Alain, Joseph, and ochlys don't count for shit, because Alain is a snowflake class with better stats than everyone and the other two are advanced classes. I have certainly used griffons on the front line but there are times where they need to be rotated away from the frontline because if they actually get hit they die to a sneeze.
i mean that's just how the demo plays, there's no space for a hoplite unit. i've never met a single unit that could kill my griffon, the only problem with them is their terrible stamina as a leader

i did melisandre's map with gryphon tanks and had no issue. swordfighters were extremely squishy so they died in 1 gryphon swing. archers are even worse
gryphons don't take extra damage from ranged or magic support, the only thing that threatens them is the arrow rain valor skill and that's only if they're the leader
Hodrick is tankier than Josef, Melisandre dies to a sneeze if she can't parry (and she often can, either because it's the second attack of a chain or because it's "ranged").
Dodge tanks are situationally much tankier or situationally much less tankier, depending on enemy comp.

hoplites work also as a hard counter against swordmasters, which I suspect we'll see a ton more in places like drakengard
yeah the enemy is simply way too wimpy, which is why the defenses of hoplite goes completely to waste, you don't need that level of tankiness and it's far more efficient to trade it for more offensive power with a less tanky frontliner who will still get the job done
Their point is pretty obvious but the player is incentivized to make teams that hit first, fast, and furiously due to time limits and stamina. It remains to be seen if we will see more defense style missions where a meatwall might have a little more utility.

I'm hoping that it's a Growlanser situation, where all the girls endings are explicitly romantic and the boys endings are focused on brotherhood and friendship and the like.
Context is exactly as it sounds. Growlanser tracks your dialogue options and unlocks/locks certain options based on a SHITLOAD of personality traits (Bravery/Cowardice, Nice/Mean, Reliable/Treacherous, Skirt Chaser, Trouser Chaser, Insane etc etc, yes these are what they are actually called in the games files) that are never shown to the player. So if you've been acting like a hero, you get heroic dialogue options. If you act like a dickhead, you get butthole dialogue options. To correct your character, you can choose to go to a therapist to lower/raise certain characteristics. One of these is asking the therapist to make you less of a trouser chaser, which lowers the number which tracks how much you flirt with guys.
If you completely ignore the field portion of combat and equate gacha with "lots of characters." Honestly it's the multiplayer that is actually just an auto-battler with gambits.

Promotion classes do get new skills, usually at least 2 from what we've seen but they can get more. For instance, in the prologue, you have the blonde guy with a mustache in the queen's party. That guy is a 'Sergeant', the upgraded variant of a 'Soldier' (Chloe's class). He has two new abilities, Honed Spear and Active Gift.
We also know that units get new equipment slots on promotion, like Sellswords gaining a shield slot and Swordmaster another sword slot.
Forgot to mention that their Valor skills also get upgraded.

Just checked, you can't. You could make her prioritize highest attack or defense so travis gets excluded
I think prioritize anything doesn't work for triggered buff skills at all because prioritize creates a list with everyone on it and the prioritized units are sorted to the top, but when the trigger activates it goes "welp this guy is still on the list" and casts it anyway

Say I get 3 supports with Ochlys, this benefits the whole team. So ideally you'd also want Ochlys to support someone else and also be able to support that unit for further boosts.
Basically think the boosts you'd get from a support applies to the whole squad. So A x O gets +3, O x S gets +2, A x S gets + 2, and A x V gets +2. So the whole squad gets +9.

The strategy aspect is about as fleshed out as I was expecting it to be, but I almost wonder if the game doesn't suffer a bit because you can skip battles, or because it uses a gambit system when a turn based one would have sufficed.

3) you get on your horse and he gets on his horse
4) You talk while riding your horses (they autopath so you don't have to do anything)

7) Talk on your way back

Dragon's crown is probably the best and this game might easily beat it if it's less repetitive.
Both Dragon crown and Odin sphere suffered massively from you just having to go through the exact same areas multiple times and it got boring very quickly.

