I've just finished VA-11 Hall-A. It was a nice game, danger/u/ was a bit cringe tho. Have you played it? What did you think about it? Who were your favourite characters?

What is it
A visual novel with a beverage preparation element. You have the recipe book next to you at all times, except for a drink that enables a crossover with characters from another video game. The recipe for that drink precisely appears in that game.
You can get people drunk when they otherwise might not intend to get drunk, or make other choices that lead down paths like your usual visual novel. It's pixel and has some glitch effects
I liked it, got a bit bored towards the end though.
newbies, Ganker was all over this shit when it released. Seems like the devs aren't doing anything with the IP now, there was meant to be a sequel but it's probably dead by now. damn shame.
>N1RV Ann-A
>Added to wishlist on 11/11/2020
damn shame, but i'll keep waiting anyway
Blame the writer didn't quite troon out but he's borderline. The artist is working on a parasite eve/vagrant story inspired ps1 game that looks neat.
Also done a bunch of game jam entries
nice
you know, you'd think h-games would've copied this gameplay idea by now
They are cooking kino and as a gamedev I am jealous
>cooking
lol. lmao.
what's so funny anon
>they
Ironic Lark (they/them) isn't working on Project D. Kiririn51 (he/him) is with an argie coder and his friend is doing the music.
I knew Kiririn and some new programmer were but I meant that as they plural
>Ganker was all over this shit when it released
Wow it's almost like the devs are from Ganker or something
The programmer trooned out if I recall, then had a mental breakdown and needed to "take time away"
A game made by Venezuelans. Don't play it.
I've played quite a few VNs but for some reason with this one in particular I eventually just got tired of reading it. I said I would come back to it and it's been at least 2 years. It was fine but I just didn't care very much.
damn remember when I said 2 years? time flies. This stretch of time means I literally installed it on two computers in a row without launching it. Maybe one day I'll go back to it
I accidentally didn't attach the screenshot
All I remember about it is that Jill is hot, I wasn't disappointed and that I looked up how to do some of the paths. I might eventually play it again but I'm in no rush to do that.
I had this game on my wishlist at one point, but then I saw that the dev has a rainbow avatar on their twitter profile, so I removed the game from my wishlist.
The main character is a lesbian moron
The protagonist is bi, and talks about past romances with men a lot, tho.
>fake-anime game made by non-japanese tries to co-opt yuri with westoid lgbt rainbow shit
tale as old as time. you will never be yuri, you will never be anime, and you will never be japanese. you are just an ugly brown mutt who worships rainbow flags and ugly indie games made by people from mexican countries.
>co-opt
>yuri
oh no it's moronic
Yeah I heard this was a troony game so I avoided it
the game has a e-girl sexworker 😉
Whoring her out should've been the main focus of the game.
I think it was funny how there were lesbian and bisexual women, straight men, and even a FtM person (Alma's brother), but no bisexual men. Based Sukeban Games, I kneel.
I hated it, absolute shit characters and "story". All the dialogue was shit and not even any decent waifu chicks or even if there were the portraits showed nothing. The "gameplay" was abysmal as well. It leans heavily on the aesthetics and comfy factor but has little else, probably one of the worst VN's I've ever played/read.
Seems like people here didn't get much out of it, if you came to discuss then you may have better luck somewhere on vg
Which of the many generals?
VN and Vitagen would be a good bet
Thanks. But now that I think of it, I don't have much to say. So I'll stick here.
The only game to bring back my nostalgia of Win-95 VN's. I have it installed on every device I own that can run it. The fact the sequel will NEVER come out it a travesty
I really liked it overall.
I like Jill, but I kinda wish the story (particularly lategame) focused less on her and more on comfy bartending while chatting to fun customers.
Never? I haven't kept up, what happened?
>I haven't kept up, what happened?
Not him.
>game it's finished
>it's shit to play
>has to be retooled
>but now they are working in an Unity 3D game
a non degenerate jill thread? what is happening
One may ask... what the hell is going on... heh...
My only knowledge of this game is the cameo from that meme game Ganker is obsessed with. It's probably good all things considered.
2064: Read Only Memories?
Literally nobody played this except me
Probably referring to yiik
I kinda wanted to play it, but the art style is too amateurish for my tastes, especially when compared with VA-11 Hall-A (kind of difficult to not compare).
I know he meant YIIK, it was just a joke.
The art is pretty simple, I guess they decided to spend on voice acting instead
>danger/u/
speaking of, the textboard based on the in-game textboard was pretty cozy when i last browsed it two years ago and spamming burgs was fun. i imagine it doesn't get very many new g/u/rls finding it however.
i have this on my vita but i play it so infrequently i keep forgetting the story when i return to it, i rather grind on persona since its more easy to understand
i mostly play it on my way to work but i usually prefer a podcast or music, that and i live in a rainy country so gaming outdoors is hard, (not to mention the screen is dim as frick)
good waifu doe
The vita version is pretty terrible, you're better off playing it elsewhere.
