So what was the actual strat aside from having the latest broken character/mirror
VH4? That was from last year so I just brute-forced it this time. I think originally you needed to focus attacks on Akuta (using someone who applies aggro) so the soldiers dying don't charge his zeal, and possibly wait for him to use his Chain 3 before killing him the first time since revives don't stack. I think the broken character method the first time around was having someone that nullifies barriers (which was new at the time) but I did it without that.

Not with gems. You should always buy the stamina and skip tickets on the zen section, they're your primary source of stuff.
That was the worst month for trying to clear the shop since I was a brand new player; stuck with just a 60% point bonus. Ended up not even buying all the souls for the two limited characters, only bought out the perma in case I roll her later.
I used to buy skip tickets from the zen shop but nowadays I only buy stamina, XP items, and souls; I get my skip tickets from the expedition currency shop. I think I did the math once and realized the skip tickets are relatively cheaper in that shop compared to the other items that appear in both.

Also I guess Kuuya is forever on braindead territory. Thought she had a chance since even Yuzuha got a playable version, guess not.
Kuuya's VA retired in around 2008 after some sexual harassment scandal in her company or something. I think that's also why Kuuya and Sakuya don't get mentioned in the later games.
They will have to change the VA but I'm not sure how if people care about Kuuya enough for that to happen.

I'm in the same bind now, glasses Orishiro showed up on the first pull and it was Yuzuha. If I was at step 3 of 5 like you I'd keep going (also missing 3 out of 8 off-banner) but I should probably save my gems now.
If he already got one of them then there's a 50% chance of getting a dupe; you're only guaranteed a banner character, not necessarily one you're missing.

Looking through the official twitter account, I noticed that the Kuuya announcement tweet surpassed even Rinne; only Hakuoro has gotten more likes recently (I assume the original Haku tweet got huge response too but I can't be bothered to look that far back).
Clearly the playerbase consists mostly of originalgays, I can't imagine people who started with MoD being that interested in Kuuya, in contrast to people waiting for 20 years for her to get some attention again.

Jokes aside I started with MoD, went through MoT and went for the original since people said it was pretty good too so I don't think it's too farfetched to think most of us are refugees from both games. IMO she is one of the most memorable parts of 1 so she remains on the brain compared to other "antagonists" specially since she leads into the finale which is full of kino.
They just released the remake of the original game a couple of years ago so Kuuya is still pretty fresh even for people who are new to the franchise.

My 10 tickets on Haku alt banner got me the new mirror and Kuroma's alt, excellent; definitely glad now I didn't keep rolling the healer banner after getting Yuzuha.
I feel like I got Natori a lot last time we had one of those, gotten her once this time. The only characters I'm missing from that perma pool are Karura, Oboro, and Urto; it's the same pool for the infinite reroll banner so I guess I'm going to wait until I've done all my free rolls before doing the reroll one.
I got Unishya(?) from the reroll poll and honestly I don't have any more patience to endure it. Besides I really need light units and I'm not spending my shit until either Orishiro becomes playable or Matsuri gets a alt.

The worst part is that the guaranteed 3* has the same banner/non-banner ratio as the rest of the rolls, so while you have a 50% chance of an event banner character (1%/1%) it's only a 33% chance on the higher-rate banners since the additional 3* chance is all off-banner (1%/2%)
Well that was quite the high and low there; went ahead and swiped so I could roll that special banner, the two guaranteed mirrors were trash but I got lucky and randomly rolled the ara ara shotacon, frick yeah.
Then I use the ticket for a guaranteed non-dupe 3* and it gives me Urto of all fricking characters. The pool included nearly all the more recent permas and descendence banner exclusives and I get one of the 3 old permas I was still missing. Now just watch me roll her again in the next few days with my remaining free rolls.

Finally got my Haku all maxed, took a little longer than I expected. Weird though, I feel like I barely got stronger. I'm guessing it's something with mirrors being relatively underleveled. The lack of translated resources really hurt for me, I keep second guessing mirror choices. Oh well. Gonna wait for end of the month to see if I can figure out who to level next.
I just looked through my Play Store history and realized I've spent about $1k on this, frick I've gotta stop. That has to be more than I've spent on all other mobage combined considering I usually just buy monthly packs, if that.
Haku requires a team of strong characters loaded with mirrors with strong chain 3 effects so you can fire them all off twice in a row at the start. Then ideally Haku himself has two of the -25% cooldown on chain 2 mirrors, with that you can barely pull off two more chain 3s with the rest of your team in the 90 second limit of dungeons and regular stages. But doing the latest dungeon down to my fourth batch of characters and mirrors I found renting a Haku was useless because my team wasn't strong enough to benefit, renting a Rinne to carry me worked out way better.

Lately I've been skipping pact 10 on some new characters, especially support types. After Rinne's original banner I suddenly realized I was sitting on 1800 generic magatama while I was constantly short on pact items. So I'd burn an extra 130 magatama on some characters and save the pact items for characters who got a good pact 15.
I went and rolled anyway. Got her so I'm happy. Gonna wait for the next raid schedule to see who I should be raising.

