My friends and I hang out almost every Friday and Saturday for vidya and card games. We break out Smash Up and Heart of Crown every now and then, so this should be played at least a couple times a year. Sorry sperg, not everyone is a friendless, homeless loser with a fishtank like you.
It felt like a bit of a gamble to order the Collector's Edition when I did. Before I actually knew if the game would be good or not.
But I knew I liked the genre. I trust Vanillaware a lot. And I like the games the game is clearly inspired by. So I ordered it even if it was kind of blind.
But now that I am fully in love with the demo already I am very happy that I did. These cards will be extremely sexy to have.
It really hurts to know that my professional grade scanner broke down a couple of years ago though. I would have totally scanned them (would have likely shared the scans too).
I do genuinely want to play the card game. I don't just want the cards on my shelf as some untouched collectible.
But I would like to scan the cards first so that I could at least potentially replicate the cards if they were to end up damaged or I just felt like making another deck. But if the cards should be scanned, they should absolutely be scanned before they're used.
I hate it. Professional scanners are mad expensive. But consumer grade scanners are a lot worse and chances are good the replicas won't match the originals if I use one.
Don't worry anon, all my games are bought with the money of some onions guy paying me rent for my old apartment since he was busy having an experience instead of buying his own home
Since Melisandre exists maybe there'll be romance with other characters, but until proven otherwise you can probably expect those girls to be the closest thing to pre-destined picks
OR the worst case scenario which is that you'll just get Scarlett and nobody else
Option 1 - It's a gameplay only mechanic and lol you romance who they tell you to in the story
Option 2 - If you give the ring to one of their handful of pre-approved girls it's romance otherwise it's platonic
Might be like Three Houses where you marry them at the end. That said, I think in an interview they talked about the story being more about personal relationships so it may happen towards the end and it gives you some kind of buff when your wife is paired with the MC
>you can give the poison weapon to the MC
Fricking thank you VW, I love when the fighting guy (fighters, knights, heavy machine guys etc) use poisons to even out fights out against monsters and villains but it's almost never an option
The black market dealer has potions you can use to change growth rate like when hiring mercs. Lex has Hardy and Offensive but you can change it to double Hardy for more HP gains.

I sent all 4 of my joycons, 3 had drift and one was actually broken (my fault) and they fixed all 4 and on the repair sheet it said they found "no issues." Nintendo knows how shit their joycons are after the backlash and constant repairs they had to do.

When my PS4 controller started sticking (out of warranty) I bought a new one then used the new one's details to order a free repair and sent them the old one. Got it fixed and sent back within the week. Wasn't expecting it to work but they apparently didn't bother checking if it was the right now.
If you buy a replacement stick and fix it yourself you can have it running again in 2 days. It will also not be using a nintendo stick so it is unlikely to drift again.
If you send it to nintendo you'll be waiting weeks or even upwards to a month and some more to get it back, and you'll get it with a nintendo stick meaning it will likely drift again at some point in the future.
Imagine if giving rings has no romantic meaning at all and the only romantic interest for Alain is his childhood friend Scarlett. Vanillaware wouldnt make it this boring, right?
Not giving Alain free reign to frick whoever he wants is understandable because Vanillaware actually likes crafting their romance stuff to an extent
Locking Alain to a single girl would suck ass though especially when the roster is so big and especially when they're drawing inspiration from Fire Emblem which is so big on picking your own lately
Nah. I do think that people may be SOL for any character that isn't in
>Scarlett - Albion heroine >Yunifi - Bastora heroine >Virginia - Drakenhold heroine >Eltolinde & Rosalinde - Elfheim heroine
These will be your romance choices (probably)...pick well
list, since I do think there will be character endings tied to the ring, but obviously not all of them will be romantic since even Josef can receive the ring.

>you can literally surround the capital in this demo >enemy army never even tries to counterattack

Bad guy land's plan seems like conquering the continent is just a means to an end and not actually relevant to what they're doing long term

The layered vocals and the vibrato is giving me some Ar Tonelico vibes.
The sound track is honestly really good in general. If the full game has even more stellar tracks then this might end up being one of if not potentially Vanillaware's strongest OST.
Can you really choose where to go after Cornia in the full game or is there some predetermined path you need to follow? There are three countries bordering Cornia, so there is pretty huge freedom of choice if its up to the player where to go.
Based on how the demo ends you get free reign to go to Drakenhold or Elfheim
Inferring based on the promotional material, but I think that you'll get the same type of choice after finishing those two regions between Albion and Bastora. I don't think they'll let you go straight to Furryville/Angelville at least for main story considerations but maybe I'm wrong

I undrestood from the interviews and such that you can indeed go wherever you want. Seemingly some areas just are lot tougher to go to if you go there first, since theres no level scaling or shit. I recall someone saying that the game will give a pop up saying "This area is very high level, proceed anyway?".
The demo made it sound like at least for progressing the main story you must go to Elfheim or Drakenhold next, I can't say for certain but I'm guessing if you try to go up to Bastora immediately after that Josef might tell you to turn your ass around but who knows
In my mind I was expecting it to be more like when you try to go towards Bastora/Elfheim/Drakenhold in the demo where he tells you that you need to rescue Scarlett first

that someone would have to get a copy directly from a manufacturer, which implies stealing it from the factory that produces the cartridges. distributors and everyone else in the supply chain aren't the manufacturer so it's pretty clear you misspoke initially

Man, you're fricking moronic because you imply it's ok to steal big release like Pokemon and Zelda, but nobody is going to risk stealing this game.
Also, the manufacturers don't keep all the copies in the world to themselves, they are shipped to multiple warehouses, which presents plenty of opportunity to get a copy. The game is sitting in some box on some warehouse shelf for days already.
the battle predictions break the game
it's like seeing the dice before they roll
you can adjust your equipment and strategies to get better outcomes
hope it gets disabled for expert mode
No, that's actually how it works. Everything gets rerolled if they get support.
This also works for your own supports, though. The real utility of supports isn't the damage. It's that it's basically rolling with advantage. You get to choose between the two rng outcomes.
switching equip on the fly is the most nonsensical thing, I'm not gonna be doing that, I'm not a big fan of predictions until I attack a group with the thief and it spoils me that he's getting hit three times with 20% hit rate. Even still, I'm hoping that last difficulty won't have them.
this also makes support fire disproportionately powerful, even if it only does like 2 damage and doesn't push anything past 0, it's an extra RNG roll every time you start a battle.
Honestly though, it's not that big of a deal. It's an RPG first and a tactics game last. You can end up so overpowered by the end of the demo that any squad can roll over any enemy, and it's probably also the case for the full game, especially with stat ups and broken ass equipments.
I wonder how much internal testing they actually did. We figured out this kind of shit breaks the game within a week.
As you've said, it's looking at the result of the dice roll before they happen, and being able to adjust. Oh, my rogue will get hit by a 1% attack? Glad I can see that it will happen before it does, and can switch things around until it doesn't happen!
What do you people want? Just a random slugfest where everything is charmingly opaque and you can't intelligently react to new info? Transparency of information is important in strategy games, at least in this very basic way. The entire conceit of UO is composing a squad that can handle the threats that come at it. You can't really do that if you don't understand how damage is calculated.
a big part of the whole appeal of tactical games is getting hit with something unexpected and having to adapt and overcome.
frick, my Fire Emblem character missed a 95% and now he's in danger. I better move up my knights to guard him to make sure he doesn't get gangbanged.
oh shit, my back row healer got crit in Darkest Dungeon. better play it safe, don't want to risk Death's Door.
my XCom rookie/meatshield got a lucky hit on a gray! move everybody in and press the advantage.
with UO, you know exactly how things are going to unfold ahead of time, and can readily cheese it if things aren't going to go your way
that's still present, it's just at the map level instead of in individual battles. you build your formations to deal with specific problems, then assign them towards goals on the map. ambushes, reinforcements, fog of war are all stuff you can't account for that will change your tactical decisionmaking.
later maps are likely to have a lot of shit going on and I'll appreciate not having to guess if a given battle will work out or not
>a big part of the whole appeal of tactical games is getting hit with something unexpected and having to adapt and overcome.
The RNG is rerolled semi frequently though. So even if the prediction said one thing in one moment, it might end up saying a different thing when it's actually relevant. Dodges and crits and whatnot aren't set in stone.
No, the second the units connect(not the during move prediction) and all enemy assists are in place, the only way to reroll that outcome is by using assists yourself. But as we're saying, at that point you have complete information; all low hit percentages hitting or landing, everything that you should not know - that, to you, should be a chance of happening, which you should ponder on it's worth.
Imagine if every time you select a FE unit to attack, you're shown X percent to hit, but at the same time you are already told if that X percent will hit or miss. That's what's happening in this game.
>No, the second the units connect(not the during move prediction)
Yeah. But the moment unit connects you also can't retreat. And if that prediction differs from the prediction you had on the way forward. That is indeed one of those unexpected events you'd have to adapt to and overcome.
Anonymous
>But the moment unit connects you also can't retreat.
But you can L/R swap to different units if they are nearby. Oh, my thief will be hit by a 3% hit in this combat? Guess I'm swapping out.
The point is I should take the 3% chance, I would never not take that 3% chance for him to get hit, but if I know in advance that the 3% will hit, then I won't.

