When your mom fights the other army in the intro, everyone's level 40 and the guys guarding the bridges to Galerius town are 38, so that seems reasonable. Don't know about a postgame dungeon, but it's possible.

That new Prince of Persia game is actually really solid. If you like Metroidvanias. But you could probably 100% that game under 40 hours on the hardest difficulty.
Though if you want a strategy type game with lots of autism that could be argued to be more similar to Unicorn Overlord. But is one that you can spend a fair bit of time on yet easily drop at a moment's notice. There is always The Last Spell.
It's grid based. But it's a survival strategy RPG where you prepare to fight and then fight against hordes and hordes of incoming enemies and then huge bosses. It's actually kind of fun and really caters towards minmax autism.
Those are my recommendations from games I've recently played myself that aren't long playthroughs that you might not have time to finish before Unicorn Overlord.
Maybe you don't care for either of these two games. But maybe you will.

I loved 13 sentinels, but I like VNs and wacky Sci-Fi. If you don't like either it might be kind of boring.

It's pretty good if you like romantic subplots. The main plot is good too but nothing special. The tower defense gameplay is moronic.

I don't know what diabolical permutations may yet present themselves, but it seems situational. Trading 2 AP to take 1 AP off a row? I feel like Gryphs are at their best when they're one shotting cavalry, and that skill just seems expensive unless you absolutely need to knock some AP off.
it has 150 potency, so 50% stronger than the 1ap skill. it's more for hyperoffensive units that focus on wiping out the enemy in 1 turn because you have to wait for the enemy to attack if you want to use 2x 100 potency skills unless you're capable of stunning most or all of the enemies (warlock has a row stun)

Scarlett feeds PP with passive healing (Heals, grants +1PP, procs when she's hit by an ally ability). Aside from the promo skills (like Volcano for Wizard/Warlock) there aren't many spells I've seen from equipment, and even then, it's just the names. So far, I've seen 'Sandstorm', 'Blizzard', 'Sanguine Rain' (might be on a Cleric/Bishop exclusive staff), 'Fire/Icestorm' (on a set of matching swords). The Dark Marquess class has a staff variant which can inflict poison on a row and then has an AoE that can hit all enemies with an increased potency against poisoned targets. She also has some Shaman spells like 'Passive Curse'.

Feathershield is an anti-magical tank, very unique too. I wonder if he's armored tag too?
Staff looks kinda meh, I was expecting more Daylight synergy since the Furries have so much with Night. Cool that it grants Lifeguard to a row tho, and that it has a unique reactive healing that happens before damage (and not after, like quickheal and the like).
Bow is the most bland. Aerial pursuit is pursuit but worse (requires flying allies, it's the same in an air squad but less versatility), but damn she has an AoE reactive Blind.
I wonder if Blind counters True Strike.

I don't think conferral works like that with multi hit abilities. Here's my tests and my math, correct me if you see anything wrong.
My Travis has 32 Physical Attack, and strikes a Bruno with 9 defense twice with Poison Strike (25 potency double hit) for 6 damage each hit. The math of this is (32-9) x (25/100), which is 5,75, rounded up to 6 damage. So far so good.
A witch with 39 Magic Attack gives him Conferral. Bruno has 10 Magic Resistance. So that's (39-10) x (50/100). That means Conferral should add 15 damage.
However, Travis' hits do 13 damage with conferral, not 6+15 for 21. But dividing the 15 by half, we get 7,5, rounded down to 7, plus 6 and we get the 13 displayed on the hits.
Conferral is very strong on AoE single hits, but not on multi hits. The total damage value is divided between all the hits.

She does seem very fun to use. I think her biggest problem is that she doesn't have true strike innately, so you need to build around that, either by giving it to her via buffs/equipment or by using her like a weird mage.
Sonic Arrow also seems decently potent. At level 20, a fast unit like a werewolf has 44 HP and 40 initiative, so sonic arrow is near guaranteed to kill them in a single hit (if it hits). Most other non-tanks sit at around 20~30 initiative with around 50 to 60 HP.

