She's the second most played female in Strive if you don't count Bridget and while the numbers are harder to get for Xrd pretty similar there too. I have no idea what +r's numbers look like but she's certainly not rare there either.

Yeah Ram is first in Strive, Baiken is second/third going by ratingupdate. She wasn't very popular in Xrd because the swords are tricky and all her strength is in fancy setplay that takes a lot of lab work, but I feel like she's probably gotten a bit more common since that image was made, because of Strive Ram players wanting to try her out and Solstice running trains on people in tournaments making her look cool.
Baiken is squarely Top 3 in +R and not as technical as some of the other top tiers once you can slam out her guard cancels consistently, so you see them around. Testament is still the most common of +R's top tiers though.

Her pokes & whiff punishes are really strong, Tatami is crazy good, and the ability hitconfirm into an actual combo is very useful in that game even if it's about the damage of two normals from most characters just because of the consistency. In both Strive & SamSho she just has these excellent air normals as well.

Lily is a weirdo of a grappler because she does have some solid meterless combos but her grabs do more damage than almost any of them yet she has the mobility where you can get rounds where you probably won't need to throw them out on certain matchups.
She is very strange, some people were saying she's an unfinished character and it sort of feels like that. Though I could just be overthinking it and she's just meant to only be played with modern.
She is definitely one of the better Modern Controls options though she can function in Classic if you play casually. Competitively she is a pain because of the amount of characters that is a hassle to play against if you are trying to get Wind stocks, I'm not shocked she is generally seen as a bottom tier but it says a lot about the game where she can be labeled that but she is still fun to play and can hold her own in the right hands.
The tiers are pretty compressed at least currently. I also suspect it'll keep getting better universally like SFV did which was way worse at launch than SF6 is. Maybe something like making DR more expensive and light tuning on certain characters like DJ's damage.
Been playing SF for decades, and I got my ass handed to me repeatdely by a modern Lily while i was playing as Gief. Then I realized they were just using the same few combos and dispatched them, but in good hands that weren't as predictable I could see modern Lily being a serious threat

I dont know man, people seem to be hitting me a lot but never killing me, whereas if they hit me half as many times on normal I'd be dead for sure. More than anything, I feel like its stopping people from actually learning to play, and when they get stomped by someone who knows what theyre doing it makes them want to quit.
That being said, some players are already using Modern in high levels and doing well with it, we wont know whats really good for a month or two. Tokido seems to like having a one button super to react to anything, but he's a b***h ass homie

You have less moves overall. Not every normal, not every strength of special. Some normals you only get as part of the auto combos and you need to awkwardly go into and out of the auto combo mode to access them. Then obviously autocombos and the easy input specials/supers deal 80% damage but that will only matter for reaction stuff and not punishes for people who bother to learn Modern seriously. Ultimately I think 3 or 4 characters will be viable in Modern and MAYBE one will be found to be better in it outright. Kind of like that one BlazBlue character that's actually better in a tournament setting using Simple controls.
Strong for newbies, but they will never get far.

Since Lily has all of his moves, it seems to erase the possibility of T.Hawk being added later as DLC. Well Haggar has literally exactly the same moves as Zangief
LITERALLY only Lariat and they still differ since Gief Lariat is an anti-air and/or combo tool that can let him avoid fireballs without jumping while Haggar Lariat is a straight invincible reversal that costs health. Besides that their only similarities are a headbutt air normal and being grapplers. Slam Masters 2 alone is proof that Haggar in a more grounded fighter than MvC can still work very differently from Gief, and if you combine that with some MvC influence you have a mid-range grappler more focused on resets and counterpokes that can actually challenge long-range characters with Violent Axe, Hooligan Toss and THE PIPE. Cody is still THE Final Fight rep in SF to me but Haggar being too similar to Gief is a full-blown meme and I'm sad Nakayama fell for it.

Stay far away, try to hit him with projectiles if you have any, bait out his pokes and hit him as hard as you can when theres openings. He's tricky, but usually if you stay on someone playing as him enough they usually start to show openings/crack under the pressure

Rashid is pretty cool and well-liked, people just tend to behave resentful toward top tiers and Rashid was good for the entirety of SFV's life. He's actually fun as a character and in terms of gameplay. Since FANG flopped so hard in terms of gameplay however, I expect AKI's similarities to be superficial at best. I really don't know what to expect from her, I hope she's fun since I do like to play villainous SF characters but I'm not jiving that well with Juri or JP.

Ed is Psycho Boxer, a mix of Bison & Balrog. AKI is known to be FANG's adoptive daughter/student and she's shown wielding some sort of claw. A lot of speculation is about how the two of them basically consolidate the Four Kings (SFV version) into two characters.
That would suck, Vega is mechanically impossible to replace so I don't get why you would even try.
The only ones I'd say are in that category are Sagat, Sakura, & Cody at this point (plus Akuma if we didn't know he was coming). Alex is in the next tier below with the likes of Ibuki & Dan.