Allowing in-game saves at any point of the map is also pretty dumb tbh
>Imagine if every time you select a FE unit to attack, you're shown X percent to hit, but at the same time you are already told if that X percent will hit or miss. That's what's happening in this game.
This is kinda silly because it seems to be misunderstand how you're incentivized to play in FE. Yes, the battle forecast can isn't deterministic, and yes you can miss if hit chances are not literally perfect. But FE supplies so much detailed info, and there are so many ways to achieve extremely high or even perfect hit rates, that in practice you know how a turn will play out on the relevant factors.
Sure, you might miss - so simply position in such a way that if you miss, catastrophic failure or unit deaths don't occur. Are visible enemy ranges abusable too? The original FEs don't have them. Maybe we should have to count out tiles.
Maybe the solution is to cap hit rates at 70, so strategies are inherently reliable? Would that be a wise design decision?
Maybe you shouldn't be able to equip a better weapon that will kill an enemy in one round, as this is cheesy and abusable. You did say >you can adjust your equipment and strategies to get better outcomes
I guess I'm just not seeing the issue. You described what the goal of a strategy game is in textbook fashion.
Anonymous
>Are visible enemy ranges abusable too?
what I think is absolutely pussy shit that newer FE games do is that they got lines that flat out tell you who is going to get targetted by what. That's some next level hand holding.

It's just become a tactics game staple...UO does it too. I really never understood why it bothers anyone, I mainly use it as a shortcut to check if I'm entering enemy range. It's pretty obvious who is gonna get attacked and I'm always planning around that, so I don't get why it should bother anyone.

Because part of the strategy in a game is being aware, and you being alert and paying attention is part of the experience. Taking that away not only makes it so the game essentially plays itself, it denies players the opportunity to commit mistakes and learn from them.
Like, it's a strategy game and the strategic part ends up playing itself?

I swear just gamers want to be kicked in the dick. There is nothing wrong with UI conveniences, that's what you're talking about - a UI convenience. It's nothing any competent player should strategize around, it's just a visual perk. It's incredible, unthinkable, endlessly mindboggling that computer games can instantly calculate millions of operations per a second, and people (think they) want to return to long division with pencil and paper.
Play FE1 if you want a clunker of a game. I assure you it's not any more difficult by its archaic UI.
Anonymous
It's more a UI convenience, it's spelling you outright what's going to happen the next turn before it even happens. It's way beyond a simple visual perk, it flat out tells exactly you how the AI behaves. It tells you SO much without needing to commit at all to anything.
The issue is that it's something incompetent players will absolutely latch on to like gospel and instead of learning how to strategize themselves they're going to let the system do it for them.
And I can tell you this because I've played them all from FE1 all the way up to Engage, and the fun of these games, Unicorn Overlord included, is to think for yourself and coming up with your own personal solutions. Not for the game to tell you how to solve the game for you.
Anonymous
ok but by that logic, that's like saying you shouldn't see the statistics of a battle outcome before you battle because you should do the math manually and the fun behind the game is knowing internally how much damage your units do vs your enemy
3 months ago
Anonymous
Flat out spelling you the enemy AI's behavior is much different than displaying numbers on the screen, anon, and you know it. They're not equivalent at all.
However, you can just show me their defense and my attack, their speed and my speed and I can do the subtractions myself. In fact FE4 and FE5 did it like that and it was perfectly fine because the information is also presented clearly. It only seems like an inconvenience if you are afraid of not being able to adapt, when it's not something that's difficult to get used to either.
Look, you can try and double down all you want from here on, but the fact remains: the fun of the strategy games is in your head not in the game. The game presented before you is just a bunch of numbers in a map with fancy avatars. The true game is in the player's mind and solving the problems and challenges the game presents to you.
The more you take away from a player's agency in solving their problems, the more you take away from the game.

Okay, but not including 3H, can you legitimately name an instance of a game outright handholding me into saying THIS UNIT IS GOING TO SPECIFICALLY BE TARGETED BY 3 SPECIFIC ENEMIES WATCH OUT assuming I put an actual combatant in the range of enemies on accident assuming I didn't count the enemy ranges properly for some reason. Because it feels like you're not actually trying to discuss anything.

>it's spelling you outright what's going to happen the next turn before it even happens
It is not. See
It's not actually telling you that the unit will definitely be attacked. I know this because it shows the sight lines are shown for each unit that moves into range, even if they were already shown for a previous unit who has already moved in range.
It's telling you "you're entering enemy range now, and could be attacked." You still have to think about who you should and shouldn't put in range. It is the exact same thing, just more convenient.
It WILL tell you which unit the enemy is "thinking" about attacking, if you place the cursor over the enemy, but this obvious if you're not a fricking moron. Don't move your cleric that's getting doubled in range of the axe fighter with 40 attack, who big brain you got there. I generally don't factor idiots into whether I like a feature or not, I think only about what I want.

He's talking about Unicorn Overlord. In Fire Emblem you're only exclusively shown lines for which enemy the AI is going to target next turn. The only times this change is I believe with skills that deliberately change the targetting priority of enemies.
The enemy AI in any FE game uses predictable targetting AI, it's just a matter of removing trial and error from it and making it more obvious
It's also only 3H that precisely shows who will be targeted out of units in range, in Engage you only get a line showing you that the unit you're putting in range is a possible target
No, in Engage you're literally shown how it's going to happen and you can use skills like Chain Guard to capitalize on it.
Anonymous
>In Fire Emblem you're only exclusively shown lines for which enemy the AI is going to target next turn.
But this isn't true. It shows you the sight lines before moving into range ("caution - you're moving into range now), and it also shows you simple priority if you hover over a particular enemy. It's not detailed enough to plan a turn around or abuse.
We already know what FE AI likes to do, see this anon's description of its priorities
[...]
In Engage they won't show who gets prioritized, just who's in range and of whom (shown by the lines), in 3H you get the lines updated in real time and you can see who will be targeted by who
But again, arguing that this is suddenly "baby mode", when previously who got targeted was just as predetermined, just hidden from the player and determined by a bunch of AI priorities (like go for a possible kill first, then do as much damage as possibly usually or try to avoid getting countered), so this is just a really dumb complaint imo, this kind of UI stuff only helps the player figure out these kinds of rules faster
At best the sight lines can save you a simple oversight like moving your squishies in range of an axe homie, you can't manipulate it across multiple units
3 months ago
Anonymous
And to clarify, part of the reason the sight line info isn't detailed, is because the AI is all or nothing and has no self preservation or complex thinking. If you move a cleric in range of 5 enemies next to 2 of your combat units, it's not going to show any subtlety as to who's getting gangbanged. It's going to show ALL FIVE enemy units attacking the cleric. The game isn't even sure if an individual enemy will miss or not, so what else can it do but assume all 5 will attack lil' sis?

Because when my units enter a dangerous enemies' range, it should be a misjudgement on my part that the game punishes, not the game telling me "OH BY THE WAY, WATCH OUT LOL THIS UNIT WILL BE ATTACKED EH?".

Black person, visible movement ranges have been around since FE4. Global enemy ranges have been around since FE11. The sight lines are just a natural evolution of that. Why do you guys make mountains out of molehills like this. It's pure virtue signaling every time, about owning "le casuals." I'm not a casual, though, and I like having to fiddle with one less menu and to be able to focus on the tactics.

Visible movement range is fine. The issue is the arrows. I should have to think for myself if I believe that unit in range of the enemy will or will not be targeted. I should understand the game's priority targeting, not have it given to me on a silver platter.

It's telling you "you're entering enemy range now, and could be attacked." You still have to think about who you should and shouldn't put in range. It is the exact same thing, just more convenient.

I'm not talking about this game in particular, we were talking about general trends in UI prediction. The latest FE games straight out say which units will be flat out ignored by enemies, even while being in range.

>The latest FE games straight out say which units will be flat out ignored by enemies, even while being in range.
No??
At best they show you who is being prioritized. Usually it's a vulnerable unit like a dancer or healer that dies in one hit, or else it's the unit you actually want to be attacked. They can save you from a stupid obvious mistake, but they sure as hell can't provide any detailed, usable info on exactly who will be attacked. FE AI is simply not that smart, it goes for the kill whenever it can.

