Unironically, what is the reason that drives people to buy these consoles? No indies is a big red flag on its own. What is wrong with people?
Unironically, what is the reason that drives people to buy these consoles? No indies is a big red flag on its own. What is wrong with people?
convenience, don't have patience for a PC
Obviously this, it's weird to think about but most people don't even use computers anymore.
It's common to have a family laptop and everyone just use their phone.
A lot of zoomers actually have bad IT skills becuase they don't use Windows but a mobileOS
>bad IT skills
Inferiority complex homie pls. doing mundane trouble shooting and going to the game settings for trial and error is not IT skills. unironically Black person tier mentality. this is the eternal cope of the PCMR: "hurr dee durr i am smart because i play games on PC". you waste a lot of money and time and are always treated like a second class citizen.
You're actually moronic. Learning to manually mod games, fix any hardware issues you may come across when your PC gets older, and fricking around with random things definitely gives you way better IT skills than a person who uses phones and consoles. This gets even more true if you like niche games that may require special programs or fricking around with PC settings to get it to work. A lot of Jap games, especially older ones, taught me to do a lot of stuff on the PC. You can definitely make the argument that the PC is a pain in the ass to deal with at times, but you can't make the argument that it doesn't teach you anything. As long as you're not an npc that only plays Goyim AAA, you're bound to learn something at some point.
>You're actually moronic.
brother im calling you an inferiority complex Black person and you double down. yes i frick around with my PC because i work on a PC like most people, that doesn't mean i have an ebin gamer GPU or that I need one. no there is absolutely no transferable skill to troubleshooting games all day. learn to code you monkey.
It's not my fault you play soulless goyslop on your machine you stupid Black person. Maybe get some better taste in games or better yet just unplug your ethernet cord and wrap it around your neck before jumping out the window.
>soulless goyslop on your machine you stupid Black person.
cope. tell me one of your actual skills from being an ebin pcmr gamer.
I learned how to make your mother tongue my anus
>gives you way better IT skills than a person who uses phones and consoles.
haha. knowing how to use window is IT skill.
this, Ganker cant seem to get it through their thick skulls
ease of use and that's it
paid online and the lack of sales makes this shit more expensive than a PC in the long term
>lack of sales
Used games says hello, thrift stores say hello, garage sales say hello, friends say hello
glhf when they abolish disc drives completely and make it a premium feature...wait a second
I buy codes off g2a for peanuts, please find some new copium
>paid online and the lack of sales makes this shit more expensive than a PC in the long term
Over 50% of the people don't have $1500 to shell out all at once(Starting from scratch, capable running new AAA games with decent performance, no build yourself because that's for autists).
And you only pay for online when you need it for some shitty modern multiplayer game, and then cancel when you're done with it.
>And you only pay for online when you need it for some shitty modern multiplayer game, and then cancel when you're done with it.
You talk about things normies are doing and then give an example of something they do not do. Console players are always paying for online. Lots of them are paying for a whole year in advanced or at least multiple months. There are PCs out there that are <$600 which will play games just fine, normal people will not see the difference. Sony and MS can market 4k all they want but their consoles are not actually rendering 4k, they are doing upscaling still.
Consoletoddlers are low IQ, you can’t expect them to think.
that's why we spoonfeed. If they were to think they would realize there are other ways to get them even cheaper (like buying used from some autist that builds a new PC every year)
must be so weird for them to understand that an old GPU can run 4k native for Doom with no upscaling tricks and without turning the settings down to match a console
>4 stars and under
That means it's gonna blow up in less than 3 years
PCs dont just die for no reason. I've only had 2 die in my life. One i spilled a liter of water directly onto and the second i static shocked so many times i killed a keyboard and then various components.
>Windows also never had a good UI for couch use.
That's why steam has big picture mode. If it's strictly gaming just leave that open and let it sleep and use controller to wake it. I will agree its more expensive to get a small PC and this is the reason i dont have one in my living room, i have my 2nd pc in my basement theater area and if i want to play something upstairs its on the steam deck.
People have no tech literacy. I have family and friend that just found out there are cables under the ocean for the internet and its not just all satellites or some magic
People put a box on their living room for multimedia content. The top installed app on Playstation is Netflix, ahead of Fortnite. Steam big picture works for games but doesn't fix Windows.
you tell em sister
I totally forgot that consoles dont have adequate storage built in and you have to plug in external drvies because AAA games are more than 100GB. Hilarious
I only plugged my ps4 in since i moved because i had a friend that never played last of us so we did a one sitting playthrough. Before that last time i used it was the first spiderman game. The full price thing is whats so nice about PC because steam (and others) have sales so often as long as you can wait a little bit you can get things at least 30% off. Thats not even mentioning things like steamkey sites
>You talk about things normies are doing and then give an example of something they do not do. Console players are always paying for online. Lots of them are paying for a whole year in advanced or at least multiple months
I mean shit like PS Plus comes with games at higher tiers, it can potentially work out cheaper to buy Plus than the games depending on how much use you get out of it.
There's usually some kind of massive PSN sale going on almost every week. Hell of the games I want to play only a few never go on sale. And most of them are shmups.
>indies is a big red flag on its own
lol its a indie troony, which earthbound like did you play recently
So i take it you prefer triple A slop?
the only good indie is terraria
Sorry anon. You're a troony.
Yes like any non-troony would
Are you baiting?Serious talk
You prefer Spider man to blasphemous or celeste or hollow knight?
that's a lot of words when you could have just said "I'm trans"
>blasphemous or celeste or hollow knight
Those are the type of games that trannies love and they are all on PS anyway, so I don't know what is even the point.
Celeste is absolute fricking garbage