It's like the Hoplite's cover but that one explicitly states that you guaranteed use a heavy guard at the same time. The Feathershield class just jumps in front of the attack without additional protection.

it's direct damage. 200hp would deal 100 damage, not 100 potency. i'm guessing it might have a niche use vs extremely high defense or atk down or something
That's not how potency works. If you have 100hp then that is 50 flat damage to a whole column. All potency attacks have to take into account defenses and other variables.
100 potency isn't equal to a 100 attack attack. You need 100 Physical attack on the unit's stats to do 100 damage with a 100 potency attack (on 0 phys def).
Seems like a decent anti-armor option

The difficulty isn't very high. If you do sidequests and stuff to get lots of good items and units (which will also keep your level high) you should be able to steamroll things without thinking.
Around lvl10 to 14 it will due to the mix of no repeat classes early on and troll enemy builds (that need the classes you don't have enough of to beat) >muh generics

the armpit is of course vulnerable to getting stabbed and there are some juicy veins in there that you would want to protect, but not everyone could afford perfectly fitting armor.
depending on time period and context, it might be left to the gambeson to cover it up, or maybe a bit of chainmail might be rivited into the gap.
but again sometimes fashion takes precedence. italy went through a phase where they started modelling their plate armor after heroes from antiquity (al antiqua) and that led to some slightly more open breastplates.

They collect resources for you, which are delivered to you periodically. You can also talk to them and gift them things, which significantly bumps up rapport.

I am honestly really impressed. Not often you get demos that allows you to play this much of the genuine game experience.
I am guessing they want to get people too invested in their playthroughs to not want to continue in the full game.

No, only the starting area (that is 30% of the map) probably 12 hours or more of content, I got my 7 hours at a normal pace and only reached team level 6, by powering through (and skipping ALL text) I got to lvl 16, so there is a lot of content if you want to enjoy it properly without skipping the text
You reveal the map as you walk around, at least I got a map reveal rate of 29.4% it appears on the map screen accesible by pressing - (the minus button)

I am guessing a branching main quest will unlock after the main quest that ends the demo. And I don't know exactly how those paths will look. As you say, considering the map. But there is probably some path or another for each region.

Fighters and probably soldiers go on the bench once you unlock a couple good classes. Gladiator is fine, the game kind of baits you into expecting them to tank for you but they have no means of mitigating damage so sticking them in the back instead tends to be better. There's no shortage of good tanks, Alain, thieves, Ochlys, Josef, Hoplites all hold the front line pretty well and you just stick damage and supports in the back.

Afraid not. I have completed the game and it the main bad guy brainwashes her into becoming his lovely wife. In the end you have to kill her to save her, unless you get all the recruitable characters and bring specific units in the battle against her in which case she joins you for the final battle.

Ehh, I don't think its that bad. You're gonna have a lot of people who haven't played it and if you get stuck, other people can help. Only really fricks multiplayer since they'll figure out what units are best, but most people you play with wouldn't have played the leak.

When your mom fights the other army in the intro, everyone's level 40 and the guys guarding the bridges to Galerius town are 38, so that seems reasonable. Don't know about a postgame dungeon, but it's possible.

That new Prince of Persia game is actually really solid. If you like Metroidvanias. But you could probably 100% that game under 40 hours on the hardest difficulty.
Though if you want a strategy type game with lots of autism that could be argued to be more similar to Unicorn Overlord. But is one that you can spend a fair bit of time on yet easily drop at a moment's notice. There is always The Last Spell.
It's grid based. But it's a survival strategy RPG where you prepare to fight and then fight against hordes and hordes of incoming enemies and then huge bosses. It's actually kind of fun and really caters towards minmax autism.
Those are my recommendations from games I've recently played myself that aren't long playthroughs that you might not have time to finish before Unicorn Overlord.
Maybe you don't care for either of these two games. But maybe you will.

it has 150 potency, so 50% stronger than the 1ap skill. it's more for hyperoffensive units that focus on wiping out the enemy in 1 turn because you have to wait for the enemy to attack if you want to use 2x 100 potency skills unless you're capable of stunning most or all of the enemies (warlock has a row stun)

I wonder if there will be a way to setup a loop so someone buffs scarlett who them feeds 1 PP and heals the Sybil who then uses 1 AP at full health after being healed, gets a second PP, activates Elemental Impetus, and the loop continues.

Aside from the promo skills (like Volcano for Wizard/Warlock) there aren't many spells I've seen from equipment, and even then, it's just the names. So far, I've seen 'Sandstorm', 'Blizzard', 'Sanguine Rain' (might be on a Cleric/Bishop exclusive staff), 'Fire/Icestorm' (on a set of matching swords). The Dark Marquess class has a staff variant which can inflict poison on a row and then has an AoE that can hit all enemies with an increased potency against poisoned targets. She also has some Shaman spells like 'Passive Curse'.