In Engage they won't show who gets prioritized, just who's in range and of whom (shown by the lines), in 3H you get the lines updated in real time and you can see who will be targeted by who
But again, arguing that this is suddenly "baby mode", when previously who got targeted was just as predetermined, just hidden from the player and determined by a bunch of AI priorities (like go for a possible kill first, then do as much damage as possibly usually or try to avoid getting countered), so this is just a really dumb complaint imo, this kind of UI stuff only helps the player figure out these kinds of rules faster

why does that shit even piss you off? the alternative is withholding information that you already have. there is literally nothing wrong with the game giving you visual clarity in a game about strategy.

Strategy game players are, ironically, inept at understanding why strategy games are designed the way they are, and why modern games have the conveniences they do. They'd make an awful unplayable failure of a game if given all the time and the resources to do so. Just look at FE romhacks.

The alternative is letting the player play the game instead of having it play itself.

I disagree. Veteran players would manually count how many tiles away most enemy units are to ensure that they're only in range of select enemies and newcomers for the most part don't know any better anyways. It's a QOL feature.

The enemy AI in any FE game uses predictable targetting AI, it's just a matter of removing trial and error from it and making it more obvious
It's also only 3H that precisely shows who will be targeted out of units in range, in Engage you only get a line showing you that the unit you're putting in range is a possible target
>with UO, you know exactly how things are going to unfold ahead of time
It's hilarious that you mention Fire Emblem as a paragon of shake-ups. I can't think of an SRPG that gives you more pertinent information than FE, it's one of the key traits fans praise it for - the data is all there for your eyes to feast upon, so if you frick up it's on you. You're constantly virtually fricking omniscient in Fire Emblem games.
You know exactly how a turn will play out with a bit of simple arithmetic and can always play at advantage. In what way is it different from UO? Hell, in UO it's harder to know things, because there's a lack of detail in the forecast, so you really have to understand the battle mechanics, initiative, the skill triggers and interactions, etc.
Only difference is UO gives you all the info easily where Fire Emblem you have to check moves and stats. It's way easier to get into UO, plus there is no permadeath which is what keeps people away from these kinds of games.
The actual "problem" with UO is that you can save as many times as you like mid-chapter savescum infinitely and yeah, no permadeath. No one's complaining about that though, because if you took that away the game would actually get somewhat inconvenient. No let's complain about non-issues instead.

I believe Fire Emblem also let you savescum

The idea of Fire Emblem is that you restart the whole map when a unit dies, unless you play on casual.
Sometimes the map is so long, you just let your unit stay dead.

A shame then that the games are designed so that you lose out on tons of unique game content if a character dies.

This is a very different game though. Stat growth is much slower and the rock/paper/scissors element is much stronger, so channeling all xp into two to four super units who oneshot everything isn't nearly as viable. And that's disregarding stamina. Permadeath wouldn't suit this game.