I am a grown adult with a disposable income and consoles are actually inexpensive once you have a job. A PS5 is less than my monthly car insurance

You're getting fricked in the ass
Nissan GTR, license only been valid for 5 months, I live in a metropolitan area (so moderate crime) plus I have a diagnosed MH condition on the license. It's £320 a month. There are no ways around this.
>MH condition
>Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a pharmacogenetic disorder of skeletal muscle that presents as a hypermetabolic response to potent volatile anesthetic gases such as halothane, sevoflurane, desflurane and the depolarizing muscle relaxant succinylcholine, and rarely, in humans, to stresses such as vigorous exercise and ...

>Moderate crime area
So you're an idiot who spent all his money on his car while living in a shitty place
I know Americans struggle to imagine a different landscape, but where I live everything within a hundred mile radius of city center can be categorised as 'moderate crime'. There aren't just 'bad neighborhood's and 'good neighborhoods''.
Garbage “car” for garbage “people”.
A PS5 for 320£? What??
I find that once you have a decent job, you have the money to buy them but don’t have the time to play them. So for their target audience, it is a lot of money
>Don't want to run cable to TV from PC
Does your xbox or PS5 connect wirelessly to your TV? Just get a 2nd computer for your TV area for couch gaming.
>Just get a 2nd computer for your TV area for couch gaming.
No.
I can understand not getting a PC and choosing a console instead. But if you already have one PC i dont get it. Are you buying some games on pc and some games on console? Are you buying some games twice so you can play them on the couch or at a desk? Why not just have 2 devices that can access the same library of game you own?
good for you. I never want to use mouse and keyboard with big TV.
You know controllers work on PC right? Youre not really this stupid are you?
Controllers don't do jackshit when the game requires a mouse and keyboard to even set up (which would be many older games).
Steam big picture mode makes a PC basically a console. You can also just use something like this for the 30 seconds it takes to install a game
>(which would be many older games)
You mean the games you cant play on these consoles?
what is this? i want one now
its a wireless keyboard with a trackpad. They have little remote sized ones as well
Every TV is a smart TV now, are people really using netflix on their PS5 and not just directly on the TV? I don't know anyone that does that.
I use youtube on PS5 rather than it on smart TV because ps5 is faster than smoother.
Rokus are really shitty honestly. my shit-ass TV is a Roku TV and no matter what I do the Netflix app crashes like 9/10 times. What is the good smart TV solution?
“Smart TVs” are the biggest fricking scam in the history of making TVs
I believe that but I just want a good solution to use Plex on a TV. The web version of it does like a million things that the roku version does not. Is there a good option for all of my dumb and gay TV apps?
do anyone know Nvidia Shield TV/apple TV? do anyone know about dolby vision? /v will just tell they are scams.
Yeah a console
There is none. Buy a dumb tv and a hdmi dongle for whatever you want
Do they even sell dumb TVs anymore? I havent seen them, or maybe theyre just really shitty. If you want a top end OLED or something you have to put up with the 'smart' part even if you never use it.
I dont understand why sony hasnt just moved to selling premade PCs and making their games on all platforms. Xbox is pretty much that at this point its just crippled. It seems like they would stand to make much more money doing this and then selling the few games they do make to the entire marketplace of gamers. It seems like just japanese stubbornness to me.
>I dont understand why sony hasnt just moved to selling premade PCs
really you dont? valve did it and it was a total failure. people don't want a PC, they want a gaming console. and the console market is just stronger. it's the reason expensive games are made, no console market no high end gaming.
A console is just a pc, they can market it as a console and have it be a PC and people wouldnt even notice. They can just market it as any game you have on this will run on any beefier version we ever release. Old games run on it too you dont have to wait for your favorite game to get remastered.
Bluetooth connectivity for controllers is janky at best with windows. As soon as you add 3rd party or bad drivers, it can be new shitshow everytime you connect regardless of tech literacy.
No it isn’t, you’re just an illiterate zoomie, like your entire generation
https://futurism.com/gen-z-baffled-basic-technology

Non-idorts are actually confused about this, despite it being the norm for decades.

Yes

No

Gran Turismo
I mostly used my PS4 for exclusives and later a few games on PS plus that I wanted to try without paying full price.
Having a console on the living room always made sense which is why Bill Gates came up with the Xbox. Not gonna convince people to buy a second PC to out on their living rooms. The real alternative is the Steam Deck tho.
> steam Deck
playing on 800p is gay.
Long term it's gonna keep improving.
Streaming is the future
what about people that don't have the internet of the future (euros)

