VA-11 Hall-A

I've just finished VA-11 Hall-A. It was a nice game, danger/u/ was a bit cringe tho. Have you played it? What did you think about it? Who were your favourite characters?

    What is it

A visual novel with a beverage preparation element. You have the recipe book next to you at all times, except for a drink that enables a crossover with characters from another video game. The recipe for that drink precisely appears in that game.

You can get people drunk when they otherwise might not intend to get drunk, or make other choices that lead down paths like your usual visual novel. It's pixel and has some glitch effects

I liked it, got a bit bored towards the end though.

Seems like people here didn't get much out of it, if you came to discuss then you may have better luck somewhere on vg

newbies, Ganker was all over this shit when it released. Seems like the devs aren't doing anything with the IP now, there was meant to be a sequel but it's probably dead by now. damn shame.

Blame the writer didn't quite troon out but he's borderline. The artist is working on a parasite eve/vagrant story inspired ps1 game that looks neat.
Also done a bunch of game jam entries

I've played quite a few VNs but for some reason with this one in particular I eventually just got tired of reading it. I said I would come back to it and it's been at least 2 years. It was fine but I just didn't care very much.

      Anonymous

damn remember when I said 2 years? time flies. This stretch of time means I literally installed it on two computers in a row without launching it. Maybe one day I'll go back to it

All I remember about it is that Jill is hot, I wasn't disappointed and that I looked up how to do some of the paths. I might eventually play it again but I'm in no rush to do that.

I hated it, absolute shit characters and "story". All the dialogue was shit and not even any decent waifu chicks or even if there were the portraits showed nothing. The "gameplay" was abysmal as well. It leans heavily on the aesthetics and comfy factor but has little else, probably one of the worst VN's I've ever played/read.

i have this on my vita but i play it so infrequently i keep forgetting the story when i return to it, i rather grind on persona since its more easy to understand

i mostly play it on my way to work but i usually prefer a podcast or music, that and i live in a rainy country so gaming outdoors is hard, (not to mention the screen is dim as frick)

    >dev trooned out and n1rv4na never ever

    It's OVER.

VA-11 Hall-A was a nice concept but too shallow as a game. Very little world-building and the plot meanders and goes nowhere. It's awful because the world seems interesting but you interact with it very little which is one of the main draws of cyberpunk.
Your choices ultimately don't matter and the "endings" are just different ending screens you see at the very end
Also 0 (ZERO) waifus which is somehow even worse because it's a VN, half of the cast is extremely uninteresting
It's a shame because it has extremely good potential for sure but
    >troon dev
    Owari da.

And I clearly remember the game's website stated it was a waifu abuse simulator but that was a lie there was 0 female abuse, this is just false advertising
Best girls are Jill, Boss, Dorothy, the Ghost Girl, Stella, and Sei, the rest are too boring to mention

I loved to dunk on the subhuman species known as bisexual VA-11 Hall-A fans, mostly by reminding them that their demographic is completely unlovable by every other sexuality group, and even by some of their peers. It's not enough that they are Ganker users, they were also weebs, bisexual and also had a bisexual waifu. God punished them 4 (four) times.

Karmotrine translates pretty closely to vodka. What about the other 4 ingredients, what are they? Are there any 5 real world ingredients that could realistically replicate every drink in the game? Would you watch a video of an autist doing a deep dive on this? If so should it be friendly approachable Brian David Gilbert style overthinking or do you want to see the autism on full display?

      Anonymous

Honestly, I'd watch it. I think they'd all translate to sort of "super" versions of existing drink mixers? Since they seem to replicate the flavor of any alcohol out of four flavors and karmotrine. Fricked up, if you ask me.