I think the only thing the game does poorly now is allowing you to change equipment on the fly, but even that may not mean much later in the game since it may not salvage a fight. Also, not sure the game needed a Jagen unit since you can still give EXP to allies in his group and no permadeth which defeats the purpose of that kind of unit. Would have made more sense to lose that guy over Scarlett.
The information is telling me the chances for the hit to land or to miss.
The battle predictions tell me the result of the roll before the roll happens. It's information you should not have.
found a decent glitch with mantlet
you can put up a mantle next to a boss and initiate battle that way
you now have +50% defense and extra 3 stamina vs bosses
if you position your allies next to it you can simply swap allies with the unit inside the mantlet and they'll also get the bonuses
bosses and the mantlet are static, how are you supposed to initiate battle?
mantlet also stacks with items like defensive draught
no way that's intentional
>you can run over and lock the gate before starting the battle to prevent the scripted reinforcements during the Melisandre fight
This game is awesome.
>"Those mammaries are optimally large, though I am not a chauvinistic chud so I would never care for such shallow things. Trans rights are human rights. We must stand with Palestine."
I wish mods would just ban homosexuals like this.
Like, I remember m00t b***hing because "oh hurhurhur Ganker can't even do the simple thing and talk about videogames!" None of these fricking morons ever get banned from coming in here on their boomer normie bullshit, though.
Anon, she's fricking dead. The poor boy's trying to make a dead person proud. What growing up without affirmation does to a sod. Check his entry in the archives.
Apparently the thieves can be recruited, but I don't think their sob story holds water. It may be true, but these frickers were killing people with glee and laughing about the slaughter. I hope the homosexual's sister is real, recovers, and disowns him for being a psychopath.
>but I don't think their sob story holds water.
Me neither. I spared them on my final save that I will use for the complete game, but 100% I think the story is bullshit they've made up. Maybe the sister even is the gang's leader.
She seems a bit pissed and doesn't give you extra Divine Shards but other than that, nothing happens.
I think choices not mattering that much is my only disappointment with this game. If I pick one guy for my team, his arch-nemesis should be pissed off and not join me, he shouldn't just gloss it over.
I'd be skeptical of the whole thing if it wasn't for what gammel says after you let him go. Him doing a "I'll never forget this" pretty much seals that it's true to me.
Out of curiosity how many people in this thread who are going to play the game in full Japanese? No localization shitposting I'm just curious about this.
I unironically tend to give localizations a go. Like if I'm gonna say the English dub is shit it won't be because some random frick-o told me online, I'd rather see for myself. I have been pleasantly surprised in the past. For all it's flaws Fire Emblem Three Houses did the job well for the game it wanted to be, and later Live A Live remake had fantastic direction and dialogue.
Still I believe one of the reasons English dubs suck so often it's because English voice overs and localization is still very primitive, relative to other languages.
Languages like Japanese or Spanish have to voice overs not only anime and cartoons, but also high profile movies, serialized dramas, live theatric performances, etc. Actors gain not only a wide range of characters, but also a wide range of tones and context to act over.
Since a lot og media is produced in English voice actors don't get that experience that other languages get.
If we never support English localization and point out when they get it right, they will keep putting out sloppy jobs because they will never really understand what they need to do.
It's the same, realize that when localizers write dialogue on these kind of games with heavy voice acting it's done with the intent in mind that someone is going to speak it outloud
I agree, so I usually give dubs a chance even if they are shit from the outset.
Out of curiosity how many people in this thread who are going to play the game in full Japanese? No localization shitposting I'm just curious about this.
Sadly, my JP skills are still around elementary school level, at best. So English it shall be.
I've just been exploring and trying various paths to see what can be found.
And what I've settled on is that I will probably make a beeline towards Selvie. Grab the Kingsblade manuscript. Save Yahna. Grab the Kingsblade. Recruit Sharon&Ochlys. Then recruit Berenice. And then save Scarlett as quickly as possible.
This is the current path I am currently betting on. But there are some other missions I might end up doing first too. Strongly considering recruiting Melisandre.
I have less than 2 hours left in demo. Where should I try going next? I just recruited Yahna. There is some level 10 area up north but none of my characters are that high level yet.
>need 30 of those stones to fix the bridge
Can you even do this in demo? Those resources never seem to respawn and I used some stones to rebuild towns.
Do we like generic Hires? Or are they a waste of space/exp?
Gameplay wise they're probably pretty good. I imagine. But since I want to get as many Rapport Conversations as I possibly can in my first play-through, I might end up ignoring them.
>But since I want to get as many Rapport Conversations as I possibly can in my first play-through
just spam gifts and food, you don't have to actually use anyone to get rapports
Generics are somehow better out of the box because you can tailor them to what you want. Their only downside is they don't have Rapport(?) with other characters
>Their only downside is they don't have Rapport(?) with other characters
They won't be able to have conversations, but they can still build "rapport" and give stat boosts.
It'll take a while until you can afford to field only generics due to the honor cost, but otherwise there's nothing stopping you from playing with only generics
Sometimes there's talk conversations certain unique characters can trigger and Alain will probably get some powerful story boosts with the rings and his chosen partner, but so far he's still never mandatory to deploy
They're amazing. I did Yahna's mission after Auch's in my current run, and I wanted two Wizards to make the left armor gauntlet a series of clean kills, so I recruited a generic just for that. Generics present another dimension of strategic space to think about. There's also a fun optimization game in slotting them into your team and figuring out how to level them up without grinding or slowing down.
they're identical to unique units as long as they're the same level and growth type, so in practice they'll usually be more optimized, but so far hired generics start at lower levels compared to unique units you get through quests in the same region
The game's easy enough to go harem no matter how unoptimized. But I will have a Calvary only squad, only because the thought of running plebians down on a horse excites me.
I have Alain with Travis and Alain keeps defending him all the time. Does this only happen when Travis fails to evade by himself or is Alain just completely moronic?
NTA but I do like how dodge tanks are handled in this game. They have naturally high evade and a skill that evades if they were to get hit, and their first attack is to steal more charges for their evade skill.
>when clive chain-kills an entire enemy squad by himself
Frick. That's satisfying. I am not gay so I've got no desire to. But if I was a woman, I'd probably rub it to him.
I get the feeling Clive will be popular with the female portion of the fans.
>I am not gay so I've got no desire to. But if I was a woman, I'd probably rub it to him. >I am not gay
That's like the gayest thing I've heard in my life.
Mordon (Warriors) can do that too once you've killed the frontline and there's a soft backline for him to Assaulting Blow one shot over and over, but I don't think any one is rubbing anything to him.
I decided to post this to reddit first since I wasn't sure if my post would be too long for Ganker, but I also want to link it here because yesterday an Anon in these threads tried to explain the same thing but fricked up so hard that I didn't understand what he actually meant, so I performed my own experiments with the commands and conditions and wanted to share these results with you
https://www.reddit.com/r/UnicornOverlord/comments/1b34ysz/how_tactics_work_in_regards_to_priority_and_logic/?
It will attack a caster if applicable, if not it will attack infantry, and if there's no infantry either it will revert to default targeting (closest enemy, aka the one directly opposite of the unit)
For your purposes you'd have to do
This command will look for a caster first, and if there's none it will look for infantry, and if there's none it will look for flyers, and if there's none it will revert to default targeting rules
tactics really need OR and XOR toggles, also why the hell does it read condition 2 first, that doesn't even make any sense even as a moronic nip (unless they actually labelled condition 2 as condition 1 if you play in japanese)
>tactics really need OR and XOR toggles
They do. For the longest time I was bothered by skills not activating when I wanted them to be "use this if SCOUT or if FLYER are available", not realizing I was telling the game to look for flying scouts to activate (which don't exist, at least in the demo).
Because Prio lines are not exclusive, if there's no applicable targets it will revert still execute the command, but revert to default targeting
This is in contrast to Exclusive conditions, which will skip the line if there's no viable targets
If you want 3 targeting conditions on one skill you have to awkwardly break it up into 2 lines
So if I want an attack to look for multiple conditions it would go like
attack, caster > infantry
attack, flyer > scout
attack, lowest % hp
Would above look for infantry > caster > scout > flyer > lowest % hp?
That means when almost everyone is using similar conditions like
Attack: Prio Armored
Attack: Lowest %HP
That fricks them over since if there are no armored targets it will simply go for default targeting and skip Lowest %HP?
Anonymous
Pretty sure Attack: Prio Armored -> Lowest%HP still works in combination.
Anonymous
Yes. For what I think you're trying to do you'd need
Attack "Armored"
Attack "Lowest %HP"
This will attack armor if applicable, otherwise it will just attack whoever has the lowest HP
If you want to attack the armor with the lowest HP, you'd need to combine them into 1 line
3 months ago
Anonymous
>That fricks them over since if there are no armored targets it will simply go for default targeting and skip Lowest %HP?
Correct. But only because your first line reads
Attack: Prio Armored
instead of simply
Attack: Armored
But you could also always just do
Pretty sure Attack: Prio Armored -> Lowest%HP still works in combination.
in order to attack the armored unit with the lowest HP. Or in the case of there being no armored enemy, still attack the unit with the lowest HP.
Should I battle enemies in the overworld before doing the side missions, or does it not really matter? After clearing the mission against the bandits with the archer guy, all the overworld enemies in the area disappeared.
So what is Berenice's deal with Travis anyway? Usually these conflicts stem from the older party in a dangerous occupation trying to protect the stubborn younger party by pissing them off so they would willingly stop hanging around them. Am I not reading some codex entries or something?
>Is it because they both start with B?
That's one part of it. I think another factor is that right before you meet Berenice, you have to do the Bruno map. At the end of that, you get a flashback where Travis' sister is using the sellsword body (-minus muscular thighs). You then immediately meet a woman with the same body and a similar name, that looks like she could be his sister. I didn't get it confused myself, but I can see how it happens.
Can you change difficulty mid way play? I'm thinking of starting a new demo run and then play on easy/casual/journalist mode for the content I've already done and then turn back expert for the stuff that is new.
Risk of forced Scarlett romance path or random Vanillaware shipping is too high
You can be patient for a week, it's not like the art would be finished by that time anyway
What do you think Alain's mother's reaction will be when she finds out that her 140 year old court sorceress has been draining her son dry every night for most of the campaign?
so does the game get more involved than just autoplaying/ auto battling units ? because from the demos first couple fights it seemed like nothing about strategy or tactics
>Your game is not sufficiently challenging me and I'm unwilling to take the basic steps provided to be challenged by your game, therefore your game is bad
As if your cope phrase "artificial difficulty" doesn't tell the full story by itself
You should feel very threatened by a man who puts combat practicality before form.
Most men would have that convex portion on their chest. Because Galerius is so tall, he had a custom armor that placed it in his guts, which is what most men are going to be swinging for on him. It's a clever design.
The belly shield is also smart, if you look at the weapon he's using. His weakness is someone getting inside of his reach and then stabbing exposed/vulnerable parts. The belly shield makes it much harder to reach these areas.
Why is this game getting charged with so many "autobattling" accusations. But not say, a game like Disgaea?
I am genuinely curious.
Even ignoring the map movement itself. With every enemy encounter. Unit selection (in case several units are present), formation decisions. Skill priorities and order of operations. All of it is relevant.
How is that different from choosing a unit and your preferred skills in other games of the genre, like Disgaea or SRW or whatever else?
I am playing it on the Switch.
Chances are I won't ever play it handheld. I don't play handheld often. But I want to be able to.
I really like being able to play games handheld when I do. And in those cases having good games available to be played handheld is very much appreciated.
Surprisingly no, even in the full platemail era you wanted to carry as little weight as possible. A thick belly shield strapped around your waist would weigh you down a hell of a lot and would make it difficult to ride horses. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be effective, just that it probably wouldn't be preferred as an option for a fighter who needed to move around a lot on the battlefield.
Being given perfect information about an enemy's turn turns the game into a puzzle game like Into the Breach, which was a great fricking game by the way, I just don't want every single game to be like that.
Even with all the UI conveniences you still need to pay attention to enemy unit composition, if you send a squad that gets hard countered and it makes contact with the enemy you're fricked, there's no way to preview battle outcome like in FE, once you''ve made contact with the enemy then that's it
I will save my blonde big titty wife and she will be in my Lord's unit until the end of the game. Who cares if she gets powercrept. She will always give me those sweet little heals and do magic damage
Isn't she a unique class that is a Cleric but better?
All of the heroines have unique classes aside from Virginia because she shares hers with mom who I doubt will be recruitable even if she's alive
Is that true? Who are the heroines?

>Tell me. Where can I buy the card game digitally?
????? people will scan all the cards and then you use a service that prints custom mtg cards or whatever, which are widespread
you don't know about not wasting money because you're a fricking slop golem consumer paypig
that's exactly why you're being called out for one. how much is that fricking card game you're going to play 0 times in real life worth?
you will never play it with another person, you don't have a person to play it with.
>you will never play it with another person, you don't have a person to play it with.
I play YGO at the local card shop once a month. You don't know me.
ah so you're pretending that you didn't know you could get the cards custom printed because you probably already use that stuff
or do you paypig for ygo cards too? I heard ygo is the big paypig thing these days in that sphere of products.
>ah so you're pretending that you didn't know you could get the cards custom printed
You need scans in order to print them. Who do you think scan the cards?
It's fans like me who do it.
My theory of quantum piracy states that if you don't do it, someone else will be always exist who will do it
A lot of card games don't get scanned. I promise you.
oh ok. carry on then
i don't know about that stuff. thank you also, then

Don't worry anon, all my games are bought with the money of some onions guy paying me rent for my old apartment since he was busy having an experience instead of buying his own home

do you think I don't have disposable income? Why can't I do what I want?
I just want the CDs man…

