The money behind Larian can’t allow BG3 to become too effective as a tabletop game playing engine itself because they’re literally trying to invent their own digital tabletop to charge for and now their own officially franchised hit game stands in their way as competition.
I feel like we’ll see the blood tax paid in pressure from on high limiting scope for future content to make it a pain to turn BG3 into a larger more versatile digital tabletop.
Larian probably doesn’t fear a healthy modding community, but the people who want to charge a subscription for a digital tabletop will hate them.
When it comes to fighting games I honestly see the genre going into another dark age within the next decade due to chasing E-sports, the general dumbing down of stuff and there being too many meh fighting games coming out once again like the 90's.
Agreed, V/VD with part destruction would have been kino.
Other M is still a pretty alright game. It's just one of the worst from a phenomenal series and was remembered even worse due to the drought that preceeded it. Sakamoto should be locked in a hyperbolic time chamber with a billion dollar budget to rerelease a better version or a sequel of his passion project. As long as some one checks in on him to tell him no to the few stupid things, like making Samus's va lifeless.
The story is bad and the controls are rough but a lot of it is how I would handle a 3D Metroid game that isn't an FPS. Really wish Team Ninja was allowed to go crazy with the combat.
Forspoken was a decent game that really could've pandered to the mistreated Infamous/Prototype fans had it not been for the preemptive assassination before its release
P5 Strikers is better, and I say that having not played Persona 5 itself. The format changes and borrowed aesthetics put the musou formula over the top until something great. Sengoku Basara is better than all Musous though.
"Trannies", "diversity hires" or pajeets have nothing to do with modern AAA games being shit. Shitty business practices come from pressure by shareholders who couldn't give two fricks about video games and are solely interested in having the company vomit out a skinnerbox-infested Minimum Viable Product that will give them the fastest return on investment.
You wish. The ugly truth is that the troony and diversity shit actually comes from the developers themselves thinking they know better than everyone and will educate the world on how to be a better person (read: virtue signal)
I'm literally surrounded by liberals who can't shut the frick up about their beliefs. I do not for a second believe that liberal game devs are not brute forcing it into games with a ''I don't care if you like it or not'' attitude.

It feels deeply unfair and unfun when a multi-stage boss gets a new health bar for each stage. Have multiple stages, sure, but have them share a health bar.
Also, bosses shouldn't be able to teleport. It's fine if they can move much faster than me, but instant teleports ruin the feeling of a duel.
FFXVI is 2023 GOTY
TLOU2 is a fantastic video game and most people who criticize this game never played it.
I like Sony movie games, especially the Horizon series and want more cinematic movie games.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a vastly superior game to Hollow Knight in all aspects from art direction, to music, to story to aesthetics and gameplay / platforming.
Arkham Knight is the best game in the Arkham series.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst, while flawed is a far superior game to the original Mirror's Edge which is just a glorified tech demo.
Final Fantasy XI is a far better game than Final Fantasy XIV, even today.
Halo 2 is the best game in the entire series, and not because of the multiplayer but the story / campaign.
Skyward Sword despite its flaws is still a fantastic Zelda game, albeit unfinished. It has some of the best dungeons and bosses in the entire series.
BotW is a better game than TotK, but both are extremely overrated and unworthy of the level of praise they receive, they are far from masterpieces and are overall forgettable and mediocre especially the longer you play them.
Don't think anyone refutes that Halo 2 opinion. The main reason we got 3 was because the Xbox couldn't handle the finale they wanted to deliver, and then 3 dragged out the story. It was still awesome though.
My unpopular opinion is: AI is not idyq, you frick8ng homosexual useless jannies. All AI homosexuals should be permabanned and tbe troonyjannies that allow this crap to pass should never be allowed to moderate anything in their sad, pathetic lives
Pvp invasions should be in every rpg and action rpg.
They should be integrated into the game so deeply it would mean playing a cucked version of the game if you try and mod them out.
Tears of the Kingdom deserves a stronger GotY claim than Baldur’s Gate 3 if for no other reason than for the fact that Baldurs Gate 3 launched with large chunks of game straight up nonfunctional, like Larian has to scramble patch the game into a complete order AS people play.
That shit didn’t happen with TotK. So stronger claim. For being actually finished when it counted. At launch.
Consoles Peaked in the Sixth Generation after that there is no reason to have a Console anymore Consoles are Weaker than PC you need to Pay for Online and their Exclusives are Coming to PC the Best platform to play today is PC
Skyrim dungeons were the best in the series
Yes, they aren't as labyrinthine as in Morrowind or Oblivion, but they make the biggest effort to make each of them a fun, varied and somewhat unique experience, with the biggest number of traps, puzzles, verticality etc. Also vast majority of them has at least some simple story tied to them as opposed to being just another random web of copy-pasted corridors with enemies and loot every here and there
The weird thing about TES is that it has always structured itself basically as a dungeon crawling series, with the game maps being filled with dungeons and most quests requiring you to go to some dungeon, but despite of that they never really introduced any proper dungeon crawling mechanics and what most people seem to like the most about the series are cities, the oveworld and the lore, not the dungeons
>proper dungeon crawling mechanics
WTF are even those? Ability to use the rope? Mandatory hunger system?