I've got a good big TV with a nice sound system, PC surround sound is wonky plus I prefer to use it on my desk for work and gaming.
I own both a Series X and a PS5, they both have their pros and cons, Series X is cool for crossplay with my PC with GP Ulti, PS5 has great Atmos support.
>PC surround sound is wonky
surround sound is surround sound, it doesnt differ based on the platform, you have the same audio outputs and the same software telling the audio to go through the outputs
unless of course you dont actually have a sound card with surround sound outputs and are trying to use some meme garbage surround simulation thing
It doesn't work half the time on 4k 120hz, even if you have the best hdmi cable with enough bandwidth.
Atmos is a total shit show.
Atmos is also a total shitshow on Series X, only PS5 somehow manages to make it work reliably.
Xbox is shit at non vidya entirely. Fricking stupid DRM check doesn't work right on 4k Blu-Rays.
spotify works great on it while playing games

thank you for your money
It's a shame none of the console ones are good.
>hurr durr I can play red dead redemption 1
Okay, go back to your consolebabby forums, this is for actual gamers who are good at what they do and don't use controllers on PC like you lol
The fact that you're talking down to anyone while simultaneously self-identifying with the cringiest version of "us gamers huh?" is absolutely hilarious, let alone all of the projection.
Let me have a turn. I'm sure you feel very proud of yourself for finally touching low masters in overwatch 2 (I have no idea what their new ranking system is) despite your third world BR ping. Did you buy your 2060 yourself last year or was it a gift from one of your two stepdads? (Both Moroccan somehow) You must be very dedicated to still be playing overwatch 2 in current year. Maybe one day you'll even get invited to a local tourney! (Nothing like evo tho)
Don't try to find reasoning in normalgay logic because there isn't any. They buy things like the PS5 because its the shiny new thing and they think it'll be better for them but they can't actually articulate why, it's just an already assumed fact to them. I had a coworker once, he was going on about buying a PS5 to play... Fortnite.... which he already played on other platforms, he thought that using a PS5 would "up his game", or his "grind", somehow. You can't explain it.
The PS5 and the XBOX Series X can play GTA V at a consistent 1080p and 60 FPS. The Switch can barely even play RDR1.
>t. spent $2000 on a 4090 because it was the shiny new thing
A PC:
excessive fan noise
a lot of heat during summer.
have to deal with MS /NVDA bullshit drivers updates
every time I have to figure out what kind of setting I should use for GPU per game.
This is difficult to even find mouse cursor in 75 TV
As as wage salves, I don't wan to deal with MS and PC anymore after works.
>excessive fan noise
???
unless you use water cooling, even CPU fan noise is high. But I guess most pcgays use headphone.
my consoles are louder, but you do sit further away from them I guess
>consoles
>no water cooling
Consoles are jet engines boyo.
Console players can't complain about fan noise after the jet engine that PS4 was.
Having to wait while updates install is annoying, but it isn't that bad.
PC gaming does involve a bit more fiddling than consoles (especially if you pirate), but graphics settings aren't that hard.
>1080p
>60 FPS
>Vsync off
>Other graphics at max settings
>Gaming time
> PC gaming does involve a bit more fiddling than consoles (especially if you pirate), but graphics settings aren't that hard.
it is all about time and effort. I have enough with MS and PC in my work., because get paid for doing that.
PC's fiddling is upfront, while console has lots of annoyances constantly. Some games are better on console.
m8 i have an xbox series x and every single time i turn it on it wont connect to the internet without a full reboot and every single game requires me to update it before i play and half the time the console makes me update it
atmos is a fricking scam moron
Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it's a scam, little Black person.
i have actual surround sound and its not expensive
atmos is a meme
enjoy your puny soundbar
You have a surround sound system that does not support Atmos while I have a surround sound system that supports Atmos plus the necessary speakers to hear the difference.
You don't.
I can hear 5.1, 7.1 in various formats and Atmos and there is a difference.
You can't, so you're coping.
This entire thread is filled with people very clearly explaining why they opted to go with a console.
You just don't want to hear it.
I like owning physical copies. Steam could at any moment just take your shit away if they really wanted to.
>Steam could at any moment just take your shit away if they really wanted to.
still waiting
I was going to call you cringe contrarian but in all fairness that is a shit reason to get a new console so I understand your disdain for plebs.
Not everyone wants to mess with PC shit moron
I have a PC but my Series X does a few things
>Plays shit PC ports
>Plays old games I can't emulate
>Gamepass box for basement
ps5 can play ps4 games. So it was just an upgrade really
Also I bought mine when they were barely available so I probably made some person miss out and feel sad.
the dualsense is simply the best controller ever made and therefore the most fun way to game.
I'm trying to buy a PS5 for FF7RE but can't win one on Ebay for less than $400. People literally pay $500 for used PS5's with no controller or cables... Like I don't get it. Why not just go to the store and buy a new one at point? Like, why are morons paying $300 for literally broken PS5's? I really don't get it.