Pretty lame honestly.
Since Melisandre exists maybe there'll be romance with other characters, but until proven otherwise you can probably expect those girls to be the closest thing to pre-destined picks
OR the worst case scenario which is that you'll just get Scarlett and nobody else
Thread theme
>nothing below FF cup allowed in my army
Vanillaware are gigantic romancegays. How will it fit the ring of maiden system though?
Option 1 - It's a gameplay only mechanic and lol you romance who they tell you to in the story
Option 2 - If you give the ring to one of their handful of pre-approved girls it's romance otherwise it's platonic
Might be like Three Houses where you marry them at the end. That said, I think in an interview they talked about the story being more about personal relationships so it may happen towards the end and it gives you some kind of buff when your wife is paired with the MC
Would be cool if it changed MC's class in some way
Like being paired with Scarlett turned him into a holy paladin
I just wish we could've had romances for npcs too.
I want another anime eugenics sim, damnit!
I think they're gonna take the page off fire emblem and keep it to epilogues without affecting much the actual plot of the game.
Wheres the leak
The GIF that saved Unicorn Overlord
And my GIF that saved PalWorld
Do we have a gif of her walking animation? I like it.
Why did they hold George back?
Que?
The hot characters are so dialed back.
This was another guy's project, George didn't fully work on it outside of supervision stuff and obviously he wasn't art lead.
I don't want any of the popular girls that are wholesale, who is the most obscure, forgotten girl in the demo?
Monica on account of the fact that she is blatantly shipped with another dude
Chloe was at the start of the demo and almost no one talks about her.
She and lex melt into the background surprisingly quickly
Maybe they get more dialogue in Albion? Not sure if they actually from there...
Nina is the one I haven't seen fanart of.
Millie
>you can give the poison weapon to the MC
Fricking thank you VW, I love when the fighting guy (fighters, knights, heavy machine guys etc) use poisons to even out fights out against monsters and villains but it's almost never an option
So, level ups are fixed, right?
These +1HP level ups on Lex is making me extremely frustrated, coming from Fire Emblem.
They're fixed yeah
Yes Lex sucks
Very annoying.
Getting Mag Atk on characters that can't use it is also frustrating.
yes
The black market dealer has potions you can use to change growth rate like when hiring mercs. Lex has Hardy and Offensive but you can change it to double Hardy for more HP gains.
>Battle Ogre and Tactics Ogre have completely different combat systems
I kept wondering why so many people kept referencing Ogre and I was like, yeah I guess I remember there being a chessboard aesthetic but seems like a stretch
(the "Tactics" part should have given it away)
I cannot wait for this game, anons. We will have to force leeks now.

Wondering if this game's for me.

my PS4 is stored away and my Switch has drift. I'll wait and emulate the full release.
Nintendo will fix your joycons for free and send back within a week. Just so you know.
oh, really? well I'll be damned, I'll look into that. Thanks anon!
I sent all 4 of my joycons, 3 had drift and one was actually broken (my fault) and they fixed all 4 and on the repair sheet it said they found "no issues." Nintendo knows how shit their joycons are after the backlash and constant repairs they had to do.
hope I have the same luck. Had to buy a replacement pair of joycons but now one of those has drift too. And the same with a PS4 gamepad.
Meanwhile my Gamecube gamepads, which are old enough to vote, all still work perfectly.
I've done it twice and know people who did the same, all free.
I left threads for a day and still no leak, damn
if you were gonna leave you should've dedicated that day to being the one who leaked it
Faster.
I hope there's another cute small girl like Nina we haven't seen yet.
I wouldn't count on it
>Scarlett - Albion heroine
>Yunifi - Bastora heroine
>Virginia - Drakenhold heroine
>Eltolinde & Rosalinde - Elfheim heroine
These will be your romance choices (probably)...pick well
gonna breed my cousin
You will choose the cousin and keep the bloodline pure, won't you anon?
Don't care, more Melisandre for me
Yeah girls are nice but I'm going to ring a cute boy instead.
You should ring Clive while Monica watches.
Nah not a fan of ntr, I'm mostly leaning towards Travis or the angel.
You're cucking travis's sister THOUGH
His sister is a c**t.
>Eltolinde & Rosalinde
Both?
They are separate characters and you can only give the ring to one
They're twins.
Leek?
Imagine if giving rings has no romantic meaning at all and the only romantic interest for Alain is his childhood friend Scarlett. Vanillaware wouldnt make it this boring, right?
More likely than you think
Not giving Alain free reign to frick whoever he wants is understandable because Vanillaware actually likes crafting their romance stuff to an extent
Locking Alain to a single girl would suck ass though especially when the roster is so big and especially when they're drawing inspiration from Fire Emblem which is so big on picking your own lately
Nah. I do think that people may be SOL for any character that isn't in
list, since I do think there will be character endings tied to the ring, but obviously not all of them will be romantic since even Josef can receive the ring.
Anyone else gonna try to make everyone look edgy as frick?
you consume 1 mirror per use and it's 20k right?
frick that
probably won't be as bad in the long run, 30k probably won't be that hard to build up later on, plus you get 1 for beating the scarlett rescue mission.
Having every unique unit colour customised is your reward for not having to spend all your money on consumable items.
What if you get an infinite-use mirror as a reward on starting NG+?
you also get to change the growth schemes so it may be worth doing regardless
I'm doing red and gold for my holy empire.
Absolutely but since everyone is doing that and I'm no regular edgelord, I'm a vampiregay, I'll probably try to use purple instead of black
>Threads are all about the characters and gameplay
>Not about the food
I fear the worst for Vanillaware...
We only get to see 3 dishes in the demo because they're tied to the big cities and we can only visit 1 in the demo
I don't think japs are interested in ripping the free demo for a nsp tbh.
Thank god you can recruit the plague mask clerics.
Why do games have such a hardon for plaguemasks
They are cool
They're cool.
Saw a really cool renfaire outfit using one this year. Dude had a plague mask, scythe, black robes. That wasn't anything to write home about, but he also had a bluetooth speaker on him somewhere, playing Gregorian chants.
I mean. I get you.
But also. Why wouldn't a literal plague doctor during a medieval plague, have a plague mask?
FRICK YES
what's the difference between expert and tactical besides damage/hp?
Expert's timer is shorter
Bad guy land's plan seems like conquering the continent is just a means to an end and not actually relevant to what they're doing long term
only 10 items per battle
>you can literally surround the capital in this demo
>enemy army never even tries to counterattack
Is their army somewhere else or is there just no system in this game where you need to defend your borders? You can even post guards in towns you liberate.
Had this track on repeat while driving to work
Too distracted by cousin to post track….
?si=fnGKLQqQjKv5LZKb
The layered vocals and the vibrato is giving me some Ar Tonelico vibes.
The sound track is honestly really good in general. If the full game has even more stellar tracks then this might end up being one of if not potentially Vanillaware's strongest OST.
Those dynamic attacks when the orchestra picks up make my brain itch.
what track is that? the sound of you fapping to virginia?
troonslation
older cousin erotic
Considering that every other time he pops up you can tell him "it's fine bro" if he does I'm sure you'll be able to go to the other areas anyways.
In my mind I was expecting it to be more like when you try to go towards Bastora/Elfheim/Drakenhold in the demo where he tells you that you need to rescue Scarlett first
>There's unique dialogue for walking up to the 4 gate guards