The most damage I have ever taken in a combo was from a silver Chun Li. Even after constantly fighting diamond players in the hub
I fought a Gold 1 Chun today that had some wonky rejump juggles that I guess either gave her better damage or oki than launch into full toe taps. Thankfully I just hit Gold with my second character right before maintenance so I can push for them to get into Plat by week's end.

From what I remember from the first time around Gold was fine but there was a real wide gap between Gold 1-2 and Gold 4, but then in Gold 5 you get people who overestimated themselves for placements and you can push yourself to Plat 1 faster than it took to get to Gold 5.

Use your full toolkit. Be able to do a combo longer than Target Combo xx Gladius or Target Combo xx EX Dimachaerus, L Quadriga. Have a proper mixup or two in your back pocket (empty Drive Rush into Enfold is a good one to end rounds with). Punish shit in neutral with Level 1. Remember that she actually has i-frames on Level 2 to make up for Level 1 lacking them.

Level 1 is more of a whiff punish or callout, it has just a little more range than people assume. The armor is for a reaction to something and holding it is to try and deal with something you're not sure on the timing of but will leave them open. It's a decent panic button if you don't get predictable with it, and after a Punish Counter s.HK it's an option to get damage from it without spending Drive.
In terms of Drive Rush combos, the BnB is to get the Dimachaerus Groundbounce around midscreen and go for Drive Rush b.HP xx Phalanx. M Phalanx is the normal ender but if close enough you get EX Phalanx into a wall splat instead which you can turn into Enfold or Fully Charged Level 1. In the corner that same ground bounce can get you fully charged b.HP xx H Gladius. Also MP target combo xx Drive Rush to b.HP is a decent option.
Two last things to differentiate you:
1. Actually use her standing overhead and the f.MP target combos. I constantly forget about the overhead and f.MP leads into either a low to catch people into oki or a big kick that is uniquely Super cancellable.
2. Charge ALL of her Heavies when it's time to play mindgames. Held j.HP & j.HK can really frick with their response before it comes out, and if you hold a bit later into the jump you'll just land and can just do something else, usually Enfold.
didn't think of ending with phalanx. have been messing with ex donkey kick for wall carries but ex phalanx in corners can lead to charge c.hp and shit that i've been messing with
nothing too surprising because its really just taking what i get from trial and applying it.
not sure but hp punish counter into mpmp target combo is a lil tight but the timing is easy to get into after you do it a bit.
punish counter s.hk has been fun to combo from with a dr after. not sure if its worth meter to go into any ex moves though after when you can donkey kick it

Why do that route? It's a waste of Drive. If you confirmed the target combo just go into 214PP, if you got one of her cancellable Heavies then you can just go into 214HP. The entire point of the EX is that it's the Heavy one but it combos from MP>MP (and anti-airs like the Light).

I feel like JP is very overrated right now.
He probably has favorable matchups against Marisa, Jamie, Gief, Lily (characters that basically have no favorable matchups anyway) and maybe Guile as well which is pretty impressive considering how insane Guile's matchup spread is but pretty much everyone else can kinda just run him through if they know his framedata.
Juri, Luke, DJ and Kimberly in particular feel completely unwinnable assuming around same player skill-level.
And sure, rounds where the opponent guesses wrong 7-9 times in a row and keeps getting hit on approach and just dies happen even against those characters, but much of the cast can basically win the round with just one read jump-in with how grimy oki is in this game and how shitty his defence is.
I still can't believe some dumb makoto ape got mad enough at 3 iconic sf characters to make this. Capcom likes them, they're recognizable worldwide and atleast 30k people combined like them enough to enjoy playing the three of them.

I play Blanka and I'm stuck in platinum. I should be in Gold at the very highest. I can't get Kimberly/Cammy/DJ/Ken off of me after a knockdown. I can only ex upball a couple times before they fake meaty and punish my upball. Then they go right back into jab to drive rush cancel combo + super. My little 4frame standing kicks have shorter fricking range then their mediums which they are great at cancelling into drive rush combos.

it's a gigantic joystick with a bunch of huge buttons, and you use use your two human hands to play fighting games with it. your human hands will get better at moving the joystick and pushing the buttons correctly if you practice by playing the game. I don't have a YouTube video that will do these things for you, but I am sure there are several that basically repeat what I just said to you.

There's a lot of little things that can help. Learning how to hold the stick is the first major one. There are a bunch of different "grips" that people use but I typically see most people using pic related. This video goes over a few different grips, find what's comfortable
For other stuff this video is pretty solid for people completely new to sticks and is what I used to help teach my friends how to use stick.

I was a lot like you all when I was younger, clamoring for characters in other games. As I grew older however I came to really appreciate SF2, and the World Warriors especially. Honda by now is actually my favorite Street Fighter character. I noticed over time too that there is an extreme and disappointing lack of appreciation for the bizarre when it comes to character design. I don't like that.
I like Dhalsim as a character but in terms of the game he exists to be played by 0.1% of technically-minded autists in the playerbase, completely ruin the pace of all matches you play against him, and rob tournament brackets in the middle period of the game’s lifespan because not even half the pro players know the matchup. Even playing keepaway with Gief and Honda is more fun.