Reminder they also killed Rare, introduced paid online to online console gaming, want to strip all ownership away from the consumer by making everything digital-only on Xcloud and Gamepass, and all off their exclusives are mtx-riddled pay-to-win garbage like Sea of Thieves, Gears 4&5, Halo 5 and the PSO2 remake.
It's also funny that some of you think buying Bethesda is going to save them. Bethesda hasn't made a good game since Skyrim, the rest of their games can't even hit metacritic scores of 80. Let's not also forget they let Bethesda put the Horse Amour DLC on the 360 marketplace back in 2007. If they hadn't done that, microtranstations and other bullshit greedy DLC practices wouldn't even be a thing today.
Microsoft is the most greedy, anti-consumer, monopolistic, disgusting greaseball company there is. Stop defending their shit, Ganker.
The SERIES ASS is an shit cucksole designed to scam the consumer renting troony indie games and 14 year old 360 games like goyim cattle.
If you buy and/or support Microsoft in any way, even ironically, you deserve to be branded a homosexual and beaten to death by 100 Muslims.
there are games on it i want to play and i can easily afford it without the spend hurting my life in any way. it's pretty simple honestly.
To me the biggest failing of the consoles is that they can't stand on their own, they need exclusive games to soft coerce people into buying the boxes.
>Unironically, what is the reason that drives people to buy these consoles
Price, they're cheaper and simpler to use than a gaming PC.
And for a lot of people, the PS5 at least is a little bit of a fashion accessory and lux item. Also for most gamers who have PS4s, the PS5 is a direct upgrade
I use my ps5 for couch multiplayer with friends, mainly fighting games
The kind of people who buy these consoles only play fifa, cod, and fortnite
It's generally cheaper to get a ps5 or series x than a similarly capable PC. The PC can be built for close to the cost if you really get good deals / bundles on parts but thats harder and slower than just ordering an xbox from amazon. Of course the amount of money you can save buying games on sales on pc can make up for this but with how many people are day one paying $70+ for a game or just playing whatever is on game pass makes this not relevant to a lot of people. I'd still rather buy a steam deck or something though instead of either of these.
>consoles bad
>because no unoriginal indietrash
Dumbest thread on this board.
They play all the games and are much cheaper than a PC. Also the PS5 still has exclusives, cry about it
Well they're better than PC so that's a pretty big factor by itself. PC still doesn't support Dolby Vision consistently lol
Money. I got my standard edition PS5 for 450€ on a deal and I do not play Multiplayer games.
Often times businesses will get rid of PCs periodically that have reasonable GPU and CPUs for free or basically free. I got like 5 or 6 PCs with 1660ti and xenon cpu for like $100 2 years ago when the company my sister works at did this. I upgraded my desktop around the time so i kept one and stuck my 2070 in it and now i have a 2nd good pc. Even with the 1660ti they run things fine and gave them to some friends who are poor. You can just buy a new GPU as the CPU is fine for most games and boom youve got a good gaming PC for essentially just the price of whatever gpu you want.
Normalgays are conditioned to play on console from a young age back when they had tangible advantages over PC.
Other normalgays just want their CoD/FIFA/Maddenslop or they feel FOMO impulse from an exclusive (even timed exclusive) like FFVII Rebirth or GTAVI.
>no indies
That's what I get most of my game pass mileage out of. Just a constant litany of indie releases.
The main reasons I bought a PS5 to play the latest games after 20+ years of playing on PC were because it was cheaper, it was easier to use and because the vast majority of games I used to play are infested with cheaters. That last part was the main one. Online games on console are of a much higher quality compared to PC because there are far less cheaters. When playing a game like SF6 with cross-play off you are certain you will have a good clean game and wins/losses are all yours. PCs don't have that privilege. Any indie flash in the pan (been playing Balatro for a while) I can play on my PC from 2020.
tl;dr - cheaper, easier and has better experience online.
Seconded, cheating happens on console, but it's rare. Cheating completely ruins the experience of online gaming. I could pay for PS+ just to guarantee fair matches.
Cheating is rife on consoles you toddlers
https://www.pcmag.com/news/surprise-console-gamers-cheat-more-than-those-on-pc
I can't believe white people only make up 41% of modern gamers.
I went back and read the articles, I seriously need to know who they interviewed and how they define cheating. If setting back the clock on animal crossing is in the same realm this is a disingenuous article with bad data.
Also, I don't play bad games, pardon my ignorance.
Counter point: Fighting game Black folk are not even human.
do you just have bad taste or are you the kind of "real ass gamer" who somehow can't process a quarter circle or a Z-motion
Which is why the FGC is composed of high IQ intellectuals like Black folk and spics.
I'm playing Persona 3 Reload on my Series X with Game Pass and it's maximum comfy
Normalgays are moronic they literally don't understand most tech unless it's so dumbed down that you can't failsmartphones are the best example of this most normalgays don't even know that phones have folders let alone where to find them.
A lot of these are slop.
>All those awful games on the Sony side
>Only Bloodborne is any good
Making the case why going Nintendo + PC is the only sane option
Most of Nintendo's games these days are also slop.
>demon's souls 4: gothic edition

Now that I think about it, it’s weird that gravity rush 2 wasn’t nominated. It’s super unique and colorful and I’m pretty sure game journos love that kinda stuff
I was gonna say, the majority of these are shit. Game journos have an almost diametrically opposed view from mine of what makes a good game. I've played a lot of those at huge discount, but they're just shit, and also available on the last gen machine. This is precisely why i haven't invested seriously in gaming for more than a decade. I buy shit hella used and discounted and still get the best highlights only six months behind. Nothing good actually requires more than what the last gen machine can do.
Any pc can emulate all of those nintendo games. Most of the playstation games arent ps5, theyre ps4.
I've never had issues. My main desktop didnt have built in bluetooth for a while so i have one of the xbox controller dongles but now on bluetooth i dont have issues in games ever.
>editing in FF7R
this pic somehow gets more disingenuous every time it's posted, though I think this is the first time it hasn't been lower quality than the last
it's not particularly weird, GR2 got noticeably lower review scores than most games that hit it big among award panels and in general is far too niche to generate much buzz among them. Bayonetta Origins and Clash: Artifacts of Chaos are easily the two most visually striking games released last year and neither of them got art direction nods because of course they didn't, same thing.
No one wants an slopstation like no one wants a xslop dear shill