Gilbert won't cuck us out of our cousin, right bros
hello fellow striker
>no leak
good morning i hate europeans
I understand the average nintendo customer has a room temperature iq but you do understand that in order to have a week early leak for something that isn't pokemon and/or very popular someone would have to get a copy directly from a manufacturer(aka stealing) and upload the xci, losing theyr job at best in the process, do you really think anyone is as moronic as you are and will do that? Use you brain, do more than waste oxygen and take up space with your life, hm? 🙂
do you think all the copies teleport straight from the cartridge maufacturer into retail stores on release day or something
They arrive a few days(3 to 5) before release on average you clown, i know more than a few store owners, are you done being moronic now?
>i know more than a few store owners
unironic 'my uncle works at nintendo' moment not to mention completely moronic because the pokemon sm leak was stolen from a warehouse not a retail store
embarrassing
Are you "pretending"? I have quite literally said someone would have to steal a copy.
Yes you are embarassing, i'm really disappointed just like your parents
first you said someone would have to steal it directly from a manufacturer, which is moronic because there's an entire supply chain between the manufacturer and the consumer where a copy can get stolen
then you backpedaled and said A-ACSHUALLY I MEANT RETAILERS AND ALSO I KNOW ALL THE DEETS FROM RETAILERS THEMSELVES which is also moronic because you still forgot about the rest of the supply chain including distributors and their warehouses where leaks have come from before
Are you autistic? Legitimate question.
>no more arguments
concession accepted
Concession on what? Answer the question, it's a simple yes or no, seems to me you either have the literacy of a toddler or have actual issues you should seek medical attention for, neither of which are my problem. 🙂
it's patently clear that you no longer have any arguments when all you can do is ask if the other side is moronic
come back when you're actually able to articulate why you aren't wrong, or not considering your penchant for backpedalling
you do understand the store thing is about how early you'd be able to get a copy by purchasing it and the stealing it is from warehouses, yes?
you might want to go back to grade school if you are this illiterate anon, fricking hell
>you do understand the store thing is about how early you'd be able to get a copy by purchasing it
lol now it's 'actually i meant they arrive at the warehouses 3 - 5 days before release on average' when warehouse leaks have happened more than a week in advance
just stop typing at this point
no? it arrives to stores that early from what i got from what the first anon said? are you actually moronic? lmao
are you moronic? did you actually read my posts? why would that matter when leaks come from warehouses? fricking lmfao
could be for all i know, you definitely are though lmao
don't reply to posts if you aren't even going to read the reply chain and understand what's being talked about moron
no i definitely got it lmao
holy shit you're amazing
Beyond the fact that is not what anyone said, do you think everyone is the same person?
Seek medical attention asap.
so you admit talking about retail stores is completely irrelevant and moronic because leaks come from warehouses
What? When did ever say that wasn't the case? I said that a week or more before the release has to be from manufacturers, aka on the way to distributors warehouses or retail stores, and then specified that if that doesn't happen you can generally get it a few days early in the actual stores, are you actually incapable of reading, do i have to spell it out for you like a child because you'll miss any obvious implication? What is wrong with you?
do you think the totk leak that came out more than a week before release came from manufacturer? holy shit you are actually moronic and have no concept of lead times of the supply chain
Sorry i'm done, can't be more clear than i have already been, you are honestly appaling.
I don't think stealing it from a distributor's warehouse counts as getting it directly from a manufacturer as you said.
you said here
that someone would have to get a copy directly from a manufacturer, which implies stealing it from the factory that produces the cartridges. distributors and everyone else in the supply chain aren't the manufacturer so it's pretty clear you misspoke initially
It implies getting it from the factory yes, when or how is irrelevant, as they are shipped from it so yes you could get them from a truck or anywhere else they end up after, why would i specify that when it would be(i believe) fairly obvious?
the distributor is not the manufacturer. claiming that when you said 'directly from the manufacturer', you also mean the distributors and/or the rest of the supply chain is rather stupid and disingenuous
No, not really if you can understand basic commerce. When do you think copies leave warehouses from manufacturers? You do know storage costs money so you move thing as quickly as possible with as little time being idle anywhere as you can yes?
What background in distribution do you have?
the manufacturer doesn't own the warehouses in brazil or wherever these third-world apes who steal games before release come from moron. none of that is even relevant. why are you talking about manufacturer warehouses?
>Brazil
Yeah we're done, you're moronic
i see we're back to tired old nonarguments again like
if you get it from the distributor's warehouse, how is that 'directly from the manufacturer'? are you moronic? can you even backpedal properly?
Man, you're fricking moronic because you imply it's ok to steal big release like Pokemon and Zelda, but nobody is going to risk stealing this game.
Also, the manufacturers don't keep all the copies in the world to themselves, they are shipped to multiple warehouses, which presents plenty of opportunity to get a copy. The game is sitting in some box on some warehouse shelf for days already.
the battle predictions break the game
it's like seeing the dice before they roll
you can adjust your equipment and strategies to get better outcomes
hope it gets disabled for expert mode
And then an enemy provides support and fricks up all the numbers.
moron.
No, that's actually how it works. Everything gets rerolled if they get support.
This also works for your own supports, though. The real utility of supports isn't the damage. It's that it's basically rolling with advantage. You get to choose between the two rng outcomes.
Battle predictions aren't the problem. The problem is being allowed to switch gear.
switching equip on the fly is the most nonsensical thing, I'm not gonna be doing that, I'm not a big fan of predictions until I attack a group with the thief and it spoils me that he's getting hit three times with 20% hit rate.
Speaking of stat ups I hoarded most of mine as I couldn't decide who to give them to.
What if you don't have anything to swap to?
Making sure that you do is your insurance. But it's not without drawbacks either.
i mean if you didn't know the outcome and it turned out to be bad, you would just reload a save and try another nearby unit. that's just the same thing with extra steps
You did say
>you can adjust your equipment and strategies to get better outcomes
I guess I'm just not seeing the issue. You described what the goal of a strategy game is in textbook fashion.
Not for the game to tell you how to solve the game for you.
ok but by that logic, that's like saying you shouldn't see the statistics of a battle outcome before you battle because you should do the math manually and the fun behind the game is knowing internally how much damage your units do vs your enemy
It is not. See
It WILL tell you which unit the enemy is "thinking" about attacking, if you place the cursor over the enemy, but this obvious if you're not a fricking moron.
No, in Engage you're literally shown how it's going to happen and you can use skills like Chain Guard to capitalize on it.
At best the sight lines can save you a simple oversight like moving your squishies in range of an axe homie, you can't manipulate it across multiple units
It used to be
>"Oh frick, I forgot this unit in the enemy's range because I'm dumb, frick frick frick"
Now it's
>"noooo anon look, your fragile unit is getting close to danger! Don't do it!"
Sometimes the map is so long, you just let your unit stay dead.
ironman FE is much more fun and much more interesting
A shame then that the games are designed so that you lose out on tons of unique game content if a character dies.
I feel too guilty to let them stay dead.
>I want less information in my strategy game
The information is telling me the chances for the hit to land or to miss.
The battle predictions tell me the result of the roll before the roll happens. It's information you should not have.
Berenice's legs!
>Berenice
More like Verynice.
Why are her breasts so unbelievably huge in her chibi art?
found a decent glitch with mantlet
you can put up a mantle next to a boss and initiate battle that way
you now have +50% defense and extra 3 stamina vs bosses
if you position your allies next to it you can simply swap allies with the unit inside the mantlet and they'll also get the bonuses
Not interested in cheese strats.
likewise but I was bored so I'm trying a bunch of stuff for fun
Is that even unintentional?
bosses and the mantlet are static, how are you supposed to initiate battle?
mantlet also stacks with items like defensive draught
no way that's intentional
>you can run over and lock the gate before starting the battle to prevent the scripted reinforcements during the Melisandre fight
This game is awesome.
When leak
I don't know how the frick im going to get through this week bros.. I need it now.
I'd look up how to comatose myself for 7 days but then I'd probably be put on a watchlist.
>"Those mammaries are optimally large, though I am not a chauvinistic chud so I would never care for such shallow things. Trans rights are human rights. We must stand with Palestine."
>schizo failed with translation drama so now he's attacking people for buying the game
Sad tbh
And morons keep biting. I don't know how can people be so stupid.
Not surprised honestly, reeks of desperation
I wish mods would just ban homosexuals like this.
Like, I remember m00t b***hing because "oh hurhurhur Ganker can't even do the simple thing and talk about videogames!" None of these fricking morons ever get banned from coming in here on their boomer normie bullshit, though.
We need thread IDs like on 5ch. It will make schizos significantly harder to shitpost.