Things that make going into a dungeon actually feel like venturing into unknown, hostile and dangerous territory. Some examples are: >big focus on preparation and choosing/buying correct items before going into the dungeon >strongly limited resources (like amount of one-use items, mana, fatigue, equipment space, food, stress etc.) >enemies, traps and other hazards being genuinely deadly if the player does not approach them carefully >limited healing and status effects removal >mechanics that make you wonder whether you should push your luck and keep pressing forward or withdraw with whatever riches you managed to get so far, like limited saving or permanent death penalties
Not all of that at the same time obviously, just some of it.

I see. It's not mechanics, though, more like balance guidelines.
There is nothing wrong with the game not delivering what it promised 5 years ago when the development hasn't even started. If all, people who focus too much on early marketing material and still stay butthurt to this day deserve all the ridicule
Soulsborne/Elden Ring is just a series of mediocre action RPG with boring gameplay which got popularized by normalgays pretending they're into """hardcore""" games
Souls games are barely RPGs. They're even less RPGs than games like Witcher or Skyrim. This behavior is a holdover from the "let's add RPG to a game's description to make it sound better regardless if it fits" phenomenon.
The issue is that those things have replaced older models which were healthier, less scammy and generally more beneficial for the players, like high quality expansions with lots of content you're actually guaranteed to get if you buy it or just playing the fricking game to unlock stuff with no additional cost or rolling involved. If these things stayed in their containment games it wouldn't be a problem, but they're in almost every multiplayer game by now and gradually creeping into singleplayer as well
It's wild to look back at what games used to be like. Take a game like Call of Duty: World at War. They had a single player campaign, Nazi zombies mode, and regular multiplayer. You could also play the campaign with other people. That's essentially 3 games in one. The DLC included 4 maps for multiplayer and 1 zombies map. No skins, no loot boxes, no battlepass. The only thing they could have added which would have made their dlc even better would have been a short campaign.
I like it when games have micro-transactions/skins and shit.
That usually means there's shit like skins that are going to be rare and gone then never obtainable again and when I have them it distinguishes me from other people, which I absolutely love because I love showing off.
Total War Warhammer's DLC is unironically fair for the most part.
There's some dumb shit like one of the Skaven DLCs basically being required to get the more iconic units and the most recent DLC being way overpriced. But the core idea behind it is that it's a la carte where you just buy DLC for races you're interested in and the mechanic overhauls are free for older races. You can still play against DLC races as well that's controlled by AI and sometimes even play with them with outposts in W3.
Don't give a shit about either Dark or High elves? Don't buy the DLC for them. They still get new mechanic updates that affect the vanilla lords/races as well for free, you're just not buying new units.
Compared to Paradox's bullshit like in Stellaris where they make DLC aimed for Federation players but bundle a bunch of stuff that's good for other type of players, so you're basically obligated to buy it.
Graphicsgays are a bane upon vidya.
If you can't tolerate playing on some ASCII shit, you're an eternal casual and b***h.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with enjoying playing a pretty game or whatever. But if you don't want to play a game purely because it has older graphics, you're a shallow b***h.
TLOU2 has a genuinely good gameplay with a very satisfying combat feel, if some shitposter calls it a walking simulator or whatever it's a dead giveaway that he either never played it or at least never gotten past the prologue.
The game's story has big issues, but Joel's death is hardly a major one, I'd say it isn't even among the top 5 of them
TLOU 1 is also a lot worse than 2 in pretty much every aspect: the gameplay is way more janky and unpolished, while the story is just an incredibly predictable and bland mixture of popular post-apo tropes and novels. 2 fricked up on many fronts with its writing, but at least it felt somewhat original and managed to feel emotional here and there.
I don't like souls games simply for the fact that you're an butthole who goes around killing friendly or cool npcs and that the fanbase is filled with psychopaths because of the murder hobo nature of the games.
1 has to be first. After that it's opinion but not putting 1 first is just factually wrong.