>buying a PS5 is cheaper than building a PC that runs the games as good as a PS5
>I like owning physical copies of my games plus you can get crazy good deals in the second hand market
>I don't play online games so I don't care about subscriptions
>PC exclusives are often indies or strategy games and things like Factorio and I'm not into that kind of stuff
I like playing on a couch, not hunched over in gaming chair playing DOTA 2 LIKE A FRICKING CHINESE BUG for 1000 hours straight (followed by 700 hours gay)
The redpill is realizing that marketing is meaningless chaff and that you don't know shit about a thing until you can actually handle it yourself. These consoles sell because depressingly few people ask themselves that questions - I know what I'm being sold, but what am I actually buying?
It's cheaper than upgrading my PC.
unironically, it's more fun.
>erm what about pc only titles!?
sorry, not interested in whatever tactical shooter/strategy game you're obsessing over this month. i will play my AAA singleplayer video games in bed, i will enjoy the haptic feedback gimmick in my controller and i WILL be happy. pc is only good for emulation and playing old games like thief or system shock.
My friends own them so I use it for multiplayer games with them, also no real troubleshooting needed.
Should also say that I use it for games that have drm and some other questionable root kit like software in them as well.

I know pcgays can say they use gaming pc but it is never safe.
I guess some people make do with their cellphones for connectivity and don´t need a PC? But the way i see it if you do anything with a PC there is no point on owning a console. PC has mostly the same games, better prices thanks to steam, Epic and the like, uses regular internet and don´t require additional subscriptions, infinite library (you don´t have to re-buy your games when you migrate to a new system) for retro compatibility, can run emulators, can be used for streaming or downloading movies (never worry about a movie you bought no longer being available due to licensing issues unrelated to you) and if all that was not enough you get a PC capable of running all kinds of programs. If you use photoshop or any video editing software or are into CGI creation of any kind it´s a no brainer.
I guess consoles are just the plug and play solution for people that don´t need PCs.
using game PC for other thing isn't safe. no credit card info, address info. and others info. can be used on a computer with steam. I guess poorgays on /v don't care.
Just pirate the games and don´t use steam then. Problem solved.
Why shouldn’t I buy a ps5?
I have a 300 ps4 physical game collection which can all be played on ps5 and ffvii rebirth, rise of the ronin and stellar blade, all being ps5 exclusive and coming out in the next 60 days, are a clear indication that ps5 is now finally getting exclusives that aren’t going to release on ps4 or pc, at least not on day one. You genuinely have a mental illness, it’s like we are in different realities. I have no idea what you’re even talking about anymore “shill”? What? Take your meds
theres a reason why people say stuff like "dont take a person seriously if they have an anime avatar".
someone posting here with anime character reactions is just about the same.
>console war morons are underage
imagine my shock…
Fair enough. Playing PS4 and PS3 games on more powerful hardware is a reasonable motivation.
>and PS3
I fricking wish, your only option is their shitty streaming service for PS3 games on a PS5. Better off with an actual PS3 still.
GTA V is a PS3 game.
I’ve had to upgrade my pc like 3 times in only two years
sure consoles can suck but its way cheaper and easier for the tech illiterate
How? A decent PC or laptop can easily last you for a decade without upgrades.
>decade
>The GeForce 600 series is a series of graphics processing units developed by Nvidia, first released in 2012.
I can play minesweeper with this.
You can play GTA V with that.
GTX 670 and 680 can run GTA V just fine on high settings
Oh wow, cards from 2012 can play a game from 2012 that looks like shit.
>it can play minesweeper
>actually it can play GTAV
>DURR LOOKS LIKE SHIT ANYWAY
consoletoddlers everyone
>GTA V
>2012
>Looks like shit
moron detected, possibly a tendie.
It does look like shit. You'd know if you actually played videogames.
Why the frick are you posting a screenshot of that high of a resolution when it's of a youtube video set to 240p at best?
What do you think looks good, then? RDR2?
BOTW? lol
Even Crysis 2 pre-updates looked better than GTAV, to use an example from the same time period.
The Crysis games were always extremely graphically ambitious compared to other games. GTA V still looks great.
consumer cattle is braindead
I actually own 3 Xbox Series Xs, one for every room. I can play all my games on all of my TVs. Stay mad while shut in your bedroom on your "gayman pc".
>No indies
This is a good thing. Indie games are for by and for trannies.
too poor to buy a pc, That's the only legitimate reason to own one, and even then you could just save up some money to build or buy a good pc lasting 10 years minimum.
If my P.C. is pulling double duty as a gaming and work station, then it needs a desk. It now needs dedicated space in my apartment I don't necessarily have. If it's just for gaming then it can go beside the t.v. and attach directly to it, but I still need the keyboard and mouse to get to my couch/coffee table, which is still a less ergonomic setup. If it's strictly for gaming, then the PS4 does the job more reliably and cheaply, I just don't have piracy and mods. If I don't game a lot, or I'm picky about what games I want to play, the mods and piracy hardly matter. I'll admit it, it's the more casual setup, but that's the reality for most gamers regardless if you're playing Titanfall or Baldur's Gate. To take it even further, most people lack the computer literacy to get the actual benefit from p.c. gaming.
However, you have to be a moron to have current gen consoles. Anybody with a brain could have seen that this gen was a flop. We've hit a hard wall with diminishing returns on graphics; the new gen has nothing to offer. It's so bad that the new gen is being retired while the old one is going strong. The PS4 is somehow still a better console than the PS5, with more reliable hardware, a lower price, and almost total overlap of game catalog. The only thing I'm missing out on is western AAA slop and bad remakes. why the frick would I spend $500 to play Spiderman 2 when the last one was such a forgettable pile of shit, AND they used the assets from the previous game? My next machine will be a p.c., but my PS4 is still chugging along despite being purchased used at half price 8 years ago.
The only good reason I can think of is that it's difficult to cheat on consoles, certain games also have most of their playerbase on consoles too
to play games i dont want to wait for ports of.
owning an xbox is pointless because all their games release at the same time on PC.
but with playstation, they still get timed exclusive and i dont want to wait months or years to get a port of it.
i own a switch, ps5 and PC, so im already set for anything.
To play Xbox One or PS4 games and have faster loading screens. In addition, lots of Xbox One and PS4 games have a XsX or PS5 upgrade.
For Xbone -> XsX and PS4 -> PS5, they are backwards compatible so the upgrade was like $200 after trade in.
I have a gaming PC, Steamlink, XsX, PS5, Switch.
XsX and PS5 are probably my last consoles for MS and Sony. I will probably buy a Switch 2.
Inertia and ease of use. Consoles had a legitimate place in the gaming market in the earlier years and are now effectively entrenched, even though they don't really make sense as they used to anymore.
before they fricked it into the dirt, i was actually pretty tempted to get a series x for emushit and so my dad could play flight simulator.
everyone i know who got a ps5 basically got it as a ps4 pro 2
There is no reason to buy a PS5 when all its games are coming to PC.
Prove me wrong Ganker
You cant
>There is no reason
I don't like pc
Sony haven't changed strategy. Marathon and Concord were always multiplatform. Last of Us part 3, Intergalactic, Wovlerine, X-Men, GT8 won't be ported for 2 or 3 years. Sony will eventually wake up and realise they have to get American production budgets down to improve margin and that means making less movie games and more actual games. Playstation store also matches Steam sales so PC isn't cheaper
what is it about consoletoddlers and pathological lying, abject lack of nuance and no concept of moderation?
Their consoles are worse than a $300 PC (GTX 1060 6G is about $90-100, R3 3300X is about $60-70).
But to a consoletoddler, the only two graphics cards that exist are the GT 1030 and the RTX 4090. To these kiddies, there’s nothing in between these at all.