Yeah, but it's pretty silly unless you're a whale; that's 90k gems in a single banner. And at 1% rates plus the guaranteed 3* at 100 and 200 you'd probably roll the character by then anyway, it's pretty much just insurance against abysmal luck.
Of course I'm not going to be able to whale anymore anyway thanks to fricking Google finally completely shutting down paying for JP games with an NA Google Play account. It's probably for the better with this as I've spent enough already, it hurts more in games where I'm just paying for monthly packs.

Atuy just got an alt a few months ago, while the recent Nosuri addition wasn't a standard alt. On the other hand Fumi has never gotten an ordinary alt, only her alternate/future timeline version. If it is Fumi though then that's a hard pass for me.

With the rerun banners popping up it finally hit me that my S.Nekone has a 20% point bonus for the event and I hadn't been using her, whoops
I guess I realy oughta evolve Silver mirros, my mirror luck fricking sucks.
I've managed to miss every single mirror that removes the character's own evasion, thus preventing me from utilizing all those characters that get buffed when they lose evasion. I have two that remove damage nullification but Benawi is the only one that really benefits from those.
It's tempting to roll a rerun banner with that Kuon mirror in there but the mirror side is a split banner so frick that. I might just wind up saving gems all the way into next month.
I already got what I wanted so I'm strongly considering just dumping everything I get into mirrors because honestly I'm still using shit ass mirrors I got from summer last year. It does make me happy that we have a safety net for both mirrors and characters now, I guess I can simply always save to have 30000 but having shit for mirrors sucks balls ngl

Lads, I went and did. I fricking screenshot every damn line of dialogue in Matsuri's character quest and had Google lens translate them. My experience with it is that it can make you understand the general gist of what is being said. Since he is gonna throw it on other translation applications he is probably gonna be fine. IIRC the rance general on /vg/ had a pastebin on a lot of translation tools.
I also plan to put the 117 screenshots I took through Yandex/DeepL/Whatever the frick else to try and see how much gets changed for insurance so I hope it isn't too far off. DeepL is probably the best but I have to figure out a way to convert images into text and that's gonna be for another time.

We don't know. I'm pretty sure normal Kuon is on every pool so you can get her out of rolls whenever you roll. You just missed Swimsuit Kuon though, think she only returns in February now

It depends on the mirror. Maxed mirrors can serve as stat sticks and you always want cooldown reduction mirrors maxed for the enhanced effect.
Farming the event shop isn't so much about strength as long as you can farm one of the very hard stages. The points they give are all the same.

If there's PvP I haven't seen anyone discuss it. It's not very p2w, units are generally serviceable as long as you're willing to invest in them, there are some very good hyper limited units tho. There's a special gacha at the end of each month that runs some good limited units too so you can plan accordingly. There is powercreep as well but you'll never feel like you're that far behind since most units are decent.

Some events are rerun. The game only saves the story of each event in the archive. Gameplay is basically priconne except the game takes like 20 minutes tops to do your daily shit. Very side game material.

It's decent for a gacha story. Interesting enough to keep me reading but the update schedule is too slow so I always forget what happened previously. OC cast is also pretty good. Took me a while but I actually like them now which is pretty rare for gachas based on existing series.

I really hate dealing with the dungeons though, haven't touched them in ages, just left them sitting at lvl 26/20/15/10/5/5. It's easy enough to assemble a team of all your best characters and mirrors to clear each dungeon as far as possible, but then if you want the passive rewards you have to go back and re-clear them with a weaker team that doesn't tie up characters and mirrors needed elsewhere. Running out of decent mirrors is the biggest problem since I have enough characters to go around at this point.

Nevermind, I was able to stick with the same team though it took several tries to beat 40. Timing was really tight with barriers keeping Hakuoro alive near the end.

A really crappy one, for a long time you were only guaranteed a 3* (not necessarily the banner) after 100 rolls, recently they added a true pity but only after 300 rolls. And rolls are way more expensive in this than something like Priconne or BA.
The best banners are the ones they recently finished with restricted pools of characters and a pity after just 50 rolls that let you get some of the limiteds you missed

What is God Kuon's lore? I don't know anything about her other than she's hot and she's channeling her father. She's also carrying me through content I shouldn't be able to do.
There isn't much lore about her for now. She is able to lead people in and out of whatever the Lost Frag world is. Atleast she does this for Raikou in the event story and Fugito/Oshtor in her character story. The character story also had her talking with someone who most likely was god Haku. It was very sweet.

So looks like Aquaplus just got bought out by a gaming company called CREST. Crest is focused more heavily on releasing games globally and has released a number of games in english including some mobile games (but not gachas). It's possible that some of the Utawarerumono games that haven't been translated yet (like Zan 2) or Lost Flag could end up getting translations in the near future.