I switched to PC about halfway through.
why? i am not aware of any changes, its a very small game i cant think something got changed between them
It has this issue where it would freeze for about 5 seconds to load things in at completely random points.
I put on hold this game for years because of my preconceptions about bisexual women. I'm glad I got over them.
>dev trooned out and n1rv4na never ever
>
It's OVER.
VA-11 Hall-A was a nice concept but too shallow as a game. Very little world-building and the plot meanders and goes nowhere. It's awful because the world seems interesting but you interact with it very little which is one of the main draws of cyberpunk.
Your choices ultimately don't matter and the "endings" are just different ending screens you see at the very end
Also 0 (ZERO) waifus which is somehow even worse because it's a VN, half of the cast is extremely uninteresting
It's a shame because it has extremely good potential for sure but
>troon dev
Owari da.
And I clearly remember the game's website stated it was a waifu abuse simulator but that was a lie there was 0 female abuse, this is just false advertising
Best girls are Jill, Boss, Dorothy, the Ghost Girl, Stella, and Sei, the rest are too boring to mention
>Best girls are Jill, Boss, Dorothy, the Ghost Girl, Stella, and Sei, the rest are too boring to mention
You listed like half the cast.
Best girl is either Jill or Dorothy
Not waifu material though because
>used goods
Honestly the game is a damn shame it could have been so much more
finish the fricking sequel stupid venezuelan
They are making Unity-powered slow burn atmospheric chilling NO JUMPSCARES slow burn character driven PSX-inspired game #25398346138507.
name TWO other games like that
all style no substance
Never played this game but venezuelans deserve the rope
t.venezuelan
Yeah, I played it and I liked it. I liked Jill and Sei the most.
I loved their post-bank incident break scene.
>CAPTCHA: KKK80S
I had fun with it, OST is great too.
It's the best cyberpunk game i played after deus ex
Jill's drama was really cringe though
>Jill's drama was really cringe though
I liked it.
I loved to dunk on the subhuman species known as bisexual VA-11 Hall-A fans, mostly by reminding them that their demographic is completely unlovable by every other sexuality group, and even by some of their peers. It's not enough that they are Ganker users, they were also weebs, bisexual and also had a bisexual waifu. God punished them 4 (four) times.
Va-11 trann-a is a stereotypical fake-anime pixel art cyberpunk indie game made by mexicans. I think having to admit that you enjoy such garbage is punishment enough. And it's barely even a "game."
Its only redeeming quality was its art.
The music was better than the art
>that one time I went to a sushi restaurant and Welcome to VA-11 Hall-A was playing
I'll never forget it
Was it customer-controlled music somehow, or was someone working there just the right kind of nerd?
Wish I knew
I bought it on sale years ago but found out the devs are trannies before I got around to playing it. Kind've a shame since it sounded fun.
sequel never
Maybe it's for the best.
troony game.
Cringe pro-LGBT themes.
Mediocre writing.
Unnecessary meme pandering.
Top-tier soundtrack, though.
And I want to have sex with Jill.
This game is so boring, which I suppose was the purpose. Making a game boring on purpose doesn't make it any better though. Only reason I finished it was because those stupid dogs showed up.
It's a slow burn atmospheric gut wrenching bone chilling character development jumpscare free indie game. You wouldn't get it.
A game carried by the music and the artstyle. Mixing drinks was a novel minigame.
The writing is incredibly hit or miss. From lolsorandumb to somewhat interesting cyberpunk stuff to unsubtle/awkward preaching
Good characters were Jill, Dorothy, Jamie, Stella, Sei, and Dana.
I'll give it a 7/10 and say I have no hope for he sequel being good or even releasing after one of the devs got mind rotted by social media and drank that kool-aid. The guy that did the music for this one also isn't on the sequel so whoever is composing music for that thing has big shoes to fill.
Karmotrine translates pretty closely to vodka. What about the other 4 ingredients, what are they? Are there any 5 real world ingredients that could realistically replicate every drink in the game? Would you watch a video of an autist doing a deep dive on this? If so should it be friendly approachable Brian David Gilbert style overthinking or do you want to see the autism on full display?
Honestly, I'd watch it. I think they'd all translate to sort of "super" versions of existing drink mixers? Since they seem to replicate the flavor of any alcohol out of four flavors and karmotrine. Fricked up, if you ask me.
thighs
Jill is boring. Also I fricked Alma's breasts.
Dana is cool
Frickboy and cat boomer are cute
Sei is alright
N1RV Ann-A never ever
>danger/u/ was a bit cringe tho
i had some giggles
>people shitposting around about jill being cute
>one post of "i'm coming there tomorrow to see her"
>next day, a brain in a jar comes over