PC has Xbox Achievements, RetroAchievements as well for older games and emulators.
Now proceed to cope.
xbox achievements are souless
steam cheevos are really soulless as frick
Achievements are a zoomer disease.
cheevos came out on Xbox when zoomers were still in diapers, frick outta here
Precisely. They were the ones who were born with achievements as the standard and don't know of a world without them.
is a PS5 still worth it if I own a PC?
Some games are better on console.
What kind of games?
GTA V and GTA Online at least. I'm a filthy casual.
how are those better on console?
Less cheaters, using a controller is better for them than a keyboard, and sitting on the sofa is comfy.
so just the cheaters thing as you can sit on the couch and use a controller with a pc. I thought GTA had cheaters across the board since its an 11 year old game and thats just what happens.
>less cheaters
wrong:
We're not socially stunted nerds who obsess over their PC because that's all they have going in life. You buy a console and it works. You buy what games you need, play with your friends who also have it, and have fun.
Simple, concise, fast.
Imagine paying for online.
Yes, PCMR, we know. Still better than the Switch, which you are better off emulating.
Imagine PLAYING online
Imagine playing
>mfw have enough for either PS IV or V
The difference in price is crazy considering it's nearly 11 years old & STILL getting games ported![spoiler]
Is a PS5 worth it if I only have a 1080p 22 inches monitor?
i recommend 1440p and at least 120 hz
The PS5 only runs GTA V at a consistent 1080p and 60 FPS.
>120 hz
the PS5 struggles to reach 60 fps in some games, why would you need 120 hz?

Hey moron samegay, point out where it says that 1080p is the base resolution on PS5. You can't because Coper's Nexus is a fricking moron.
For the 22nd time, image reconstruction means it's running lower than 4k and upscaling.