Gime your vidya hot take - I will hear you out!
I guess my hot take is most people hate 4 for reasons that either don't make sense or are a microsymptom of a bigger issue they don't acknowledge, likely because they haven't played it. 4 is good; flawed, but a fitting send-off for the series. Anyone that says nanomachines were overused for explaining shit that didn't need explained hasn't played a Kojimbo game because overexplaining shit to the point of raising more questions is practically his signature style for writing exposition.
ingoring graphics, battlefield one is the worst battlefield game ever made >missing content like assignments and challenges >extremely buggy >broken launch >90% of content locked behind DLC >inflated weapon numbers by splitting individual attachments into seperate weapons >no attachments >limited gadgets >no first shot accuracy meaning random spread on single fire weapons like SLR's
some of the issues got fixed, bf2042 may be the only thing worse
Hollow Knight has the entire search action genre completely mogged, dominated, buckbroken. Bloodstained was meh, as were the recent Metroid games and every indie is imitating HK at least partly.
Deep Rock Galactic. The creator Søren Lundgaard said in an interview to kotaku that all of the dwarves one way or another are transgender and that when they shout "We're rich!" at a gold nugget, he said was more of a pointer to them getting money to transition to become dwarven women with big beards
I liked Kingdom Hearts 1 better than 2.
The Pokemon Emerald Battle Frontier was a steaming pile of dogshit (unless you were content with only silver seals), and I'm tired of people (who obviously never actually went for gold seals) clapping like seals saying it was "da best postgame of all pokeman games :)"
TF2 is kind of shit. The time to kill is lower and therefore cannot get a higher score in a short amount of time in a single round ruining the potential for a good K/D ratio. Also the hats are cool but it would be cool if it had skins like in Overwatch and Fortnite instead of millions of hats. There also needs to be more classes honestly because it gets boring with 9 mercs. In my opinion they dropped the ball there while in CSGO they scored really hard
games like VTMB are shitty reddit games and I'm tired of pretending they are not. no one wants to play roleplaying games in 2023 and people who do are probably troonys who cut their dicks off and regret it
Motion inputs are archaic and the FGC is full of autistic spergs.
There should be a time and place for games that use motion inputs for the people who like them, but the games that allow you to use simplified controls will almost always have better success than the ones that pander to the old guard.
Also GBF Versus is the only good Arc System game, GGgays need not reply.
final fantasy, sonic, pokemon, and some other franchises thatr gamers like to harp on their "downfalls" are honestly doing fine and the games that bought "their downfall" are better in retrospective despite being flawed as heck, the same gamers however, are absolutly shitty and are laughingstocks within the meta gamer community in secret
>and the games that bought "their downfall"
There aren't really any games that brought the "downfall" of any of your examples. Gamefreak and Squeenix have done little but shoot themselves in the foot and Sonic has basically 0 direct competitors.
If an IP abbandons and doesnt sell the game anymore they shouldn't really be mad about some rusky or pajeet distribuiting pirated copies for free, since they re not going to be sold anyways and thus do not earn or lose money anymore from that game since it is discontinued.
It would be like some homosexual cutting off dried grass from an abandoned property to use it as kinddling for a BBQ, only for some distant owner of said abbandoned proerty suing the guy for tresspassing and destruction of private property, even when there are no walls or even a fence, and all he took was dried grass, and actually raise the properties value by making it look slightly more presentable.
I know it is unpopular because most homosexuals will conplain that "MUH ITS THE OWNERS PROPERTY, YOU ARE STILL STEALING, YOU SHOULDN'T DOWNLOAD ABBANDONEWARE GAMES NOOOOOO".
Black person, it after a ceartina time has passed, if you throw something in the trash, it is no longer your property, you just discarted it away.
It would be like still having ownership of all the trash i threw away after handing it over to the trash collectors or just throw it on the street.
elden ring is unbalanced and unfair with terrible input-reading
the previous games didn't rely on cheap tricks like this to give some sort of challenge
Most people who play enough video games to get into singleplayer survival crafting games are deeply introverted and their ultimate fantasy in such a genre is to frick off into the wilderness and build a place all their own away from the whims of others, so you can't be surprised that games about managing people as an administrator or whatnot are nowhere near as appealing to them and generally sell less than Minecraft/Factorio/ect. clones.
Half life 1 is dogshit
I genuinely dont understand the hype for half life. I tried playing it twice and dropped it both times. It was just dull.
Soul games are trash and their fans just pretend that their rehash slop is somewhat superior to other industry typical rehashes
But i am having fun and you are seething (?)
You are corrrect tho.