These 2 games seem to share a lot in common, but for some reason one of them was magical to me while the other doesn't seem to click.
My wild assumption is that Odin Sphere was magical to you because it was more of a complete package while Dragon's Crown relied more on multiplayer which you never got to fully experience during the game's height. Curious to know if I'm right.
Muramasa Rebirth for me, but Odin Sphere Leifrasir isn't a too far off second. Unicorn Overlord is closer to Dragon's Crown for me; better than Dragon's Crown but still a much less magical experience than Muramasa and OSL and more of a GAMEY game, if that makes sense. I haven't play 13 Sentinels.
My uncle at Vanillaware told me that if you let the experiments continue then there will be a timed (only available for one day cycle in-game) hidden quest you will need to finish to find the cure. If you miss out on this quest then word will get out that the Liberation Army has been conducting inhuman experiments on the people. This will cause many justice-aligned allies like Ochtys to leave your army and the people will revolt, causing you to lose access to many towns and cities in the region.
However if you manage to complete this quest you will get the vaccine to the plague which will help you get through a late part of the game where you need to fight in plagued territory that causes serious debuffs that are uncleansable by regular means.

Additionally letting the experiments continue results in you killing the family members of a certain character, not only locking her out of recruitment but she joins the enemy faction instead so it's a toss up between whether you want Tatiana or this other female character.
Ok anons, I finally figured out how to manipulate ally targeting of buffs, when your allies are of the same type.
Do it by manipulating how much AP or PP your intended target has or will have when you want the buff to occur.
Example: You want to Quick Action your Gryphon Knight, but there's other flyers on your back row. Let's say you have Ochlys and another Gryph on the backline. Ochlys has 2 PP by default. Maybe give the other gryph a lapis, or a carnelian, or make him activate a skill on battle start so he has a different amount of PP than the one you want to buff. Then set the PP& AP condition accordingly.
I wouldn't even unseal it, that shit is probably going to be worth a lot of money in a couple of years, you're not gonna use it so might as well keep it factory new
i know it's because they're pretty late in the demo but it's still kind of weird how noone really seems to know how cracked AND bussin' radiant knights are
I played the demo through twice and didn't see a few things that people are talking about, like Melisandre or shamans, but I'm just going to wait until it releases so I don't burn myself out.
Fun tidbits you found when messing around in the demo?
Here's mine: It's impossible for any unit to run out of stamina in the tutorial on Palevia. They will just say something along the lines of 'No, I won't stop here!' and fully regen their stamina back to the cap.
If you run directly to the entrance to the endgame area before clearing Gimmel's map, Josef will ask if you're willing to hear his advice. I you say yes, you get some free rapport points.
Fighters are absolutely godlike to pair with high evade units since they completely remove their only weakness. Ochys+Lex+whoever else is my main wrecking ball in expert.
He's probably recruitable but I can think of no mechanical advantage over a generic thief, and he probably only has rapport dialog with Alain and his hunter pal

The characters that are story critical join without a choice. Everyone else is totally replaceable, and probably just has a few cameo scenes and rapport dialog with Alain and maybe 1 other guy.

Unless they plan to give us another Paladin later, Josef might be fine due to his unique abilities. His skills are actually better than a promoted Knight.
Level 30 attack does more DPS than whatever Knight can shit out and it can do the same snowballing as Knight, but also ensure it more often due to the better damage from said skill. The only weakness of the class is it's piloted by Josef.

Divine Cross (Paladin 30) is 50 Physical/50 Melee potency true strike.
Pile Thrust (Great Knight 20) is 50 Physical Potency x 3 (and also gives AP on kill).
Even if Paladin had exact equal Str and Magic, and these were also equal to Great Knight Str alone, it's a 50 potency bonus for the great knight, and it resets. It's downside is not being true strike, which is niche to kill scout/flyers. >can do the same snowballing

It isn't. The main game is 25 missions. The short and simple of it is: Dragons and Demons own, sorcery wins basically anything in the main campaign, and at least half the cast is horny for someone.

Alain, Joseph, and ochlys don't count for shit, because Alain is a snowflake class with better stats than everyone and the other two are advanced classes. I have certainly used griffons on the front line but there are times where they need to be rotated away from the frontline because if they actually get hit they die to a sneeze.
i mean that's just how the demo plays, there's no space for a hoplite unit. i've never met a single unit that could kill my griffon, the only problem with them is their terrible stamina as a leader

i did melisandre's map with gryphon tanks and had no issue. swordfighters were extremely squishy so they died in 1 gryphon swing. archers are even worse
gryphons don't take extra damage from ranged or magic support, the only thing that threatens them is the arrow rain valor skill and that's only if they're the leader
Play on a difficulty higher than normal
Hodrick is tankier than Josef, Melisandre dies to a sneeze if she can't parry (and she often can, either because it's the second attack of a chain or because it's "ranged").
Dodge tanks are situationally much tankier or situationally much less tankier, depending on enemy comp.
Outside of Lord, Hoplite is the tankiest class.

