    1. no funding. despite the game industry being the biggest entertainment industry now, all our funding is in films and tv and other media. more grants and gov support exist for poetry than for video games.

    2. the entertainment industry funding from gov is dominated by left wing stuff. it means even if you do come across one of the few gov grants for game making, you wont get it unless it is about aboriginal or minority representation. also the people creating it have to be minorities too. you also can't make a cool aboriginal story with dragons because it has to be ''accurate'' and approved by aboriginal representatives lol. (for money usually)

    3. australia is a very hard country to make money in. you have regulations that demand certain expensive standards and minimum payments for anyone working on games that only big companies can afford. thus, no new companies in any industry. and meanwhile all our products come from overseas because thats a lot cheaper for people to make without those standards so they can sell it cheaper here.

its nice if ur a very typical "Australian"
if u just want to get shitfaced, frick bawds, ugly prostitutes, go to the beach, watch sports, and do some outdoorsy stuff

but if u are anything but that then its miserable
even all the foreign students and immigrants who go there are going there for the same thing.
I didn't think it was that bad until I left and I saw how many more other people I could find who weren't that extremely specific type of person and it made me really hate the place.

I visit some of my family in shellharbour still and stay for like a week or so occasionally, so il go do and stuff in wollongong and its the same shit still, its a little better than it used to be but jfc its so shit there.

if u actually meant the university, then yeah its just kinda shit and not that good, I think its apparently good for some stuff? but its mostly kinda shit and bludgey, but I guess apparently people don't think of it that badly like I do, so maybe if u want something cruisey and easy that wont look awful then it might be what you want.

hell most people will never be able to afford even a bit of land and you cant exactly mine on it if you do, lol. requires approval that is expensive so only big corps can.

as a regular employee you can make a good wage working in the mines in the middle of the desert 15 hours drive from the nearest city but thats not the same thing as starting and running a business.

There are a few studios, mostly on the indie side of things, but generally rather small. Black Lab Games is fairly local to me for example. Bigger ones get snapped up by international companies like EA and 2k. Which inevitability leads to them getting shut down once they are no longer needed.

There is some funding that goes out at a state and federal level, mostly Victoria way. However these go to the worst kind of hipster shit that either never makes it to market or is just a plain mismanaged disaster that it makes the actually corrupt politicians look competent. And since covid hit I don't think they funded anything again.

Same thing happened to the textile industry in Tasmania back when Gough Whitlam opened us up to his beloved Chinese market. Textiles employed more than 10% of Launceston at the peak of the industry.

    >Why are there no game studios in Australia?
Because Australia has one of the most authoritarian governments in the world, and any kind of art that's edgy in any way would probably cause a full-scale government investigation.

Australia's hostility to video games, both because of importing and their anti porn laws means anyone reasonably competent leaves.

Gov is very hostile to indie makers as well.

    Australia has fallen

    >Your rent will be AT LEAST 60% of your income (now more like 66%), and if you don’t want to pay those exorbitant rates you’ll have the pleasure of a 2 hour commute, BOTH WAYS, on our fricked up australian roads. Did I mention it will cost you almost $1000 just to get your paperwork finalised so your car can even be driven on the road??
    >the law abiding, boot licking, working aussie that allows his government to spit all over him, while doing absolutely nothing about it
    >go to uni and rack up $80k+ in HECS debt that you will never pay off, getting thrown into a never ending chain of group assignments with derros and foreign students on daisy chained student visas
    >Outsource to India and China
    >WMAF everywhere
    >Politicians that sell your future down the river for the short term to stay in power or inflate their real estate portfolios
    >Red tape on every fricking thing; good luck trying to open a business
    >She'll be right culture that just becomes subservient bend me over a frick me in the ass when it comes to actual rights
    >No fricking civilian rights in a dogshit constitution that was clearly written for a group of people never expected to have significant rights
    >Everyone is paying over half their income to their rent or if they're lucky a mortgage their boomer parents helped them get a hold on, at least the latter have an asset
    >Need to take out a loan for groceries
    >Floodgates were opened to India and Chinese, major cities are fricked
    >Anti intellectualism culture where people take pride in being ignorant
    >No ingenutiy or emerging industries; entire economy is built around selling rocks overseas and our land to Chinese

Literally the only good aspect of Australia is this. I'm living pretty fricking comfortably on the dole with rent assistance and a friend who's doing the same.

Did you know there's a special US work visa just for Australians so they don't need to compete with the rest of the world for H1B slots?

Aussies truly are our greatest allies

Yeah, same thing for Canadians. Some countries get more privileges than others, that's how it works

Australia recently spent 8x their defenes budget to buy a few submarines that they want place next to Shanghai or along the Chinese coastline.

They have signed up for war

Mostly that and living expenses here being fricked.

-This post was posted on flubba wubba nigar goon land and we acknowledge their invention of the rock, stabbing stick, throwing stick, and tapping sticks as the greatest things ever and they have an unbroken culture reaching back 150 bazillion years, we won't mention the child rape, general violence, and inbreeding, even though the tribe was wiped out long ago and everyone saying they are part of it now is more white than I am and I am so white you need sunglasses to stare directly at my lilly white ass in sunlight.

      Jews, same as everywhere else.

Kinda hard to stay only white when the white countries stopped shipping their crims over.

It's really not. Tell women to frick off to the kitchen and nonwhite to gtfo. Further in the future all societies that refuse to do that will be replaced by the ones that will simply due to attrition.

Literally no one cares about Abbos unless they live in Alice Springs.
Abbos are at best a distraction the government uses when they want you to focus on something else for a bit.