If you mean Ozma then you are absolutely correct
Dark souls is not hard. It just expects you to pay attention to the levels and enemies and devise clever strategies (only ds3 and onward were designed with roll spam in mind).
>walk through door
>check left and right for ganks
>none
>enemy drops on you from a room you can't see because it's above the door
By that logic, there is no hard game. You just need to pay attention and act accordingly.
Video games back then were better

Okay, I have to agree here, this thing sucked.
But yeah, dungeons get bad rep because le every quest go to dungeon, and that sure isn't good but it has nothing to do with actual dungeon quality.

Nobody forces you to spend a fortune on them same as nobody forces you to be an alcoholic or a smoker.

Interesting. I almost agree. I'd say G2 = G3 > G1 = Risen 1
Old games should be remade.
I don't like souls games simply for the fact that you're an butthole who goes around killing friendly or cool npcs and that the fanbase is filled with psychopaths because of the murder hobo nature of the games.
Most of them attack you on sight though.
And the few who don't, you don't have to kill at all.
I don't like the newest versions of GTA, and Red Dead. Final fantasy games are shit.
3 >1 > V > 2 > 4
1 has to be first. After that it's opinion but not putting 1 first is just factually wrong.
I guess my hot take is most people hate 4 for reasons that either don't make sense or are a microsymptom of a bigger issue they don't acknowledge, likely because they haven't played it. 4 is good; flawed, but a fitting send-off for the series. Anyone that says nanomachines were overused for explaining shit that didn't need explained hasn't played a Kojimbo game because overexplaining shit to the point of raising more questions is practically his signature style for writing exposition.
ingoring graphics, battlefield one is the worst battlefield game ever made
>missing content like assignments and challenges
>extremely buggy
>broken launch
>90% of content locked behind DLC
>inflated weapon numbers by splitting individual attachments into seperate weapons
>no attachments
>limited gadgets
>no first shot accuracy meaning random spread on single fire weapons like SLR's
some of the issues got fixed, bf2042 may be the only thing worse
We should kill 2B
there haven't been a genuinely good game released since banjo kazooie
Cataclysm had the most fun class design of any worlo expansion.
Hollow Knight has the entire search action genre completely mogged, dominated, buckbroken. Bloodstained was meh, as were the recent Metroid games and every indie is imitating HK at least partly.
V>IV>III
Deus Ex isn't the best game that Ganker make it out to be alongside with Dark Soul 1 or Demon Souls.
Deus Ex is playable, Souls are not.
I didn't say it isn't.
I still enjoy Deus Ex more than Soul, but it wasn't the 10/10 I expected.
TOTK and BOTW are soulless ubisoft clones and I'm tired of pretending they are not. We must return to the classic format
True. Nu zeldas are the epitome of anti-adventure.
Having trannies in video games is alright if they contribute to the story
Name such story.
Deep Rock Galactic. The creator Søren Lundgaard said in an interview to kotaku that all of the dwarves one way or another are transgender and that when they shout "We're rich!" at a gold nugget, he said was more of a pointer to them getting money to transition to become dwarven women with big beards
Fallout 4 is the best Fallout game
Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone are alot better than any valve games and have more soul
games like VTMB are shitty reddit games and I'm tired of pretending they are not. no one wants to play roleplaying games in 2023 and people who do are probably troonys who cut their dicks off and regret it
GTA peaked at IV
online multiplayer of any kind is cancer and anyone who plays that kind of game is actively killing the games industry
There's nothing wrong with having people who are trans in video games
There is room for another console.
>reddit/twitter style post homosexualry
Motion inputs are archaic and the FGC is full of autistic spergs.
There should be a time and place for games that use motion inputs for the people who like them, but the games that allow you to use simplified controls will almost always have better success than the ones that pander to the old guard.
Also GBF Versus is the only good Arc System game, GGgays need not reply.
storytelling is going to get a lot better once we dig even deeper into racial constructs
it's going to take a while though to get out all the cliche stories everyone feels like they HAVE to tell because oh god they just have to.
final fantasy, sonic, pokemon, and some other franchises thatr gamers like to harp on their "downfalls" are honestly doing fine and the games that bought "their downfall" are better in retrospective despite being flawed as heck, the same gamers however, are absolutly shitty and are laughingstocks within the meta gamer community in secret
>and the games that bought "their downfall"
Every game focuses on crafting and building items instead of managing towns and governance to keep people stupid and autistic.
apparently i played it exactly a year ago too
Most people who play enough video games to get into singleplayer survival crafting games are deeply introverted and their ultimate fantasy in such a genre is to frick off into the wilderness and build a place all their own away from the whims of others, so you can't be surprised that games about managing people as an administrator or whatnot are nowhere near as appealing to them and generally sell less than Minecraft/Factorio/ect. clones.
