Nearing the end of Albion and getting sad that I'malmost done. I've really enjoyed getting lost in this game while browsing the surprisingly comfy threads on Ganker. Anyway, the game seems to really push Scarlett HARD as the Canon choice for your Maiden, but my heart is really drifting towards the Elven sisters (after learning how shit Berengaria's epilogue is).

I avoided all and any ring scenes and epilogues for any maidens I was interested in and picked them purely on my own experience during my playthrough. Whatever happens afterwards is then also part of this experience.

To be fair, the difficulty balance around that part of the game is a bit screwy even if you're going the "intended" route. The higher-level Cornia missions are largely still easier than the early Drakenhold missions, and a little ways into Drakenhold you're likely to get an astronomical power boost from promotions and leave the enemy forces in the dust.
You weren't meant to entirely clear out Cornia before leaving, just enough that you got the message that you were strong enough to rescue Scarlett. It's dumb since it's piss easy to do before Scarlett. Hell the game accounts for you possibly facing Galerius prior to ever rescuing Scarlett.
Given the route options the game gives you, they should have included enemy level scaling. It's one reason I'm not going to do a replay anytime soon as even if I do challenging areas early, I'll just be overlevelled for other parts.
Would change virtually nothing, except a few more armors would have cover skills now. You'd still be cutting through everything like butter, only you'd be permanently exactly 3 levels ahead of every enemy all the time. How exciting.

Maybe not surprisingly, the feather shield (forgot the dudes name) found some good use in this squad, adding another armored guy into the frontrow for the banner, reducing the amount of debuffs going around and countering the magic that is supposed to counter the frontline.
Still probably my weakest unit.
I feel like debuffs really dropped off in the second half of the game, both in terms of using them myself and suffering from them. I guess this is simply because the latter regions have more than just humans, so you encounter less druids and have more units to build squads from.

If you want, you can push their evasion high enough that they won't need to use their parry anywaya, and that gear gives them even more evasion passively. They often go fast enough that Charged Impetus is their first AP skill and if you give them 3 AP, then this one can be their third.

The one thing I wished they learned about FE is to not make unit movement speed in the map something tied to class or stats. It makes Cavaliers pretty much mandatory on every team and makes it so only they get to be team leaders.
Hoplites have the same problem as FE knights. They just have a whole squad to help them go faster.
Hoplites funnily enough don't impact squad mobility significantly more than standard infantry, as long as they aren't the leader (no infantry should be anyway). But they kinda just blow in general.
they are underrated, sure you won't be able to do epic cat hood strats and oneshot the entire party but you can just pair them with a saint knight and that team becomes pretty much unkillable outside breakers
What is Hastened Call?
You don't need a gryphon on your team to get hastened call and there's even an item that grants it
It sounds good on paper, but pretty much mitigated by being able to switch units after starting combat, and that 0 stamina units only mean they can't move and gave no other penalties to combat.

Honestly it's pretty meh all things considered, reminds me a lot of Josef's 2 AP single target attack. Not worth the price in either case but when you look at the rest of their attacks you realize none of them are actually worth the AP they cost.

It's copium, but there's a freeze sword in Bastorias, and they're probably the best users of it since they can bypass the front row. If you put one on the same team as an Elven Archer you can even freeze a full back row between the two of them!

Paladin's skill list is pretty damn subpar m8, it's just less noticeable since he's overleveled to high hell at the start. Even with his stats at level 50 his attacks just exist to feed his PP which gets quickly depleted with his single target passive that reduces damage by 50% for one ally. The shield might be cute in early game when there are 2 enemies at most but once squads reach 4 you get tired of him pissing away all his PP before the enemy even finishes with their attacks. Pursuit also is wasted on him since he's not a pure phys class so it hits like a wet noodle, he should've had a pursuit that dealt part magic damage.
Paladins are just slightly worse sacred knights with some niches, featherswords are dog ass and even more compared to any other angel job which all are stupidly strong if used right
I'd say they're far worse than sainted knights, given Sainted have solid support skills and their attacks feed their PP on impact, not if enemies die to them.
