I don't really. Even after the complete combat remake the combat felt bad. They shouldn't have pretended like it could have been a shooter.

MOBA+shooter just doesn't work just like those MMOFPS or RTSFPS games don't work. It's a neat concept but they suck to play. Either move away from shooting and make something like Smite or just make a shooter.

Also creep waves are a dogshit mechanic anyway. There's a reason why there's only 2 MOBAS anyone gives a shit about and about 100+ dead ones.

You're too low-IQ to really understand what their company is. They make platforms. All their games are either platforms or there to get users onto platforms. There is no "valve but never had a digital game store." The very first thing valve made was one of the most-modded products in history. That's just what they do and it's why they can take 30 years to make basically no games. They don't need to, it's not their job.

Valve re-did their work flow years ago. What we are seeing now is Valve getting off their asses and making games. The problem is that most of the good developers left before Valve re-organized, and most of who's left at valve are Icefrog disciples that don't know how to make anything that's not a moba (ie, the worst subgenre in games bar none). Artifact should have been the wake up call to Valve that icefrog needs to stay contained to Dota 2 and that they can't build a company around porting moba shit into other games.

i wouldn't be surprised if valve never finds true creatives ever again - they're just too big and the money they print is just not conducive to finding people that are new and hungry; they just draw in senior talent that's stuck in their ways

sports fields are nearly empty rectangles with the bare minimum of game pieces to function
moba maps already simulate wandering through valleys. they could easily go through a different valley and the game would probably be more balanced as a result

          Anonymous

You're right, moba maps are really overdesigned and should be simplified to just the basic working parts to maximize the competition. They still don't need "different" maps, that would make it a different game which isn't the point. The point is to compete in the same game.

The moba I had the most fun with was HOTS.
A big part of that was the variety to be had due to multiple maps and having different objectives.
League and Dota both get very stale and unless you are autistic and care about try harding you will see less variety per match.

I support more unique maps, even if some of them end up being less fun to play than others.

So it's basically pic related except it's from Valve.

I think all the good devs and other staff has left years ago, too tired to check myself but that definitely doesn't feel like a game Valve would create tbh. Enjoy your epic heroes shooter I guess.

I don't even know where they go from scrapping the Tarkov shit into a hero shooter. At that point, why not just have a Destiny spinoff with all the guns/powers kinda plopped together.

Pretty dumb if true Tarkov players only like Tarkov it could've been a hit with the masses not exposed to the genre.

              Anonymous

I think there is a layer of trying to casualize down the formula, where the formula breaks. DMZ is a good comparison. Big maps, loot, quests. Didn't launch with a stash, you had insured weapon slots so it didn't really matter. Still had the Warzone plate/auto healing system. Once you lose the intensity of Tarkov, you really do not have much left. Its why Arena Breakout might be fun but it has no Interchange, or Streets and the audio/visual design makes it feel less intense.

Marathon legitimately has a better chance than Deadlink. People are desperate for a not tarkov extraction shooter and bungie is graded on the biggest fricking curve out of any developer. Plus there isn't a mass fatigue for the Bungie scifi slop aesthetic they and every ex-Bungie dev have been doing ever since the original Marathon. Meanwhile Valve is chasing a subgenre that people are sick of and that's already locked down by Riot and Blizzard, and worst of all, it's proven that dota 2 fans are dota 2 fans, and not valve fans. They have zero interest in Valve games that aren't dota 2. There is no audience for Valve's new game, at all.

        >There is no audience for Valve's new game, at all
I wouldn't be so sure. There's a whole audience of OW players who left when ActiBlizz deleted their game and replaced it with a joyless, israelited up whale milking simulator with worse mechanics and an even more fricked balance. I'm certainly one of them, and would love a game that manages to recapture the fun of early OW.

No, the trigger is hidden behind the other hand, what you are seeing is just a different coloured piece. IF it were to have some technical function then it is a grip safety; a mechanism that stops the gun from firing unless it is pressed down. This prevents accidental firing of the gun.

I just don't get it why they choose THIS to be their next big thing. There are around 50 or so of these already on the market; double if you count ones that are asian restricted only; and doubled again if you add in mobile ones.

This isn't the case of DotA2 where the genre wasn't mainstream yet. These games are all over the place already and a new one pops up every month. They really need some kind of impressive gimmick to stand out from the rest, or else this will fade out as fast as underlords and artifact.

Why can't valve make games anymore? I don't want to play a game where I have to defend lanes. A shooter game should focus on the action and where action happens should be defined by stuff like
    >where do enemies spawn and what route they will take
    >the objective
    >areas where you can get resources (double damage rune, big medpack, the rocket launcher spawn, engineer nest)
TF2 and Counter Strike already handled this. In CS you kill your enemies and to speed it up and force action you plant a bomb to force an engagement at point A or point B, certain chokepoints are where action happens. In TF2 you have several cool options, pushing the cart so the action is always centered around the cart. Maps where you take objective A then B then C so you move the engagement further.

I do not want to fricking rely on other people to defend 3 other lanes. I don't want to have the entire enemy team decide they will take lane 1 so I have to abandon everything and rush to that lane only for them to back off and run to a different lane. It's dumb, I don't like it. I don't like multitasking. I don't want to play Artifact on 3 boards at the same time. Lanes promote passive play as you hold back on resources and respawns in case the enemy commits fully to a lane forcing you to be conservative with resources and spread them thin. Frick that.