Janitors failing to do their job again
>Another schizo
Add him to the list
So what's the story with Auch's mom?
Huge b***h. We're talking planet sized.
Anon, she's fricking dead. The poor boy's trying to make a dead person proud. What growing up without affirmation does to a sod. Check his entry in the archives.
So is that sister those two bandits talk about real? I executed one of them for taking that cleric hostage.
Who knows
she's real and she cucks you out of being able to frick your cousin
Apparently the thieves can be recruited, but I don't think their sob story holds water. It may be true, but these frickers were killing people with glee and laughing about the slaughter. I hope the homosexual's sister is real, recovers, and disowns him for being a psychopath.
>but I don't think their sob story holds water.
Me neither. I spared them on my final save that I will use for the complete game, but 100% I think the story is bullshit they've made up. Maybe the sister even is the gang's leader.
How will that angel react if you let that bandit go?
She seems a bit pissed and doesn't give you extra Divine Shards but other than that, nothing happens.
I think choices not mattering that much is my only disappointment with this game. If I pick one guy for my team, his arch-nemesis should be pissed off and not join me, he shouldn't just gloss it over.
Hope you won't regret it
She’s just like “...are you serious?” and then proceeds to not bring it up again.
I'd be skeptical of the whole thing if it wasn't for what gammel says after you let him go. Him doing a "I'll never forget this" pretty much seals that it's true to me.
>collector's edition for switch now out of stock on amazon
go on without me bros
I just ordered mine today from best buy.
oh hey, it is there. thanks anon, even if it gets here later on i bought it so i'll just emulate it day one
Good pay piggies
Something I've observed - in most of the promotional material we see only the girl of that region with Alain in main story cutscenes
>Demo makes it seem like Scarletts sure to win the Alain bowl
>It's actually his Cousin who wins.
I would kneel so fricking hard.
This angel's video is out.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s8IcyGtUVuE
Seems like he's a unique cleric type.
Wait, that's a guy? Uh oh...
Angels and femboys go hand in hand.
Does Sanatio have any lines in the dub trailers? Even a grunt or something would do to confirm.
They're voiced by a woman who typically voices children and effeminate males
Voice is ambiguous too.
The twist here is that Sanatio is the heroine(male) being shown off.
I cannot for the life of me know what Sanatio is
It's clearly a male name, but the model is an androginous girl.
it's called a twink
fujoshi bait with nigel for sure
twinks don't have breasts.
Why does he have breast, wtf?
She's a girl, literally look at her breasts.
so this is the new cope after Lex was confirmed male I guess
Those are pecs, dude is fit under that outfit.
>breasts
>Another troony after 13 flopinel
OHNONO VANILLAWAREBROS
>promoted shield loses the coat of arms
0/10 game
thank god
coat of arms only look good on hoplites, i dunno why the frick they look so out of place on other classes
adjust the colors
can't adjust the borders which are the main issue
Now that I think about it. Yahna is in all the promotional screen shots of the Elf land isn't she?
Alcina is her successor so that's probably why
Also recruiting Yahna is a main story quest, not a skippable quest
the only entrance to the elf forest is through her territory
I mean, I assume if you REALLY wanted to force it, you could go around using boats but I doubt they'd let you. You need Yahna
That hymn?
Me
IRAASHAIMASE
KYUTE
why is the cousin so hot
i like the art style
do you think my OC would fit in with this game?
I wasn't talking about dub.
It's the same, realize that when localizers write dialogue on these kind of games with heavy voice acting it's done with the intent in mind that someone is going to speak it outloud
I agree, so I usually give dubs a chance even if they are shit from the outset.
Sadly, my JP skills are still around elementary school level, at best. So English it shall be.
Ever since I heard Yahna is voiced by Aoi Yuuki I decided to play with japanese voices.
Why do people still misunderstand what I meant even though I wrote full Japanese
because the average person is functionally illiterate anon, hence
>full jp
becomes
>jp audio
Probably since no one speaks japanese but you so it doesn't parse that you mean "even the text".
>but you
??
Because everyone misunderstood the question.
I will. I am not playing the demo and just browsing these threads because no one leaked the jp nsp.
leak? but it's already out, you can just download it from the eshop
pcgay, please understand
>lesbians are canon
Alain and Lex are men.
Look between these two.
>Hidden prostitutes
Well shit. Sharons going to be smited hard by god.
I mean considering the ending of GrimGrimoire I wouldn't consider some lesbos all that odd for Vanillaware.
Ochlys in the back between Alain and Lex
Does anyone have a youtube link for the theme of the final mission of the demo?
What's with the troony starting fights with everyone in this thread?
Leak doko
It looks boring as frick. Just port Odin Sphere. This thread is just blinded by weeb shit.
I'm like 15 hours into the demo and still unlocked like two regions. How did people do all this in 5 hours?
pausing and easy mode
Skip all cutscenes. Skip all battle animations. Skip as much as you can of stages to b line towards the boss. Lower difficulty.
Basically, they are barely even playing the game. It's the price you pay to try to get as far as possible.
Or just cheat the demo timer out and enjoy the experience.
>how did people do all this in 5 hours
No shit but I was specifically answering this question.
i did everything in demo on expert by mapping my route in previous runs and skipping every animation and cutscene
?si=AbOx4MSr413fEXAe
I have less than 2 hours left in demo. Where should I try going next? I just recruited Yahna. There is some level 10 area up north but none of my characters are that high level yet.
Spend 2 hours doing anal play with Yahna in her tower.
Clear out the east
Try freezing the timer.
>need 30 of those stones to fix the bridge
Can you even do this in demo? Those resources never seem to respawn and I used some stones to rebuild towns.
spam mining
>mining
I didnt even know I could do something like that. Should have paid attention.
It's at a predefined map location, there'll probably be one per region
You can get rocks and angel shards from mining so it's a good way to get Ochys quickly too
Probably if you mine them up. because resource nods take a while to respawn.
You can buy them at the town north of Auch's mission or mine them up
Use the quarry.
It's pointless anyway because you can't go over the center of the map.
>It's pointless anyway because you can't go over the center of the map.
you get a fat chunk of renown for it
By the time we get to rescue her she would've been raped into an unrecognizable mound of meat.
>12 days left
WHAT? I THOUGHT IT WAS 9
>what's a release countdown
Anon, he posted an older image...
WHAT? 4 DAYS PASSED IN A BLINK OF AN EYE?
It's called being old
*transports you back in time*
I hate Vanillaware food, it looks too fricking good.
>*transports you back in time*
I want a demo so bad!
STOP IT, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A WEEK AWAY.
I hope there's a mod to turn off the timer on the mining for the emulators
Do we like generic Hires? Or are they a waste of space/exp?
Gameplay wise they're probably pretty good. I imagine. But since I want to get as many Rapport Conversations as I possibly can in my first play-through, I might end up ignoring them.
They're unironically better than uniques since you can customize their growth without having to spend an arm and a leg.
Certain strategies will require generic hires because most classes don't have more than 1 generic
Generic griffon > Fran
They open up replayability and role playing experience. They make it so you can make decisions in the story with gameplay freedom.
That way you can kill people if you want and not spare everyone out of fear of missing out on key units.
Well then there is literally no downside to having them.
Is this...the new promised land of an army full of generics in my strategy game ever since Ogre Battle was released ages ago?!
Will you give Alain some fairly balanced team or give him full harem of girls to fight with?
He's joining the cavalry squad (Josef, Clive, Adel, Monica) on promote.
Full harem obviously
X Rosalinde
Alain Scarlett
Virginia Yunifi
Is it balanced?
Maybe
Harem because unlike fire emblem it looks to be easier to fully staff women
The game's easy enough to go harem no matter how unoptimized. But I will have a Calvary only squad, only because the thought of running plebians down on a horse excites me.
i'm running Alain with Berenice, Nina and Sharon and destroying everything
full harem is the only right choice
Right now I've got him two pieces of gryphon arm candy.
I'm not sure if Yahna is going in the fourth slot, or if I want to use her as an assist b***h.
I have Alain with Travis and Alain keeps defending him all the time. Does this only happen when Travis fails to evade by himself or is Alain just completely moronic?
Think anon, think.
So you don't know the answer either. Okay then.
Evade and guard only activate if Travis is getting hit
NTA but I do like how dodge tanks are handled in this game. They have naturally high evade and a skill that evades if they were to get hit, and their first attack is to steal more charges for their evade skill.
adjust your gambits
You have to setup conditions or Alain will block anytime he has PP and his friend is attacked.
>when clive chain-kills an entire enemy squad by himself
Frick. That's satisfying. I am not gay so I've got no desire to. But if I was a woman, I'd probably rub it to him.
I get the feeling Clive will be popular with the female portion of the fans.
>he's not a unit-sexual
Not a true SRPGgay
>I am not gay so I've got no desire to. But if I was a woman, I'd probably rub it to him.
>I am not gay
That's like the gayest thing I've heard in my life.
It's okay anon, he's just reaching the point where big numbers make him hard. We all reach that level of intellectual maturity at some point.
Big numbers make women and gays hard too.
>12 inches
>6 feet
>360k salary
Mordon (Warriors) can do that too once you've killed the frontline and there's a soft backline for him to Assaulting Blow one shot over and over, but I don't think any one is rubbing anything to him.
That one village girl certainly was.
>I'm not gay but if I was a woman I'd let Clive lay me down on the bed and make sweet sensual love to me
What did anon mean by this?
I decided to post this to reddit first since I wasn't sure if my post would be too long for Ganker, but I also want to link it here because yesterday an Anon in these threads tried to explain the same thing but fricked up so hard that I didn't understand what he actually meant, so I performed my own experiments with the commands and conditions and wanted to share these results with you
https://www.reddit.com/r/UnicornOverlord/comments/1b34ysz/how_tactics_work_in_regards_to_priority_and_logic/?
if you have
attack, prio infantry > prio caster
attack, prio flying
will it look for caster > infantry > flying?
It will attack a caster if applicable, if not it will attack infantry, and if there's no infantry either it will revert to default targeting (closest enemy, aka the one directly opposite of the unit)
For your purposes you'd have to do
attack "caster"
attack "prio flyer" "prio infantry"
This command will look for a caster first, and if there's none it will look for infantry, and if there's none it will look for flyers, and if there's none it will revert to default targeting rules
tactics really need OR and XOR toggles, also why the hell does it read condition 2 first, that doesn't even make any sense even as a moronic nip (unless they actually labelled condition 2 as condition 1 if you play in japanese)