Xbox has gamepass, that's the main reason to buy one, the main reason people buy Playstation is brand recognition but most people use it to play the usual casual normie games like COD or FIFA or Fortnite, nobody gives a shit about its exclusives.
Console users just don't want to bother with building a PC or the issues that come with it
>spend 1500 on a modest but basically really good PC build
>buy some old games on sale
>they don't fricking work
tough to figure out! PC pimps stay winning.
what games are not working on your pc? Those old games probably arent even available on something like the ps5.
that's a great point, because I can access a lot of stuff on my PC that I can't touch anywhere else. Do I wanna play Dancing Eyes? Do I wanna play Max Payne 2? Do I wanna play King & Balloon? The PC is great for that because it gets the job done--barring a little bit of fricking around, which I don't mind, because I'm the kind of person who ended up with a PC in the first place. A PC is a swiss army knife but sometimes I'd just rather use a real screwdriver or something, you know? A purpose-built machine. It's not necessarily an incredibly obvious decision--like right now, I'm on the fence about buying a MiSTer but keep second guessing myself because I can technically already play any of that stuff on my PC, with the caveat that it might not work exactly right. The PC will always have its place but so will consoles. There are tens of millions of gamers who have both.
Also, if a game is really so old you cant run it on windows 11 or whatever you can probably spin up a windows xp VM and play in that if youre really wanting to.
>I want to play console exclusives.
There are like 4 ps5 exclusives (that are not remakes of a ps4 or ps3 game which dont count). Xbox releases all their games on PC as well. Switch is so easy to emulate it you can run its games better on something like a steam deck (you can run even new ones as 60fps+).
exactly. I will jump through some hoops to play Virtual Springfield but that's so far off the mark for literally 99% of the console buying persona--exactly. that's why one can't replace the other.
Indies are fricking trash. Just emulate the good games from 30 years ago instead of playing bad clones that look uglier than games from 30 years ago.
There is only one good reason why people play on console.
Elden ring (and armored core 6) have easy anti cheat, which adds artificial latency. That's why most soulstubers play on ps5.
like 70% of the gaming audience plays one or two games a year + free games so "investing" into a PC doesn't make any sense for them--especially considering they don't see a use case for a PC beyond that. The PC has always been for tinkerers and hobbyists. It was that way in the 80s and most of the 90s and there was a brief pocket from like 1996 to 2010 where it seemed like every home in the world was poised to have a computer somewhere. That era ended. The PC seems stronger than ever as an alternative, as a hobbyist device--but it's always been a separate entity. That's why computers were mostly unfazed by the 1983 crash--because it's a different thing. Chiefly, I have a PC, a PS5, and a Switch. The PS5 is a bad console in its own right--on the other hand, it's the greatest PS4 of all time. Neither the new Xbox or the new PlayStation innovated and they barely even iterated, and neither of them have any good software to show off. The Switch, on the other hand, is a great console. Portable, docked, multiplayer, for families and kids and adults and wymmen, and a big library of great games you can't play anywhere else. The only reason the PS5 was able to successfully launch was because of
>stimmy checks
>scalpers
>supply chain FOMO
>quarantine-era gaming bubble
>the massive success of the PS4 created a lot of consumers who weren't about to leave their digital libraries behind
and in year four they too are in real trouble. Xbox is gearing up for a make-or-break brand shift, and Sony nonetheless is in dire straits too and addicted to bad pipelines and bad ideas. The trick now is to find a way out before the next Nintendo hardware release monster-mogs this generation just like it did to the last consoles when it appeared mid-lifecycle. We've had the same three console players for 20+ years, things will change, new companies will arise. Maybe even ones that were under our nose the whole time.
I got an Xbox because of Gamepass and because i like to play games on my couch and big TV away from my work PC.
The Series X is actually a damn fine piece of hardware, the Quick Resume thing is amazing and Microsoft fricked up by not talking more about it, also earning achievments and in turn getting points for free games is sick.

last three years have been a bit taxing as a console player
lot of kino games came out on PC that werent available on consoles, I'm a console gay and consolegay only since PS1 and I never was this close to getting a PC
stuff like

>age of mythology remake, aoe2 remake
>Total War Warhammer
>Tarkov
>dorf fortress
>a lot of FOTM games
>wow turtle or AoD, some even swear by retail these days
>fallout boston, new vegas remake, etc
idk if I didnt have a personal mac and a work laptop and a xbox series x I'd have invested in a 1250 EUR pc these days.
I still might.
It has indies. It has a lot of indies. Most indies are shovelware though.
I use my PC for developing/programming, not for gaming.
ywnbaw
I don't like console but i do say that games are so much optimised on these pieces of shit and recently i played eldenring on ps and i didn't saw a single cheater ingame also pvp was fricking enjoyable for once because host isn't lagging like they used to on pc
So in simple words, devs don't gave a shit for pc now
>no cheaters
>Well optimised
Simple
im a pc gamer but own a ps5 for these reasons only:
>bloodborne/gran turismo
>convenient bedroom blu ray player
>some games i wanna own physically, some snoyslop i wanna play day 1 instead of waiting for pc release
otherwise, it collects dust and gets used for streaming mostly. the dualsense is my fav controller ever tho, so theres that. my irl friends who own a series x just use it as a youtube/gamepass machine. tbh this generation, a pc and switch is the way to go, or pc and steam deck if ur cultured
This is a correct answer. Blu ray player is a great reason considering those on their own are $100-200, i just pirate my media instead because i dont want discs everywhere.
You can buy or make a PC that is small and inconspicuous. But yeah the steam deck is also a good alternative. It's plug and play and ready out of the box and handles things just fine.
>You can buy or make a PC that is small and inconspicuous
It's possible but not common. Most good deals on cases are gonna be on the big ones. Windows also never had a good UI for couch use.
For 500 bucks I get a damn good build that runs games like butter because games are actually optimised for it
My multiplayer isn’t filled with scumfrick cheats
People that come to my house don’t immediately assume I’m a sexless freakjob
Game pass is the best deal in gaming
>Owning a PC means that people think that you are a sexless freakjob
Yeah
>For 500 bucks I get a damn good build that runs games like butter because games are actually optimised for it