hoplites work also as a hard counter against swordmasters, which I suspect we'll see a ton more in places like drakengard
yeah the enemy is simply way too wimpy, which is why the defenses of hoplite goes completely to waste, you don't need that level of tankiness and it's far more efficient to trade it for more offensive power with a less tanky frontliner who will still get the job done

I think the whole defend the post thing will escalate, and to defend these stamina doesn't really matter.
There aren't that many options. It's thief/any flyer against melee for dodge tanking, Hoplite/Lord/Gladiator/Fighter/Paladin? for straight up tanks, and hoplite is the tankiest of these. Maybe with exception of Lord, because it doesn't have vulnerability to warriors

Context is exactly as it sounds. Growlanser tracks your dialogue options and unlocks/locks certain options based on a SHITLOAD of personality traits (Bravery/Cowardice, Nice/Mean, Reliable/Treacherous, Skirt Chaser, Trouser Chaser, Insane etc etc, yes these are what they are actually called in the games files) that are never shown to the player. So if you've been acting like a hero, you get heroic dialogue options. If you act like a dickhead, you get butthole dialogue options. To correct your character, you can choose to go to a therapist to lower/raise certain characteristics. One of these is asking the therapist to make you less of a trouser chaser, which lowers the number which tracks how much you flirt with guys.

Promotion classes do get new skills, usually at least 2 from what we've seen but they can get more. For instance, in the prologue, you have the blonde guy with a mustache in the queen's party. That guy is a 'Sergeant', the upgraded variant of a 'Soldier' (Chloe's class). He has two new abilities, Honed Spear and Active Gift.
We also know that units get new equipment slots on promotion, like Sellswords gaining a shield slot and Swordmaster another sword slot.
Forgot to mention that their Valor skills also get upgraded.

Running Alain, Travis, Berenice, Yahna in a squad. Experimenting with having Travis poison the backrow (pesky shamans) and magic conferral does seemingly nothing there.

another option would be to use 2 lines, one frontrow only (i assume alain is the sole frontliner) and another line to target highest phys atk which will be berenice

I think prioritize anything doesn't work for triggered buff skills at all because prioritize creates a list with everyone on it and the prioritized units are sorted to the top, but when the trigger activates it goes "welp this guy is still on the list" and casts it anyway

You just have a lot of options. That's it. It's not horribly complicated. Half of the appeal as ever is Vanillaware just being a genius with aesthetics.

My uncle at Vanillaware told me that if you let the experiments continue then there will be a timed (only available for one day cycle in-game) hidden quest you will need to finish to find the cure. If you miss out on this quest then word will get out that the Liberation Army has been conducting inhuman experiments on the people. This will cause many justice-aligned allies like Ochtys to leave your army and the people will revolt, causing you to lose access to many towns and cities in the region.
However if you manage to complete this quest you will get the vaccine to the plague which will help you get through a late part of the game where you need to fight in plagued territory that causes serious debuffs that are uncleansable by regular means.

Ok anons, I finally figured out how to manipulate ally targeting of buffs, when your allies are of the same type.
Do it by manipulating how much AP or PP your intended target has or will have when you want the buff to occur.
Example: You want to Quick Action your Gryphon Knight, but there's other flyers on your back row. Let's say you have Ochlys and another Gryph on the backline. Ochlys has 2 PP by default. Maybe give the other gryph a lapis, or a carnelian, or make him activate a skill on battle start so he has a different amount of PP than the one you want to buff. Then set the PP& AP condition accordingly.

His class upgrade is mainly meant to draw aggro. You can use it to distract opposing units from your ace squad to keep their stamina up.

Fighters are absolutely godlike to pair with high evade units since they completely remove their only weakness. Ochys+Lex+whoever else is my main wrecking ball in expert.

Divine Cross (Paladin 30) is 50 Physical/50 Melee potency true strike.
Pile Thrust (Great Knight 20) is 50 Physical Potency x 3 (and also gives AP on kill).
Even if Paladin had exact equal Str and Magic, and these were also equal to Great Knight Str alone, it's a 50 potency bonus for the great knight, and it resets. It's downside is not being true strike, which is niche to kill scout/flyers.