But then I tried floor 41 and it's kicking my ass because I always run out of zeal shortly after my second batch of chain 3s. Looking through the zillions of enemy abilities the only anti-zeal I see is Atuy debuffing her target's zeal gain by 10% for 5 seconds and stripping their zeal buffs. Which is impossible to really counter with the usual zeal debuff removers but also doesn't seem like it should be hurting THAT much. Seems like the only way to counter is more zeal buffing mirrors; it doesn't help that everyone with god Kuon for rent is using two of the mirror from her banner and not the Hakuoro mirrors (which I don't have any of)

Just saw that the anime blueray release is going to include a fandisc for Mask of Truth with some hints that it will contain an epilogue.

Having closure is nice but Monochrome Moebius was really their only recent attempt at something "new" even if a good 80% of the cast was younger versions of characters.

Lucky, my tickets haven't given me shit since the Rulutieh alt in September(?). Tickets in general never land me shit and I moatly drained the game's gems so I'm basically coasting along and maxing whatever characters strike my fancy/are strong by tier list standards

Since raids started I've only ever gotten the 300 gems via a friend getting the 3000 one time, never gotten 3000 myself; the rates of that have to be astronomically low.
Got the 300 gems 2 times, 3K now. Must be low indeed considering I haven't skipped a single lotery for over a year now that I recall anyway

Somehow managed to beat lvl 100 raid but this has to be worst raid boss yet. Total fricking butthole.

VH3 seems to be completely fricking impossible if you don't have a select few characters. The boss debuffs your zeal generation by 20% for 8 seconds every time you hit him, which means no zeal unless you have a character that grants immunity to zeal debuff (I don't). The only hope seemed to be to nuke him down fast with my initial rush of zeal buffs but that's impossible because of all his defenses: he acquires damage cut like crazy and every time he attacks he removes damage cut seal, on top of Woto giving damage nullification and the boss reviving repeatedly until you defeat Woto and enrage him.
Haven't even taken the time to attempt it yet; with my Shirayuki and a rental I should be able to deal with 2 of them, but I'm worried about how I'll deal with the other one considering how much I was struggling to deal damage against lvl 90 with a fraction of the HP
Event goes until the 31 right? Might be able to clear the shop by then, got the event mirrors from rolls. Also level 50 raids needing 3 parties kinda sucks, guess I really ought to start leveling some other characters.
So there's a new system that lets other people clear certain stages for you (using YOUR characters and mirrors), right now that's just VH3. Seems ridiculously time consuming considering you'd have to look through a bunch of strangers' rosters and figure out what to use (and probably most of the people requesting help don't have a chance of beating it).
I assume this is going to get updated to allow borrowing like Raids do eventually because yeah, people requesting probably don't have a chance of clearing the stage.
Can't clear VH3, doesn't matter since I got what I wanted from the shop, now it's just chill until Feb. Hopefully I can get the Yinyang shit from raid shop before it closes.
Almost gave up on raid 100 after not even taking off half the first boss's HP with my weakest team, but then I looked at the teams of the people atop the rankings and realized they're hardly bothering to use wind/light units and just using whatever the best support characters are. So I dropped Fugito and NyMinagi for S.Juuni and S.Suzuri to fix my zeal problems and was able to tediously beat the 1st boss.
Unfortunately then my second team hit a wall; I thought Shirayuki would carry me but I couldn't deal with the fricking barrier. I wound up DoT'ing the boss's actual HP down to a sliver but had no way of finishing it. Just needed to take Caitsith or Gokou instead of Yuzuha for barrier destruction and I would have been fine.
The traces this time are fricking trash for countering this boss though, the blue diamonds that used to suppress its damage cut are now mostly pointless because it gets immunity to damage cut seal. Stun is already easy enough to counter with characters and mirrors so the red stars are pointless. Meanwhile there's nothing to help with its damage nullification.
Holy shit, with the final free ticket of the month. Of course it's after I already spent a ton of time to clear raid 110, I could probably go farther now though. The funny thing with this boss is if you can clear 100 then going past it isn't that much harder as the boss HP/attack just gradually ramps up. I could never clear 110s before when they re-ran the original bosses but gave them massive upgrades in skills and stats at 110.
Also FYI the 3rd mission tab (that usually just has missions for raising the monthly banner characters) now has missions for raising Mito and Hien to pact 15 that basically refund the 3* pact items you spent for pact 13-15. I only noticed when I went to collect Woto's missions, now I'm wondering if they did the same thing in previous months and I never noticed because I failed to roll the event characters and never clicked that tab

Damn, I really need to catch up on reading the main story if we're now getting events featuring characters from it, but I'm so backlogged on everything.
And fricking event dungeon means I have to withdraw from the water dungeon again to free up my best characters and mirrors. I was able to easily beat lvl 30 of the water dungeon after God Kuon but I still couldn't beat lvl 40 and I've just left them on 30 ever since collecting rewards.
Do we have a 3rd gacha character this month outside of Descendance or can I go balls deep and fail to get Natoritori now?
We have 3rd character on Friday. It isn't a limited character so I'm assuming it's the 3rd robot from the event story.
Fricked up, I really want to do some rolls to try and get Natoritori and event mirrors to speed shit up but if the character ends up broken I want to try and luckshit her. The wait won't be that bad though.