>Game pass is the best deal in gaming
True, and PChads can take advanrage of it too
>buying a PS5 would provide me with sex
We eatin good XChads, we be eatin that pussy fr
My PC is totally fricked I need to get an ssd, a new €400+ gpu and probably a new cpu to run DD2 and MH Wilds when it comes out next year, at this stage it’s just a better investment for me to get a PS5.
Same reason why they buy smartwatches.
I prefer consoles to PC
Huh, those are consoles for losers. Perfect console for this shit stop-gap generation coming thru.
Hardware wise this thing is great
It's small and light and pretty much dead silent even when playing demanding games
>It's small and light
It's a home console.
>pretty much dead silent
Fair, just to avoid annoying other people. Headphones solved the problem of the PS4 being a jet engine for the player.
Do you use headphones all the time? I use headphones exclusively when playing with friends in voice chat. If I'm not voice chatting i have good speakers anywhere im playing games or watching stuff.
Headphones are useful for not annoying neighbours or family members with the sound of gameplay and music.
Ah, i live alone in a house so that's not an issue either way.
Comparing games to crysis isnt really fair. They were used as a standard of top quality for like a decade at least after their release
The Crysis I mentioned was made for the xbox 360 first, with PC second. It took them until a later update to add DX11 and other PC features like tesselation.
there is a significant portion of the population (however old and aging) that has no idea how to obtain video games that aren't retail blockbusters
With a pc your flooded by a trillion of game to play for free.
But i guess the same could be said about console because im not poor
I'll be buying a PS5 Pro
>GTA VI
>the occasional online game without cheaters
>the occasional AAA game that stutters on PC
>the occasional game my friends want to play that doesn't have cross-play
>backlog of older titles
>split screen
Etc
>what is the reason that drives people to buy these consoles?
Exclusives.
i just really wanted to play bloodborne & demon souls.
multiplats are games too btw
yes, games you can play on any other platform. Such as PC where you actually have access to them indefinitely even as you upgrade hardware unlike console generations. Or you buy the much cheaper ps4 and play the games there.
>these consoles?
first things first, no one is buying an xbox.
secondly, it's to play games, all of them, no ifs and buts, no whens, no hassle, just push the button and play
>first things first, no one is buying an xbox.
I dont know anyone with a ps5, i know many people with series x or series s
it's the same shit over and over again, consoles won't go anywhere
>word of mouth (your friends have one, you want to play with them)
>excellent value hardware wise for a casual gamer, you won't build a pc for $500 that will run AAA better than a ps5
>people still like to have physical games
>convience, ease of use
at the end of the day it's a crippled PC, with proprietary software, shady and cringe anti-consumer practices, one single shop and publisher
but shit just works, it has one purpose and it accomplishes it pretty fair all things considered
plus you get bloodborne (never ever) and coomer games
>it's a crippled PC
yes and that's a good thing. Because it's not a PC. it's hardware that has disproportionately strong GPU component. the whole machine is custom-made to support the GPU. PCs for general use having a strong GPU is a luxury. and that will NEVER change.
>PCs for general use having a strong GPU is a luxury.
Delusional.
>Delusional
lol why. it's the definition of a luxury. that's more evident than ever now.
My friends all own Xbox, we play together every weekend. Plus I can play Panzer Dragoon Orta and NG2 on it so that's fricking cool.
you know most things are crossplay these days right?
There are a ton of indies on them tho.
Gates are wide open, there are thousands of trash indies on it, just like steam.
Digital libraries are still tied to a PlayStation account and ppl don’t want to lose access to their games so they buy the current console.
can you play your ps3 or ps4 games on a ps5 unless they hand select it? I didnt think so, and otherwise you dont really have a digital library
Ps4 games are backwards compatible with the Ps5, yes it sucks you can’t also play ps3 games aside from streaming.
Much cheaper than a pc?
>single-handedly destroyed the plug and play and convenience advantages of consoles since 2018
APOLOGIZE to playnite, Ganker
>playnite
is that like stadia?
It allows you to do this
@NintendoAmerica @FBI @McDonalds STOP THIS MAN!!!
Wow it's like Big Picture but infinitely worse, holy penis
steam big picture mode is good too now
These are much, much better than last-gen consoles. At least most games run at 60FPS and loading screens aren't three minutes long.
The real question is: who the FRICK bought PS4 and Xbox One.
I bought an used ps4 pro with two controllers and games for 200€. Great value and I can play a ton of super cheap games on it
>What is wrong with people?
I wonder this everyday
For me it were exclusives and ease of use. I switched to PC and never looked back. I played more video games on my PC in the last year than I played in the last 10 years on my PS4.
my question is with how disappointing they are, how on earth do they market the NEXT consoles now that everyone knows they'll be getting mini-PCs with games that will mostly run on PS4?
because they are gaming consoles and not pcs. "hurr dee durr they are akhtually PCs" means nothing. it's custom hardware with a strong GPU made specifically to play games.
lol entire thread of articulate answers to as why people prefer the console. steamgays respond by sperging, seething and crying.
Console games will always be relevant because everyone has the same fricking machine. Console players don't have to suck it up and seethe quietly because their PC specs barely allow them to play the new game without having to spend another $1k for a new GPU, SSD, or RAM.
When games don't fricking work or are optimized like shit, everyone who owns a console has a voice to call out the bullshittery and make the game developer work to fix the issue. Meanwhile, when games played by PC cucks don't work or are unoptimized, the only answer you're going to get from them is "LMAO, work on my machine! or get a gud graphix card!" And that's the reason why PCs will never replace consoles.
>what is the reason that drives people to buy these consoles? No indies is a big red flag on its own
We don't play PC(don't wanna), and Xbox makes good indie games for the PS5.
Pentiment just came out, HiFi Rush disc pre ordered.
bro what the frick is up with your arm???
Supporting the release of Xbox games on PS5, and making PC wait over a year for PS5 games!
Sony won
I liked Spider-Man, and the PS4 is where all the fighting game players were. Now most people play fighting games on PC, and Spider-Man 2 was a massive disappointment. The only reason I don't sell my PS5 is because I still have hope GTA6 won't be shit
I bought one just to play Rebirth.
