I played it for the first time this year and it was really ahead of its time.
The boost mechanics was revolutionary, the graphics were great, the music (rooftop run) is by far the best, and the story/world was something completely novel.
>The boost mechanics was revolutionary,
What, for a Sonic game?
Faster racing games existed with better collission detection, grahpics have had better with Crysis and no, both games ran like ass so Unleashed doesn't have an edge over that
Adventuregays would still prefer Crush 40 over any song in Unleashed, and the story, while the least autistically shit for Sonic standards, is far from novel, it's oldschool, as the classic games did it did it first.
It's shit on the basis that the framerate is fricking atrocious. It can't even hold 20 fps on some parts of the stages. The framerate drops even more when you boost on some parts. I heard the 360 version has more consistent frames but I never actually tried that version.
>which is not the intended release
Unleashed wasn't intended to be laggy as shit, the game (specifically the graphics) was just way beyond the capabilities of the consoles of its time. Zero frame drops on Series X is the closest to how the devs intended it to be played.
>Unleashed wasn't intended to be laggy as shit,
Then why did it release like that? it's obvious they didn't playtest their trash enough to remove the unneeded about the detail in a game you can blast through all of it in 1 nanosecond.
>Then why did it release like that?
Why does any game release with flaws? Deadlines, not enough dev time or competent devs, poor optimization, etc.

Most don't. Most games don't fricking lag 24/7. Even games with them typically gets docked down for it, but if SEGA dare do that, it's the le e-celebs fault apparently. Despite literally every other Sonic game strives for consistent framerate on day one without patches. It's only Unleashed that failed, hence why the homosexual that made the HE left SEGA because he was likely demoted.
Night levels only become tolerable after grinding out the weird XP stuff having fully beat the game. Otherwise it makes God of War's PUSH SQUARE combat seem deep. Made me want to experience any of the SA1/2 side character levels instead.
Day levels are fun as fug though and play very well. Story was about as whatever as Chip.
>Apotos day >Apotos night >plane stage >Mazuri night >Mazuri day
who thought that long gap between the first 2 daytime stages was a good idea? Not a good first impression
06 and Unleashed were made by the same team. Once they "finished" making 06, they jumped straight to Unleashed regardless of how poorly received 06 was
Absolutely not. It's probably worse than 06, design-wise. Truly awful, terrible, pathetic game.
Duality of Ganker
That's literally not true.

The problem with the game is that only 20% of it is actually fun, and the framerate sucks dick in a lot of areas.
Also if you play the 360/PS3 version you have the story progression tied to picking up those stupid medals.

06 and Unleashed are the only games in the series to have Takao Hirabayashi, Masayuki Inoue and Takako Nagase as game designers
Yes
>now
I always liked it
Sonic World Adventure sounded better. What's the point of changing its name in the west?
Only the daytime stages when modded into Sonic Generations on PC

Basically
>muh framerate
Might as well use emulation which is not the intended release

>muh bad frame rate
Works on my machine (360)
PS3 version's framerate is terrible. Better on 360

>8 Werehog stages
>medal collecting
>world map/villages/shine gates
>backtracking to Pickle's lab
it's tedious
>Apotos day
>Apotos night
>plane stage
>Mazuri night
>Mazuri day

Yes.
Want to make this any more obvious this is a Xdrone?
You can say that all you want but it doesn't change that I get to play at 60fps and you don't
I'm going to frick that ghost.
Very unforgiving game
