Hydlide guys also made the really based Undeadline X68k and Cu-On-Pa SFC (which is actually a port of mac puzzle Endorfun but the snes port is impressive nonetheless)
SNES version is different enough it could be considered a spinoff game, really.

Just as a turd is virtually a corpse, Virtual Hydlide is virtually a game
While I don't think it's amazing the game does seem to get a lot of unfair flack. Framerate aside it was super far ahead of its time.
Hydlide got more hate than it should have
