there is no reason to equip those unless it's granting you a magic attack skill.
Runic and Phantom weapons come with actives that deal magic instead of physical damage. The greatwood/spellsteal stuff are just for elves.
Certain skills may use both Phys and Magick Attack so it's good to have both high scaling, like the any of the elves for example. Classes with innate high M.Atk can also make use of weapons with M.Atk scaling like Paladin or Radiant knight can use Runic swords really well.
Also most healing skills actually scale with Magick attack, it's not a fixed amount

build a team specifically to counter your current opponent. All the high level arena guys have fricked up meme-builds that you have to counter, your normal team formation is probably not good enough for their tricks

Change tactics to counter the enemy units, or start using clerics because you just need to have a higher average percent of HP to win, out-surviving the enemy is a completely valid strat

Bastorias will kick your dick in if you go before finishing most of Cornia/any of the other regions. Then you'll enjoy a new challenge and actually be forced to use the best tools available to get by, rather than have to artificially restrict everything.

sequence breaking in this game only makes the game easier though, since exp difference between low level and something mid 20s is huge, and unlocking a new skills 5 levels earlier than your opponent is a gigantic advantage, especially with unlocking all the row attack.
If you manage to win with 1 town in a mission in bastorias while you're still in cornia, with all the exp buff included that unit will go up multiple levels and will easily shit on the entirety of drakenhold.
I mean that's basically how Cornia-only runs work, you cheese high level missions to level up your Alain and unlock spin to win, then just use one unit to win the game.
Drakenhold is already braindead. That's the issue. So you might as well make Bastorias and maybe Albion interesting for yourself. Then you can do Drakenhold with the units you didn't use in Bastorias, or recruit low level mercs.

I was under the impression the code was rather dense for modding. Not to mention, console games tend not to get nearly as much attention from modders as PC, even with emulation options.
Every tactics game I mentioned was console only, but yeah people are saying the game is 'encrypted', whatever that means. Ironically, emulators are some of the best tools for debugging games and this game is basically perfect on switch emu. So I'm hopeful. Remember that it was the dolphin scene that made all those Melee mods, including rollback netplay possible. Never doubt the power of autists