>tactics really need OR and XOR toggles
They do. For the longest time I was bothered by skills not activating when I wanted them to be "use this if SCOUT or if FLYER are available", not realizing I was telling the game to look for flying scouts to activate (which don't exist, at least in the demo).
why does the double prio line work on the second command but not the first?
Because Prio lines are not exclusive, if there's no applicable targets it will revert still execute the command, but revert to default targeting
This is in contrast to Exclusive conditions, which will skip the line if there's no viable targets
If you want 3 targeting conditions on one skill you have to awkwardly break it up into 2 lines
So if I want an attack to look for multiple conditions it would go like
attack, caster > infantry
attack, flyer > scout
attack, lowest % hp
Would above look for infantry > caster > scout > flyer > lowest % hp?
Different classes need different lines
>Would above look for infantry > caster > scout > flyer > lowest % hp?
No. It wouldn't look for lowest%HP. You'd actually have to do
Attack: Caster -> Lowest%HP
Attack: Infantry -> Lowest%HP
Attack: Flyer -> Lowest%HP
Attack: Scout -> Lowest%HP
Or something like that.
That means when almost everyone is using similar conditions like
Attack: Prio Armored
Attack: Lowest %HP
That fricks them over since if there are no armored targets it will simply go for default targeting and skip Lowest %HP?
Pretty sure Attack: Prio Armored -> Lowest%HP still works in combination.
Yes. For what I think you're trying to do you'd need
Attack "Armored"
Attack "Lowest %HP"
This will attack armor if applicable, otherwise it will just attack whoever has the lowest HP
If you want to attack the armor with the lowest HP, you'd need to combine them into 1 line
>That fricks them over since if there are no armored targets it will simply go for default targeting and skip Lowest %HP?
Correct. But only because your first line reads
Attack: Prio Armored
instead of simply
Attack: Armored
But you could also always just do
in order to attack the armored unit with the lowest HP. Or in the case of there being no armored enemy, still attack the unit with the lowest HP.
Should I battle enemies in the overworld before doing the side missions, or does it not really matter? After clearing the mission against the bandits with the archer guy, all the overworld enemies in the area disappeared.
don't bother, you still get same honor for liberating region
This game plays itslef, you so nothing... so dissapointing
moron
It's alright to be too stupid to understand the game, anon, but you don't need to go embarrassing yourself on Ganker.
Wdym? The units do all by themselves, you only watch Lol, they decide when to heal, do attacks... even aegis rim had more gameplay!
No, you decide when and who your healers heal.
homie that's like saying you don't play any game that has an autobattle system, stfu moron
>The units do all by themselves, you only watch Lol
Yeah bro. Advance Wars also just plays itself too.
I feel ecstatic every time I execute someone. Only Mordon and that bandit are dead so far, but I hope there's more.
>Mordon
but why he is a good guy
Man, I can't believe my siege tanks killed those dragoons by themselves... I had to do nothing, so disappointing...
I hope the game gets popular enough to get porn.
Mind control is a big fetish of mine. And this game lays out a strong premise for mind control porn.
is there porn yet of the waifus
only mom
Mom confirmed best girl
I need mom&cousin porn. The threesome of the ages.
Shut it down
the final boss is going to be some ancient guy from the lost empire seething about his empire being blown up isn't he
God confirmed as the final boss
bruh I gotta sell everything I have to get this game but a homie need to cop ddtoo fr a homie ont no what to do
Anon, did you just suffer an aneurysm? You ok there, bro'?
So what is Berenice's deal with Travis anyway? Usually these conflicts stem from the older party in a dangerous occupation trying to protect the stubborn younger party by pissing them off so they would willingly stop hanging around them. Am I not reading some codex entries or something?
Berenice has nothing to do with Travis, pal.
I don't think you've read anything at all.
This is the second time I've seen someone confuse Travis' sister and Berenice. Is it because they both start with B?
>Is it because they both start with B?
That's one part of it. I think another factor is that right before you meet Berenice, you have to do the Bruno map. At the end of that, you get a flashback where Travis' sister is using the sellsword body (-minus muscular thighs). You then immediately meet a woman with the same body and a similar name, that looks like she could be his sister. I didn't get it confused myself, but I can see how it happens.
So how often do resources respawn?
And the game said station guards would give me resources. But that hasn't happened. When does it happen?
How old is Virginia and why does she need to get laid with Alain?
My guess is mid to late twenties if she was part of the Queen's Guard. She could have been 15-17 when the rebellion happened.
Did I make the right choice sedning the assasin guy to jail?
nobody knows because the demo doesn't follow up on that story
He busts out and swears revenge instead of remembering Alain's mercy.
Can you change difficulty mid way play? I'm thinking of starting a new demo run and then play on easy/casual/journalist mode for the content I've already done and then turn back expert for the stuff that is new.
yes, options menu
post virginia lewds
I'll commission some but only if it's confirmed that Alain can wife her
i can confirm. now commission them
I'm not spending my money unless it's a sure thing
trust me bro. i need those lewds
then be patient
Marrying your cousin is perfectly legal in Japan. Virginia romance is guaranteed. Now commission it.
Risk of forced Scarlett romance path or random Vanillaware shipping is too high
You can be patient for a week, it's not like the art would be finished by that time anyway
Hips made for birthing human mutts
I want to MAKE beautiful BABIES with Virginia and her noble womb!!
Did you play the demo on expert?
Did you try the tutorial mission without having Josef carry you?
There is a lot of strategy and decision making in this game. More so than in most games of the genre.
Someone asks this question everyday. Yes, keep playing. And play on Expert if you're not.
having to add artificial difficulty doesn't seem like it would change the way you play just make it a more tedious experience
>Your game is not sufficiently challenging me and I'm unwilling to take the basic steps provided to be challenged by your game, therefore your game is bad
As if your cope phrase "artificial difficulty" doesn't tell the full story by itself
You guys got it all wrong, he took control of the continent because it's part of his dieting plan, not because he's evil
I know the belly armor is practical but it makes him look fat and kind of ruins any threatening presence he may have had
Bigger = more imposing
He knows what he's doing
You should feel very threatened by a man who puts combat practicality before form.
Most men would have that convex portion on their chest. Because Galerius is so tall, he had a custom armor that placed it in his guts, which is what most men are going to be swinging for on him. It's a clever design.
The belly shield is also smart, if you look at the weapon he's using. His weakness is someone getting inside of his reach and then stabbing exposed/vulnerable parts. The belly shield makes it much harder to reach these areas.
I think the fatman armor actually makes him look more heavy and threathening
You ain't gonna stop this guy with a bunch of scrawny infantrymen
Fatman armor is kino and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
Indeed it is. But often it's ruined by moronic helmets
Lucky is not the case here
He just wants to grill, for Zenoira's sake
Its HIM
>Gets a power that lets him control minds
It all makes sense, it's like pottery
https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/116476794
I am now erect.
Mom deserves more porn too.
Galerius making good use of his mind control powers
Why is this game getting charged with so many "autobattling" accusations. But not say, a game like Disgaea?
I am genuinely curious.
Even ignoring the map movement itself. With every enemy encounter. Unit selection (in case several units are present), formation decisions. Skill priorities and order of operations. All of it is relevant.
How is that different from choosing a unit and your preferred skills in other games of the genre, like Disgaea or SRW or whatever else?
They never played RTS, real time movement broke their brain
Starcraft. My favourite autobattler.
call me a schizo but it's probably some shitposting discord agreeing that's the angle they want to shitpost from
It's bait anon, nobody is moronic enough to actually think like they do. God I hope it's fricking bait.
How are you guys playing it?
PS, Switch, Yuzu/Ryujinx?
Does the demo carry over or is it standalone?
Started on Switch, moved to emulator so I could pause the timer.
How well does it play on an emulator? I've been playing the demo on Switch but emulators are so much more convenient
Plays perfect except for audio being a little bit weirder than on switch when fast-fowarding some songs. Barely noticeable.
I am playing it on the Switch.
Chances are I won't ever play it handheld. I don't play handheld often. But I want to be able to.
I really like being able to play games handheld when I do. And in those cases having good games available to be played handheld is very much appreciated.
tfw start meddling too much in tactics suddenly I do way less damage compared to default conditions
Has there been any sign of customization beyond unit painting and palette swapping, like swapping between the unique heads some units have.
I want my legion of masked, uniform troops.
is fatman armor realistic
Surprisingly no, even in the full platemail era you wanted to carry as little weight as possible. A thick belly shield strapped around your waist would weigh you down a hell of a lot and would make it difficult to ride horses. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be effective, just that it probably wouldn't be preferred as an option for a fighter who needed to move around a lot on the battlefield.
i'm 100% sure everyone has default romance, Alain x Scarlett, Clive x Monica, etc.
YOUNICOURN OVERULORUDO
You might not like it, but this picture is what peak future queen of Cornia looks like.
there's no pick your own romance
enjoy Scarlett
Counterpoint, Scarlett has a orbital laser.
she's still shit
>Marry Scarlett
>When you've already given the paired Royal Ring to the one Alain is wearing to the elf princess you met last week
How the frick do you explain that to someone?
Gameplay mechanic and not a romantic oath
not brown enough
ears too short
probably can't even use magic
4/10
Being given perfect information about an enemy's turn turns the game into a puzzle game like Into the Breach, which was a great fricking game by the way, I just don't want every single game to be like that.
Frick this I am going to play FE until UO is out
Try Lunatic Reverse New Mystery.
Even with all the UI conveniences you still need to pay attention to enemy unit composition, if you send a squad that gets hard countered and it makes contact with the enemy you're fricked, there's no way to preview battle outcome like in FE, once you''ve made contact with the enemy then that's it
Gladiator is the worse class in the entire demo
I don't think any class will be this bad
Hoplite is worse
Not really.
he's fine with the spectacles accessory, he hits harder than cav at full hp
They're kinda shit, man
The row cleave is neat, but griffon riders also exist
They have like 80 fricking speed too
One of those classes that are complete pain in the ass when enemies use them, and not great at all when you use them.