Feathershield is an anti-magical tank, very unique too. I wonder if he's armored tag too?
Staff looks kinda meh, I was expecting more Daylight synergy since the Furries have so much with Night. Cool that it grants Lifeguard to a row tho, and that it has a unique reactive healing that happens before damage (and not after, like quickheal and the like).
Bow is the most bland. Aerial pursuit is pursuit but worse (requires flying allies, it's the same in an air squad but less versatility), but damn she has an AoE reactive Blind.

I think you're right. It is interesting it isn't mentioned as a straight '-50 Accuracy' debuff or similar, and is it's own separate thing. Everything has a counter, so maybe this is True Strikes. Nice catch anon.

4-hit basic attack for the bow would be pretty potent with Conferral.

I don't think conferral works like that with multi hit abilities. Here's my tests and my math, correct me if you see anything wrong.
My Travis has 32 Physical Attack, and strikes a Bruno with 9 defense twice with Poison Strike (25 potency double hit) for 6 damage each hit. The math of this is (32-9) x (25/100), which is 5,75, rounded up to 6 damage. So far so good.
A witch with 39 Magic Attack gives him Conferral. Bruno has 10 Magic Resistance. So that's (39-10) x (50/100). That means Conferral should add 15 damage.
However, Travis' hits do 13 damage with conferral, not 6+15 for 21. But dividing the 15 by half, we get 7,5, rounded down to 7, plus 6 and we get the 13 displayed on the hits.
Conferral is very strong on AoE single hits, but not on multi hits. The total damage value is divided between all the hits.

She does seem very fun to use. I think her biggest problem is that she doesn't have true strike innately, so you need to build around that, either by giving it to her via buffs/equipment or by using her like a weird mage.
Sonic Arrow also seems decently potent. At level 20, a fast unit like a werewolf has 44 HP and 40 initiative, so sonic arrow is near guaranteed to kill them in a single hit (if it hits). Most other non-tanks sit at around 20~30 initiative with around 50 to 60 HP.

It's like the Hoplite's cover but that one explicitly states that you guaranteed use a heavy guard at the same time. The Feathershield class just jumps in front of the attack without additional protection.

That's not how potency works. If you have 100hp then that is 50 flat damage to a whole column. All potency attacks have to take into account defenses and other variables.
100 potency isn't equal to a 100 attack attack. You need 100 Physical attack on the unit's stats to do 100 damage with a 100 potency attack (on 0 phys def).

i can already tell you alain promo since he's in the demo. he doesn't get more defensives, he gets a 120 potency row aoe that ignores 50% def and a 2pp battle start skill that raises all ally initiative by 20. he also becomes cavalry so he gains 2x damage to infantry and cav weakness

The difficulty isn't very high. If you do sidequests and stuff to get lots of good items and units (which will also keep your level high) you should be able to steamroll things without thinking.
Around lvl10 to 14 it will due to the mix of no repeat classes early on and troll enemy builds (that need the classes you don't have enough of to beat)

the armpit is of course vulnerable to getting stabbed and there are some juicy veins in there that you would want to protect, but not everyone could afford perfectly fitting armor.
depending on time period and context, it might be left to the gambeson to cover it up, or maybe a bit of chainmail might be rivited into the gap.
but again sometimes fashion takes precedence. italy went through a phase where they started modelling their plate armor after heroes from antiquity (al antiqua) and that led to some slightly more open breastplates.
however i suspect the reference might be a little more domestic.

Yes but you have to skip all dialogue and it helps to do your squad set up on the paise screen before deploying, also strictly follow the level suggestion to maximize exp gain and not get stuck on the high levels mission, despite doing all I did one lvl13 grind mission

About 7 or so hours give or take.
7 hours due to time limit, by skipping everything and getting gud you can beat all the maps within the time limit even on ekisupaato modo (expert mode)

you can't do much with those 2 in the demo beyond covering for arrows with lex, what i did was put buffs on them with accessories and call it a day
Fighters and probably soldiers go on the bench once you unlock a couple good classes. Gladiator is fine, the game kind of baits you into expecting them to tank for you but they have no means of mitigating damage so sticking them in the back instead tends to be better. There's no shortage of good tanks, Alain, thieves, Ochlys, Josef, Hoplites all hold the front line pretty well and you just stick damage and supports in the back.
Some bosses of small missions basically showcase cheesy builds like 2 gladiators and 2 shamans, or one armor and 3 radiant knights (troubadors)
